Emma and Killian are sitting at Granny's waiting for Robin and Regina to meet them. They are all too meet with Tink and Ruby to go over the details of the gender reveal party. They've invited them to meet them about an hour early to seal a deal that Emma and Killian are hoping Robin and Regina will accept. Robin and Regina walk in just as the appetizers arrive. "Hey! How you guys!" Regina greets both Emma and Killian with a hug. Robin follows with a pat and a handshake. Emma and Killian greet them; "I'm so glad you guys were able to meet with us before Ruby and Tinkerbell arrive. We have a question to ask you guys."
"Emma, everything okay?" Regina asked with concern. "Oh yes! Everything is fine." Emma said. Killian jumps in, "Emma and I have been talking and the both of us are scared as hell about this baby and we are going to need help." Emma speaks next, "I would ask my mom and dad but they have Neal so their hands are already full, and they have their jobs." Robin and Regina have a perplexed look on their faces. They look at each other and wonder if they are understanding what each of them is trying saying and then turn to back to look at Emma and Killian.
Killian cuts to the chase, "will you be our baby's Godparents?" Emma adds, "please?" Regina and Robin are taken aback. They both smile as they try to find the right words to say. Regina is the first to accept, "yes! Of course! Oh my God, Emma!" Tears begin to emerge as she gets up and hugs Emma. "It'd be an honor! Thank you for this gift!" Robin said to Killian as he gave him a brotherly embrace. "If we didn't already ask your parents to be Godparents for ours, you guys would have been our second choice!" Regina said. Emma responded, "I know, my mom told us which made our decision even easier."
"THAT she tells!" Regina chuckled.
They settle at the table and regain their composure and start feasting on their appetizers. Just then Ruby walks in, "hey, guys!" Ruby comes to their table and sits a box down on the booth behind them. She opens the box and pulls out two cupcakes and places them in front of Regina and Emma. Regina's eyes widen, "Oooo! What are these?" Ruby pulls up a chair and explains, the treats. These are the cupcakes that Snow wants to have at your gender reveal party. Emma, these are yours," Ruby pulls out two more cupcakes and places them in front of her. "These are cupcakes!?" Emma asked as her eyes widened as she starts to examine both cupcakes. "Snow said you and Killian wanted a mermaid and pirate theme so I came up with these." Ruby hands Killian a mermaid cupcake that is immaculately decorated with purple and teal marbled fondant delicately swirled on top with fondant shaped like a mermaid fin neatly placed as if the mermaid dived in headfirst. It was adorned with edible purple glitter and edible pearls. The pirate cupcake was topped with fluffy sand colored frosting with crushed graham crackers sprinkled on top for a more believable effect. It is topped with a pirate hat that was carefully molded into detail.
"Regina, yours are simple yet elegant for a more royal effect," Ruby said. Their cupcakes were just as detailed as Emma's and Killian's. "Don't get mad, I kind of went against Snow's suggestions so for the boy cupcakes, I added a forest theme to them in honor of you Robin." Robin examines the detail of the cupcake which is frosted in green frosting and is topped with a bow and arrow that was also molded into detail. "I kept the original idea of making the girl cupcakes a princess theme," Ruby said. Regina is in awe at the detail of the light pink frosted cupcake that is topped with a mini crown that has been sprinkled with pink edible glitter. "Ruby! These are perfect! They're beautiful!" Regina said with gratitude. "Thank you. It took me literally two days to mold each of these. Luckily once I got the hang of it, it only two me a week to mold them all which is why I'm hoping you guys like them, if not, well, too bad." Ruby smiled as Emma and Regina shook their head in approval, "No, Ruby! I love them! They're perfect! I'm sorry you had to go through all that detail! You didn't have to!" Emma uttered. "Oh, I had fun! I've been talking to Granny about adding a bakery menu to the diner because I love doing this stuff! I enjoyed it! I'm so glad you like them! Now, I just need to know what flavor you guys want. I can do strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla."
Regina and Emma look at each other. "I want chocolate," Emma uttered. "I'll do vanilla!" Regina added. Emma and Regina look at each other again and give each other a look to see if they can get more information out of Ruby. "So…Ruby. Has anyone ever told you how talented you are? I mean, the detail in these are perfect! Did Snow hint at which one she liked best?" Ruby looks at Regina, "Snow told me you were going to try to get something out of me. No, Regina, I don't know the gender of the baby and nor Emma's." Regina mumbles under her breath as Emma rolls her eyes. "The one secret she refuses to spill," Emma uttered, Ruby chuckles, "So, Snow mentioned about 2 dozen? One dozen for each of you?" "Yes," Regina said with her arms crossed. "That should suffice."
