Charlotte Babbin, 16.
District 4 Female.

Charlotte stepped onto the lush train, their mentor, Lexington in front of her and her District partner, Pedro following close behind. She wasn't exactly sure what to think of Pedro, she hadn't gotten a good read off him yet. She figured that may come with time however, getting to know him over the course of their stay in the Capitol. Sure, she was expected to ally with the Careers, and Pedro, District 4 pride as her father would say, but only one tribute would be coming out of that arena. And if she had to take out her partner, then so be it.

"Okay you two, go do whatever you want. Explore the train if you'd like, if not your rooms are just over there. I'll come and get you guys when its time for dinner. Also, feel free to ask me questions, that's what I'm here for." Lexington said, gesturing towards a nearby hallway. A pair of Peacekeepers slid the door closed behind them, and the train took off. Charlotte moved deeper into the train, looking around the well-furnished carriage. Sure, she'd grown up as the mayor's daughter, but she'd never seen anything quite this nice. She looked over at Pedro, who was standing nearby, a look of awe on his face. She figured she probably looked much the same. Lexington chuckled, looking on.

"Yeah, you think this is nice? Just wait until you try the food." Lexington said with a wry smile.

"So when are we gonna start, y'know. Talking strategy?" Pedro asked, look of awe falling from his face, a determined glint entering his eyes.

"Usually we'd do that at dinner, but if you wanna start now we can do that," Lexington replied, looking slightly surprised.

"We can start now, why not get a move on with it. And we'll be allying right, Pedro?" Charlotte chimed in.

"Well yeah, we're Careers," Pedro responded, nodding. Charlotte smiled, reaching out a hand to Pedro which he took, shaking it firmly.

"Hey, that's good, you two getting along is a good start," Lexington said with a grin. Charlotte figured her best play would be to get along with Pedro to make Lexington's job easier. The easier his job, the more he'd like her. And if he liked her, that would mean he'd be more willing to send her sponsor gifts. Besides, District solidarity was appealing to the Capitol.

"Okay, so let's get to planning then," Pedro said excitedly. He was eager, she'd give him that.

"Alright, sounds good. I'm just gonna grab some coffee and we'll get into it. Grab a seat." Lexington said. Both moved around to sit, Charlotte on a couch and Pedro nearby in an armchair. The pair sat for a few moments, realization hitting both of them now that they had a moment to think.

"So we're going into the Hunger Games," Pedro said as if the same thought was passing through both their minds at the same time.

"Yup, we are. We're gonna need to work together, just in case the other Careers are shit." Charlotte said. Pedro nodded in agreement. It was never a bad idea to have an insurance policy, just in case something went wrong with the other Careers.

"That's a good idea. I'm down." Pedro replied with a slight grin.

"That's good to hear," Charlotte said. It was good, her plans were going into place perfectly.

"Okay kids, let's get down to business," Lexington said, pushing the door open with a cup of coffee balanced in his hand. Yes, everything was going to plan. This would be nothing more than a business trip for her. Nothing more than a mild inconvenience.

Dustin Riley, 14.
District 9 Male.

Dustin leaned back on the couch, flicking through the various Capitol channels. He was, to say the least, bored as hell. Their mentor, Geoff, had tried to get them to do some "getting to know each other" activities, but neither Dustin nor Amara were having it. Eventually, Geoff gave up, and let them go off and do their own things. Dustin had taken over the living room, watching some stupid Capitol show, and Amara had disappeared into her bedroom, mumbling something about her head hurting. He didn't blame her, after the clusterfuck that occurred at the reapings, her getting knocked out and everything. He looked up as a door opened nearby, Amara in question padding into the room and taking a seat in the corner nearby.

"Would you like something from me?" Dustin said, not looking away from the tv.

"Dunno. Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?" Dustin replied, his tone monotone.

"That voice," Amara replied, her eyes daring around the room nervously. He didn't know what this girl's deal was, and he didn't really care. Wasn't his problem, why worry?

"You mean from the TV?" Dustin replied, raising an eyebrow slightly.

