Another new monster to deal with, and another case where it's not the Super Sentai's finishing move that defeats the monster. That can happen sometimes. It's actually pretty neat. Disclaimer: I don't own Super Sentai, Shonen Jump, or any other referenced media.

Chapter 17: Dangerous Amusement Park
Sun Halo Mask walked up to a large container of water. "Now, Black Cross Fuhrer. Observe this experiment of the Z20 formula." He took on eyedropper of the formula in question and let one drop hit the water. Before Black Cross Fuhrer's eyes, the water evaporated at an accelerated rate, until the container was completely empty. "As you can see," Sun Halo Mask said, "This chemical can quickly create a draught as the earth turns into a barren desert!"
"That's great progress!," Black Cross Fuhrer declared. Sun Halo Mask nodded. "We already proved how effective the Z20 is at the African front lines! Now we'll use it on Japan. Imagine, the entire country a barren desert, as the people's food and water are stolen from them!" Black Cross Fuhrer nodded. "Have this plan implemented at once!" "Black Hair Mask is already at work," Sun Halo Mask replied.
Medaka and Ichigo were waiting at the side of a lake, Ichigo skipping rocks along the surface. Suddenly, a mass of black hair wrapped around his throat. Medaka helped him get the hair off as Black Hair Mask appeared, laughing. "We've been expecting you, Black Hair Mask!," Medaka declared. She knocked a couple of Zolders into the water before activating her Ranger Buckle. "Go!" Momorenger pulled the hair off of Ichigo before using to lash a Zolder to the ground.
Ichigo took out a couple Zolders before activating his own Ranger Buckle. "Go!" The two Gorengers confronted Black Hair Mask, who swiped at them with his giant comb. Midorenger got in a few hard strikes before leaping at another couple of Zolders. "Double Kick!" The two Zolders went down as Momorenger pulled off one of her earrings. "Sakura Bomb!" She threw the bomb at a group of Zolders coming along the shore, taking out the whole lot.
Midorenger took out a few more Zolders before parrying some of Black Hair Mask's attacks, leaping away to aim his Visor Weapon. "Midomerang!" He managed to knock off some of the comb's teeth. "Bastard!," Black Hair Mask growled, "Now you've done it! How dare you break my comb!" "Sakura Bomb!" Black Hair Mask quickly leapt away as Momorenger tossed one of her bombs, disappearing in the smoke cloud. "Where did he get to?," Midorenger asked. "It looks like the information from 007 was right," Momorenger noted, "They'll be going for the reservoir next."
Unfortunately, Black Hair Mask had already applied the Z20 to the reservoir, completely draining all the water. A worker at the reservoir hurried over. "Oh, this is bad! The water level's going down!" He hurried off to try and tell someone, only to run into Black Hair Mask. He raised his comb to strike down the man. "Midomerang!" Midorenger's weapon struck the comb, stopping Black Hair Mask's attack. He turned to look at the two Gorengers. "You're too late! There's no water left in this reservoir!" He leapt away and disappeared.
"It was a good opening move," Sun Halo Mask noted, "But unless the Gorengers are dead, we can't call this operation successful!" "If you want to defeat them," Black Hair Mask said, "Then you have to some brains." Sun Halo Mask growled. "Are you saying I have no brains?" "Not at all," Black Hair Mask assured him, "Just that we're not using ours properly to defeat the Gorengers. Listen, I have an idea for a trap that's sure to ensnare them. We just have to lead them right into it!"
"The Gorengers won't fall into a trap so easily," Black Cross Fuhrer pointed out, "Keep in mind they are actually EAGLE agents. They are as cunning as they are powerful." "I've already taken that into consideration," Black Hair Mask assured him, "I have my best Zolders ready to get in touch with EAGLE's contact!" "Oh?," Sun Halo Mask asked, "And just what are their intention?" Black Hair Mask chuckled. "Allow me to explain."
Jotaro was serving himself up some curry, since Master Gon wasn't attending the Snack Gon. "Say, Taro. How about a riddle to pass the time?" "What have you got?," Taro asked. "What kind of birds often leave their nest empty?," Jotaro asked. "Crows of course," Taro replied, "That one's a little too easy." Jotaro smiled as he dug into his curry. "Sometimes you need to brush up on the easy ones so that you can tackle the hard ones."