"Perfect, Tink told me to text her as soon as I confirmed with you guys. She's helping me bake them." Ruby confirmed as she wrote in her notes. Robin asked, "where is Tinkerbell?" "She's running errands with Belle. They were picking out decorations."
"What color of decorations?" Emma asked hoping for the right answer. "Nice try, Emma. Trust me, Snow refuses to tell us so we are having to improvise. We are having to buy both colors of glitter and balloons and we are not allowed to put the reveal boxes together! We are meeting up with her tomorrow to finalize the plans." Ruby gathers her things and gives her goodbyes, "I will so you on Saturday!"
Snow has called a hostess meeting at her apartment and Belle, Ruby, and Tinkerbell have brought their ideas as to how the genders will be revealed. Belle has brought her idea to the table first, "For Emma and Killian, I was thinking of a treasure chest stuffed with blue or pink balloons while having somebody on either side of them blowing off party poppers with pink or blue confetti and glitter as they open it." Snow is vigorously writing down notes, "I like that!" Tinkerbell chimes in, "I can provide the glitter and confetti!"
"Perfect!" Snow said as she finalized her notes. "Tinkerbell, can you provide both colors for me?" Tinkerbell looks confused, "why do you need both colors? Aren't you going to tell us?" Snow has a sly smile on her face, "oh no. This is just between me, myself, and I." Belle, Tink, and Ruby just shake their heads as they move on to Regina and Robin. Tinkerbell brings in her idea, "well, I thought of having Robin and Regina stand next each other under and shoot an arrow at the big black balloon in the middle and then have the kids and godparents pop off some party poppers with blue or pink confetti." Belle briefly interjects, "have Godparents been picked for either of them?" Snow answers, "yes, David and I are Robin's and Regina's, and Emma and Killian chose Robin and Regina." Belle ponders on Snow's response, "why don't we let the Godparents involved in some way? Let's have godparents and the kids help reveal with the party poppers!" They all nod in agreement. They finish up their plans and head home to prepare for tomorrow.
It's Saturday, the day Baby Hood and Baby Jones will be identified to their family and friends. Emma comes out of her room dressed a whimsical pale-yellow sundress that drapes over her prominent belly and stops just an inch or two under over her knees. Her hair is down in soft bouncy curls and a bridal inspired make-up look graces her face and illuminates her natural glow, which makes Killian take a second look. Killian smiles and is enamored by her presence. "You, Emma Swan Jones, are the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on," he goes up to Emma and kisses her. "Thank you," Emma said bashfully, she returns the kiss, that's when they feel a small jolt come from their unborn child. Emma is caught off guard. "Did you feel that?" Emma grows with excitement when she grabs Killian's hands and places them on her baby bump. "The baby kicked!" Emma said with excitement, Killian smiles as he felt another gentle kick coming from the new life that is soon to be part of their family. Killian embraces the moment, "I could be here forever." "Me too," Emma added. But I'm anxious to see what our baby is." Killian looks at his watch, "aye, I think we need to start making our way to Robin and Regina's, looks like it starts in 45 minutes." Killian grabs Emma's hand and they walk out of their apartment to the party.
At the Hood house, Snow, Belle, Tinkerbell, and Ruby are hard at work putting up last minute decorations and placing the finishing touches on the tables and food. Snow has recruited Henry, Roland, and David for extra help to make sure everything goes off without a hitch. The doorbell rings and Snow goes to answer it, there she sees Emma and Killian standing there smiling, "Emma! You look so beautiful!" Snow goes in for a hug and starts to shed some tears at the sight of her glowing daughter. She moves on to Killian and embraces him in a motherly hold. "Come in." As they walk in, Emma and Killian are taken aback by the pink and blue that has taken over the tables and walls, "wow! You guys went all out!" Emma examines her table, which is adorned with the mermaid and pirate cupcakes that Ruby made. The wall behind the cupcake table is adorned with blue and pink paper pom poms with a banner that runs across from one end of the small wall to the other that reads "Pirates and mermaids and creatures of the sea, we wonder what Baby Jones will be!" Cookies in the shape of anchors complete their table which sits a few steps away from Robin and Regina's table. "This is perfect. Beautiful job!" Killian utters. "Thank you," Snow said proudly. Emma looks around the room, "where's Regina?" "She is upstairs getting ready," Snow said as she looked over the table to double-check that everything was in place.
