Chapter 15: The Lecture of the Celestian Student and the Dark Star Student
One afternoon, Sun is waiting patiently at the train station for the train to arrive. She is sitting on a bench as she feeds Regana her bottle. Sun looks at the baby who is eating with a smile on her face. Once she is done, Sun takes the bottle and the baby yawns a little.
Sun smiles, "There. Now it's time for your nap."
Sun then begins to rock the baby as she waits for the train. Soon enough the baby has fallen asleep. Just then, Sun hears a loud whistling sound, and turns her head to see the train rolling in. Sun then stands on legs as she holds Regana in one of them. Sun uses her magic to place the baby in the carrier next to her.
Then hear someone call out, "Sun!"
Sun turns her head to see Falling Star with a suitcase.
"Falling Star," Sun happily says.
Sun walks to Falling Star and the two ponies give each other a hug.
"Are you excited?" Sun asks.
"I sure am, but I'm a little nervous though. I never exactly been a guest speaker at the School of Friendship before… or at any school for that matter," Falling Star says.
"Don't worry, I'll be there beside you to help you out with the lesson," Sun says.
"Remind me exactly, what we're doing?" Falling Star asks as she and Sun begin to walk to Ponyville.
"Well, you and I are going to have a discussion about the Friendship you and I were able to develop. Even though it took us a long time for us to actually become friends," Sun says.
"Yeah. I'm still a bit nervous about talking about it tomorrow. You and I didn't exactly get along very well in the past. Well, it's more like I'm the one who didn't get along with you," Falling Star says.
"I know. It's never easy to talk about the mistakes we made in the past. Starlight and Cozy Glow felt the same when they talked about theirs. But hey, that happened a long time ago and we are only just talking about it. Doesn't mean you need to relive it. So let's just answer the questions we best can and try to get through it," Sun says.
"Thanks. And well, looking back on it now, it really makes me wish I would have become your friend a lot sooner instead of thinking that I have to become a bitter jealous rival," Falling Star says.
"Let's not forget it didn't help that some of the Ponies from the school weren't nice to you before I came along, especially on what happened in that talent show," Sun says.
Falling Star groans, "How could I forget. I still like to get those two jerks for that."
"Of course, it's not nice to get back at someone for bullying, Celestia suspended them when she found out," Sun says.
"Yeah. From what I heard, you were the one actually found out they did it," Falling Star says.
"They didn't like it one bit, and yet they ended up learning their lesson with Celestia gave them a stern talking to," Sun says.
The two girls then begin laughing with smiles on their faces.
The next day, in the School of Friendship, many of the students are inside the classroom Princess Twilight teaches. She stands in front of the classroom with Sun and Falling Star. All of them very excited to see Sun and Falling Star will be teaching them and will be guest speaking about friendship.
Princess Twilight announces, "Okay students, today we have two friends who will be guest speaking and teaching you friendship lessons today. I like to present Princess Sun of Harmony, and Falling Star of Princess Celestia School of Gifted Unicorns and upcoming graduates."
The students begin to clap and cheer with excitement. Sun and Falling Star step forward with calm smiles on their face as Princess Twilight sits down at her desk.
"Hello everyone, as you know Falling Star and I will be teaching you about friendship. The topic specifically is about how sometimes friendship takes a while to be made, even though the tough times," Sun says.
"We'll answer any question you ask if you have any questions while going over the lesson," Falling Star says.
Sometime later of the lecture, Sun then says, "Of course, sometimes friendship doesn't always happen to ponies right away, and it takes a while. Some more than others…"
"Of course, there are some who were able to create friendship right away. Depending on the situation, if you want to make friends and to maintain it, you need to work hard on it and that way, you'll be able to make a good friend," Falling Star says.
"And that is the end of today's class. Do you all have any questions?" Sun replies.
Ocelus raises her hoof and asks, "Um, I do hope it's not personal, but how long did it take for you two to be friends."
Sun and Falling Star look at each other with skeptic looks. Then turns to the class.
