Chapter 17: Friend from the past
(A/N: Hi all, I am writing this to make it clear that yes there would be 18 frontier brains but after the competition, for now, there would be only Sinnoh and Hoenn frontier brains making the challengers to challenge 13 frontier brains. So challengers have to challenge 13 frontier brains only for the Unova/ Kalos battle frontier competition )
Back at Striaton city a kid with a Pikachu on his shoulder enters the gym
"Hello, is anyone here" asked the kid
"I am here to challenge the striaton city gym leader for the badge" said the kid
"Welcome to Striaton city gym, " said the Cilan while Jessie, James , Meowth, Max, May, Dawn are looking at the new challenger
"But there are already few people lined up for the battle" said Cilan
"Cilan you can battle him, we are waiting for Gary and Ash to arrive" said Max
"Did you just say Ash, as in Ash Ketchum from Pallet town in Kanto" asked the kid
"Yes, " said May
"You know him," asked Max
"Yes he was my opponent in the indigo league" said Ritchie
"Ritchie we are sorry," said James
"And who are you" asked Ritchie
"We are the same three people who
stole your pokemon in the indigo league" said Meowth
"You,how dare you.You know you tried to commit a crime " said Ritchie in anger as sparky started to release the sparks.
"Ritchie they are changed, they left the team rocket" said May
"Oh I see, so where is Ash," asked Ritchie
"He is of to somewhere for important task' said Max
" I will wait, until Ash arrives" said Ritchie as he started to get along with others.Ritchie's sparky started to get associated with two pikachu's.
"So Ash, let's have a one on one battle, I want to see how strong you have become, Barry always speak highly of you," said Palmer
"Are you ready" asked referee
"You bet, I am and I know whom to send out," said Ash
"Mine pokemon will send your pokemon to hell Ash," declared palmer confidently
"Think before saying palmer, " said Ash
"Ash seems confident," said Scott
"You haven't seen anything about new Ash, he even defeated the team plasma alone," said Gary shocking everyone
"Send your pokemon out," said referee
"Tyrantrum on to the battlefield," said Palmer sending pokeball in the air after which giant trex appeared
"All hail grimlock, because age of extinction is near," declared tyrantrum making Ash and his pokemon sweatdropped
"This tyrantrum sure have some identity issues," said Lucario
"yeah, he think that he is a dinobot from transformers franchise," said Ash
'"Sonarlax on to the battlefield," said Ash releasing his pokemon
"Ash's snorlax is sure looking strong and slim," said Charles putting more emphasis on last word.
"Let the battle begin," said Referee
"Tyrantrum use dragon pulse," said Palmer
"Snorlax counter with water pulse," commanded Ash
"Sure Ash," said Snorlax while others could hear only name of snorlax
"Tyrantrum.." roared tyrantrum as he launched powerful dragon pulse
"Snor" said Snorlax as he released a powerful water pulse racing towards the tyrantrum
Both attacks collided resulting in explosion
"Tyrantrum use dragon claw," said Palmer
"ice claw and thunder claw ," said Ash
"Ice claw and thunder claw, is that a new move ," asked Palmer
"Yes, I have another versions too," reolied Ash as tyrantrum charged at snorlax with dragon claw while snorlax prepared the two claws attacks and countered the dragon claw which again resulted into explosion
"Ok snorlax let's stop playing around and finish this with siesmic toss," said Ash
"Forget it Ash,tyrantrum is heavier than you think," said Palmer
"You think so," said Ash raising his eyebrows as snorlax disappeared and reappear behind tyrantrum with such a speed and grabbed his tail and with full power he lift tyrantrum in the air and swing him 360 degrees and slammed him on the ground.Tyrantrum lost his huge segment of his health and so is snorlax.
"How is that even possible, tyrantrum's weight is more than snorlax," said everyone in shock
"Ok snorlax use full power shadowbeam" said Ash as snorlax released full power beam made out of pure shadow which strike Tyrantrum knocking him out instantly.Snorlax is panting heavily too.