"Hi, Emma!" Tinkerbell greeted. "You look so beautiful!" Ruby comes up to them, "Emma! You're glowing!" After they exchange hugs, Ruby and Tinkerbell lead Emma outside, "come see how you are going to reveal your baby." They walk outside and see the set up where the reveals will take place. A wooden treasure chest sits on top of a waist-high pedestal that has pink and blue balloons on either side. Tinkerbell explains what will happen, "you and Killian are going to open the chest while Robin and Regina, the Godparents, will be behind you while they burst open party poppers in blue or pink." Emma is in awe as she scans the scenery. Small tears emerge as she smiles wide and shows her appreciation to Ruby and Tinkerbell. Killian, too, expresses his gratitude to them. As they walk back inside, they see Robin round the corner with a defeated look on his face. "Hey, Robin." Killian greeted. "Hi, Robin! Where's Regina?" Emma asked as she scanned behind him. Robin sighs, "ugh…she's upstairs in the middle of a crisis. I had to give her some breathing room." Killian pats him on the back. Emma has a sympathetic look on her face, "is she in the bedroom?" "Yeah," Robin said discouragingly. "Here mate." Killian handed Robin his flask with rum. Without hesitation, Robin takes it from Killian and takes a big swig then hands it back to him as he goes to observe the decorations.
Emma walks upstairs and heads to the master bedroom where she can faintly hear Regina's cries. She knocks lightly, "Regina?" She knocks again, "Regina? Can I come in?" "Emma?" Regina answered through the door. It takes Regina a couple of seconds to regain her composure before she opens the door. She slowly opens it to Emma's glowing look. She takes one glance at Emma and starts crying again. "Regina, what's wrong?" Emma asked. "You look…so…beautiful!" Regina said in sobs. "I can't find anything that fits or I like, my hair isn't cooperating and we haven't even picked out a name!" Regina sobs her way to the bed where she sits. Emma follows her and sits next to her. She embraces Regina and tries to calm her down. Regina leans her head on Emma's shoulder. "Regina, I'm sure you have something. You'll be okay."
"Emma, I'm bigger than what I was when I was pregnant with Riley and my life is over!"
"Regina, you don't look any different than what you did with Riley."
"Emma! Dr. Whale said I am a pound and a half bigger!" Regina begins to sob again.
Emma rolls her eyes and continues comforting her. "Regina, stop being ridiculous. Get up, go wash your face and I'll find you something. You'll be okay." Regina wipes away her tears and makes her way to the bathroom while Emma makes her way downstairs to stall. As she is walking downstairs, Granny can see her and is taken aback from Emma's natural glow. "Emma!" Granny greets her and Emma hugs and thanks her for coming. Henry rounds the corner, "Hey, mom, where's mom?" "She's upstairs in the middle of a breakdown but I got it handled. I need you to help me stall your grandparents while I get your mom under control." Henry nodded in agreement, "okay! I'll do my best!"
Emma walks back upstairs and goes into Regina's room where she can still hear Regina washing her face. She heads to Regina's closet and sees what she can find for her best friend to wear. As she is rummaging through the closet, she remembers the shopping trip she took with Snow when she took them to their first sonogram appointment. Regina had bought a dress that was too big for her at the time but never got around to returning it. It's a spaghetti-strapped lilac sundress with a v-neck with a ribbon belt tied into a bow. She lays it on the bed and goes to find shoes. She finds a pair of simple white strappy sandals with a small heel that brings the outfit together. Feeling accomplished she goes to check on Regina. "Regina, are you okay?" "Yeah, I'm fine," Regina said reassuringly. Emma grabs Regina's hand, "come here. I laid your clothes out." Regina looks at the dress laid out, "Emma. It's perfect! I forgot about that dress! It should fit now." Regina takes it and goes to change in the bathroom, after a minute or so, she emerges. "Aww…Regina! You look so cute! Here, let me adjust your bow." She fixes up Regina's bow and makes sure that everything is in place. "Perfect." Emma smiled and laid a hand on Regina's shoulder, "I'll go wait for you downstairs while you do your hair and makeup." Emma starts to walk away before Regina stops her, "Emma, wait. Don't go. Can you help me?"
Emma smiled, "of course, come on," she leads Regina to the vanity chair and starts to work on Regina's hair. "How do you want it?" Regina looks in the mirror and examines her hair, "I guess my usual mayoral hairdo." Regina chuckled. "What? And how is that?"
"Emma, you know. The little flip at the end." Emma beginnings brushing Regina's hair and start running the straightener through it. Regina smiles at Emma from the mirror then says, "when did you become a hairstylist?" Emma chuckles sarcastically yet gently, "I put a straightener to your hair and I'm a hairstylist?"