Meanwhile, Yoko was walking through a parking garage. She waved a flashlight around before checking her watch. Spotting a shadow coming closer, she quickly hid behind a nearby column. The shadow's owner soon stopped walking before throwing something to the ground. Yoko hurried over to pick it up, spotting a Zolder in a lab coat hurrying off. However, he was cut off by Ichigo and Medaka.
"Well isn't this interesting," Ichigo said, "A Zolder giving Black Cross Army info to EAGLE? What's your game here?" "Please!," the Zolder said, "You need to give EAGLE protection! I ran away from the Black Cross Army! If they catch me I'm a dead man!" Ichigo brushed the Zolder's hands off of him and grabbed him by his collar. "And why should we believe you just like that?" "Because I can give you the Z20," the Zolder replied.
Ichigo raised an eyebrow in disbelief, but before he could say anything a shot rang out and the Zolder collapsed in pain. Medaka spotted a couple more Zolders taking aim with their firearms. Medaka and Ichigo hurried after them, until Yoko spotted the downed Zolder getting up and hobbling off. "Medaka! Ichigo! The Zolder with the information ran off!" The duo hurried back, and Ichigo unfolded the paper.
"It's a map of Oyama Amusement Park," Edogawa noted, "This must be where he intends to give us the Z20." "It's obviously a trap," Jotaro noted, "There's no way anyone from Black Cross would just hand over the Z20." Yusuke nodded in agreement. "If we assume this is all the information 007 had for us, then this clearly has to be a trap." Medaka grinned. "So they're trying to trick us into a trap." "And if we know that much," Yugi said, "Then we can use that information against them." "What's the plan?," Jotaro asked. "007," Yugi said, turning to Yoko, "Go to the Oyama Amusement Park." Yoko nodded.
Yoko took a look around the amusement park as she arrived. "The hand-off is supposed to be at the haunted house," she noted, "Which is probably were they're going to spring the trap." Japanese haunted houses are a little different from those in America, typically utilizing more animatronics based on urban legends and yokai rather than actors in monster costumes. Such manufactured frights greeted Yoko as she made her way through the haunted house. "It'll take more than that to scare an agent of EAGLE," she bragged.
She unknowingly passed by Black Hair Mask, who blended in quite well with the spooks of the haunted house. She got a legitimate fright when Black Hair Mask grabbed her by the shoulder. "I've been waiting for you... 007! This is your train straight to hell, as I take your life!" "Sorry, Black Hair Mask!," Medaka called out, "But that's a factual lie!" Black Hair Mask turned as Medaka and Ichigo leapt into view. Black Hair Mask scoffed. "A lie? I'm going to be killing every one of you, so I very much doubt that."
Zolders started coming in, only to get quickly dispatched by the duo as Yoko hurried over to their side. They started fighting their way out of the haunted house, only to run into Black Hair Mask again. "It's futile. You've already walked right into our trap." Ichigo smirked. "Hey Black Hair Mask, count the number of Gorengers present." Black Hair Mask was confused, then realized that there were only two of them. Medaka chuckled. "We already knew this was a trap, you idiot. You made it way too obvious."
"I am not an idiot!," Black Hair Mask called out, "This place shall be your grave!" "Girls don't like a man who lies," Ichigo quipped as he and Medaka got out their Ranger Buckles. "Go!" Midorenger quickly got out his Midomerang. "Black Hair Dentures!" Black Hair Mask shot out a set of chompers from his mouth, which quickly dug into Midorenger's shoulder. "What do you think of that?," Black Hair Mask asked, before getting sliced by the Midomerang. "I think next time you should aim for my dominant hand," Midorenger pointed out.
Black Hair Mask had accidentally missed and gotten Midorenger's left shoulder instead of his right. Momorenger quickly got the dentures off of Midorenger and the trio hurried out of the haunted house, taking out a few more Zolders as they did. Outside, Yoko hopped on the monorail, with one Zolder clinging to the underside and others hopping on another cart, humorously calling for it to go faster. "It's a set speed, you knuckleheads!," she called out. The Zolder underneath the coaster dropped to the ground in a hilarious manner.
Yoko knocked off the other Zolders as they tried hopping onto her cart. Meanwhile, Midorenger and Momorenger were on the maintenance tracks taking out more Zolders. Midorenger leapt off as he saw Black Hair Mask coming in on the roller coaster. Momorenger had already leapt down to ground level and was fighting around the zoo cages. Midorenger soon joined the fight on top of the cage.
