Return to Chaldea/Credits: Remember (Hiroyuki Sawano)

It had taken roughly three weeks to travel to Japan from France, thanks to their increased speed with horses suitable for Servants. When they reached the edge of China, taking a ship the rest of the way to Honshu, arriving in Kyoto, the capital of the Japanese empire.

Looking around, they noticed that this was like old Japan. Modern Kyoto, while retaining the old landmarks and the feeling of the ancient culture, had also modernized, with many skyscrapers, new buildings, shopping districts, and technology.

But this Kyoto was not modernized, it was in fact the old one, perhaps as it would have been at the start of the Meiji era.

"We need to find the Imperial Palace." Ritsuka said, Hayashi nodding and jumping up to the top of the tallest building nearby.

"I see it." Going back down, he led the others to the palace.

"Hayashi, would you mind telling me again about what happened leading up to Meiji's enthronement?" Raikou asked.

"Yeah. Well, one might say that the time that you lived was Japan at its most peaceful. Roughly 200 years after you, the arts had flourished so much that the Emperor didn't really run the government all that well. So, following a faction fight between the Minamoto and the Taira, Minamoto no Yoritomo, a descendant of your brother, formed a military government, the Shogunate, to rule on the Emperor's behalf. This worked well until the 1400s, where the Ashikaga Shogunate collapsed, and the country broke apart into samurai clans, fighting for control of the capital. In the late 1500s, Oda Nobunaga and her clan took control, until she was betrayed by Akechi Mitsuhide and forced to commit suicide. Her ally Toyotomi Hideyoshi took over, but he too died, so Tokugawa Ieyasu finished re-conquering Japan, establishing a new era and Shogunate. He closed the country off, and it once again flourished, staying out of foreign affairs and with limited Western influence, allowing them to evolve their culture and establish a close friendship with only the Dutch. By the time of the mid-1800s, multiple world powers wanted Japan to open up and participate in the changing world, and the current emperor at the time didn't want to, but Prince Meiji did, and so he, backed by a few samurai clans and newer soldiers, overthrew his father and became Emperor, perhaps the most influential in the country's history."

"I see...Looking around, I can tell that this is more familiar with the Kyoto that I would have known, as it doesn't look nearly as modern as London was…"

"No, it doesn't...which means that an older emperor is in charge of this space."

Upon setting foot inside the grounds, their surroundings changed, a reality marble having been activated. The new palace was now a towering structure, painted crimson to shine in the full moon, being in a large open field of tall grass in all other directions. Standing a short way in front of them was a samurai clothed in a black hakama.

"Hijikata." Hayashi stepped forward.

"Hayashi. Master." He looked at the two, his arms crossed.

"You're working for the Emperor?"

"Yes, as his bodyguard. If you want to get past, you'll have to keep me busy-"

Before Hijikata could finish his sentence, Hayashi had created a katana and clashed with his rival, who had unsheathed his own sword in the blink of an eye, not fazed by the surprise attack at all.

Hayashi took the stalemate as an opportunity to unleash his powers and increase his strength, kicking Hijikata away and dashing after him.

"Let's leave him to this, and head to the Emperor's room. Quickly, before they come back!" They headed towards the tower, while Hayashi kept Hijikata at bay.

"You know...I felt cheated out of my fight with you when I was alive...you killed me the first time, and Scathach had to defeat you the second since I was possessed...and my bouts with you in Chaldea have merely been sparring sessions in comparison. But now I can truly fight you to the death! Servant to Servant!" He yelled, dashing at him and slicing his sword multiple times, though Hijikata continued to parry them and attack back.

Hijikata grabbed him by the foot and tossed him away, instantly sheathing his sword and trading it for his rifle. Running at him, Hijikata aimed his rifle at Hayashi and prepared to fire it, but Hayashi used his quick reflexes to kick the barrel away just in time so that it fired into the air instead, then crafted an AK-47 and began to shoot at him, inflicting numerous gunshot wounds.

"HRAAAAAAHHHHH!" Hijikata's aura spiked, and he slashed his sword through the air, an energy shockwave following and knocking Hayashi away, shattering his gun.

"I don't suppose you're able to tell me the True Names of the Emperor or the Commander, are you?" Hayashi stood up.

"He brings change...to Japan...he makes it the most powerful!" He yelled, beginning to evolve into his true Berserker state."

"Brings change...Meiji?"

Hijikata yelled out again.

