HAKUJAKU
Hakujaku slumped in a chair in his office cubicle, bored out of his mind. Everyday for the past three months, he had tried to call Himari but she would never pick up.
Since The Kato-Maeda's declared bankruptcy, a lot of partners dropped all affiliations with them. Now, the only job Hakujaku could get was a boring office job that paid well.
To get his mind off things, Hakujaku decided to called Saburo Yamamoto. The man's son, Eito had disappeared at the wedding without a trace and he was still grieving.
Still, Hakujaku wanted a decent explanation as to why Saburo gave away his shares and refused to do business with them.
{Beep.}
"Saburo, do you have time?"
"Hakujaku, is that you?" he said in a gravelly voice. The man sounded distraught; it was clear that he had been crying.
"Yes, it's me. Look, Saburo, I'm so sorry about Eito. I'm sure that he'l soon turn up alive and well... But could you tell me what happened with you and The Kato's?"
Saburo abruptly stopped himself from speaking. Muzan curse was still intact and prevented him from telling a soul. "...I don't know."
"How is that possible, Saburo? Itsuki said that you called him and said that you refused to work with them!"
"I don't know what you're talking about, Hakujaku. I'm hanging up."
"Wait, before you go—"
{Click.}
Saburo had ended the call and left Hakujaku gaping, dumbfounded.
Something isn't right about this!
The man sat and pondered upon how strange everything was.
Then it hit him.
Saburo gave away his shares which affects the stock market. Maybe if I look in the stock exchange, I'll find out where the shares went!
Hakujaku used his connections to log into Japan's stock exchange network and went through many articles and files. Eventually, he found a strange increase in value of a company from three months ago.
As he analyzed the file, he found that the company was Kobayashi Enterprises.
Kobayashi? ... Tsukihiko!
The more Hakujaku dug through the files, the more he learned about Tsukihiko Kobayashi. He found a photo of a private wedding from two years ago. In the photo was Tsukihiko standing beside a woman named—
Rei Watanabe!
Hakujaku gasped and almost fell out of his seat.
Not only is he an oni, but he's behind the bankruptcy and also married! I've got to tell Himari!
Grabbing his coat, Hakujaku stormed out of the workplace.
HIMARI
Himari awakened in sorrow because of the empty spot in the regal futon.
Good morning to myself, I guess.
After showing, she walked into the kitchen. There, she saw that the fridge and pantry were fully stocked. As she bit into an apple, she saw a note on the counter that read:
"I will be absent for two days.
Love, Tsukihiko."
Himari sighed in displeasure at the news. Once again, the world was taking the only thing she loved away from her.
She walked into the living room to binge on episodes of her favorite show, Deviant Minds.
The news abruptly appeared on the screen and gave a report on a few more incidents involving demons. At the bottom of the screen was an alert about the missing Rei Watanabe and her daughter.
God, there's always something bad happening!
Suddenly, her phone got a call from an unknown number.
{Ring…}
Hesistantly, she accepted the call. "...Hello? Who is this?"
"Himari! It's your father, please don't hang up!"
She rolled her eyes and hovered her thumb over the disconnect button. "What do you want from me now?"
"I have information about Tsukihiko!"
"What do you mean?"
"I found out that he's the one behind us going bankrupt and that he's also married!"
"Fath—Hakujaku, Tsukihiko wouldn't dare do such a thing; he wouldn't hurt a fly! And yes, he was married but his wife died a while back! You're overthinking this, now stay out of my life!"
"Wait, don't hang up yet! I need you to leave wherever you are immediately!"
"Ugh, what are you talking about?"
"Himari, is he there with you?"
"Why do you ask?" she sighed.
"Just tell me!"
"Fine, he's not here! What is wrong with you?"
Hakujaku took a deep breath and said, "Tsukihiko is a demon."
She sat in silence for a few moments then burst into laughter. "Hakujaku, you're ridiculous. If he was an oni, I wouldn't be alive right now! You and your imagination are hilarious."
"At the wedding, his eyes changed before my eyes! You've got to believe me!"
"The demon attacks are making you paranoid, Hakujaku."
"I'm your father and you need to listen to me! You have to esca—"
Before he could finish, Himari hung up. As she went to block the number, she received a few screenshots. Curious, she opened the messages.
