Hey guys I'm still here. My life kind of blew up the last couple of years and I'm finally getting back to my stories. I'm so sorry for the extremely long wait and I really appreciate all of the reviews. Sorry for any spelling errors and grammar errors. I'm dyslexic and I suck at grammar if I'm honest. Lots of love now enjoy 2,183 words for this chapter.
Damon released me once the room was cleared out. The only people left in the room were the Mazur's, their Guardian's, the Queen, her Guardian's, and I. No one spoke and I was frozen in place. I was fighting back tears and the Queen must have noticed. Tatiana must have said something but I didn't register her words.
"Kiz… Kiz are you going to be alright while we are out in the hallway?" Abe spoke trying to get my attention. There was a look of concern written on everyone's faces except for the Queen's Guardian's, which lead me to believe that Abe was trying to get my attention for the past few minutes.
"Yes," I managed to say as my voice cracked.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, dad I'll be fine." He looked surprised for a second before nodding and walking out.
"Well, that explains a lot!" Tatiana said giving a small smile.
"Huh?" I said confused, not understanding her statement.
"Mr. Mauzar being your father. It explains a lot." Her guardian's looked shocked.
"Oh!" I squeaked out not realizing that I let that information slip.
"Rose." She spoke in a serious tone now. "What happened?"
"I honestly don't know." I blinked rapidly trying to get rid of the tears that were burning in my eyes. I tried to think about what was going on but I couldn't think of anything but the cruel words my friends had said about me. Tatiana looked at me with concern; as my hand traveled up to fiddle with my rose necklace. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. "Compulsion!"
I wrapped my fingers around the cold metal that should have been warm, and ripped it from my neck. I held it out to glare at the offending object. I suppressed the urge to throw it across the room. "I think this is charmed." I held the necklace out to Tatiana and she took it from me gently.
"Rosemarie Hathaway, are you officially turning this necklace into evidence against Lady Natasha Ozera?" She spoke in her official tone.
"I Rosemarie Hathaway; officially submit this necklace as evidence against Lady Natasha Ozera." I pursued my lips before I continued. "I believe if you check the belongings of the others involved in this matter you will find a piece of charmed jewelry on each of them." I choked on the last few words. I rapidly tried to blink away the tears that were pooling in my eyes. "I'm sorry your Majesty, I'm failing to control my emotions." A small sob escaped me; my weakness was truly showing that I'm unworthy of being a Guardian.
"Rose, you are not failing. No one should ever have to go through something like what you just went through." I saw the compassion in her eyes before turning to one of her Guardians. "Detain Lady Ozera as soon as she is found."
I missed what was being said after that because I was pulled into Lissa's head. The initial feelings of fear and betrayal confused me until I witnessed what was happening. Lissa was cornered by Tasha, who was giving off a menacing aura.
"Lissa, my dear you aren't feeling well and you aren't thinking straight." Lissa was shaking her head no. "Look at me, Lissa," Tasha spoke sweetly.
"No, I know what you did!" Lissa screeched as she desperately tried to keep her gaze away from Tasha's eyes. "You made us all hurt Ro…" Tasha grabbed her face and jerked her head up to look at her eyes. I was helpless to do anything; except watch.
"Lissa, honey you know better than I that Rose is reckless and gets herself into trouble." I felt the compulsion take a hold of Lissa and her feelings of fear and betrayal melted away. "You know all the rumors are true regarding Rose." I cringed at Tasha.
"I just have a hard time believing that she has been doing this stuff behind my back. I mean I knew about Jesse but she swore nothing happened between them except making out. I'm so disgusted because half of the Moroi population is coming forward and saying they've slept with her and drank from her." I could feel Lissa trying to fight the compulsion.
"Lissa, sweetheart I wish I didn't have to do this but you deserve to know. I've tried to keep it from you because I know it'll break your heart. After all, she was your best friend, and he's my nephew." Tasha's hand flew over her mouth and acted surprised that she let those words slip from her lips. Her eyes flashed dangerously as Lissa gasped, and I could picture her vindictive smile behind her hand.
"Tasha, what do you mean?" I could feel the pit of dread well up in Lissa's stomach. I was dumbfounded! What the actual fuck was Tasha accusing me of with Christian? Anyone and I mean anyone that knows me would know that I would never do that to Lissa, let alone with Christian surprisingly enough I treated him like my brother.
"Lissa these were sent to me a couple of days before I arrived, I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to hurt you and Christian is my only family. You need to know the truth about your friend and your boyfriend." I was filled with dread, I wanted out of Lissa's head. I could not handle any more lies. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't return to my body but I did feel hands grab my arms to steady me. Which means they were trying to rouse me out of Lissa's mind. Both Lissa and my hands were shaking as Tasha placed an envelope into Lissa's hands.