Regina is unamused and Emma just brushes it off and responds, "when you're in a foster home your whole life, you learn to fend for yourself at a young age. I was always doing the hair and make-up of the girls. I enjoyed it. They were the sisters I never had and always wanted."
"Was it hard?" Regina asked.
"What?" Emma replied.
"Growing up alone not knowing who your family was?"
"I wasn't 'alone' I mean I knew I belonged to someone out there. I got used to it after a while. Each day got discouraging but I fought on. I had hope that one day I would find them and I just never really gave up on that hope, and look where I am now! I have a big family and I'm embracing every minute." Emma finished up Regina's hair and then adds, "although I still can't stand some of you." Emma fixated her look on Regina as she said that then lets out a smile. Regina rolls her eyes and smiles back. "Okay. What kind of look do you want for your make-up?" Emma rummages through Regina's make-up collection when Regina says, "like yours. Glowy and natural."
"But I'm not wearing any," Emma said arrogantly in a playful way. "Whatever. I know it took all of Sephora and Ulta to get you looking like that." Regina said sarcastically.
Emma finds a palette, "here we go." She chose a pallet with natural tones and nudes and a highlighter powder that will add a glowing look.
"What about you, Regina. Was your life perfect? I can only imagine living in a castle and having your every move catered to you," Emma said as she dipped the brush into the palette and began working on Regina's eyeshadow. "Well, if you want to call a controlling mother and having her life lived through you while you grow misery every day, perfect, then hey, to each their own."
"You mean you didn't have a good life?"
"I did but I felt trapped and I was always unhappy."
"What were your parents like?"
"I wasn't as close to my mother as I was my father. I loved him so much. He kept me sane and grounded. He was my whole heart. It's how Henry got his name."
"That's sweet! Well, if your father was anything like our Henry, he carries the name well." "Thank you," Regina said with a smile as Emma added the finishing touches. There is a knock on the door, "come in," Emma said as she brushed on setting powder on Regina's face.
Robin walks in, "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah! I was just finishing up Regina's make up. Done!"
"Regina! You look beautiful as ever," Robin said as he observed her.
Emma smiled, "I'll see you guys downstairs."
"Thank you, Emma." Regina smiled and hugged her.
"You're welcome." Emma smiled.
Robin added, "thank you."
Emma smiled and walked out of the room and headed downstairs to prepare for the reveal.
Robin is taking a second look at Regina, "wow. Emma did a really good job." Robin looks at the reflection in the mirror as he embraces her from behind. Regina gets up from the chair and faces her love, "I'm sorry, Robin." He shakes his head, "no, no don't apologize. It's alright." He kisses Regina and they are interrupted by a small yet distinctive jolt. "Mmph!" Regina uttered as she was kissing Robin, she backed up and placed a hand on her baby bump. "Did you feel that? The baby just kicked!" They both smile and place their hands on the baby bump. The baby gives another kick and they beam with pride and joy. Robin kisses Regina again. He pulls back and smiles, "let's go see what our new baby is." Robin takes Regina by the hand and they head downstairs, that's when Riley sees her parents and runs up to them. "Da-ddy! Mama!" Robin picks up Riley and kisses her on the cheek. As they make their way into the living room, Regna is greeted with love and compliments from family and friends. Snow walks in and escorts Regina to their table which is adorned with pink and blue streamers, balloons, and paper pompoms. A banner that reads "an outlaw or princess, which one will I be, my mommy and daddy will have to wait and see," hangs in the middle between blue and pink crown Mylar balloons. The cupcakes are neatly laid out along with various snacks and candies that are strewn about. Elsa walks up to them, "hey you guys! Congratulations!"
"Elsa!" Regina smiled as she hugged her, "thank you!"
"Would it be okay if I took some pictures for you guys?" Elsa asked.
Robin replied,"of course!"
"Perfect! Okay, can I have you and Robin in front of the table, Regina? I want to get the banner in the background." As Elsa continues to direct Robin and Regina for pictures, Emma and Killian have just finished their food. Anna approaches them, "Emma! Killian! I'm taking your pictures. Let go to your table!" Elsa and Anna are clicking away at the pictures while Ruby, Tink, and Snow prepare for the reveals. Snow focuses on Emma's and Killian's reveal, she places the party poppers in their places. Elsa is nearly finished, "ok, one last shot, Robin I need you to go behind Regina and place your hands on her tummy from behind, Regina put your hands on top of his and both of you look down at baby and smile!" Elsa clicks away and captures the beautiful moments. "Perfect! All done!" Just as Elsa finishes up, Anna comes up to her, "we just finished." "Us, too!" Elsa and Anna compare their pictures and comment on each of them. Just then Snow rounds the corner, "okay everyone! It's about time to make our way to the backyard to reveal our babies!"
