Friday Morning

Friday morning at 8:45, the doctor knocked on the Juliet's door.

Shawn got up and opened it.

"Good morning, Mr. Spencer. How are you?" Dr. Ard asked.

"I'm good. Are you here to see Jules?" Shawn asked.

"Yes I am."

Shawn stepped out of the way and let Dr. Ard in.

Dr. Ard entered the room.

"Good morning, Juliet. How are you this morning?" Dr. Ard asked.

"You know, I'm actually feeling great. I took a few steps last night and it didn't bother me at all." Juliet said.

"That's good. Can I take a look at your arm and stomach please."

"Of course."

Dr. Ard examined Juliet.

"Well Juliet, you look amazing. Let me go get the discharge papers and then you can go home." Dr. Ard said.

"Thank you so much. I'm so ready to be back home."

Shawn laughed, "I know sweetheart. Just a few more minutes."

Dr. Ard leaned in and whispered, "Is he always this funny?"

"Yes. Now that I get to go home, he's about to be in the best mood in the world." Juliet said.

Shawn tuned in and out to the conversation between the two women.

"What was that babe?" Shawn asked.

"Nothing. I'm just bragging on you." Juliet said.

Shawn smiled.

Dr. Ard got up, "Let me get those papers for you, Juliet."

Juliet nodded.

5 minutes later, Dr. Ard walked in and handed Juliet a clipboard with 4 pages of paper on it.

Juliet signed and dated all of them and handed them back to the doctor.

"Well Juliet, I am so glad you are doing better. I want to you see you in 3 months to check on everything." Dr. Ard explained.

"That's perfect. Do I need Shawn to go and start the car?"

Dr. Ard turned around and looked for Shawn.

Juliet laughed, "I guess he read your mind…like he's psychic or something."

Dr. Ard laughed, "Alright, you ready to walk to the chair?"

Juliet nodded.

As soon as Juliet got up Shawn ran up to her and grabbed her arm.

"I thought you were getting the car." Juliet said.

"I was. I parked it under the cover. I wanted to see you walk." Shawn said.

Juliet smiled, "How are you so sweet?"

"I have no idea. I know I didn't get it from either of my parents."

Juliet chuckled.

Shawn and Dr. Ard helped Juliet walk to the wheelchair.

Once Juliet was in the wheelchair Shawn wheeled her down to the car. He helped Juliet get in the car and shut her door.

"Well Shawn, she looks good. She's one hell of a fighter." Dr. Ard said.

"I know. She's the strongest woman I've ever met. She keeps me strong." Shawn said.

"You two are really good together."

"Thank you. We've been together for almost 30 years. We have 6 kids and we work together. To be honest, I wouldn't want it any other way."

"You're a lucky man, Mr. Spencer."

"Thank you. How long is she off her feet?"

"2 weeks minimum. She can go to work, but she can't go in the field."

"Oh she's gonna love that."

"Hopefully she'll understand."

"Yeah. Thank you again."

"No problem. You guys be safe."

Shawn nodded and got in the car with Juliet.

"Well Jules, are you ready to get back home?" Shawn asked.

"Yes, Mr. Spencer." Juliet said.

"I know you don't want to hear this, but you can't be in the field for a minimum of 2 weeks."

Juliet groaned.

Shawn grabbed Juliet's hand and kissed it.

"I know Jules. You can still go to work, but you can't be in the field." Shawn explained.

"At least I can go to work." Juliet pointed out.

"That's a good thing. Another plus is, that I get to be with you all day."

Juliet forced a smile.

"What was that smile for?" Shawn asked.

"What do you mean?" Juliet asked.

"You just forced a smile."

"Promise me you won't get mad?"

"Maybe."

"Shawn, I love you very much. You are my lifeline, but you hover when I'm down. I know it's because you love me, but sometimes I feel suffocated."

Shawn scoffed.

"Shawn…"

"No Jules. You don't need to say anymore. You've said enough."

Juliet nodded and turned and looked out the window the rest of the drive home.

Shawn pulled in the driveway, "Do you need help getting out or is that too suffocating?"

"You know what, Spencer, I got it." Juliet shot back.

Juliet got out of the car and held on to the car as she moved closer to the door.

Shawn stood back a few feet, just to be there in case she falls.

Juliet started to tumble and fell on her knee.

Shawn rushed to her side, "Baby are you ok?"

Juliet looked up at Shawn with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry for what I said in the car." Juliet cried.

Shawn sat down next to her and held her as she cried.

"Baby, you don't need to be sorry. I know I can hover excessively, but you know I do that, just to make sure you're ok." Shawn said.

"I know you do that because you love me. I guess I was wrong about needing you. I thought I could do this on my own. Now I know that I do need you."

"Jules, you were just trying to be strong. Trust me, I know how strong you are. That's why I didn't push anything. I know you got your own way of healing. I just want to be there to support you and be your crutch when you're tired."

Juliet looked up at Shawn through her tears, "I love you. I take back everything I said. I do need you. I will always need you."

"Good, because I'll always need you, but you already know that."

Juliet laughed and kissed Shawn.

Shawn got up and helped Juliet up and walked her to the couch.

Once Shawn got Juliet settled down on the couch, he turned on the TV and curled up next to her.

Two Hours Later

Two hours later, Maggie and Garrett came through the front door and saw Shawn and Juliet passed out on the couch.

Maggie walked over to Shawn and pushed him a little bit.

Shawn stirred and opened his eyes and saw Maggie.

"Hey Mags." Shawn whispered.

"Hey dad. How's momma?" Maggie asked.

"She's good. Much better. She walked a lot today."

"That's good. How are you?"

"I got my baby home, so I am a lot happier."

Juliet started to stir. She opened her eyes and saw Maggie and Garrett. She sat up and needed Shawn's help to turn around.

"Hey momma." Maggie said.

"Hey, baby girl. How are you?" Juliet asked.

"We're good. How are you?"

"Good. Thank you for coming to the hospital yesterday and taking care of your siblings."

"Of course. I just wish there is more that I can do."

"Maggie, you've done enough. I'm home and that means I have my own personal nurse."

"Do I get to wear a sexy nurse costume?" Shawn asked.

Juliet laughed "Absolutely not. Ew."

Maggie closed her eyes and shook the image from her memory.

"We are going to be here for a few hours, do you want me to cook anything?" Maggie asked.

"Garrett is here right?" Juliet asked.

Maggie nodded.

"Garrett!" Juliet called.

Garrett came around the corner running, "Yes ma'am."

"Can you make me some of your signature pasta dish?"

"Of course I can. Do you have the stuff for it? If not, we can go to the store."

"We have it."

"Alright. It will be ready in about 30 minutes."

"Thank you so much."

"Anytime."

Juliet curled up to Shawn and threw her arm around his waist and looked up at him.

Shawn looked down at Juliet and smiled, "What's on your mind there, pretty lady?"

"Just how thankful I am to have you as a husband. You never fail to make me feel safe. Your arms are my home. You're my home." Juliet said.

"Oh baby. I love you. You're my person. You've always been my person. Forever and Always. Me and you…FOREVER. You think you're up for the challenge?"

"Almost 30 years in and I'm still here."

Shawn bent down and kissed Juliet.

Garrett came around the corner and brought Juliet a helping of his signature pasta dish.

"Thank you, Garrett." Juliet said.

"You're welcome." Garrett said.

Juliet ate her pasta and enjoyed being home with her husband by her side.
