Quark had been distracted all morning, even Rom notice his brother's mind was somewhere else. Rom thought that maybe he was working on a new latinum plan and decided not to bother his brother. If only he knew that Quark had a problem, he loves latinum and the rules of acquisition said a bar of latinum in hand is worth more than an empty promise. He knew that the assassin had targeted Major Kira, and he should probably warm her. But if he did that he would have to confess to his involvement and the major would not be, please. So what would he do?

In the storage area, Dax was waking up from being struck in the head. She calls for security and Odo with Sisko behind him met her in the storage area. Dr. Bahsir and O'Brien arrive at the same time.

"Dax, what happen?"

"Jake asked me to come down here with him to help with a surprise that he had for you. The next thing I know is I was struck from behind."

"Dax do not move you might have a mild concussion. I need to get you back to sick-bay."

"Why would Jake do something like that?"

"Commander it was not your son. It sounds like our assassin has begun to impersonate into Starfleet personnel."

"Why attack Dax?"

"Miles I don't think he wanted to attack Dax it sounds like she walks upon him while he was planning something."

"Dr. Bashir have you found a way yet to identify him."

"I'm close commander, but the scanner I'm working on will have a limited range."

"That will have to do, I need you to get that scanner working. Constable in the meantime I suggest that we keep everyone in pairs. No one is to be seen alone."

Bashir and Dax go off to medical, Odo, Sisko, and Miles go back to ops. The commander notifies Major Kira but she was busy setting things up with Tirek and the new Bajoran security force.

"Constable if someone wanted to confine you to a specific space how could they do it."

"Commander I'm not sure if this shapeshifter is anything like me but if he was it would seem like a low-level energy field could contain him."

"Miles I need you to start working on a containment unit. Once Bashir is ready with the scanner we need to be ready to move."

"Commander I'm going to increase my roving patrols to include other parts of the station besides that promenade."

As Odo leaves with one of his security officers by his side Sisko wonders the questions that no one had ask. Why was the assassin still aboard Deep Space Nine? His target had left for Bajor, so he had no way to complete his assignment but yet he was still here. With his abilities, he could have gotten passage on another transport. Why was he staying? Sisko was sure that there was more to this than a fail assassination attempt, but what?

On the promenade, Odo's security staff made for sure their presence was felt by their increase patrols, the other Dax went to one of the shops to stay out of their way. He was sure that the real Dax was probably awake by now, he should have finished her off when he had the chance. But he did not do freebies for anyone. He had to change this form he wonders who should be next.

"Aw, Dax it is always a pleasure for you to visit my store. Did you have something you needed me to repair? Maybe another patch job for one of your formal uniforms?"

Dax smiles looking at Garak, the simple tailor as he likes to call himself. The lone Cardassian on the station would be the perfect cover for him to complete his mission. He smiles as he tells Garak what he needs from him as the two of them disappear in the back.

In all the confusion Sisko remembers to call Jake to be sure that he was alright. Jack answers right away and when his father asks him where he had been most of the day. Jack looks away before looking shameful and admits that Nog had locked him in a maintenance locker earlier while they were playing. Jack said when he got out and found Nog that he acted like he didn't remember ever doing it.

Sisko tells Jake not to worry about it and to be ready for supper on time tonight. Sisko thinks that Nog was the missing piece of the puzzle. If he was Nog for awhile that could only mean that he had contact with Quark.

Walking out of the tailor shop Garak smiles looking down at his new form. This would be the perfect host to use to kill Major Kira and everyone will just blame the Obsidian Order.