"Tasha, what is this?" Tasha just nodded at Lissa to open it. I was baffled at what could be in the envelope because I've done absolutely nothing except being a friend to Christian. Rage coursed through Lissa as she saw the first photograph. I thought I was going to be sick, these photos were innocent but to someone that didn't witness what happened could take it as an affair. The first photo was of Christian and me holding hands with big smiles on our faces. The second was of us hugging, the third one was Christian hugging me from behind with his head on my shoulder. Blind rage surged through Lissa when she flipped to the fourth and final photo. My heart almost stopped, hatred filled Lissa when she saw a picture of me kissing Christian on the cheek. "I hate her! Our friendship is over; she will never be my Guardian. I'll make sure of that." Bitterness seeped from Lissa as she spoke but she missed the satisfied look on Tasha's face. I felt the tears pouring down my face as the hands-on my arms tightened. I was so upset that I almost missed Tasha's next words.
"Lissa sweetie look at me," I screamed in my mind for her not to look but of course Lissa looked at Tasha. "You have two weeks to make her pay." Hook line and sinker; Lissa wasn't fighting the compulsion. "You know what you have to do."
"That bitch is going to wish she stayed dead!" Suddenly I was thrown from Lissa's mind with a gut-wrenching sob; I buried my head into the neck of one of the people that were holding me up.
"I… I… I…" I couldn't get my words out; my mind couldn't cope with what I just saw. My body was shaking so badly that my knees gave out on me. Whoever I had in a death grip was now holding me. "Tasha just pushed Lissa to the edge, she…" I sobbed harder as my mind replayed the whole thing over and over again. "She wishes I had stayed dead." I let out a hysterical sob. "I can't… two weeks… Stay… Worst…" I could make out voices but not what they were saying.
"Rose, prove everyone wrong, graduate, and become one of the best Guardian's. Your father will take care of anything. Keep strong, we will do everything we can." I heard every word from our Queen. "Go rest and I will see you soon."
"Thank… You, your Majesty." I managed to say as my whole body turned. Whoever was carrying me was moving swiftly. I felt the cool breeze blowing around us and it caused me to shiver. I was slightly shifted as someone else wrapped a coat around me. I started to doze off as the sobs started to subside.
"Get some sleep Rose, we've got you. I'll see you when you wake up." I relaxed in Nate's arms and fell into a deep sleep. When I woke up hours later my room was empty of my things and my dad and brother were sitting there patiently waiting for me to wake. I jolted up when the door opened, but relaxed when Nate walked in. "Everything is loaded on the jet; we can leave whenever you're ready." The statement was directed at Abe. My brain blanked, they were leaving. Are they leaving without me? Panic started bubbling up inside of me.
"Relax Kiz; you are coming with us. Before you say anything it is non-negotiable besides the compulsion going on you are also in danger. I will not allow anything else to happen in this godforsaken school." Abe bit out with a sneer, anyone with half a brain could tell he was pissed. "We have about an hour before we meet with the Queen." He said standing up. "Go get a shower; we will be waiting outside for you." He gave a nod before he exited the room followed by Damon and Nate.
I exhaled a long breath and got up from the bed. I have no choice but to leave this school. This is the only home I've ever really known. I walked over to my dresser out of habit and opened my underwear drawer, and grimaced when I found it empty. This makes things a little difficult because I'm still wearing my dress from yesterday. I sighed and pulled open the next drawer. No surprise that one was empty too. I sighed again and walked into the bathroom. I was relieved to see a pile of clothes on the counter of the sink with a small note from Lara. I smiled at it; of course, she was the only one that would go through my underwear drawer.
I glanced at the mirror and cringed at my reflection. My eyes were puffy and bloodshot, my cheeks were flushed red and my makeup was smeared all over my face. I groaned and turned away as I started to take off my dress. Once my clothes were on the floor, I pulled out the clip of red hair and turned on the water.
I quickly washed and almost scrubbed my face raw to remove the makeup and tear tracks left from last night. I dried myself off and got dressed just as quickly. I threw my hair up in a clip without brushing my hair and zipped up the black hoodie Lara had in with my clothes. I grabbed the pile of dirty clothes and walked back into my bedroom and set everything on the bed. I slipped on my comfortable shoes that were still by my bed and went over and opened my bedroom door. The three men that left earlier were patiently waiting outside my door. Damon handed me a bag for my clothes and Abe handed me a stack of paper with envelopes and a pen.
"You can write your goodbyes if you like we still have about twenty minutes."
"Give me a couple of minutes." Abe nodded at me and the guys stayed out in the hall as I went over to my desk. I scribbled the names of my friends on separate envelopes and one for Dimitri. There is absolutely nothing I can say to them. I folded the blank papers into the envelopes and carried them over to the bed. I set them on top of the nightstand. I threw my dirty bra, underwear, and the corset into the bag and made the bed. I threw the dress and shoes on the bed, placed the letters on top, and grabbed the bag and walked out of my room. Once I closed the door I walked with everyone to go meet the Queen.
The meeting with the Queen was simple and a little disappointing. I had to explain what I saw last night for the report against Tasha. The Queen was not happy because Tasha had disappeared off of campus after she used compulsion on one of the Queens Guardian's along with the Guardian's at the gate. I wasn't surprised that she managed to get away, she was a cunning bitch. Once the meeting was over I said my goodbye to Alberta and gave her a bone-crushing hug which she returned. We headed to the cars and left the academy and headed to the airport to get on Abe's jet.
Hope you guys enjoyed this chapter next one will be up as soon as I finish it.
