Chapter 17!
It was so nice to see the favourite seasons of Ninjago for my readers...I love how interactive you guys are! Now, onto the story!
After saying their proper goodbyes to Zane, who encouraged them to ask for his help whenever needed, the ninja returned to the Bounty. Upon entering the base, Nya ran up to them, looking terrified.
" Guys! Mo ran off and I looked everywhere for him! He's not responding to my calls! We have to-" She stopped, finally noticing Mo standing beside Kai. " Oh."
"Sorry to worry you, Nya. I just followed them and gave Maya quite a scare." He chuckled, and Nya gasped when she saw her future daughter soaking wet. But, moments later, even she was suppressing giggles.
"Don't ask." Maya stormed through the door, pushing poor Liam out of the way, and slammed the door when she reached her room. Unfortunately, she shared a room with Gila, who was resting in the room at the time. Gila got scared, and, much like Dareth when he got scared, went to defender mode, spraying Maya with a bunch of sand. The nina heard a scream, and Gila ran out of the girl's room, also soaked with her hair standing on end.
"Did she blast you?" Master Kai asked.
"Yea, but I accidentally covered her in sand, so, I guess it's only fair."
Everyone groaned, knowing Maya is going to be so mad when she is cleaned up. Falling into a freezing stream, getting covered in snow, then sand, leaves a very unhappy Maya.
"Just leave her be for a bit. She'll get over it." Lloyd said, making his way to the control room to put away the tea.
Nya watched Lloyd as he left, glad that they were one step closer to stopping Cliff Gordon, and eventually getting home. She knew that messing with time was dangerous, but couldn't help wishing Maya and the others could see the past. A ninja team who was young, for Maya, a father who never lost his memory.
"How's Jay?" Kai asked l, interrupting her thoughts. It took Nya a while to remember that the Jay he was referring to was the older one, not the Jay Walker she was just thinking about.
"He's fine, just tired. I think he might be awake, if you wanted to go see him."
"Thanks." Kai responded. Even though Maya had given a very quick explanation about Nadakhan, Kai understood that it was because of Jay his sister was alive. He couldn't thank his Jay anytime soon, so he just had to be happy with thanking the one he had.
When Kai reached the room Jay and Master Kai now shared, he knocked on the door, then entered, not waiting for a response. Kai hoped Jay was dressed. Luckily, he was.
" Hey, Jay, how are you feeling?"
"Better than before. How did it go?"
"Well...I…I found out about Nadakhan." Jay's eyes widened, likely remembering how the past Kai reacted to the story. But, before he could say a word, the Bounty's alarm sounded. Kai frantically made his way to the control room, Jay close behind, trying not to slow because of his wounds. When the two arrived, Maya pushed Jay into a seat, the blue ninja looking as if he was going to faint.
" Maya… I'm fine. What's going on?" Jay said, trying to hide the fact he wanted to sleep then and there.
" The Time Twins are attacking my home village!" Liam screamed, clearly panicking.
" I've set our course, but it's going to take some time to get there. We might miss it." Gila said, feeling defeated.
The time crawled by; each ninja doing their own this to pass the time. Mo was constantly interchanging between his human and wolf form, too nervous to stay in one form. Gila and Keith were like a mirror image as they paced around the room, constantly looking at the time of arrival on the screen. The adults, minus Jay, were creating a plan on what to do when they arrived, if there were still villains to fight. Maya and Liam, claiming that they needed the strength to fight, were eating the leftover cake from a couple of nights ago, Liam barely tasting it, and too worried for his family, his friends, to care. Andy stares out the window, looking out for the village. Jay was the only one who seemed at peace, as he sat in the chair and slept. Finally, Andy spotted the village ahead, a tiny blob in the distance, but as a precious sight as light after the darkness.
" Were here! Everyone get ready!" With that, the Bounty burst to life. Everyone grabbed their weapons, and ran out onto the deck. Nya noticed Jay also preparing to fight.
" Jay Walker! There is no way you are fighting in the condition you are in! You can guard the ship." Jay laughed, and waved a large metal rod at her, something that Nya had just noticed. It was silver with his lightning symbol engraved in the middle.
" What is that? Are you going to fight with a glorified baton? Please tell me this is a joke." She responded, very confused at what the future Jay was attempting.
Jay shook his head. " Oh, nothing...nothing more than the COOLEST THING TO EVER EXIST!" With that, Jay jumped off of the flying ship, screaming with amusement. Before Nya could jump after him, a familiar blue jet shot above her. Jay, from the inside, waved at her with a grimace, and motioned for her to turn on her coms. When she did, she could hear his voice loud and clear.
"Mr. Borg made each of the ninja a baton that could change into their original elemental vehicle. " He said, "If I can't fight, I can fly. I'll meet you there." With that, he flew off.