"Nice work snorlax," said Ash as he touched snorlax and then he used heal pulse to restore snorlax's health
"Return buddy," said Ash as he recall snorlax back inside the pokeball
Palmer was shocked, how come snorlax could lift a giant t-rex." Return, nice work" all he said as he recalled his fainted pokemon back inside the ball
"Ash you have become stronger than ever,I can see your strength, the positivity and confidence you emit," said Charles goodshow
"Thanks Mr.Goodshow" replied Ash as he handshaked with Charles and other brains
"I want you to win the league this time, and frontier league challenge as well," said Palmer
"You bet, that is what I am here for," replied Ash
"Ash and Gary we have a special item for you guys," said Scott as he showed them two bands
"These are special bands and by using this you can change your pokemon's form either to dynamax and gigantamax variants" said Scott
"Gigantamax and Dynamax" asked both trainers
"Yes, a phenomenon where pokemon go extremely huge with some variation resulting into strength and power increase " said goodshow
"That's cool, can we see that," asked Gary
"Yes, why not, at least you should know how to use that thing," said Anabel
"Shall I" asked Anabel as she showed Ash her band
"Listen, red side is for dynamaxing and blue for gigantamaxing," said Anabel
"Hmm hmm," replied Ash
"Wait before you continue, I want to ask, Ash are you aware of mega evolution," asked Spencer
"Yeah, actually I can mega evolve my pokemon but without megastone, with my aura, mega stones work in same way," replied Ash that shocked everyone including Gary
"Spoiled brat" Gary cursed Ash under his breath
"I heard that Gary," replied Ash
"We want to see," said Charles Goodshow
"Okay then, how about with Lucario" asked Ash sending his Lucario out
"Ash I have never seen such a strong looking Lucario." said Brandon completely shocked at Lucario who is standing at five feet six inches.
"No," said Ash before he closed his eyes, Ash and Lucario then both Ash and Lucario started to emit energy that fused after which Lucario started to glow and then his appearance started to change. Lucario then changed into the mega Lucario.
"No way, mega lucario without stone" said every one in shock after which Ash recalled Lucario back to the pokeball.
"So continuing towards the demo of the maxband first of all you have to recall your pokemon in the pokeball if already out or take any of the pokeball.Then press on whichever form you need , dynamax or gigantamax then your pokeball will become huge and then throw it like you do normally," said Anabel
"I will give you a demo," said Anabel as everyone get aside as she picks one of her pokeball and then she pressed the red side after which the capsule got enlarged and she throws it in the air.
From the capsule emerged the espeon and then she started to grow until she is twenty one times larger than her actual size.
"Hello " said Espeon
"This is dynamaxed espeon," said Anabel
"Hey espeon over here," said Ash but this was his big mistake as she looked at Ash and pikachu for a while and then she lowered her head down and licked both Ash and pikachu, saliva from her mouth completely soaked Ash and pikachu.
"That would be cute if espeon licked us while she was of normal size." Ash complained making everyone laughed
"One more thing Ash and Gary ,all pokemon can Dynamax while certain individuals of certain species can Gigantamax." said Spencer
"That's amazing," said Ash in excitement
"Now Ash you have to see yourself which pokemon can gigantamax and you can use this only in battles plus it lasts for three turns, so use it wisely " said Scott
"Well, I believe I don't have to use it but I will make sure not to misuse this in any way," said Ash
"We believe in you" replied everyone
"Okay everyone, we have to go," said Ash to which everyone nodded and bid farewell to Ash
"Let's go Gary," said Ash to which they nodded
xxx 4:00 P.M xxx
Ash and Gary are flying on the charizard.
"Hey Gary, aren't we lucky to get these bands," asked Ash as he stretched his fist in the air, sunlight reflected from the surface of the band onto his face.
"Yes, infact this trip is fruitful as we got to know what is the plan of the frontier brains," replied Gary
"Hey Ash, what would you do once you wins battle frontier and unova league," asked Gary
"Well, I will visit kalos region and may be I would try kalos league," replied Ash
"So should we try dynamaxing in the gym battles," asked Gary
"No, unless it is required" replied Ash as he heard the noise of the helicoptor rotors as a hyperbeam passed Ash and Gary.Since Ash sensed the threat, he created a barrier in the range of ten meters and hyperbeam hits the shield.