"No, it's not that," Amara said softly, shaking her head slightly.

"Alright sounds good. Let me know if you want me to change the channel." Dustin replied, turning back to the screen. Amara stood, mumbling something incoherent as she went. He sighed, all he wanted to do was watch some TV in peace. He could hear another door open, and footsteps approaching, he turned to look expecting it to be Amara again, but standing in the doorway this time was Geoff, their mentor.

"Hi, do you know where Amara is?" Geoff said, pushing his curly hair out of his eyes.

"Yeah, she was just here. She went back to her room I think. Why are you asking?" Dustin replied.

"Just worried about her, she seems a little off," Geoff said. He wasn't wrong it was worrisome, just not to him.

"Yeah, she was just in here talking about hearing a voice or something. Might wanna check that out." Dustin said with a shrug.

"Oh damn, okay," Geoff replied, pulling a small phone out of his pocket and dialling someone, stepping back out of the room as he did so. Dustin already knew he didn't want to ally with his District partner, she was seemingly too unstable, even for him. And that was saying something, he had a pretty low bar. He continued watching the shitty Capitol drama, Geoff's voice being drowned out by the dramatic yelling coming from the pair of Capitol women before him. He heard Geoff re-enter the room, and he turned down the volume of the show, turning to Geoff.

"So, what's going on?" Dustin asked, gesturing towards the general direction of Amara's room.

"Nothing you need to worry about," Geoff replied, shaking his head slightly.

"Alright, sounds good," Dustin said turning back to the TV. It wasn't his concern, so why push it? Geoff padded away, leaving Dustin to his own devices.

Eden Banks, 15.
District 12 "Female"

Eden curled up tighter under the covers, the large bed was fluffier than anything they'd ever encountered in their short 15 years of existence. It was quite a beautiful train, well decorated with things worth far more than they could ever imagine. It was strange, being left alone all these expensive things. Whenever their mother took them out shopping, she'd scold them for touching anything of value, in case they broke it. A knock rang out at the door, and Eden slid out from beneath the covers, sliding a bookmark into the book they'd been reading and placing it on the table before making their way to the door, opening it to reveal their mentor, Seraphina at the door.

"Dinners ready, come eat," Seraphina said, sweeping her colourfully dyed hair over her shoulder. Their District partner, Terce, poked his head over Seraphina's shoulder. Looking uninterested with the whole thing, he walked off towards the dining room Seraphina had shown them just a few hours earlier. Seraphina turned away from the door, following Terce and Eden followed her. They walked into the dining room, the ornately carved wooden table laden with food. They'd never seen this much food in their life piled on to one table.

"Take a seat wherever you want, I promise we don't bite." Fenris, their escort said gesturing to the empty seats around him. They slid into the closest chair to them, Terce seated opposite from them and Seraphina next to Fenris.

"So, do you two have any questions for me? Anything you'd like to know?" Seraphina asked as they dug into the heaping amounts of food before them. They and Terce made direct eye contact across the table.

"Do we have to be trained together?" Terce asked through a mouth full of potatoes.

"No, not if you don't want to be," Seraphina replied. Eden wasn't sure if they wanted to ally with Terce at this point, so they were glad that he'd asked the question. They'd have to wait and see more of him before they came to any conclusions.

"Okay, well I want to be trained separately," Terce said.

"Eden, are you okay with that?" Seraphina asked, turning to look at them. They were definitely not opposed to it, just based on how Terce had completely disregarded them and jumped right to wanting to be trained separately.

"Yeah, I'm fine with it," Eden replied, swallowing the food they were chewing before replying. Just because they were from a poor District didn't mean they had to be a complete pig while eating. Unlike them, Terce was currently shoving pasta in his mouth as if his life depended on it.

"What should we look for in allies?" Eden chimed in with their question.

"Well, what do you think you should look for? Allies who you can relate to, allies who will protect you, older or younger, or allies of the same age as you?"

"I wanna ally with the Careers." Terce piped up. The room went dead silent, everyone turning to look at him.