Nya, along with the rest of the ninja, soon joined him, jumping off of the Bounty and creating their elemental dragons.
As they landed at the village, people were screaming as Vermillion Warriors ran about, stealing random objects that had no use. The ninja began to defend the people from the snakes, while Sensei Lloyd and Master Kai ran ahead, with the younger Kai taking a separate route, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Time Twins themselves, or even Cliff Gordon. Jay, in the skies, shot large groups of the Vermillion with lightning, slowing them down. It seemed like there were hundreds of them.
Kai was running through the streets of Cole's hometown, he could tell he was nearing Cole father's house, but chose not to think too much about it. Soon, Kai saw a figure being thrown through the sky, going too fast to catch. Kai managed to take shelter behind a building before whoever was thrown landed on the roof of Cole's father's house, collapsing the building. Kai could hear a soft groan, and when the rubble had settled, Kai ran over, searching for the victim.
Kai found them under a very heavy piece of wood, and before Kai could try to take it off, they themselves threw it off. Kai smiled when he saw the familiar, but older face, of his friend Cole.
Out of all the ninja he had seen in this time, Cole had changed the most. His hair was longer, constantly going into his eyes. Instead of it being pure black, flecks of gray were seen within it, but his age did not hinder the obvious strength he still had. If anything, Cole had gotten stronger over the years.
"Kai? How are you so young? You haven't been drinking Tomorrow's Tea, have you?" Cole interrupted his thoughts, staring strangely at the young ninja with curiosity. Kai foolishly realized he had not put his black ninja gi on or his mask, revealing a very young looking Kai, fully clothed in red.
" Long story short, I'm from the past. Nya's here too. Are you okay?"
Cole did not seem very shocked. " That makes sense. Am I okay...?" He responded, looking through the rubble. Eventually, he picked up a silver scythe, blowing the dust off of it. "Now I am. Now, let's go get the Time Twins!"
"Kai, come in!" Sensei Lloyd said through the coms. "The Time Twins are in the middle of town, beside the local restaurant. Gordon's here too. We could really use a hand."
"Cole and I are on our way!" Kai responded, running towards the middle of town. Or, what he thought was the middle of town. Cole laughed.
"Other way, Kai!"
When they got to the fight, it was chaos all around. The younger ninja were defending the villagers from the constant force of the Vermillion Warriors, while the older ninja attacked, Krux, Acronix, and Cliff. The two newcomers to the battle could hear the sound of airbattle around them, as Jay fought off the snakes who had acquired flying machinery.
"Since when could they fly? Wait, is that Jay?!" Cole yelled, shocked. Sensei Lloyd looked at him for a split second before focusing on fighting Krux once again.
"You've missed a lot." He said, panting. Kai and Cole joined in, Kai facing Acronix with his sister, Cole helping Master Kai fight Cliff. Maya was already assisting Lloyd with Acronix.
" Help! They're too strong!" Liam yelled, attempting to defend three civilians from five Vermillion. Cole ran to his son's side, swinging his scythe with the force only he could muster, turning the enemy into smaller snakes.
"Dad!" Laim said. After quickly wrapping his dad in a hug, he ran to join Andy in fighting more snakes, who was highly appreciative for the help. The young nindroid had already sustained some heavy blows.
" I called Zane, I don't think we are going to get out of this easily!" Master Kai yelled, dodging a sword strike from Cliff. Boy, Jay was right. Cliff Gordon really is fast, Master Kai thought to himself. His eyes widened when he remembered the key to taking down Jay's father. The tea. They forgot it on the Bounty! Frantically, he called Jay on the coms. He was the only one who could possibly get the tea anytime soon.
" Jay! You have to retrieve the Tomorrow's Tea from the Bounty! It's our only hope in defeating your father!"
" I'm a little busy at the moment!" Jay responded as he weaved in between taller buildings, hoping to get the Vermillion off of his tail. Two of the enemies' vehicles crashed, missing the maneuver. Before Jay could celebrate, he realized there was one still tailing him. Circling around to do the same maneuver but lower to the ground, Jay looped around the center of town and saw the team losing. He had to get that distracted, the Lightning Ninja did not realize that a missile from the Vermillion's vehicle was headed right for him. He jerked the streaming wheel up, hoping to dodge it in time. Unfortunately, it was a following missile.
Jay's breath caught in his throat, and it seemed like time slowed down. He could not die, not now that he just got it back. He had to live, for Maya, for Nya. He knew what he had to do, but had no clue if he could do it in time. He could only hope.
I'm glad you are all liking Mo more now...the demand for his mother to be Akita was very high...and, don't worry! I will have more scenes involving future Cole!
Stay safe and stay tuned!