"Team plasma, you guys won't stop following us,do you," asked Ash
"Well Ash ketchum, we have seen your past records stored with our other fellow business partners in kanto,johto,hoenn and sinnoh and I must say that you are quite good at interfaring with their plans to make this world a better place," said the colress
"Yeah,their plans to make this world better place, but just for themselves," said Ash in angry tone
"You think that, well, you are wrong, we are well wisher of this earth and we remove trainers like you so that you don't catch any more pokemon for your own greed," replied Colress
"Our own greed, then why you are carrying pokemon, " asked Ash
"Well, no comments," said Colress as he started to fire bullets
"You won't stop hurting us" asked Ash as he stands on the back of charizard facing the helicopters cupping his hands in front of him and then started to glow, concentrated energy between his hands and launched a powerful aura beam that splits into multiple beams and hit helicopters, smoke started to emit from the rotors before crashing on to the ground.Gary is shocked on how Ash can do this.Colress and the grunts can be seen ejecting out of cockpit and landed on the field
"Gary back to the striaton city while I handle these guys said Ash as he jumped of the charizard and landed on the field unhurted.Charizard take Gary back to the Striaton city
" Don't be late Ash, " said Gary before charizard flew towards the striaton city.
Once Ash landed he spotted colress with his grunts and the shadow triad too.
"Well Colress, you didn't learned your lessons huh, " asked Ash
"Ash you are an interesting subject, an aura user, a psychic user and legendary tamer.Just amazing but we want you to liberate your Pokemon, let them be free, " said Colress
"Not at all, not for the people like you, you want to take over on this world and only threat you face is strong trainers and by in the name of liberalization you want to remove the forces that will stop you, but I will not let that happen as long as I am here in unova region. " said Ash
Colress laughed hard and said " You are certainly smart too, yes we want to remove the threats of the trainers and take over this region."
"Ok but first of all, shadow triad destroy this kid, " said Colress
"Sure, " said the leader as his body covered in shadowy aura and launched the blast of dark aura
Ash smirked and then he glowed blue and white and blocked the attack sending it back to the shadow triad member.
"Pathetic" said shadow triad as the trio disappeared and appeared in front of Ash landing the punch on him sending him crashing into the tree nearby.Ash then disappeared before he could crash into the tree and appeared above shadow traid and launched the powerful punch sending the main leader skidding on the field Then two other shadow triad attacked Ash which he stopped and then he formed aura shuriken covered in electricity and send it at the shadow triad.
"Great, these ninjas think they are awsome " said as Ash as he closed his eyes and then one member came from behind and tried to hit Ash but Ash then turned and countered with the fist and than landed a rolling kick in the abdomen sending it flying into the air.Then two members appeared in front and back of Ash and strikes him.Ash then blocked the attacks and then threw the two aura spheres that sends the two members kocking into the tree.Ash is standing in middle with the three shadow triad members surrounding him.
"You are not bad, a good fighter" said the leader of shadow triad
"Shadow triad let's go back, we will settle this some day later" said the colress
"We will come back to you kid," said the leader of shadow triad
"Going back that early already, " asked Ash
Shadow triad member turned at Ash and then released a low growl before they retreat back
Once the trio is out of the sight Ash said to pikachu " I think we should go back"
"Yes, " said Pikachu as both Ash and pikachu teleported away
Back in the Straiton city gym the group is having fun.
"So Ash is reckless as ever " said Ritchie
"Yeah, he don't think before act" said Gary
"So that is the same charizard that Ash owns" asked Ritchie
"Yes, " said May
"But in Indigo league he didn't listened Ash at all" said Ritchie
"Yes, but he and Ash are best team ever" said Max
"Speaking of Ash, where is he and why he didn't come back with you" said asked Dawn
"Well shadow triad attacked us and he stayed back to fight them" said Gary
"He can fight, " asked Ritchie in curious look
"Yes, he is changed a lot" said Max
"By the way, your Pikachu is looking great, " said Gary
"It shows how great you are taking care of your pokemon, " said Dawn
"Dawn did Paul and Barry challenged this gym or not" asked Gary
"They are training before challenging gym" replied Dawn
Meanwhile Ash and Pikachu teleported outside the gym and walked inside.