"Don't tell me you're working for your mortal enemy? Are you being controlled?"

As Hijikata's eyes turned red, Hayashi sighed, that being the confirmation to his question.

"How sad. I thought you were stronger than this. The Hijikata I know became Shogun and took over Japan in only a few nights. Yet here you are, a slave to the man who defeated you in life."

Hijikata yelled out again, his reason now completely gone, making his way towards Hayashi, who stood his ground, unarmed. Just as Hijikata was about to attack, Hayashi used his powers to the max level, turning his lightning blue, and he disarmed him in the blink of an eye, wrenching the rifle out of his grasp, kicking the sword out of his hand, and wrestling him to the ground, before slamming his head down, knocking him out.

"Fuck…" Hayashi gasped, slowly getting off of him.

"And now, I wait…" He looked over at the tower.

X

The others continued their way up all of the stairs, the magic power of the emperor getting stronger and stronger the higher they went. Finally at the top floor, they went down a hallway, multiple doors on the sides, but at the end was a massive set of ornate doors, clearly different from the rest.

Pulling the doors open, they found themselves in a huge room, with tatami mat floors, and in the middle, a large gazebo-like structure covered with curtains, and stairs leading down to where they were. The figure of a man could be seen from within, and slowly made their way out, walking down the stairs and addressing them all.

He wore a decorated military outfit, navy blue and gold trim, with a matching cape attached to his shoulder tassels. An ornate saber was at his waist.

"So you're here at last. Tsaress." He looked directly at Catherine.

"Are you the Emperor of the Japanese Empire?" She asked, stepping forward.

"I am indeed. You know me as Ruler of the End, but my true name is Meiji, the 122nd Emperor of Japan, and the last true Divine Emperor."

"What do you mean by that?"

"The Imperial Family is the oldest line of mages in Japan, and one of the oldest in the world. From the 1st Emperor onward, every one of us has been a mage, with some even participating in Holy Grail Wars, and some becoming Servants, such as myself. I became Emperor thanks to a rebellion against the Shogunate and the old ways, and after taking power, I decided not to teach any of my children or grandchildren magecraft. I saw it as potentially making the military and the government even more powerful and they would become easily corrupted. As such, I am the last Emperor who held any sort of power passed on from our ancestors."

"Rather similar to my own country's story, actually." Catherine said. "The closer to the modern era someone was, the less magecraft aptitude they had. I had a fair amount and studied it well while I was alive, but I am nothing compared to someone like Olga."

"It is the same for me. I'm sure you've realized by now, being a Ruler and all, about who and what I am?"

"...Yes. You're a figurehead."

"I wouldn't go that far. I am a false leader. Although I have been in charge of this empire, and am still a Top Class Ruler Servant and swordsman, I am not as strong as Saber, not by a longshot. He is your final obstacle."

"Then let's get this over with."

"Don't think this is going to be easy, just because I'm not your final challenge." He sneered, pulling out his katana with the satisfying sound of a silver blade being unsheathed and swung through the air.

Catherine unsheathed her own sword and dashed at him, the two beginning to trade and parry blows, but Meiji was easily keeping up with her, even overwhelming her.

Raikou and Nero joined in, as the other sword users, but Meiji kept them all at bay, and began to use light magic against them, launching light spears, avoiding the attacks though just barely considering the speed of them.

"Raikou! You shouldn't be fighting him! You should conserve your strength for Saber!" Ritsuka called out.

"Respectfully Master, we should all work together to make this easier for everyone, and defeat him as quickly as possible!"

"Do not worry Master, we will cover them as well!" Jeanne and Anastsia rushed in as well, supporting the others and using magic spells against Meiji, finally getting hit by a few of Ana's icicle spears, allowing for both Catherine and Raikou to slash him, with both lightning and light magic imbued in their swords.

Retreating and getting away from them, he gripped his chest, the cross-shaped sword wounds bleeding profusely. They prepared to go after him again, but were stopped when they heard heavy footsteps fast approaching.

"MEIJIIIIIIIIII!" Hijikata screamed, blasting through the doors, past the others, jumping up, and coming down swinging, Meiji blocking him with his own sword, red and gold lightning sparking off of their blades.

"Hijikata?! What's happened to you?!" He gasped as his sword was knocked out of his hand and Berserker cut through him, kicking him back against the wall.

"Hijikata! Hold it! Don't kill him yet." Hayashi called out, walking into the room as well.

