Chapter 18: Another Day

Kate's P.O.V

We all walked into the den looking at each other concerned, "What's wrong with dad?" I asked my mother. She looked at me like a stone, "Well you see Kate…Your father...Let's just say he has a bad history with the Southern pack" she stuttered. We all fell silent as my father walked into the den. "Sorry for my breakdown before" He started. "It's alright Winston" Eve replied. He looked down at the ground and then looked up, "The reason I'm so angry is because my b…" He was cut off by Hutch walking in, "Is this a bad time sir?" Hutch asked. "It's alright, what where you going to say" Winston replied. "Everyone is up and waiting outside for you" Hutch explained. "Thank you" Winston replied. Hutch nodded his head and went outside.

"What where you saying dad?" I asked. "Oh Uh, never mind. Just go outside and wait for me" He replied. I nodded my head and slowly I got up, Humphrey followed behind.

We walked down the ramp and stood in the crowd of wolfs, everyone fell silent, "So you are probably wondering why I brought you all here at this hour" Winston spoke out loud. "My daughter Kate has returned with some very bad news". Everyone started whispering to each other, "My daughter had come home to in forum me about this pack she and her mate had come across, The Southern pack has declared w…w…war with us" He blurted out.

Everyone's eyes winded, "I don't have a plan but I will figure one out, trust me" Winston shouted. People looked at him with disbelief, some looked with hope. "Alright everyone, get some rest because we have a big day tomorrow" He shouted. Everyone started heading back towards their dens, "Kate, do you want to go back to my den?" Humphrey asked me. I looked at him confused, "You have a den?" I asked. "Uh yeah, I've always had one" Humphrey replied. "Alright then but just tonight" I said with a smile. "Alright then" he replied.

10 Minutes Later

"Here we are" Humphrey said exited. We went through a bush, I then had a look at Humphrey's den. Humphreys den was under a small hill with a little river beside it. There where flowers and tree's everywhere and it looked so beautiful, "Humphrey, why didn't you ever take me here" I said disappointed, "We could have had sleep over's or something" I giggled. Humphrey smiled. "Well I don't know about that but I never wanted to share this place to anyone, I wanted my own area" Humphrey explained. "Not because I hate you anything" he finished.

"Come in" Humphrey said with his paw pointed towards the front of the den. I walked into the den, it was a bit dirty and it had a few leafs inside but other than that it was perfect, "Well you know how I said before only tonight, forget about that…I'm staying her" I chuckled. We both began to laugh. "Well we better get some rest" Humphrey said sleepily, "Aright then" I replied. I laid down in the middle of the den, Humphrey came up behind me and curled around me. I snuggled up to his chest, "Good night Kate, I'm so happy that you're here with me" Humphrey whispered into my ear, "And I'm glad you're her too" I replied. We nuzzled each other and drifted off to sleep.

The Following Morning

The sun peered through the trees into my eyes. I rubbed my eyes to clean all the sleep out. Humphrey was still asleep and he had his arms wrapped around me, "Well looks like he's going to have to get up" I whispered to myself. I nudged the side of his head, "Humphrey, wake up" I whispered into his ear. His eyes slowly opened, "Kate?" he asked sleepily, "What's wrong". "Wake up" I giggled. He smiled. "Well I'm awake now" he replied. I got up and stretched, Humphrey did the same.

"I'm super hungry, I haven't eaten since 2 days ago" Humphrey complained. "The morning hunt should be finished soon, we will go down and have something to eat" I replied. Humphrey nodded his head.

Just as I finished talking I heard a howl from a distance, "Well if we want it fresh let's go!" I said running off. Humphrey chased after me. We run around trees, through bushes and down hills. Humphrey somehow caught up to me, "Slow poke" he laughed out. He sprinted off like bull. He was that fast that I could catch up to him.

When I finally reached him he was waiting for me at the feeding grounds, "H…Humphrey, you're really fast for an o…omega" I said out of breath. "I know, I just felt like I was the king of the world for a second and just ran like the wind" Humphrey chuckled. "Let's get something to eat" Humphrey said with a smile. I nodded my head. We walked over to everyone, "Morning Kate, Morning Humphrey" Hutch said in a soft voice, "Morning Hutch" I replied. "Morning" Humphrey also replied. We walked over to the caribou and I then saw Lily and Garth, they still don't know that Humphrey and I are back yet, "Let's surprise Lily and Garth" I whispered to Humphrey. He looked at them and then nodded his head. We snuck up behind Lily and Garth, I tapped Lily on the shoulder. She turned around confused and then saw me. Her eyes widened, "Kate!" she called out giving me a hug. "Where have you been, I've been worried sick about you" she cried out. I smiled, "Actually, Humphrey and I got back last night" I explained, "Oh, well ok then" she said with a smile. She then saw Humphrey behind me, "So what's going on with you and Humphrey" she said smiling. I blushed, "Well uh…his my mate I guess now" I said embarrassed.

Lily laughed, "Well Garth and I are mates too now" Lily said pleased. I smiled, "Well I'm happy for you two" I smiled, "Thanks and I'm happy for you and Humphrey as well" she finished. We both laughed and turned around to see Garth and Humphrey laughing together, they then turned to us, "Well Humphrey and I are going to have something to eat and then we have to go see dad" I explained. "Well Garth and I are going to go and have a bath" Lily said smiling. Garth put on a big smile, Lily did the same. "Alright then, see you later" I said confused. Lily and Garth ran off into the woods. Humphrey and I looked at each other, "Wonder what that was all about" I asked Humphrey, "I have no idea" he replied. We both started laughing and we went over to the caribou to have something to eat.

After Eating

"Alright let's go see my dad" I proposed. Humphrey nodded his head and we heading towards Winston's den.

When we got there my mum and dad where waiting inside for us, "Morning Dad" I said in a loving voice. "Morning Kate" he replied. My dad and mum looked at us very suspicious, "So you went back to Humphrey's den last night?" Winston asked, "Um yeah, why?" I replied. My mum and dad looked at each other with a serious look, "Well it's just you know, you two are all grown up now and your mates so…" My dad said embarrassed. "Dad!" I screamed out, "We didn't do anything like that" I said angry. "Well you say that but I think you forget, your mother and I where your age once as well" Winston replied. Humphrey and I started to blush, "Well we didn't ok" I replied. "Ok then" My mum replied.

That was awkward, hope you guys enjoyed this chapter and if you did please review and favorite. I know this chapter was pretty boring but I was going for a romantic and funny chapter.