"Hey guys, did everyone challenged the gym or not" asked Ash
"Not yet, first another person is going to challenge gym first" said Gary pointing at Ritchie
"Hi Ritchie, nice to see you again" said Ash as he remembered his indigo league friend
"Ash, is that you.Dude, you are merely recognisable" said Ritchie
"Thanks, but you didn't changed at all.Same old Ritchie" said Ash as he gave Ritchie a hug
"And Sparky you are looking stronger too" said Ash
"But Ash, you got stronger as well, look at your built up" said Ritchie
"Ash it's time to fulfil your promise, a promise that you made a long time ago" said Ritchie as Ash picks one pokeball
"Cilan we both wanted to have a two on two battle, if you don't mind" asked Ash
"No problem, but please don't destroy the field" said Cress to which Ash nodded
Ritchie sends staraptor, and Ash sends his vaporeon.
"Staraptor vs Valoreon let the battle begin" said Cilan
"Staraptor use quick attack,Vaporeon hudro pump" said Ash
Staraptor charged at Vaporeon with quick attack.Vaporeon on other hand summons massive orb of water in front of it and launched a massive stream of water.Staraptor dodged the attack and strikes vaporeon but it didn't make vaporeon push back by a single inch.
"No way, " said Dawn
"Now use ice blade " said Ash as the blades like energy formed on head of the vaporeon which started to convert in ice and then vaporeon used quick attack and within seconds vaporeon slashed through staraptor leads to unconscious staraptor.The blades disappears from vaporeon's head.
"Staraptor is unable to battle , vaporeon wins" said Cilan.Vaporeon then leapt at Ash and then started to lick Ash.
(A/N: Yes, Ash defeated Ritchie in few minutes, but he trained for more than ten years in alternate dimension.So yeah, he is pretty overpowered)
"Aerial return" said Ritchie
"Vaporeon, return for now" said Ash as he recalled his pokemon.
"That was quick Ash" said Ritchie
"Thanks, but I believe this is because my pokemon are strong.Your pokemon are strong, your staraptor is strong.The quick attack was strong." said Ash
"Now my next pokemon is " said Ritchie as Sparky jumped of his shoulders and glared Ash
"You choose your pikachu, then " said Ash as pikachu jumped of his shoulders
"A battle between pikachu" said Cilan
"Pikachu vs Pukachu let the battle begin," said Cilan
"Sparky start with quick attack,show them your speed" said Ritchie
"Pikachu show your real speed," said Ash as pikachu darted at sparky and within second pikachu is behind sparky.No one can believe the speed of pikachu.
"Pikachu can run with the speed of light, in fact my heavy pokemon are as fast as pidgeot" said Ash making a shocking revelation
"Sparky use mega punch" said Ritchie
"Pikachu use electric whip into force palm" said Ash
"Electric whip, is that even an attack" asked Dawn
"We don't know" said May and Max
Sparky is running towards Pikachu with the glowing fist. Pikachu on other hand stood on all of his four legs and glowed after which multiple aura whips covered in electricity formed and released from the back of Pikachu and binded sparky and pulled sparky towards him and charged force palm
"Sparky get out of there" said Ritchie but it is of no use and sparky got near Pikachu, Pikachu then used force palm sending Sparky flying in the air
"Sparky get up buddy, and use volt tackle" said Ritchie
"Pikachu absorb electricity from volt tackle and use full power mega punch " said Ash
Pikachu extends his both arms and waited before sparky collided with him.Once sparky strikes Pikachu, sparky pushed Pikachu back and ultimately stopped by Pikachu.Pikachu started to glowed blue and absorbed the volt from volt tackle that shocked sparky and Ritchie and everyone who is watching the battle.Pikachu's fist then glowed white and strikes sparky sending it crashing into the wall knocking it out instantly.Thank god that sparky is alive.
"Sparky unable to battle, Pikachu wins" declared Cilan
"Nice job Pikachu" said Ash as Pikachu returned back to Ash's shoulder
"pika" said Sparky as he stood back
"Ritchie you are strong and your Pokemon too, I can sense the power of your Pokemon." said Ash
Now let me heal sparky" said Ash as he touched sparky after which sparky started to glow blue and his wounds started to disappear.Sparky is feeling good
"Thanks" said Sparky
"Ash what was that, " asked Ritchie
"Aura, aura healing" said Ash
"But Ash how did you become so stronger" asked Ritchie
"Training " said Ash
Next day everyone challenged for gym battles.Iris,Max, Garry, James and Ritchie. Paul and Barry challenged the gym too and put them in the queue.Cilan, Cress, and Chillie offered one on one battle.The battles lasted for three hours where Iris challenged Cilan and Iris lost, to Cilan in a battle.Iris decided that she had to improve her battling skills.Then Gary battled Cilan where Gary used Arcanine which defeated Cilan's pansage with sunny day, extremespeed,fireblast and solar power gaining the first unovan gym badge.