"Hayashi, what did you do to him?!" Ritsuka asked.

"I beat him up a bit and got rid of Meiji's control. Now he knows who his real enemy is: the one who defeated him in life."

"RAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" Hijikata prepared to slash him again, but Meiji kicked at his ankles, knocking him over, and reclaiming his sword, though his left side was deeply cleaved into.

"Ugh...push past the pain…!" He dashed past Hijikata and sliced through him in a flash, then sheathing his sword again and causing the wound to open, Hijikata yelling out and dropping to the ground.

Raikou channeled electricity through her blade and ran up to him, beginning to trade swings again, the two of them fairly even, though she had the edge thanks to his previous injury.

Just as Meiji's feet hit the floor again, he became frozen, thanks to Ana's powers, the ice increasing around his feet so that he couldn't move. Raikou slashed downwards, injuring him again, though he prevented her from fully cutting through him by blocking the end of the strike with his own blade.

Hijikata used the last of his strength to toss his katana through the air, stabbing him in the back, making him flinch, then go still as his body slumped over, Ana undoing her spell so that he fell to the floor, disappearing to the Throne. Hijikata grinned one last time as he too was sent back.

"That was easier than I thought...I guess Saber really is the one running the country." Raikou sighed, as everyone relaxed for a minute.

"Now, where is he?" Hayashi asked.

X

"So what will happen if you win?"

"I'm not sure. That fox woman said that if we won, then this Singularity would keep going on forever. If we lose, then it disappears."

"Well that's pretty boring. Should we lose on purpose just so we can go back to the Throne and hope to be summoned?"

"That's just it. I don't know if I'll ever be summoned by anybody. I have to give up my Grand title to be contracted to a Master, and I'm not willing to do that. I can only be summoned through an anomaly or through the Counter Force to protect Earth."

"Awww...well, then hurry up and kill them and return to me. We can sleep together! Don't you want to sleep with me?" She smirked.

"No. I don't care that you're a goddess, you're my ancestor."

She pouted.

"I'll probably be borrowing your power for this battle."

"Yes, yes, I'll grant it to you."

"Thank you. I don't think that fox woman knows about our connection. She would have been more afraid of me if she had."

"She was originally part of me, I can't imagine she wouldn't know."

"I thought the same, but she made no mention of it. Her memories must be skewed, or she never was aware of my presence on the Throne before this."

"Does it really bother you that much?"

"...No. It matters not which of the Tamamo Nine talk to me, I alone have you."

"Precisely, so what's the worry? I'm sure you could kill her without breaking a sweat if it comes to that."

"Yes. It's time. I'll return soon."

His eyes slowly opened, and he stood up, looking up at the towering pagoda, sensing that the others were near the top.

Placing his hand on the hilt of his katana and moving one of his feet back into a combat stance, he gathered wind magic around himself and his blade, before launching himself off the ground and slashing a square of the tower off, blowing out into the field. Landing on the floor, the others eyed him.

"There you are." Raikou growled, pointing her sword at him.

"Here I am. Well done for defeating Meiji."

"It's all pointless if we can't defeat you."

"Yes. So, follow me." He backflipped back down into the field, the others all following him. Once they all left, the pagoda tower disappeared.

"You and me?" He asked.

"Yes. But before we do, I want to make sure of something. Your True Name…"

"My birth name was Kamu-Yamato Iware-biko no Mikoto, but in death I was named Jimmu, First Emperor of Japan. I suppose my real name is considered to be old Japanese, even by your standards."

"I thought so…"

"I also have another title. That of Grand Saber."

"...I see. That is why you are so much more powerful than I." She smiled a bit.

"That makes you happy?"

"Yes. Ever since you defeated me, I've been stressed about another samurai who's so much stronger than I, especially since I was never aware of them in the Throne of Heroes. But if you're here as a Grand Servant, then the gap in our strengths is not so wide as that."

"No, perhaps not. But that shouldn't mean you should underestimate me. There is little difference whether I am summoned in my Top form or my Grand form; I retain the same abilities in both. And I assure you, I am the strongest Japanese Servant. Considering how Japan is today, there will never be another Servant that comes close to our levels of strength."

"I do not care about new Japanese Servants, I care about you and I. Great Ancestor, as one of the heirs of the legendary Minamoto Clan and your Great-Granddaughter of many generations, I retain the right to challenge you to a duel, and I exercise that right now!"