Falling Star says, blushing, "To be honest, it actually took us years before we could actually be friends."
"Yeah. I was sent to a different world before we were able to make friends with each other," Sun says.
Then Cozy Glow raises her hand, and asks, "I have a question. I hope it's not going to take much of your time."
"Nothing at all, what do you wanna ask," Sun replies.
"Well. From what I learned you and Falling Stat didn't get along in the past when you both attended Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, and after all these years when Falling Star took Twilight's crown to the human world, you both became friends now. Even though Sun comes to Equestria once in a while, you both stayed in touch. So here's the question I like to ask," Cozy Glow says.
Then she asks, "How did this whole relationship between you and Sun got started? From what I remember, Falling Star was um, very mean to you."
"Yeah. I was wondering the same thing. Not that I'm complaining or think it's weird. But from what I heard, Falling Star was very mean to you Sun. I have to wonder how it happened," Smolder says.
"I wonder about that too. I like to see you two being friends, but how come you two weren't friends when you were at school," Silverstream adds.
Soon, the students begin to ask all kinds of questions. They asked how they both attend the school? What happened between them during the time? How did they both attend the school? How did Falling Star become Sun's bully? And all kinds of questions. Sun and Falling Star blush a little and well, a bit loss for words.
"Well. That happened a very very long time ago," Falling Star says.
"Yeah. Falling Star and I were actually very young when we first attended the school. We were actually no older than Cozy Glow when we attended," Sun says.
"Really?" Cozy Glow asks.
"Yeah. Like we said it happened a long time ago," Falling Star says.
"I'll say," Gallus says.
Then Moon Shell asks, "So can you tell us the story?"
"Yeah. I want to hear it," Dark Abyss replies.
"Me too," Crescendo says.
"So do I," Cozy Glow says.
Soon, the ponies begin to say that they want to hear the story as well. Of course, Sun and Falling Star know that they can't deny the request.
"Alright, we'll tell you the story," Sun says.
Silverstream asks, "Will there be singing?"
"Magic?" Yona asks.
"How about adventure?" Smolder says.
"Yeah," Sandbar and Gallus say.
Sun and Falling Star begin giggling.
"Well, there will be a lot of adventures and magic," Falling Star says.
"And there will be some singing," Sun adds.
Then Falling Star says, "Of course, you will also hear… well, a side of me that I didn't wish to see or hear again."
"That's okay. We have a few friends who were on that road," Smolder says.
Falling Star takes a deep breath and says, "Alright. It's a long story, but Sun and I will tell the best we can. Well, the best we can remember."
The students answer, "Okay."
"Well, it actually happened before we actually came to the school. Back then, I was actually a very shy pony," Falling Star says.
"You were shy? That's kind of hard to believe," Gallus says.
"Yeah. I know it's kind of weird, but it's true," Falling Star says.
"So what happened?" Sandbar asks.
"Well, ever since I was little, I've always been interested in learning magic and studied constantly. Sometime later, my parents allowed me to enroll in Princess Celestia's school and I was excited. I made sure to study and practice my magic for the entrance exam," Falling Star says.
"What was your exam?" Cozy Glow asks.
"I had to grow a plant using my magic. I succeeded in growing a well, a Stardust Flower bush and passed the exam with flying colors," Falling Star says.
"So what was your Sun?" Gallus asks.
"Hmm, to tell you the truth. I… I never took an exam at all," Sun says.
The students become confused, including Falling Star and Twilight
"You never took the entrance exam? I didn't know that," Falling Star says.
"Neither have I. It's kind of amazing. Considering you were Princess Celestia Pupil before I came along," Twilight says.
"So then, how did you get into the school?" Falling Star asks.
Sun sadly sighs, "Because Princess Celestia saw how much potential I had in magic. And it happened on the same day I was abducted."
The young students gasp in shock.
Falling Star soon says, "I remember hearing about that. A pony decided to abduct you when you were a filly and tried to take you far in the forest outside of Canterlot for some reason."