Meanwhile, Yoko was hiding from more Zolders, slipping into the ferris wheel. The two Gorengers finished off the Zolders. "Where's 007?," Midorenger asked. "She went to the ferris wheel," Momorenger said. The two activated their jets. "Birdie!" By now Sun Halo Mask had joined Black Hair Mask. "They're flying away!," Sun Halo Mask called out, "Don't lose them!" "We won't," Black Hair Mask assured him, "I've already planted a means of tracking their every movement."
He held up one of his hairs, which was extending across the entire park. "We'll find them at the end of this hair!" He pointed to where the hair had stopped at the ferris wheel. Inside, Medaka was sending out an emergency signal via the Ranger Call. 'Backup is on the way,' Edogawa replied, 'Hang in there.' "Uh, we may have a problem," Ichigo said, having spotted the hair leading into the ferris wheel. Before they could act, the Zolders had locked their car.
Black Hair Mask chuckled as he walked over. "Black Hair Shoot!" The entire car wound up wrapped in black hairs. "It's all going as I planned it," Black Hair Mask declared. Sun Halo Mask nodded. "Okay, turn on the switch!" One of the Zolders hit the switch to start the ferris wheel, sending the car to the very top of the wheel. Black Hair Mask laughed. "They can't go anywhere now! And best of all, my hairs will block all of their signals! Alright, that's high enough! Stop the wheel!"
The car was now stopped at the very top of the ferris wheel. "Now we can begin Operation Japan Desertification," Black Hair Mask declared. "Very good," Sun Halo Mask replied. Inside the car, Ichigo and Medaka were having a tough time breaking out. "If we don't hurry," Medaka said, "They'll use the Z20 to drain all of Japan's water!" Suddenly, the car started filling up with gas. "Oh good, it gets worse," Ichigo said sarcastically.
Down below, the Red and Blue Machines were riding into the amusement park. However, there seemed to be no sign of the trio's comrades. "No sign of them," Yusuke noted, "Or anyone from the Black Cross Army." "Something's off," Jotaro noted, scanning the sky. Unfortunately, the ferris wheel was just out of sight. "They have to be here somewhere," Yugi said, "Medaka's emergency call came from here."
That's when Yugi's Ranger Call went off. 'We just received critical information!,' Edogawa said, 'A Black Cross Army truck was just spotted heading for the White Mountain Reservoir! Head there immediately!' "Roger," Yugi replied. "We're leaving Medaka and Ichigo?," Jotaro asked. "We have no choice," Yugi admitted, "I'm sure they'll catch up when they're able. But just in case... Yusuke." Yusuke nodded. "I'll bring in the Variblune via remote to look for them."
As the Variblune flew towards the Oyama Amusement Park, the three Gorengers spotted the Black Cross Army's truck with Sun Halo Mask and Black Hair Mask. Yugi quickly moved to intercept the truck. "Yugi Moto!?," Sun Halo Mask asked in shock. "But he should have been stuck looking for his comrades!," Black Hair Mask stated, "Why would he suddenly come after us!?" The truck was forced to stop as the Zolders came out. "We won't let you near the reservoir!," Yugi declared. He, Yusuke, and Jotaro quickly started taking out the Zolders.
"Kill all three of them!," Sun Halo Mask ordered. In response, the trio activated their Ranger Buckles. "Go!" Akarenger took out a few Zolders on top of a pavilion roof while Aorenger kicked at another while swinging on a pole. Kirenger punched out another Zolder before tossing yet another. "Red Bute!" Akarenger started lashing at the Zolders with his Visor Weapon. "Time to end this meaningless fight!," Sun Halo Mask declared. He fired off a solar attack that surrounded Akarenger and stunned him. "I'll head to the reservoir while they're occupied!," Black Hair Mask declared. The duo leapt down.
Back in the ferris wheel car, the gas was starting to come in thicker. The super serum flowing in Ichigo and Medaka's veins allowed them a measure of immunity, but Yoko wasn't so lucky. "We need to find a way out of this," Medaka said. "I think I have an idea," Ichigo said as he got out his Ranger Buckle, "Go!" Medaka nodded and activated her own Ranger Buckle. "Go!" Midorenger kicked out the window of the car, allowing him to reach outside and unlock it.
As he and Momorenger started clearing off the hair, Momorenger heard a familiar sound and looked up. "Hey, there's the Variblune!" Midorenger also spotted the VTOL as it homed in on their position. "Ao must have brought it in via remote. This is perfect. We can leave using the Birdies." Momorenger took hold of Yoko. "Birdie!" The two Gorengers flew with Yoko into the Variblune. Inside, the checked in with the Gorenger Base and were brought up to speed. "Alright," Midorenger said, "We'll head for the reservoir."