"Very well then. I accept your challenge. As the ancestor to the illustrious Minamoto Clan, I am obligated to duel you. But I want you to come at me with your full strength this time."

"I will if you will."

"That depends on how hard you push me. I don't showcase my full strength to those not deserving of it."

"...Fine. My blade is the greatest of the Tenka-Goken, the five most valued swords in Japan, and a National Treasure and important historical and mythological artifact. I am one of the few Servants given complete control over lightning. Now taste its power! Dojigiri Yasutsuna!" Her blade channeled purple lightning, and she dashed at him, clashing with his own blade.

Jimmu stood his ground, and his own blade seemed to disperse her electricity, surprising her as he slashed her away.

"...I thought your katana used wind magic?!" She asked.

"Yes, it does. It also uses lightning, and fire. Have you forgotten what I did to your Master last time? I electrocuted him."

Her eyes widened and she gritted her teeth.

"Lord Susanoo, I require your strength. Give me permission to use the first of the Imperial Regalia, the first level of power for this treasured blade, the greatest of all swords in Japan, and a legendary sword throughout the world, even more powerful than the Holy blades Excalibur and Gram. Let your storms imbue this blade with the power to slay my enemy, in a bid to show them the superior might of Old Japan! First Noble Phantasm activate! Kusanagi no Tsurugi!

An immensely powerful blast of lightning shot out of his blade before continuously sparking off of it, as he drew back into a combat stance before slashing at her, pushing her back, but the two continued to trade blows, though he did have the upper hand.

"I'll have to use the others…" She summoned the lance of her retainer Usui Sadamitsu, knocking him away again with a burst of wind, going after him again with both sword and lance, changing the two often and beginning to gain some ground again, making him have to counter strike after strike.

Using both at once, the lightning from her sword and the wind from the lance cut through his armor at last and blew him back.

"Heh...not bad. Not bad at all. Very well then. You've earned my second level."

He reached into his clothes with his free hand and pulled out a necklace, with a jade magatama on the end.

"Lady Amaterasu, I require your strength. Give me permission to use the second of the Imperial Regalia, the second level of power for this treasured blade, the greatest of all jewels in Japan, and a legendary necklace throughout the world, even more powerful than the Necklace of Harmonia and the Necklace of the Lady of the Lake. Let your gales imbue this blade with the power to slay my enemy, in a bid to show them the superior might of Old Japan! Second Noble Phantasm activate! Yasakani no Magatama!"

The gem glowed green, and a burst of wind swirled around him and the Kusanagi in addition to the lightning, as if an actual storm was surrounding him.

Raikou sheathed her sword and her lance disappeared, instead summoning a bow this time, firing multiple arrows with wind swirling around them, though Jimmu parried all of them, dashing across towards her again, the wind enhancing his movements so that he was merely a blur.

'That's why he was so fast the first time...He's using the wind…!' She thought before he slashed her across the field again, delivering a flurry of strikes that were too fast to counter, cutting her body up pretty badly. She managed to create distance again by channeling lightning throughout her body and unleashing it in a blast, recovering and summoning Kintoki's Axe, jumping into the air and slamming it down on him with a massive pillar of electricity, hoping that he didn't avoid it.

"Not bad. Not bad at all. I'm impressed that you've managed to deal a fair amount of damage to me without even using your Noble Phantasm yet. And it seems that just my lightning and wind alone won't be able to cut it, since you also have control over both elements. So, in that case…"

He sheathed his sword and a red and orange aura began to surround him and pulse outwards.

"Lady Amaterasu, I require your strength once again. Give me permission to use the last of the Imperial Regalia, the third level of power for this treasured blade, the greatest of all relics in Japan, and a legendary mirror throughout the world, more powerful than most other precious artifacts. Let your flames imbue this blade with the power to slay my enemy, in a bid to show them the superior might of Old Japan! Third Noble Phantasm activate! Yata no Kagami!" The mirror appeared in front of him and began to spin, fire starting up around the edges and transferring over to him.

A tornado of fire blazed around him and the hilt of his blade, spreading outwards and eradicating much of the grass in the field.

'The last of the Realia...Goddess Amaterasu's mirror that drew her out of the cave to bring sunlight back to the world…' Raikou thought to herself, looking at the elements swirling around his sword.

"Let's see if you can keep up with me now." He unsheathed his katana again and clashed blades with her again, easily cutting through her and burning her, his strikes much more powerful than before.

