Thank you again for the reviews and don't forget I am replying to them by private message. Also, Amanda, Dan and Leah will be back and every so often feature in the chapters from now onwards. Also just going to explain that Amanda left as soon as she said bye to Belle and went to the city were Dan and Leah already were. The funeral for Peter was the morning after she said goodbye and now, they are back even though it is only the afternoon. For the story the timings of things might be slightly off just to fit in so I apology if it gets confusing at any point during this whole fanfic.
"JOHNNY HELP ME!" Dean continues to yell.
Turning around to look at the way in which the two had walked from, Johnny screamed: "HEY! I NEED SOME HELP HERE!"
He was hoping that the scream would travel far enough so that the people at the access point would be able to hear him and come to help.
Quickly getting down and lying flat on the ridge, Johnny carefully positions himself to pull up Dean.
"I can't hold on much longer." Dean informs the man, who only moments ago he was arguing with.
"Hang on mate." Johnny tells him "Grab my hand."
Johnny then hangs his hand over the edge of the ridge so Dean can grab it and be pulled up to safety.
Wincing in pain, Johnny manages to help Dean and the two of them end up lying on the ridge.
Sitting up, Dean shouts for help as he notices how much pain Johnny is and the blood which was starting to show through his t-shirt.
(1:02pm) 25 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Yabbie Creek – Northern Districts Hospital – Resus
Nurse Gloria Capin comes running out of Trauma Bay 1 which she had been prepping ready: "They're here!"
Sally and Ricky quickly follow the woman as Johnny gets pushed through resus on a trolley with Dean close behind.
"Johnathan Cooper, 24." The paramedic states to the nurse and Dr Young, who had been waiting "Trauma to existing injury. BP is 120 over 70. Pulse 85."
Dr Young directs the paramedics into Trauma Bay 1 while Gloria tells the women to stay and that she'll be out to check Dean once they were finished with Johnny.
As she too walks away Ricky turns to look at Dean: "Don't tell me you two were fighting again."
Dean shakes his head to say no.
"Then what did happen?" Sally asks him with worry.
"Well, I went into the bush to try and stop him, and em I slipped and fell down this rocky ledge on the ridge."
"You fell?" Both women say the same time.
Then Sally turning to look at where Johnny disappeared to, asks: "What about him?"
"Oh, he helped me up that's how he injured himself." Dean explains to them what actually happened on the ridge "He tore his stiches while he was doing it."
"Johnny saved you?" Ricky asks him not realising that either of them would want to save the other.
"I could barely hold on. I probably would have fallen if he hadn't come back for me." Dean lets them both know.
"Are you ok?" Ricky asks wanting to make sure.
Deans tells her that he's fine, thanks to Johnny.
"I guess I should probably say thanks." Sally tells him as she feels personally responsible for Johnny after both him and Rocco moved into her house "You know, for going after him."
"Yeah, no worries." Dean replies then goes to sit down while he waits to be seen too.
Meanwhile…
Summer Bay – Surf Club – Main Area
Alf had just finished off a phone call and was now looking at the search map when Morag entered the building after arriving from the city.
"I came as quickly as I could." Morag says to her brother when she spots him "They still haven't found anyone?"
Pointing at the map, Alf answers her: "Well, they've searched most of this area here, but they still haven't found the crash site."
Looking at the map then her brother, she asks: "And what about you? I suppose you've had no rest since this all began."
"Oh, don't you start Morag." Alf tells her after hearing it from his friends too "Until Bianca, Rocco and the rest of those kids are found, whether I've had any sleep or not is completely beside the point."
He then walks over to a table and sits down while looking at some papers.
Morag is still stood beside the map when Marilyn walks over and says: "He's getting more worked up, as the search goes on."
"Yeah, well worrying is understandable but he's no help to anyone in that state." Morag tells the woman as she points at her brother.
"Least of all himself. It's just not necessary, the search base at Richland Falls have got everything more than covered. Plus, John is also there helping out so it's not like we don't know anyone who is at the base camp full time." Marilyn points out then continues "I'm worried about him Morag, none of this stress is good for his heart. I'm just worried that if he doesn't take a break he's going to end up in hospital."
Morag just listens to the woman as she tries to come up with a plan in her head.
(1:52pm) 50 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Amanda's House – Driveway
After Amanda had said goodbye to Belle, she had gone straight to the City for Peter's funeral with Dan and Leah, now they were back after the funeral had be a quick one with just a few people. None of them were aware what happened yesterday after Amanda had left the Bay.
"Thanks for driving me." Amanda says to the couple after they had drove her back to the Bay "It was really a lovely service."
"It's just weird. I still can't believe that he's gone." Dan responds handing Amanda her bag at the same time.
"Are you sure that your mum and dad are going to be ok looking after Ryan?"
"Yeah, I think having Ryan for a few weeks will give them something else to focus on."
"Yeah and you've got enough to think about with Belle's burns and new boyfriend." Leah reminds her husband's ex.
Laughing, Amanda replies: "Well hopefully now she's seen that doctor in the city, we know what is going to happen in terms of treatment. Oh, please don't remind me about that. I don't think I'm prepared for my 16-year-old daughter to have a boyfriend."
"Well Rachel did this doctor was the best." Leah says "In terms of her having a boyfriend, at least Kyle is a good boy she could have done a lot worse."
"She's right you know; Kyle is my best student and he's the school class president, so he is a really good kid despite his half-brothers being from Mangrove River. Besides, even they're all nice even with the whole river boy thing." Dan tells her.
"But I didn't think they were a part of that gang."
