I stood, looking at him trying to keep a calm demeanor while my mind raced at warp speed. How does he know my name? I cleared my throat, which caught his attention. "S..so, who are you?" "I already told you my name." He said casually. I looked in his eyes, they were a dark green, "I don't believe you." He shrugged, "doesn't matter if you do or don't, I want answers." "As do I." I said, nodding while giving him the stink eye. I took a few steps, trying to look like I wasn't looking at him while keeping him in the corner of my view. I saw him do the same, before taking a small device out of his front pocket. He held it up in the air while slowly moving it around, squinting at it. He did this for a few more seconds before tucking the instrument back into his pocket. I pretended not to notice his actions, when in reality I was extremely intrigued. I watched him pocket the object and start walking away from me. "Hey! Where do you think you're going?" "Somewhere." He responded without missing a beat. I huffed and started to walk after him, glancing around at the rolling mists. I caught up and fell in line behind his quick pace. Whether he was purposely ignoring me or just trying to avoid me, I didn't know. He didn't try to make a run for it, but it wasn't like he could do anything to stop me from following him anyways. A few minutes of walking through the featureless landscape another shape started to part from the haze. We got closer, more and more features revealing themselves in the dim light. I realized it was just a rock, but as I peered closer, I thought I saw something move! I stopped walking, keeping a few hundred feet away, but Liam had no such apparent intentions. He walked right up to the thing and just stared at it, unmoving. My curiosity overtaking my fear, I decided to get closer. If something big with teeth attacks, he will get eaten first. heh. My little joke didn't do much to ease my mind. I could've sworn I saw something move! Liam turned to look at me, with an unreadable expression, before turning back to the rock. For a few seconds, neither of us moved. That is, until I saw another figure move out from behind the rock. I jumped back and prepared to high tail it out of there, not really wanting to meet with another unsettling faceless…thing. Liam merely just turned his head to look at it, seemingly unimpressed. "Who are you?" He spoke for the first time since our little scuffle. The figure stepped forward and I could now see it did have a face, and it appeared to be a middle aged woman in a business suit, hair held up in a neat bun. Odd. Liam then spoke again, "Who are you? Do you know where we are?" The figure made a show of admiring her nails, "Names hold power." She dropped her arm. "How about we make a trade, strangers?" "My name is Liam." I was taken aback by how readily he was willing to give up that info, which brought back my suspicions that "Liam" wasn't his real name. "And what about her?" The figure motioned towards me with her head." "I..uh.." I stammered out, and they both turned to look at me. "My...My name is Harper." I said quietly, glancing at the ground. I don't trust this lady... "Wonderful!" The figure said with a cheerful voice that made me shiver, "My name is Sasha, nice to meet you!" Liam nodded to acknowledge. "So, do you happen to know where we are or what's going on? Liam asked. "Lets just say this isn't my first time here, I'm a traveler, from nowhere in particular, but that depends on you." She said with an unsettling smile. "Answer the question." Liam said with no small amount of force. "You should watch your tone, Liam" I watched him slightly stiffen as she intentionally put emphasis on his name. Everyone stood still, looking at each other. Liam, looking visibly uncomfortable pulled out his device, not even trying to hide it in front of Sasha, which I now suspect isn't her real name either. Maybe I should've used a fake name earlier. I quickly cleared that thought from my head, Liam apparently already knew my name somehow, and based on how Sasha was acting, she had the same suspicion I did towards him. He looked down at it, before looking back up at Sasha, frowning. She gave him a sly grin, "Oh, are you looking for something?" I saw him narrow his eyes at her, but say nothing. Her head snapped to the right and caught me right in the eyes. Her bright eyes made me feel like I almost couldn't look away. I managed to jerk my eyes downwards, feeling strangely empty. "I think I know what this is about." She said as she walked closer to us. I started to move away from her, but I only managed a dozen steps before my back collided with a solid object. I turned my head around to see the rock blocking my path. Wait, wasn't this thing just in front of me? I turned back to see her stop a few feet away from each of us. She slowly reached a slim hand into her suit jacket, and pulled out something enclosed in her palm. She opened it revealing a black sphere that almost looked like it absorbed the light. It started to hurt my head to look at too long, and I had to tear my eyes away from the curious object. "Is this what you're looking for?" I couldn't do anything but gape at her. "W...what is that thing?" She gave me an incredulous look, "Interesting…" I reached for the rock to support myself, but found my hand grasping at thin air. I cast a glance behind me and saw nothing, before whipping back around to find Sasha standing arms at her side, the orb nowhere in sight. "Both of you, tell me, do you feel fear?" She asked with a very wide grin. I had a very bad feeling about this.