"Ugh!" She summoned the sword of her retainer Watanabe no Tsuna and began to go at him with both katanas, attempting to land a blow, but Jimmu once again had the advantage and blasted her away with his flames.

"I need to do damage again...before I really get hurt…" Raikou's magic power increased and four clones wielding the weapons of her retainers were summoned by bolts of lightning.

"Come forth, my loyal retainers, my hands and feet, my armor...the Four Heavenly Kings are as you see before you. Now...Vengeful Lightning of the Ox-King!"

The clone with the bow fired wind arrows that pierced him, then the one with the axe slammed down on him, the two with the sword and lance attacked as well, and the real Raikou gathered up purple lightning on her blade, as much as she possibly could, before unleashing it in a blast at him with a spin.

Jimmu held out his own sword to block it, but was unable to contain all of it, and was damaged by it.

Once the explosion and the smoke went away, it was clear that some of his armor was broken, but he was not impaired otherwise.

"Damn it…" Raikou coughed, falling onto her knees.

"So that was your best. Indeed, it makes no difference if you were to fight me as a regular Saber or not. I have still yet to use my full potential."

She gave no answer, just glared at him trying to catch her breath.

"I remind you that the stakes are high, something that I feel you've forgotten. This is not just a battle between you and I." He glanced over at the others and held his hand out, a gust of wind pulling Ritsuka over to him.

"No! Stop!" Raikou called out. "Leave him out of this!"

"How can I? He's your Master, and therefore, the whole reason we are even fighting in the first place."

"Y-You're wrong! I wanted to prove myself! To fight you again! He wanted to stop me!"

"I see...I believe you. However, the fact remains that he is my enemy." Finally within range, he stabbed him, a burst of flames and lightning going out through his back, making Ritsuka cough up blood and fall onto the ground.

"MASTER!" Raikou cried out.

Jeanne moved to help him, but Catherine stopped her, sensing that this was the push that Raikou needed.

"Nngh…!" Raikou was suddenly enveloped in a sphere of lightning, sparking everywhere, before she cut through it, standing up again with a different expression on her face, one of complete anger.

"I'll kill you…!" She growled, her sword being engulfed in lightning again.

"Ushi Gozen's in control…" Hayashi warned.

Much faster and stronger, Raikou unleashed a flurry of strikes on Jimmu, who could only block some of them, constantly getting hit by her.

"You said I'll have to do better? How about this?!" She slashed him away and jumped into the air, preparing to swing downwards, but he blocked her, enhancing the flames on his sword to create distance between them, then dashing at each other and matching blow for blow.

"You've run out of tricks, haven't you?!" She yelled, kicking him away and launching another burst of lightning at him.

"No, I haven't." He threw his sword through the blast, shattering it, dodging out of the way of the attack himself.

"What…?! Why would you…?!" She asked.

"My last trick, so to speak." He answered, as she dashed after him again, this time standing his ground, taking his necklace off and throwing it at her blade just as she slashed, cutting through the magatama instead of him as he jumped back once more, summoning the mirror.

Raikou, unable to do anything else, attacked once again, and smashed the mirror into pieces, Jimmu smiling as he sat on the ground, getting into a meditation pose, and a powerful fire aura prevented Raikou from reaching him, no matter how much she slashed at it; her sword just bounced off.

"Raikou! Master is okay! Calm down!" Jeanne called over, having healed him and brought him back over to the others. Looking over, she was relieved, and exhaled heavily, ridding herself of her temporary demonic personality.

"Amaterasu. As per the condition of activating this final Noble Phantasm, all Regalia have been broken, and now I ask for you to become one with me. As both your descendant and the first ruler of Japan, I guide the people physically, mentally, and spiritually. All Emperors, past and future, will pray to us, and make themselves in our image. They called me an invincible warrior; shall we show them our full power?" He recited. A metaphysical form of Amaterasu appeared, hugging him from behind.

"Yes, we shall." She disappeared, seemingly going inside of him.

"Very well. Final Noble Phantasm activate! Divine Warrior: Goddess' Chosen." Upon saying those words, Jimmu's shield disappeared and his aura expanded as he stood up, an explosion of fire engulfing him as he emerged in a god-like state.

His whole body was no longer skin, it was fire, though still in the shape of a human, and his eyes were glowing white. He was floating, looking at the rest of them.