Then comes Max who is up against the Chilli.
"This is a one on one battle between Chilli and Max." said Cilan
"Darmatian go" said Chilli sending his fire type
"Go Gllade" said Max sending his psychic and fighting type
"Gallade vs Darmanitan let the battle begin" said Cilan
"Darmanitan start with hammer arm!" said Chilli.Darmanitan obeyed and charged at Gallade with arm glowing white
"Gallade use teleport and use close combat" said Max as Gallade teleported away and appeared behind Darmanitan and started to assault it with close combat.Darmanitan is dodging the attack with precision.
Ash is observing the battle closely, being close combat on fire type is too risky because of the attacks like flame charge , flame wheel and flame charge.
"Darmanitan charge up the flame wheel but don't use it" said Chilli
"I know what you are planning, Gallade use teleport and then use dazzling gleam" said Max as Gallade teleported away and started to charge dazzling gleam by forming a pink sphere of fairy energy and then teleported above the darmanitan and released the attack.
Darmanitan dodged the dazzling gleam and shoot towards Gallade with flame wheel.
"Gallade use protect and use psycho cut" said Max
Gallade formed the blue dome, flame wheel connected with the protect and meanwhile Gallade prepared for the psycho cut, once flame wheel decimated protect, Gallade releases a pink crescent-like blade of energy from his head towards the Daanitan sending it crashing on the field knocking it out instantly.
"Darmanitan is unable to battle, Gallade wins, winner of this battle is Max from Hoenn region" declared referee
"Next challenger is James from Kanto region," said Cilan "This will be a one on one battle between Chilli and James for the gym badge
" Go, Heatmor" said Chilli releasing his new pokemon as Ash searched for the pokemon in pokedex.
"Cacnea battle time," said James sending his grass type and when cacnea came out it hugs James making the spikes of cacnea pierce him.
"Cacnea we have a battle to finish," said James as Cacnea faced his opponent.
"Why James is sending his Cacnea" asked Dawn
"True, he is vulnerable to fire type" said Max
"I believe in him, even if he didn't win he can at least do greater damage to heatmor" said Jessie
"Cacnea vs heatmor let the battle begin" said Cilan
"Heatmor use fire lash" said Chilli
"Cacnea use pin missile," said James
Heatmor released a lash of fire towards Cacnea.The spikes on Cacnea's arms glow white and shoots arrow-shaped streams of pins at the heatmor.
Some of the arrow shaped pins strikes fire lash and other pins hit heatmor sending it skidding backwards.
"Heatmor use fireblast" said Chilli
"Cacnea use sandstorm and add pin missile to it" said James
Cacnea started to spin on one foot, releasing a tornado of sand and sending it at the Heatmor.With sandstorm cacnea released the pin missile that hit heatmor but heatmore can accurately see its opponent and launched fireblast that strikes cacnea knocking it back into the wall.
"Cacnea, can you battle," asked James to which it nodded
James smirked and said "Now use leech
seed, take cover of sand storm" said James as cacnea disappeared in the sandstorm and then use leech seed that made everyone smile.
"James you are now thinking as a battler," said Ash to himself with a smile on his face as Cacnea disappeared into sandstorm and launched leech seed and then landed in fromt of James after which heatmor started to glow red which is a signal that the energy is getting drained up
"Heatmor use flare blitz" said Chilli as heatmore engulfed in flames that not only destroyed the leech seed and then charged at cacnea
"Cacnea use seed bomb, " said James as cacnea launched the large seeds towards heatmor which strikes heatmore and then exploded throwing heatmore back.
"Now finish with magical leaf" said James
as cacnea releases multiple light green glowing leaves from its body at the heatmor.
"Heatmore use overheat" said Chilli after which the heatmor released the intense flames that engulfed the magical leaf burning them, and then engulfed cacnea.