"What? Is that such a bad thing?"

"Well you don't typically just go for the Careers being from 12 and everything," Fenris said, his tone one of immense confusion.

"Why not? I want allies who can protect me, and the Careers can do that." Terce said with a shrug. Eden wondered what sort of drugs this kid was doing to think the Careers would take his scrawny ass into their alliance.

"Well, you can always ask. I can't guarantee they'll take you though." Seraphina said as an Avox cleared the table, replacing the dinner foods with all sorts of deserts. Eden didn't know where to start, so they grabbed a slice of chocolate cake.

"Alright, I'll make sure to let you know when I make it in," Terce said with a grin. Seraphina nodded exasperatedly as if she was already planning alternate alliances for him.

"I don't know what kind of allies I want, but I know I want some. I guess I'll have to see what the other tributes are like once we get to the Capitol." Eden said, butting into the conversation they'd started.

"Well, sometimes you can get a good sense of what a tribute is like just based off their reapings. We can watch the reaping re-runs after dinner if you want." Seraphina said, looking grateful to not be dealing with Terce. Eden nodded, their mentor was probably right. Seraphina smiled, before returning to her pie. Maybe things wouldn't be as bad as they thought they would be.

Lynus Delanova, 17.
District 3 Male.

Lynus was used to being up late, it was just apart of his routine at this point. He couldn't tell if his sleeplessness was from not being used to going to bed this early, or if it was his nerves. He rolled over, somehow unable to get comfortable in the most comfortable bed he'd ever slept in. He sighed, dragging himself out of bed. Maybe a glass of water would help. What he could really go for was one of his cats, but a glass of water would suffice. He padded from his room to the small kitchenette off the dining room. He grabbed a glass from the cupboard, filling it using the tap rather than trying to figure out how to use the weird Capitol contraptions Wendell had tried to explain to them earlier.

"Whatcha doing?" A voice rang out unexpectedly, Lynus jumped, turning to the doorway. Leaning against the door frame was his District partner, Selene.

"Oh, uh, just getting some water. Do you want anything? I can get out of your way if you'd like something." Lynus stuttered out, not quite sure what Selene was doing or why she was here.

"Nah, I just heard you leave your room and I decided to come to see what you were okay," Selene replied with a smile. Lynus liked her, she seemed genuine.

"Yeah, I'm fine. You sure you don't want anything?"

"I guess I'll take whatever you're having," Selene replied, her smile widening. Lynus nodded, going through the same motions he'd just gone through. He held the glass out to Selene, and she took it, smiling warmly.

"Shall we sit, and enjoy our drinks together?" Selene said as they stepped out of the kitchenette.

"Sure, if you'd like to," Lynus said, nodding. He figured he wanted to ally with Selene, and this would be a good chance to ask her about it. They walked to the nearby living room, Lynus sliding onto a large plush loveseat, and Selene sitting on the couch, folding her legs beneath her in what looked to be an uncomfortable way, however, she seemed perfectly fine with it.

"That doesn't look very comfortable." Lynus wondered aloud, Selene laughed at his comment.

"Yeah, I know. It's just comfy I guess, comes with the job."

"What do you do?"

"I'm a trapeze artist, at one of the travelling circuses. It's pretty fun in all honesty. What about you?"

"Oh, I uh, build robots and fight them in fighting rings."

"Dude what the hell! That's so cool!" Selene exclaimed excitedly. Lynus winced slightly at her volume, it was late and he didn't want to wake up Wendell or Lucinda, their escort.

"I guess yeah if you like that kind of stuff," Lynus replied with a slight smile.

"Well I don't really understand it, but I still think it's cool," Selene said. She was very enthusiastic, he'd give her that.

"Uh, yeah. Would you like to be allies?" Lynus asked he figured it would be best to just get it over with, like ripping a bandaid off.

"Hell yeah, I'd love to!" Selene replied, once again quite loudly. She held out a hand to Lynus, which he took, shaking firmly. Everything was going to plan, except the fact he didn't have a plan yet. But that was something he'd figure out not right now.
