Charlie walked into her room and closed her eyes willing the tears not to fall. She didn't understand why she was so upset. She'd been a stupid kid when she'd made that wish. A stupid kid in love with Phil.
"Charlie, can we come in?" Jaycee asked through the door. "We didn't mean to upset you. We just thought it would be fun to see the wish lists."
Charlie sighed and opened the door. "There's a difference in our wishes. Your wishes stand a chance of coming true. Mine never will."
"You don't know that," Lexie said to her. "There is still time for that."
"No there's not. Phil won't marry me. Now I'm pregnant and I'll be bound to him for the rest of my life and nothing worked out the way I thought it would."
"Life never does," Jaycee replied. "You can plan for something but it never works like you think it should. You just have to adjust your plan. Charlie, I know you love my brother and I know he's being stupid. But just because you might not get your happy ending with him. Doesn't you can't with someone else? Not that you should jump into anything. But keep yourself open to it."
"That's why I accepted the date with Ted. Because I've realized it's time to move on."
"Maybe it is," Natalie added. "But don't rush into anything."
"Don't worry I won't. But Teddy is sweet and charming and oh my god is he hot."
All the girls looked at her. "You think he's hot, huh?" Lexie asked.
"Don't you think he's hot?" She asked them.
"Well, I'll admit the man did get hot after high school," Jaycee added.
"He sure did," Natalie said.
"So let's figure out what you're going to wear on your date," Jaycee said.
"You're okay with me dating someone other than Phil."
"Sure. I want you to be happy." Jaycee replied. "So, let's find you something that will knock his socks off." Charlie smiled a little and nodded.
Phil headed over to Randy's house after leaving Jaycee's. He had to talk to someone. He knocked on the door and for him to answer.
"Phil, what's up?" Randy asked opening the door.
"I need to talk."
"Alright. Come in." Randy said stepping aside. "So, what's up?"
"Charlie is going on a date with Ted DiBiase."
"Really?"
"Yeah. They made plans to go out tomorrow." He said sitting down.
Randy looked at him. "Well, I would like to say I'm shocked but she's a beautiful girl and since everything with you and her, she is single."
"Whose side are you on?"
"I'm not taking sides." He replied. "I will not get my wife mad at me." He looked at Phil. "Did you really think she would wait forever? You have been engaged for almost ten years. You're expecting a baby. In the words of my wife, who has said this many times, you should have put a ring on her years ago. You had to know she wouldn't wait forever."
"I fucked up and everyone we know has told me that six ways from Sunday. But to date someone else so soon..."
Randy sighed and sat down by Phil. "Maybe she's just trying to move on and trying to forget how much she's hurting."
"So you don't think she has feelings for him?"
"I can't say for certain but it would be a little fast for her too." He replied.
"I had Nattie buy her wedding dress. The nursery is all together. Now I just have to get her to see how much I love her and how much I want to marry her."
Randy looked at him. "So, you want all of that with her and you haven't told her yet? What are you waiting for?"
"I'm scared."
"Scared of what? Marriage? Kids? What are you scared of?"
"That she won't think I'm serious."
Randy looked at him. "Then you need to make her and do it big." He said. "And Phil, marriage, and family is nothing to be scared of. I love being married and having my kids. It's the greatest feeling."
"Everyone keeps telling me that. And I see what a jackass I've been. I can barely get her to look at me."
"Then you do something big," Randy replied. "Now, why don't you go figure that out and remember, she loved you for over ten years and you loved her just as long. I don't believe this over for you guys."
"Thanks for being the only one in my corner. She's so much a part of who I am. Everything I've ever done has been to impress her."
"Then make it known to her. Do what you have to do." Randy said to him. "Now, go." Phil nodded and headed out.
Randy was right. He had to do this big. He headed home and began to make his plan. He was going to get her back and show her he was ready for everything.
Jaycee and Charlie sat in the living room watching a movie after Natalie and Lexie left. John had called and said he and Ethan would be home soon. "So, where are you and Ted going on your date?" Jaycee asked.
"I don't know. He wants it to be a surprise."
"That's awesome. I miss those surprise dates." She replied.
"You and John have date nights."
"Yeah, but he tells me what we're doing. I would love for him to surprise me." She smiled. "But I guess after almost ten years of marriage, he doesn't have any more surprise left."
"Guess again." She heard from the doorway and turned to see John standing there. He had his hands behind his back. He pulled out a bouquet of flowers from one. "These are for the most beautiful woman in the world and the mother of my son and my little baby to be."
"They're beautiful." She smiled as she took them and kissed him. "Thank you." She tried to see what was in his other hand. "What's that?"
"Nothing for you to worry about right now. It's something I need Charlie's help with." He looked at his sister and then his wife. "Ethan is waiting for you to tuck him in and do the mom things you do."
She laughed and kissed him. "Fine. I'm heading upstairs." She said walking that way.
Once she was gone, Charlie looked at John. "What do you need my help with?"
"I need you to pack a bag and have her at the airport tomorrow. And to watch Ethan for a few days."
"The airport?" She asked him. "What do you have planned? Tell me."
"I'm taking her to the Caribbean for the weekend."
She looked at him and smiled. "You're finally taking her on a real honeymoon? It's about time. You guys have been married almost ten years."
"Thanks." He laughed. "Yes I'm taking her on a real honeymoon. Every trip we have taken since Ethan was born, was a family trip with him. Now I want to take one with my wife only. So, you will watch Ethan?"
"Of course I will."
"Good. Then have her at the airport tomorrow morning at ten. And we will be back in a few days." He looked at her. "She'll like this right? I mean I know things have been stressed lately with her being pregnant and me not one hundred percent on board because of the complications she had with Ethan. Don't get me wrong. I'm excited about another baby but she had such a hard time with Ethan. She almost died. I can't just not think about that. That's why we need this trip. A chance to relax and just enjoy each other alone."
"And you deserve that chance"
"Thanks." He smiled. "So, have her at the airport tomorrow."
"I will. And you guys have fun on this trip." He nodded and headed upstairs. She decided she'd ask Phil if he could take Ethan the next night so she could go on her date with Ted. If he couldn't, then she was sure Natalie or Lexie would keep him for her. She just didn't want to cancel her date.