As everyone gathers around Snow calls Killian and Emma up. Granny, Gold, Dr. Hopper, Leroy, Blue, even Zelena, and her family were invited to join into the celebration to congratulate both couples on their bundle of joy. Snow continues, "Emma and Killian will be the first ones to reveal so I need Robin and Regina who are the Godparents. David and I, the grandparents, along with Henry, will help reveal our new grandchild to you." Snow directs Emma and Killian to stand in front of the treasure chest while Robin and Regina stand behind it with each of their hands on top of the chest ready to open. Henry, Snow, and David, are on either side of Emma and Killian who are nervous yet anxious to find out what their baby will be. Snow starts the count down, "okay! Ready? 3…2…1!" Regina and Robin open the chest and glitter and confetti burst out from the treasure chest that rains down on Emma and Killian. Everyone is cheering. "It's a girl!" Snow shouted. Emma brings her hands over her face and tries to hold back tears while Killian is beaming with joy and hugs Emma. Regina and Robin go to give their love and congratulations to the new parents to be.
"Okay! Robin! Regina! It's your turn!" Snow moves them in front of a target where a big black balloon is pinned to the middle. Snow gives the bow and arrows to Robin and Regina and gives party poppers to Henry, Roland, Riley and David. Riley runs up to Robin, but Killian grabs her and hands her one of the balloons that came from their treasure chest. Riley starts clapping "yay!" Everyone giggled at Riley and saw the excitement on her face. Snow begins the countdown, "Okay! Ready? 3…2…1!" Robin and Regina let the arrows go. The balloon pops and a burst of pink glitter and confetti pop out of the balloon. "It's another girl!" Henry shouted. Riley bursts into tears because she is covered in pink glitter and chalk from the party poppers. Regina is crying happy tears and Robin is beaming with a smile from ear to ear. Killian puts Riley down and she runs crying to her father.
The evening is winding down and everyone has bid their goodbyes and congratulations to both families. Emma's and Regina's reality are finally settling in that their babies are girls. Emma and Killian are resting on the couch. "Mia," Killian uttered. "Mia," Emma repeated. "Do we want a middle name?" Killian asked. "I didn't even think of that!" Emma implied.
"Another girl." Robin embraces Regina in a loving hold as they are standing in the kitchen helping Snow putting up the food and dishes. "I know! I'm excited!" Regina exclaimed as she rubbed her baby bump. Robin smiles, "do you have a name yet?" Regina shook her head, "no. not yet. I have a couple in mind but I'm not sure," she said as Robin added, "well, we have time." Emma and Killian enter the kitchen, "Regina?" Can we talk to you?" Regina finishes cleaning the dishes. "Sure!" Robin interrupts, "I'll go put Riley to bed." "Thank you." Regina smiled. She follows Emma and Killian to the living room, "everything okay? What's up?" Killian starts first, "Emma and I were talking and we wanted to if this will be okay with you." Emma continues, "we want to know if we can give our baby girl your name for her middle name." Regina is taken aback, "really?" Emma and Killian nod with a smile. Regina starts to tear up, "what will her name be?" She asked as she started wiping away a tear. Killian said, "Mia Regina Jones." Regina looks down with her hands over her face holding back tears. Emma walks up to Regina and hugs her and starts to comfort her faint sobs.
"I take it that's a yes?" Emma asked as she rubbed Regina's back. Regina pulls back and wipes away her tears, "of course! But, why?" Killian walks up to Regina, "because Emma has told me everything that you have been telling her about parenting, being a friend, and easing her anxieties about being a mom and I've seen how more relaxed she is and as a thank you, we want to bless our daughter with a middle name that will define her as a resilient and powerful person with pure intentions and a good heart." Regina lets out an appreciative sigh, "thank you, Killian. I'd be honored for little Mia to carry my name." They all smile and exchange hugs and make their way to the living room where Snow is finishing up taking down the decorations, "Hey guys!" Emma walks up to Snow, "mom, thank you so much for everything that you and dad have done to bring this together." "Oh, Emma, you're welcome sweetheart. I'm glad I was able to give this to you." Regina also goes up to Snow, "yes, Snow. Thank you for everything. It came out so beautifully!"
