Reasons for cancellation:
This is a really old document. You may be wondering why, then, I would consider other documents that were about the same time. This doc was originally written up in 2015 and unlike now, back then I didn't really put any summaries for myself to continue off of when ideas jumped in my head but I didn't want to continue them at the moment. So, because of that, I have no idea where I wanted to go with this idea. You can see the setup, that being Quiet being an adoptive mother, but then after that there's nothing. This is the primary reason why this is being dropped into the Scrapyard. I still think the concept itself has merit, after all there's an author on this website whose most widespread series of stories is this concept; it's just that I have no idea where I would want to go with this. Let me know what you think of all this and where you think it should go if I were to pick it back up, or take it on yourself if you so desire to.
See you in whatever I do next.

Hello everyone and welcome to another plotbunny of mine. Now I'm new to the MGS universe as my full actual experience with it has been Phantom Pain, though I do intend at some point to play the rest of the series, however I am fully aware that this franchise is a very beloved series if sales are anything to go by. That being said, I hope that this plotbunny does good by you guys and if I get anything in lore wrong PLEASE DON'T BE AFRAID TO CORRECT ME as I only have access to YouTube let's plays as well as cutscenes and the MGS wiki as well. It's to be expected that I will miss something sooner or later.
That being said I love the Metal Gear series though all I've actually played is the Phantom Pain. All the randomness, great story, and all the characters. "So, what is this pilot?" you may be asking. Well I do love the character of Quiet. Well I love the others too, even the villains as well, but just the character of Quiet is just great, especially her history. Hence the reason why she will be taking a role in this pilot story. Your responses are what will make me consider either continuing the story, or leaving it as a pilot story.
That being said, if you really liked this and hope that it continues, please go ahead and favorite/follow this. If you don't like it, I won't blame you, but please don't flame, it's unbecoming; just go back, close the tab, or close the window that you're viewing this in. That's all I have to say about that, but before you actually read anything: disclaimers.
Disclaimer: I own nothing except my laptop and my copy of MS Word. The Metal Gear series belongs to Konami and Hideo Kojima. Harry Potter belongs to JK Rowling, the Warner Brothers, and Scholastic books. All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. The events depicted in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. Any other products, characters, or lines from other series that may appear also belong to their respective owners.
SPOILER ALERT! There are spoilers for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in this story. If you haven't played the game, or even watched a let's play or read up on the story on the Metal Gear wiki, please bookmark this for later and when you've seen the ending of the game (either by playing, watching, or reading) come on back and read this.

1200 hours. May 20, 1988. Surrey.
She didn't know why she was here, why she was drawn towards this specific place of civilization. Obviously if she did in fact know she wouldn't be wandering the streets looking for what brought her here. She knew it wasn't the architecture, as she had no interest in such things, but then again Angola and Afghanistan didn't have much in the way of anything interesting to look at. This place was even more so than that, and that was saying something coming from someone who lived in a converted oil rig for an extended period of time. She knew it wasn't war as there weren't child soldiers fighting in the streets nor were there foreign soldiers patrolling the streets. No, she was drawn here for another reason, one that she hadn't figured out as to why yet. However, one of the cookie cutter houses she stood in front of looked promising.
She walked slowly towards the house with her trusty rifle Wicked Butterfly in a carrying case, ignoring the scathing looks that some most of the residents were giving her for her choice of dress; it's not like she ready had that much of a choice, it was either dress scantily or suffocate slowly. She thought about how she got there. A week earlier she had left the legendary Big Boss in Afghanistan after being captured. They fought against the Russians and their armored vehicles until their ammunition had run dry. Then she had taken a tank shell for the Boss, only to have him sneak her out during a sandstorm, evading Russian patrols. However, roles were reversed when Snake was bitten by his namesake. She, for the first time in her life since the parasite therapy, spoke English to direct Pequod towards their position. She had defied orders from Skull Face, the leader of XOF, Cipher's elite task force, which in reality was a front for Major Zero's splinter group of the Patriots, to kill Big Boss. She had EVERY opportunity to do so, but didn't. She could have escaped the cell the placed her in at any time. She could have killed him in the field immediately after their helicopter left eyesight. She could have intentionally botched any number of missions he took her on, but all in all she didn't. They had somehow forged an unspoken friendship, a bond only 'brothers' in arms can have, and yet she could not break that bond to follow orders to kill him. The Boss had saved her and changed her world view, and for that she was grateful.
Cipher, XOF, the Patriots, the Philosophers, they fought for world domination from the shadows. They wanted control at the expense of everyone that for in their way. Diamond Dogs, the Boss, Miller, Ocelot, and the rest, they fought for ideals. The Boss could have killed those kids in the mine to complete the contract, but instead he faked their deaths to bring them to Mother Base. Big Boss, Venomous Snake, was a man of integrity and his actions showed that.
