Operation Silverfoxes

Chapter 18th

Three blocks away the police on alert saw an man running into an alley to have shots fired at them. Dupont was desperate at this point shooting with nothing left to live for.

Officer Donny Brooks had called it into the precinct in regard to the attack on an Federal agent three blocks away from their location. Brooks partner Sergeant Hank Sparrows with the department over ten years and in a car for the last year. He gets out while waiting for his partner to finished talking to the dispatcher. "Let's go Hank after him!" He ordered strongly with moving swiftly towards the alleyway to see if they will be able to corner him.

Dupont fired again with missing the two police officers. He fell over a piece of metal that was on the hard ground and with the two officers hearing his location. Brooks fired back at the target as he was able to see parts of the suspect before firing again and no doubt hitting him this time in his left leg. "I think I hit him Hank!" He stated loudly with his voice and demeanor.

"We have to be careful Brooks, as it seems you might of hit him elsewhere as to why it's quiet." Hank needed to say and to calm his nerves slightly.

They moved in slowly over to the location of the suspect. Only to find the body with Brooks moving over to check for a pulse, only to find the following."He's dead! We need to call the meat wagon in order to remove the body to the morgue and do an autopsy."

Hank removed the walkie talkie from his side of his uniform pant in order to make the call to the dispatcher to send the coroner's van and write up their reports.

The ambulance had arrived carrying IFF agent Lee Stetson. His blood pressure had dropped slightly when the E.M.T.'S had explained the vitals to Doctor Anthony Greenway in charge of his case and with needing to give an MRI, CAT SCAN and X-Ray of the bump behind his head.

Doctor Greenway checking his pupils with the patient awake now on whether he had any blurred vision. "Some Doc! But I do have a whopper of a headache to add into the pain I am suffering with from the blow."

"Ok!, Take the patient inside to get started with the tests." He will order with the stretcher and the two technicians moving into the elevator to bring him downstairs and the department that will have the tests done on Lee.

One thing for sure. This was going to be the last time we will wind up in a hospital. They had taken him downstairs for which the tests will take a few hours making him very uncomfortable. Doctor Greenway was able to give him a pain killer in order to stop the pain and headache he was suffering with.

Amanda King had requested any information on her husband's condition. She was told to wait in the waiting room until Doctor Greenway was done with his patient. She was a complete mess needing to go to the bathroom along with a brushing of her hair. She needed to reapplied her make up with the rouse and pink lipstick.

When she had come out of the bathroom. She saw Billy Melrose waiting as well having arrived. "Amanda are you alright?" He asked with concern with his demeanor.

"I am worried about Lee. Did they find the man that was responsible for hurting Lee?" She needed to know since she was married to him.

"I haven't checked with the dispatcher on whether any word was given on the man that ran out of your house after hitting Lee over the head. If you will excuse me, I will go find out with making a phone call."

"Sure Sir. I will just wait over there for any word on Lee." Amanda had to say with her stomach needing to calm down.

This was happening a lot lately and her monthly was late by two weeks. She has a suspicious that maybe she might be pregnant again. Even though they had made the decision to try again with getting pregnant. She will have to confirm with her baby doctor when she gets the chance. One thing for sure her husband Lee Stetson was going to be thrilled with the idea.

She remembered the last time when she had found out that she was carrying Mark four years ago. Lee was on assignment in Vienna and had finished up his mission. She had come home coming from IFF after a long day compiling data for Melrose.

It was the next day when she went to see Doctor Gordons at the medical clinic to see him and to confirmed whether she was pregnant and it turned out that she was at this late stage of the game. She was thrilled in a number of way being that this just might be the last pregnancy ever...

She sits down on the chair to relax with picking up a magazine of woman's shoes and other moments she had fallen into a deep sleep without realizing while Billy talked with certain officials for the local Metro police about the suspect at Lee's and Amanda's home.

It had seem that Dupont had a death wish with shooting back at the local police officers in an alley way firing to wind up dead.

Speaking low talking at the nurses desk after asking for permission. "I understand Captain, I am just glad that the suspect was caught and killed. Even though he was part of a terrorist cell group. Thanks for your help with searching for him."

"No problem Mr. Melrose. Do you want us to bring the body to our morgue or yours for IFF?

"Ours. I will have my people send you the address since I need to get off this phone line since I am at the ICU nurses station. Talk to ya soon." He ends the conversation to head back to the waiting room to check up on Amanda.