"Cacnea no" said James but Ash he started to smile
"This will be over guys, " said Ash making everyone confused
Cacnea is now fighting hard to endure overheat until it started to feel the surge of power and started to glow.A stream of white light emitted from inside of overheat and then cacnea started to grow in size.After a while there stood Cacturne
"Cacturne " said Cacturne as heatmor stopped the attack.
"Cacturne use pin missile" said James but cacturne instead glowed black and strikes heatmor and knocked it backwards. James learned that cacturne learned new moves.
"Cacturne finish this with magical leaf and seadbomb" said James as cacturne release magical leaf and seed bomb that strikes heatmor knocking it out instantly.
"Heatmor unable to battle, Cacturne wins" said Cilan making everyone cry in joy
"Cacturne your first battle and you won, " said James as Cacturne happily turn and gave James a painful hug
"I got it that you are happy, but can you leave me now" asked James at which it stopped hugging him and then James gave a gentle pet on it's head
"Return for now, will send you out later on" said James as he recalled his pokemon back
"Nice work James" said Ash via telepathy to James as he turned back to Ash and returns a smile.
"James you did great, and compatibility between you and your pokemon is great" commented Cilan
"Thanks," said James
After that came Paul who callenged Cress and managed to defeat his water type with his Electrivire in one move.
"Paul never changes, same old Paul" Dawn sighed
"Yeah, he don't like to wait at all" said Ash knowing the attitude of Paul when it comes to battle.Then came Barry who
sends his steelix.The battle between the two was fierce.Cress's panpour was not an easy target.Panpour dodging skills were amazing and smaller size as compared to the steelix.After fierce battle between two, steelix managed to defeat panpour.Steelix also got tired in the process.
"Steelix return" said Barry recalling his pokemon back.
Now it comes a time for Ritchie to battle,"
This is a one on one battle between Ritchie from Johto region and gym leader Cilan " said Cress
"Pansage go" said Cilan releasing his grass type
"Grass type," said Ritchie as he released his ninetales and as soon as ninetales enters the temperature started to increase.
"That's too hot here" said Max
"That's because of Ninetales ability ,drought" said Gary
"nine " said Ninetales
"Ninetales vs Pansage let the battle begin," said Cress
"Pansage start with bullet seed," said Cilan
"Ninetales use quick attack with agility" said Ritchie.As pansage launched bullet seed Ninetales dodged bullet seed with agility while using quick attack and slammed into pansage sending it knocked into the wall.Pansage came back to it's spot and waited for the next command.
"Pansage bind Ninetales using vine whip" said Cilan as pansage released vines
"Ninetales take the attack " said Ritchie as she nodded and let pansage bind her.
"Now use hypnosis," said Ritchie as pansage fell into the trap and pansage is put to sleep with hypnosis
"No," said Cilan in worry
"Ninetales use incinerate," said Ritchie as she shoots beam of orange, yellow, red, and black fire at pansage knocking it out instantly.
"Pansage is unable to battle, Ninetales wins.The winner for this gym battle is Ritchie making him rightful winner of trio badge" declared cress
"Ninetales you did nice job," said Ritchie as he recalled her back
"Ritchie you did nice job, the hypnosis really took me out" said Cilan
"For all the winner, we present you the trio badge ," said Cilan giving Gary,Barry,Max, James,Ritchie,Paul the trio badge.
"I think we should go now.The time we spent here was amazing.Thanks Cikan,Cress and Chilli for your hospitality" said Ash
"No problem, its our pleasure to serve you and we had great battle" said the trio
After twenty minutes the gang is in the pokemon center.Paul and Barry already left for the next gym location.The group is waiting for their pokemon to get healed.
"Ritchie you want to travel with us or alone," asked Ash
"Your group seems large," said Ritchie
"No Ash I want to travel alone, because if I saw all your pokemon and you saw all my pokemon then what would be the fun in the league battle." said Ritchie
"You are right, all the best for the gym battles" said Ash
Once the gang get their pokemon back they departed for another city.

(A/N : Hi guys, after a long time I updated this chapter and I don't know how long it would take me to update the story.So for now Ash and his friends won their first gym battle.James's cacnea evolved.And yes it was necessary to make Iris loose her first battle.Ritchie will be in the story but on his own.Paul,Barry,Ritchie, Nate,Rosa,Hilbert,Hilda,Charen,Bianca, Hugh,Trip and Virgil will cross the path with Ash and his gang on occasion basis.)