"...The duel is over." His voice boomed. "I always like to keep things fair, and I'm telling you right now, you are not going to do anything to me by yourself. I permit your friends to join in an attempt to defeat me."

Raikou ignored him and ran towards him again but he blew her away with just a burst of wind from outstretching one of his hands.

"You clearly didn't hear me, so I'll say it again. I am no longer simply Jimmu. Amaterasu has also lent me her power. You won't be able to touch me by yourself." He said in a much more commanding tone than before.

"Tch…" Raikou looked over at the others, and the others came forward, save for Jeanne, who watched over Ritsuka.

"Olga!" Catherine called out, transforming into her ancestor, her magic power increasing drastically.

Hayashi summoned twin katanas made from his lightning, and Nero and Anastasia readied their own abilities.

Jimmu crossed both of his arms and swiped them outwards, vortexes of flames being cast from his palms, scorching the ground.

"Move!" Olga called out, all of them avoiding the attacks.

"We have to use our Noble Phantasms on him to do any damage." Olga said, the others nodding as she went out to keep him busy. The two exchanged flames, just about even, as Olga unsheathed her sword and went at him, coating it in darkness and slashing across him, seeming to injure him somewhat, though the wound disappeared, as he healed it just as soon as it was made.

"Open the gate! The curtain to the solo stage draws!" Nero had gotten behind him and planted her sword into the ground, creating her theater around them.

"Behold my talent! Listen to the thunderous applause! Praise it! The Golden Theater! Laus Saint Claudius!" She dashed at him and slashed her sword engulfed in flames, again wounding him but not doing any significant damage as he grabbed her by the throat and channeled fire through his arm, burning her before throwing her aside, Jeanne running over to heal her too.

"Viy, see everything. Shoot through everything. Put that enormous power in my hoarfrost. Viy Viy Viy!" Anastasia called out, blowing cold wind from her mouth and freezing him momentarily as Viy appeared and grew in size, smashing him with its fists a few times, breaking the ice.

"Ugh!" Jimmu finally took some real damage after getting hit onto the ground and tried to blast Anastasia away with a mix of fire and lightning, but Hayashi took the attack instead, protecting her.

"Go!" He told her as she ran back to Jeanne, and Hayashi looked over at the Emperor's godly form.

"Verg Avesta!" He called out, Jimmu getting blown back again as Hayashi's injuries reflected on him as well. He then tossed both of the swords he made at him, though he knocked both away and they disappeared. But it was just enough of a distraction to get Olga behind him.

"Damn it…!"

"Porschay. Genotsid Drevlyan." She outstretched her hand and closed it into a fist, a massive explosion of light and darkness engulfing him, blowing off some of the magic cloak and making him fall to the ground.

"The end. Gozu Tennou, the Eastern Deity, Vajra of Indra. That is, the spear of the divine, made from sacred sacral bone. Now, come forth and annihilate every foe. Sakra's Vajra!" Lightning struck around her as a large vajra appeared on the ground next to her, electricity sparking off of it. She picked it up and continuously spun it around to gain momentum before tossing it at him, piercing him right in the heart before releasing all of its energy, an enormous blast of lightning shocking him to his core, destroying his final Noble Phantasm.

"I'm...just about out of magic power…" Raikou gasped, dropping to her knees.

"As...am I…" Jimmu coughed, making her look up in shock, seeing him still standing, though the armor and clothes on his upper body had been blown away.

"I will finish this." Olga prepared to attack him again.

"No! Please wait! You promised me that I would at least get to finish the fight and land the final blow!" She pleaded.

"...Very well." She lowered her hand and stepped aside, Hayashi going back to the others, Olga standing nearby just in case.

Raikou and Jimmu ran at each other using only their fists to land blows, his punches landing more and knocking her back, but she kept at it, dodging as she could. He threw another punch at her face but she sidestepped and punched him in the chest then kicked him in the face, knocking him over. Grabbing her sword from its sheath, she stood over him and stabbed him, finally ending it.

"Ugh…" With one final attack, he breathed fire and lightning from his mouth, knocking her back onto the ground, unable to get up anymore.

"Well...done…" He coughed out, managing to pull the sword out of himself as he began to disappear.

"I'm proud to call you my descendant...you were clearly someone worthy of both mine and the Minamoto legacy."

"No…*sniff* I wasn't…!" She sobbed.

"Why are you crying?"