"Well, Heath isn't any more due to him being a cop, but they still have connections in the gang I suppose." Leah reminds them all "i mean some of them where at the wedding after all."
"Anyway, we better head home ourselves." Dan says as he starts to walk back to the car "If you need us to give us a call."
"We can help with the whole boyfriend situation the best we can." Leah says giving Amanda a hug goodbye.
"Thanks guys." Amanda says.
With that they all split up and go in their different directions, Leah and Dan heading back to their place while Amanda heads inside.
(2:06pm) 14 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Amanda's House – Living Room
When Amanda opened the door, she placed her bags down, then walked over to the house phone as she noticed there was a voicemail.
Pressing the play button on the machine she was expecting to have a message from Irene.
Start of Voicemail
Irene: Amanda, it's Irene you probably aren't answering your phone due to be at Peter's funeral. So, I'm assuming you won't have heard. Belle is missing. The chopper never made it to the city. Call me as soon as you get this or come find me as I'll probably be at the Surf Club, but I might be dropping some food supplies of at Richland Falls.
End of Voicemail
As soon as the voicemail ends Amanda just stands there, she doesn't quite believe what she had just heard. Suddenly gathering herself, she grabs her handbag and car keys. Deciding to go straight to find Irene so she can explain everything in person.
(2:37pm) 31 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Surf Club – Main Area
Alf was currently rubbing his chest and shoulder while wincing in pain, when Morag walked over to him.
"It is not a sin you know." Morag tells him while placing her hand on her hip.
Not understanding what she was on about, Alf asks: "What are you talking about?"
"Going home and getting some rest. You are not failing Rocco, Bianca or the others if you do that."
"Right Morag look, I was out of line before and I'm sorry ok. I just had a few things on my mind."
"Oh, you've got a million things on your mind which is precisely why you should take a break." Morag says slightly raising her voice on the last part.
"Those kids are depending on me and I'm not leaving till they're found." Alf states.
"And what good will you do them if you end leaving here in ambulance?"
"Oh, for cryin' out loud Morag!" Alf raises his voice at her "I'm alright."
"No, you're not. I've seen you rubbing your chest, your angina's playing up because of the stress. No wonder Marilyn and everyone is worried sick about you." Morag points out to him hoping it would make him take a break.
Standing up with a map in his hand, Alf says: "I've told you before, I'm not going anywhere. So, just keep out of my way and let me do my job."
It's at that point Amanda comes running into the Surf Club. She couldn't spot Irene, but she could see Alf.
Rushing over to him, she asks: "Alf, have they found them yet? What's happening? What are they doing to find my daughter?"
Spotting the woman asking her friend countless questions and knowing it was probably not going to end well, Marilyn rushes over.
"Amanda." Marilyn says.
"There are several search teams on the ground and a couple of choppers in the air." Alf throws over his shoulder.
"What? That's it?" Amanda questions him just as Morag also joins them all "That'll take days to find them and by then it'll be too late."
"Amanda." Marilyn says again but it isn't quick enough.
"THEY'RE DOING THE BEST THEY CAN WITH THE RESOURCES THEY HAVE!" Alf shouts her just Irene comes running in to the Surf Club.
"WELL THAT'S NOT ENOUGH!" Amanda yells back with worry in his voice.
"Amanda." Irene says from behind her.
Amanda still ignores as she is too busy speaking to Alf or shouting back at home to realise it was Irene not Marilyn this time.
"Look, they have to do more to fine her."
"Amanda, they are going to find ALL of them, but you must stay calm." Morag said finally getting the younger woman's attention.
Amanda finishes listening to Morag then goes back to questioning Alf: "Don't you have any leads on where the crash point was?"
"Amanda!" Irene then grabs Amanda and turns her around to make sure she is listening to her "They are doing all they can now please just calm down."
With that Amanda starts to calm down and Irene decides to take her upstairs to the restaurant so they can talk about it calmly and rationally.
At the same time…
Summer Bay – Yabbie Creek – Northern Districts Hospital – Johnny's Room
Johnny had been patched up and was now back on oxygen via nasal cannula and was currently getting told of by both Sally and Ricky, while Dean just stood and listened.
"I know I shouldn't have taken off like that and I'm sorry." Johnny says to them all "I just feel so useless here."
"That is besides the point Johnny!" Sally tells him "I've had to leave Cassie who might I add nearly gave birth this morning because she was so worried about Rocco to come and find out from Ricky that you had taken off only to get injured in the process."
"WHAT?!" Johnny asks when Sally had mentioned Cassie "Is she ok? Is the baby ok?"
"Thanks to Heath labour has been averted for now, but I don't think she could also deal with you going missing in the bush too or worse as well."
"Heath? What did he do?"
"He helped to calm her down by telling her everything was going to be ok. Now back to you." Sally informs her friend.
"I'll have to thank him." Johnny says.
"Yeah you do." Ricky points out.
"Look Sally, I'm sorry I just wanted to find my brother. Knowing he's out there and I can't do anything to help look for him is killing me."
Dean thinks now would be a good idea to do say something: "Mate, Sally gets that heck we all do because it's how we all feel. However, taking off does not help anyone in fact it makes it worse and then you would be in no position later on to help Rocco."
"I can't believe I'm going to say thus but, Dean is right for once." Ricky says with a slight laugh "You taking off the way you did could have been so much worse which wouldn't have helped at all."
"I didn't think about it like that, all I could think of was Rocco and I needed to get him back." Johnny begins to sob.
Knowing he probably won't want a crowd; Ricky looks at Dean then the doorway. Understanding what she was on about, Dean walked out the room with Ricky not too far behind. This left Sally to sit with Johnny as he cried over his missing brother.