In the screenshots were irrefutable proof that Tsukihiko was, indeed, behind the bankruptcy. Himari gaped at the images and felt her stomach churn.
...Tsukihiko, how could you?
TIMESKIP: TWO DAYS
MUZAN
Muzan had spent the last two days in the Dimensional Infinity Fortress. The Demon Lord did his usual routine; conduct experiments, research the Blue Spider Lily, murdering innocents, and torturing and killing lesser demons.
Today, he was particularly happy because he was finally able to see Himari.
I'll be home soon, my little pet.
'Nakime, I'll return soon.'
'Yes, Master.'
The Demon Lord teleported to the human realm and entered his townhouse. It was a little past nine, so there was no doubt that Himari was still awake.
He entered a pitch-black house, but his superior vision let him see just fine. There, he saw Himari sitting in the corner with her head resting upon a pillow.
"Himari, I've returned. Heh, why are you sitting in the dark? Is this a new game you—"
"It was you," Himari said without emotion. She turned on the lamp beside her which caused a shadowy effect that made her face look mysterious and alluring.
Aroused by her behavior, he said, "Himari, what are you talking about?" He turned on the chandelier and slowly approached her.
Himari stood up and backed further away from him.
"Himari, what is it?"
"...You sabotaged Soaku and made her go bankrupt!"
How does she know that?
"Have you been talking to your father?" he sighed.
"That doesn't matter, Tsukihiko! There's actual proof of you doing it!"
"So what?"
"'So what?' You ruined my father's career!"
Walking closer to her, Muzan said, "I ruined your father's career? Himari, his career was ruined once he thought it was a good idea to marry his whale of a wife."
A protruding vein throbbed on his forehead because he didn't appreciate how she was speaking to him. "Besides, you should be thanking me. Those futile acts of rebellion you did weren't even close to justice for yourself."
Himari gasped at his harsh words. The man looked indifferent and dashing in his black cloak, but his words were full of bile.
"I don't want to be here anymore. I can't even look at you right now!" she shrieked. Himari started to leave, but Muzan blocked her from getting any closer to the door.
"Move out of my way!" she shouted.
The Demon Lord gently took her chin and said in a low voice, "Himari, don't you ever raise your voice towards me again."
Himari gazed into his deep maroon eyes that started to turn into a crimson shade. His eyes seemed to glow with the fires of Hell itself.
Something deep down told Himari that she had to run.
Suddenly, Muzan threw the girl to the floor. She crashed to the floor directly on her arm, causing it to break.
{Crack.}
"Ahhh!" she howled in agony. Himari's arm was twisted in a strange position and wouldn't move. Sobbing, she said, "...T- Tsukihiko, w-what are you doing?"
She attempted to lifted herself from the floor, but Muzan kicked her back down. Then he gave her another swift kick to her ribcage.
Himari writhed in a fetal position, sobbing loudly. She looked up and saw him staring at her. "W-why are you doing this to me, T-Tsukihiko? Why—"
"Silence," he boomed. Muzan leaned to her face and ran his fingers through her curly mane.
"Pet, I've condoned your constant whining and unruly behavior for too long but today, that change." He moved even closer to her face, close enough that she felt his cool breath on her skin.
Himari started whimpering and trembling which aroused The Demon Lord even more.
In an act of passion, Muzan took her bottom lip into his mouth. Then he bit down and drew blood from the wound.
The girl started screaming, but Muzan covered her mouth with his, muffling her cries.
When she settled down a little, he released her from his passionate grasp. Muzan touched her lips, admiring how they were stained with her blood.
"Your blood is delicious, pet. This only the beginning," he said, cradling Himari's tear-streaked face.
SOAKU
Soaku laid in her queen sized bed as she missed her California King sized one. Hakujaku was fast asleep beside her, clinging onto the edge with his life.
I hate this life!
Soaku turned to Hakujaku, who was snoring loudly. She watched as his chest rose and fell.
Oh, Haku. I'm ashamed of how I treat you. You work so hard to provide for others. ...I wish I could tell you this, but I can't.
Feeling generous, Soaku moved over and pulled Hakujaku's body onto the bed. Then tucked him into the blanket.
Soon after, Hakujaku stopped snoring as loud.
With a faint smile on her face, Soaku fell asleep.