Sun Halo Mask and Black Hair Mask had arrived at the White Mountain Reservoir. Several Zolders were with them, one carrying a large container of the Z20. "Now," Sun Halo Mask said, "Let's dry up this reservoir! Dump the container into the water!" The Zolder threw the container, only for it to get intercepted as Akarenger leapt out, kicking away the container. "Blue Cherry!" Aorenger struck the container with a rocket-tipped arrow, destroying it on contact. "Hope that wasn't all the Z20 you had!," he quipped.
The two Mask Monster looked around, spotting Akarenger with Kirenger. "Only three of you!," Sun Halo Mask noted, "We have nothing to fear! We'll kill them for sure!" "Ao," Akarenger said, "Where are Momo and Mido." "I dunno," Aorenger admitted, "But they should be arriving shortly. The Variblune confirmed they were picked up." Sun Halo Mask launched a solar strike which the three Gorengers dodged away from.
Kirenger spotted the Variblune flying in. "Here's our reinforcements!" Midorenger and Momorenger flew down on their Birdies. "Where were you two?," Akarenger asked. "What, you couldn't look up to see the hair covered ferris wheel car?," Midorenger quipped. "We didn't see the ferris wheel from our position," Kirenger pointed out. "Damn it!," Black Hair Mask called out, "How are they all here!? My trap was supposed to be foolproof!"
"You're the real fool if you think you can trap us so easily!," Momorenger retorted. The five of them leapt over as Black Hair Mask led his Zolders to confront them. "Akarenger!" "Aorenger!" "Kirenger!" "Momorenger!" "Midorenger!" "The five assembled!" "Gorenger!" Black Hair Mask growled. "Zolders! Go get them!" The Zolders started swarming in as the Gorengers moved to take them out.
Aorenger and Kirenger took out the first few. Akarenger took out a couple more, throwing one off a set of stairs. Midorenger took down one as he leapt over to deal with another. Momorenger took out two more that were coming. As Akarenger dealt with a few more, Kirenger started tossing a few around. "I'm Mount Aso! Make me mad and I explode!" He tossed one right at Midorenger just as he was finishing off a couple more Zolders. "Midomerang!"
His Visor Weapon hit home, sending the hapless Zolder flailing. "Red Bute!" Akarenger started striking down a few more Zolders with his trusty whip. Aorenger took down a few Zolders using his bow before seeing another one flying in. "Blue Cherry!" The Zolder was struck and wound up taking a spill into the water. Momorenger took down a couple more Zolders before setting her sights on a whole group. "Sakura Bomb!" Her earring bomb wiped out the entire squad.
The Gorengers soon mopped up the entire troop before regrouping to face Black Hair Mask. "You won't get away!," he declared, "Comb Missiles!" He fired a few of the teeth of his giant comb, which exploded near the Gorengers. He growled when he saw the explosions had no effect on them. "You bastards are still alive!?" He moved to attack them directly. Meanwhile Sun Halo Mask was grumbling. "I screwed up again! So many victories in Africa, but the second I land on Japanese soil I start losing! I'll have to wait for my next chance."
He hurried off, wishing Black Hair Mask the best of luck. But luck would not be with Black Hair Mask. "Momo," Akarenger said, "Initiate Gorenger Storm!" "Got it!," Momorenger replied. She got out the sphere as the Gorengers got in formation. "Gorenger Storm! Ki!" "Mido!" "Ao!" "Aka!" "Finish!" Black Hair Mask saw the incoming bomb. "Comb Missiles!" He managed to shoot the Gorenger Storm out of the air.
"We'll need to deal with the rest of that comb," Akarenger said, "Mido, destroy it!" "Gladly!," Midorenger said as he activated his Visor Weapon, "Midomerang!" The boomerang took out the last of the comb missiles, shocking Black Hair Mask. "No... My life will end when the comb runs out of teeth!" He cried out in anguish as he fell into the reservoir before exploding. It was a bizarre way to go, but the Gorengers were able to prevent the desertification of Japan. Now they made ready for the next battle against the Black Cross Army.

Yeah, that was kinda weird. Like, what would happen if Black Hair Mask needed to fire off all of his Comb Missiles? Or was he planning on replacing them somehow before it came to that? Either way, another monster down. Read and review.
