A/N For the 8 people who read it in the first half hour, I had a slight change of heart and decided to remove the last two lines of the previous chapter :)

Enjoy!

"I think things are going well," Two surmised looking at an aerial photo of the plane wreckage. "This should be enough to make the rest of the Twelve think twice before trusting another one of One's plans,"

"Yes, thankfully Villanelle is out of the picture and One's son did not survive either, just as planned," Eight agreed. "However, Eve did survive which is neither here nor there, but the problem is that she is still convinced the mission can go ahead as planned unhindered by the loss of our top asset,"

"Good riddance to her. It is probably better this way, Three clearly could not control her," Two leaned back in his chair. "Unfortunately that means we did not do enough to stop One's plan though,"

"Leave that part to me. For now, in all of his grief, the rest of the council has gotten to see a glimpse of how unfit he is to continue leading, we need to capitalize on that so we can get him out," Quinton explained.

"What do you have in mind?"

"I had a plan B in place, in the event that the plane crash did not serve its purpose, as it clearly did not," Eight grinned mischievously. "Everything has been planned for."

The light was blinding and the ringtone was exceptionally loud, at least that's what it seemed like to her at four in the morning. The caller ID told her it was an associate from Greece and she was quick to answer.

"Hello?" Her voice was hoarse from sleep.

"I'm sorry, ma'am, we don't have any information about a death matching any of the parameters you gave us,"

She leaned against the headboard, more than shocked. "Are you sure?! Dig deeper! Yesterday morning, near the address I gave you, check again!"

"There is nothing to check, there have been no cases, no bodies, no evidence logged into the system," The man on the other end of the phone replied.

"Did you look into the officer?" Eve's heart and head were racing now.

"Yes, ma'am, he hasn't logged any evidence regarding a murder in the last 24 hours,"

"Check again, there must be a mistake. I want you to figure this shit out, you have three hours," Eve didn't wait for a response before hanging up on him.

She didn't know what to think about all of this. How could there be no evidence, no body, no anything? Even though she'd wish for sleep, after this she knew there was no point in trying.

After getting up and finding herself some coffee, she grabbed her gun and despite her injury, found her way to the firing range. Usually, she turned to reading to relax, but this was not a usual situation, it was downright bizarre and she couldn't wrap her head around it. There were far too many unanswered questions and so many things had gone wrong.

One by one, she squeezed the trigger sending lead through the head and heart of the target down the range. The more she thought about it all, the more distraught she became, and the more violently she pulled the trigger until she was yelling and her gun was out of ammo. Slamming the empty weapon on the counter, she felt the tears that had slipped from her eyes.

"Are you sure you should be doing that like medically speaking?" Eve heard Laura's voice behind her and she quickly wiped her eyes.

"Laura, hi, didn't see you there," Eve turned to look at her.

"Are you okay?"

"Would you believe me if I said yes?" Eve said weakly.

"Not at all,"

"Then I guess I won't bother. So what are you doing in here?"

"I just wanted to see who was getting a jump on today's training, I didn't expect it to be you,"

"Have you had breakfast?" Eve asked as she cleaned up her stuff.

The other woman shook her head so Eve walked with her back to the dining area. "What time are you leaving today?" Laura asked sitting across from her boss.

"I'm not," Eve answered and Laura gave her a questioning look. "I know I said I was, but I think I need to stay here to oversee things,"

"What happened to figuring out what happened to Vil-"

"Nothing happened to it!" Eve cut her off. "Of course I'm going to find out what happened!"

"Alright alright," Laura paused to think for a moment. "And you're sure those were her earrings?"

"Earring, the officer only had one of th...em," Eve trailed off just as Xenon and Keres walked in. "Excuse me, I have some things to take care of,"

"But-" Eve heard her say but she didn't have time to answer. She walked down the hall back to her room and called the number of her contact in Greece.

"Ma'am, we still haven't found anything,"

"There should have been a set of earrings logged by the officer, he had one to show me and the other was at the morgue, it should have been with her," She put her earbuds in so she could look up the locations of the jewelry and stay on the phone. Looking at the app, she was shocked. One was still clearly in Athens, but the other was in Egypt.

"I'm sorry ma'am, I am not seeing anything in the system about earrings, and there is still nothing about a murder," He said sounding defeated.

"Keep on it and let me know if anything changes," She hung up on him swiftly. Telling herself it couldn't be right, she rebooted the app and then her whole phone, but the data showed the same thing. It wasn't at a police station in Greece, it was in Alexandria, Egypt.

Her original intentions of going straight to Paris were tossed out the window. She needed to follow this up first, she couldn't ignore it. Could her darling assassin still be alive? Eve didn't want to let herself hope that she'd see her assassin again, but she needed to know for sure.

She packed her bag up as fast as she could and strode down the hall yelling orders to ready the helicopter.

"I thought you were staying?" Laura caught up to her.

"Something came up, a different asset needs my attention, I will be back in a few days to oversee this operation, until then, keep me informed," Eve explained quickly. She knew if there was any chance Villanelle was alive, no one could know about it, not even Laura.

A/N Thanks for reading!