"Princess Celestia told me about it too. She said that somehow, Sun was able to escape from her captor and wandered into the forest until the princess, her parents, and the royal guards found her," Celestia says.
Then asks, "Sun, but we like to hear how it happened as well. Think you can tell us?"
"Well. I don't fully remember, but I remember beginning to care, crying for my parents. Then the pony who kidnapped me fell and dropped me. I used that chance to escape and wonder around the forest for a while. And that's when I saw them, I saw Windigos flying around. I was so afraid, I thought about wanting to go home to my parents, brothers, and sister, and scared that I'll never see them again. Somehow, my magic reacted to it and I ended up using my magic on the Windigos without really knowing it, and it chased them away. I soon passed out after that," Sun explains.
"That must have been so awful," Ocelus says.
"It was. But when I woke up and saw my family, I hugged them the biggest hug and cried my eyes out. I was so relieved and happy to see them. What really surprised me was that Princess Celesita entered the room, and I must admit, it was a shock to say the least," Sun says.
"So what happened?" Cozy Glow asks.
"Well. Princess Celesita explained to me and my parents about what happened and why the pony kidnapped me. Apparently the pony wanted me to uh, be his little pony. That pony wanted me to be his child. Then explained how I somehow was able to use a powerful magic to chase the Windigos away. She said that I have a special gift, but needed to maintain them through focus study, and so she asked if I would become her personal student in the school and I happily accept," Sun says.
"Sounds cool," Gallus says.
"Yes. However, things didn't turn out well when Sun entered the school and they learned about her being Princess Celestia's student. During my time at the school, I was shy, timid, and always wanted to be myself. It didn't help that there were two ponies picking on me for being shy and such. I was able to successfully do my work on my own, without any help, and well, always been alone," Falling Star says.
"I came to the school around two years after Falling Star did. And when I entered, I was very excited, but very nervous," Sun says.
"Really?" Crescendo asks.
"I was. Sometime later, I came into my first class and that's when I met Falling Star," Sun says.
Falling Star blushes, "Yeah. Sun tried to say hi, but I kind of ignored her. "
"You just… ignore her?" Gallus asks.
"Yeah. I did. In fact, every chance she gets, she will say high, give me a smile, and do other kind things for me. However, I just never say a word to her. At first, I thought she never wanted to be friends with someone like me because she was Princess Celestia's private student," Falling Star says.
Sun nods her head, "Yeah. In fact, a few students don't really talk to me or say hi because I was Celestia's private student. I was worried that they were scared or uncomfortable to talk to me, or think I might be stuck up."
"And of course, that's not true," Moon Shell says.
"Yes. However, many of us were either nervous or thought unlikely of Sun. Especially me, hearing how well she's been doing with her classes, despite me being in the school longer than her, she was still very skillful with her magic. I think that's how I became resentful of Sun, I was jealous," Falling Star says.
She then sighs, "And the reason why I've become so mean to other ponies, especially Sun happened in a talent show."
"I remember. When the ponies started laughing at you, I was so mad I wanted to tell them off, but I was too worried about Falling Star to be angry," Sun says.
"What happened?" Dark Abyss asks.
"Uh" Sun and Falling Star says, feeling weary.
"What's up?" Crescendo asks.
"Well. Many of us participated in the talent show. The School's talent show was also a fundraiser for new books and other equipment for the school. I decided to sing for the talent show. At first, I was nervous about singing, but my brother said I should give it a try and so I did," Sun says.
As for me, I wanted to use my magic to create a Celestial illusion. I practiced it for a while until I was able to perfect it," Falling Star says.
"But what happened in the talent show?" Gallus asks.
Falling Star hesitated at first and was looking very nervous, "Well uh, at the talent show, it was going well, but then the bullies decided to sabotage my performance by pouring water, confetti and other stuff on me. My performance got messed up and they disappeared. Many of the ponies started laughing at me. I… I was so embarrassed and upset that I began to cry."