"I couldn't defeat you. I had to get help…"

"True...but that is nothing to be ashamed of."

"My revenge is unsatisfied...I wanted to defeat you one on one!"

"...Your goal this time around was to defeat me no matter the cost, in order to stop this Singularity. Perhaps if your Master summons me, we can go again. After all, I normally don't, but I may just be willing to give up my title of Grand temporarily if it meant seeing you and further descendants of mine. Until then, keep training and getting stronger."

"...Alright." She smiled, though she knew he couldn't see it, as he finally disappeared and the Reality Marble shattered as well, bringing them back to Kyoto once again.

X

Now all healed, Ritsuka's group looked at Victoria and Catherine, who were also beginning to disappear.

"Do you have to go already? I wanted to spend more time with you…" Anastasia asked sadly, looking at both of them.

"It's not the end. We're still up in the Throne, you know. Just have your Master summon us, and we'll spend as much time with you as you like." Catherine smiled warmly at her.

"Ugh...my Quartz...three more Servants I need."

"I'll be there for moral support, Master!" Anastasia told him.

"I will as well, Master." Raikou smiled.

"Goodbye, Ana." Victoria said, as the princess went and hugged both of them as they disappeared.

"I suppose it's time we head back as well." Ritsuka said, as he saw the portal leading back to Chaldea appearing. He walked through, and the others followed him, leaving Hayashi as the last one.

"Oh...I'm too late." Koyanskaya appeared from afar, walking towards Hayashi from the other direction.

"You're one of the Alter Egos, right? Tamamo Vitch?"

"Yes, I am. Though I would prefer it if you'd call me Koyanskaya~"

"Fine. Were you in charge of creating this Singularity?"

"Yes, I was! Under the right conditions, we were able to create it and summon the Servants as well. Good job fighting them! Though I must say that you had a great deal of help from Catherine."

"...Are you not worried that if my Master summons both Catherine and Jimmu that you will be outclassed?"

"Oh, I don't know about that...I'm pretty strong."

"...I don't see much, to be honest."

"What…?" She clicked her tongue, shooting him an angry glare.

"I've fought some pretty powerful threats. And I don't think you stack up that well. I know Alter Egos are different and everything, but...I wouldn't put in the same effort against you."

"Heh...so cocky...care to try your luck? I would destroy you right now."

"I can see right through you. Stop bluffing. You can already sense my magic power, can't you?" He responded, not fazed by her facade at all.

"What...exactly are you? You're a Servant, but you're also human...how did you become a Servant?"

"I defeated numerous Servants summoned by a certain someone who was trying to steal my body. I stopped them from taking over the world and was partially responsible for revealing magic to the public, at least in my own timeline."

"Interesting. So you know about who I serve?"

"Yes. Another Beast who thinks they're better than everyone here. I hate God Complexes."

"They are better. I know what you mean, but you can't win."

"Yes, we can. We always will. You want to know why? Because Chaldea already survived. After your attack, Master and the others got away, and once you found out, you weren't worried, you said 'oh, they'll never be able to stop us and these Lostbelts.' Fast forward to now, we've already completed six of them, and we just conquered your little Singularity too. Cute, really. As long as the heroes survive, they win. It's just the way things go. When I was alive, I was captured by my enemy, and five Grand Servants took over their homelands in a matter of a few nights. It looked pretty grim, but my Servants survived, and fought back, and freed me. And we won, in the end."

For once, she found herself at a loss for words.

"I'm going to leave before you think of something else to say. I'm not giving you the satisfaction of having the last word. Just know that your Foreign God is going to come crashing down on top of you, just like Goetia did." He walked through the portal as it closed, making Koyanskaya bite her lip and clench her fists.

"Hayashi?" Ritsuka knocked on his door.

"What is it?"

"Can I talk to you for a few minutes?"

"Yeah." He opened the door. "What is it?"

"It's just...I'm sorry. For what happened in St. Petersburg. You were right. And I didn't know about your past."

"Oh, don't worry about it. I just wasn't ready to share it with you yet. I think this mission was the true test of determining whether you're a worthy Master for me or not."

"And? How did I do?"

"I'd say you passed with flying colors. I'll have to train you a bit to make you stronger, but other than that, you seem fine. Just remember what I told you when you summoned me. Betray me and I'm coming for your neck."

"Heh...don't worry. I won't." He smirked as he walked out.

"Then we're going to get along just fine."

The end. For real this time.
