"Did you really think that was going to work?" Jeanine held a knife against Tori's accomplice's neck.

"Well I thought it was a possibility-"

"Shut the fuck up and tell me what your name is before I slit your throat!" Jeanine screamed making the man flinch.

"D-Darren." he stuttered.

"Hmm not so Dauntless now are we Darren?" she pushed him up against the wall, the knife remaining at his throat.

"P-please don't k-kill me." he begged.

"I haven't decided yet."

"Please." Darren sobbed.

"Oh quit your whining and tell me why you are here!" Jeanine snapped.

"F-for Tori."

She pressed the knife even closer to his neck, "Why do you care what Tori wants?"

"I-I-"

"Ohhhh," Jeanine realised, grinning at the thought, "you're in love with her."

"So what if I am?"

"You don't stand a chance."

"W-why not?"

Jeanine looked at him dumbfounded and then relaised that he must not have known, "She's gay. I slept with her when we were teenagers."

"N-no she's not."

"Oh for fuck sakes, "Jeanine rolled her eyes, "Tori ran away and so did you. Why are you back?"

"T-to prove myself."

"Really?! I'm the smartest person ever and you thought picking my lock was going to go well?!"

"I h-had to try."

"Hmmm."

"Please let me go." he begged again.

"Why should I?" Jeanine whispered, sending a chill down his spine.

Jeanine stared at the shaking Dauntless in front of her. She could kill him or she could let him live knowing that he was beat by a weak, outcasted Erudite. The latter seemed like the much more appealing option but she enjoyed playing with him.

"B-because you don't want to do this."

She grinned, he had walked straight into this one.

"You know who I am do you not? And you know why I was exiled do you not?"

"Y-you've ch-changed, that's what everyone who was at the wedding says."

"And what would they know?" Jeanine smirked, "I am still the same old emotionless murder with zero regard for other people."

"Y-you're married..."

As if on cue, Evelyn burst through the door and stared in shock when saw what was happening,

"Hey babe." Jeanine attempted to use humour but Evelyn wasn't having any of it.

"What the fuck is going on here?!"

Jeanine pulled him by his collar, the knife remaing by his throat, "This is Darren," she smiled at him, "the guy who was with Tori we were just you know... catching up."

"Did he try to attack you?!"

"Did you Darren?" Jeanine asked the shaking Dauntless.

"Ye-yes."

"Jeanine you need to call the police!"

"You are no fun."

"Jeanine!"

"Okay, okay!"

Evelyn called the police, "Hello there has been a break in and he has attempted to kill my wife... mhm... okay thank you."

"Alright Darren, this is how it's going to go. You are going to wait here patiently and I will get you a trial in Chicago, where I am sure no one will blame you for trying to kill me or you try something and you get life in prison outside the wall."

"O-okay... thank you..."

Jeanine fake smiled, "My pleassure."

The police where there in five minutes and Darren was taken away.

"Jeanine, you should have called me. You can only just walk without crutches, you shouldn't be holding up a knife to a mans neck." Evelyn sighed.

"I know... I have to go down to the station."

"I'll come with you."

"Okay."

Evelyn was actually pleased to see Jeanine handling herself and still having the same level of confidence that she had when she was Erudite leader but she didn't want to encourage her so she pretended to be angry. Jeanine saw right through the act.