"I was so upset with what happened, I wanted to tell them off. However, seeing Falling Star so sad and hurt, I knew that I had to help her. When I tried to… she…" Sun says.
Falling Star says, "I yelled at her to leave me alone and ran away in tears."
"Yeah, but I understand. What happened really hurt you," Sun says.
Silverstream says, "Sounds to me that despite your resentment towards Sun, she still tried to be a friend to you."
"Yes. But I never took it to hear. After what happened, the ponies of the school continued laughing at me and none of them cared how I felt at all. And yet, Sun was the only one who tried to help me. After that, I've been using my magic to hurt the ponies around me, especially those who laughed or been really mean to me. And I've also been bullying Sun more than any other students. Sun told me that she decided not to make any friends at the school because of what I've done, but she still tried to be a good pony to others. From what I heard, the ones who bullied me and humiliated me at the talent show were suspended and had to do community service," Falling Star says.
She sadly sighs, "And they thought I did it and was trying to hurt me. I then used my magic against them. Lifting them in the air, spinning them around, and tossing them in the fountain. That's when Sun came in and told me that getting back at them isn't worth it, and I brushed them off. I never did find out who told them, but I think they never meant for this to happen."
"And I didn't," Sun says.
Falling Star turns to Sun, "What do you mean?"
"I never meant for the bullies to try to hurt you. I'm the one who got them in trouble. I've been seeing you get bullied by those two for some time. And whenever they're alone, I tell them to leave you alone, but they brush me off and wonder why I care because I was Celestia's personal student. And yet, I continue to do my best to help Falling Star and try to stop the bullies. After what happened at the talent show, I told Princess Celestia about what happened and about Falling Star being bullied. She said that she will not tolerate bullying at the school and punished them. After what happened with Falling Star I told them that I'm the one that told Celestia and told them the reason and said that It's their fault that Falling Star became that way, even taking her anger out on the other students. At first, they wanted to hurt me and make my life miserable, but Celestia stepped in and told me that she and some of the teachers saw what happened and they faced punishment," Sun says.
She sighs, "Course, the damage has already been done, and Falling Star became the bully and used her magic on other students, and on myself. Despite everything she has done to me and the students, I try to help her, and even secretly send her well -presented gifts, but nothing I've done seems to work. The pain she had was far too great to be fixed.
Falling Star begins to shed tears and says, "Oh Sun."
"When I tried to prevent another bullying Falling Star tried to use her magic on me and I tried to stop it. That's when my magic sudden;y increased to a powerful level, and I passed out. When I woke up, I found out Celestia was expelled from the school. Celestia feels that it's best for Falling Star to leave the school, especially all the pain that was brought to her and caused her to bring suffering on others," Sun says.
"At first, I blamed everything on Sun, but now I realized that it was my own fault, my bitterness, anger, sorrow, and resentment caused all of this that happened to me. And yet, I was consumed with my own anger and jealousy. Ever since I learned about everything Sun has done for me, it makes me wonder why she would want someone like me as a friend, even though I was so rotten to her," Falling Star says.
Sun says, "I know our time at school wasn't good, but it's also good to forget the painful memories of the past and best to move on to make a better future."
"I'm surprised that no matter what Falling Star did, you still wanted to be friends with her," Smolder says.
Twilight says, "I think it's possible that you still have faith in Falling Star. And you believed that Falling Star could become your friend. And when everything happened in the human world, you were able to make that faith into a reality."
"And I'm glad that I've decided to finally accept Sun's friendship. Even though I was acting incredibly stubborn," Falling Star says.
"Sounds like you both learned a valuable lesson about friendship," Cozy Glow says.
"Yes. We learned that you should never lose faith in yourself of your beliefs and in someone that you want to be close to," Sun says.
"And I learned that friendship really is powerful. And well, that anger and resentment is never a way to have attention and friends," Falling Star says.
Sun then hugs Falling Star, "I saw, we have learned a great lesson thanks to the Magic of Friendship that brought us together."
Falling Star hugs Sun and the two giggle with smiles on their faces.
