"Get off him!" I snarled in surprise. Nico was doing his best to slash the beast with the knife of the undead. But Nick was a vampire hunter not a wereduck hunter.

I don't know why I felt the need to protect Nico all of a sudden. Sure, I wanted to make sure that He was happy but that didn't mean I cared about him.

Right?

I pondered this while I crouched down, hiked my heels as if I was about to sprint then pushed off. Fast. It was like I was vibrating in and out of a different time zone. I can see in slow motion Nico struggling as he gripped the beasts neck, trying to break it.

How did I gain this power?

Was it because of the baby growing inside me?

Why now?

I sprang on top of the beast. It reared its head back as I pulled it off Nico and slammed me against the wall. I groaned and my head swarmed making my vision blurry but I can still sense the beast and hear it snap its jaws at me. I could sense of crouching down, totally ignoring Nico now who was slowly getting up. I could see blood gushing out of his side.

Nico and I may have no humanity in us, but that doesn't stop with the pain. That is the only feeling Nico and I feel on our own. Pain.

"THAT'S ENOUGH!"

A male's voice bellowed near a corner.

I struggled to get up and noticed Nico glaring at the man.

"Boyd you idiot! Keep that beast on a leash!" Nick snarled.

" Sorry, Nico! " Squeaked a boy who looked no older then ten-years-old came into view along with a very stern looking older man came in. His eyes darted from the beast, Nico, then to me as the smaller one quickly came over to the beast and quickly hooked a leash around the collar neither of us noticed it was wearing.

"T,that thing is your pet?" I stammered, staring at the boy as he pulled the beast closer to him and the taller man.

" Yeah, only when he is transformed, he should be fine in about a minute... " Boyd told me sheepishly. "It's been taking a lot longer for him to change back recently. I think it's because he senses something terrible is about to happen with the vampires so he is on high alert..."

Big?

I glanced down at my stomach in fear for the first time since I found out I was pregnant.

No.

It can't be...

"Nico, you better have a good reason for bringing an outsider here." The taller man snapped at him.

"N,Not an outsider! " Nico gasped out then started to slumped to the ground again until I rushed quickly over to him and caught him.

The man's eyes gleaned brightly at me.

"Ah, I see now..." He muttered. " Bring him through here, mate of Scrooge McDuck. " The man told me.

My left eye twitched when he referred to me as Scrooge's mate.

" The name is Webby. " I told him as we entered a sort of science lab, much like you would see in the Frankenstine films. The man waved his hand over towards a table and I shuddered when I saw the straps dangling off the side as I helped Nico on top of it as gently as I could.

"Hi, Webby!" Boyd gushed. " I'm Boyd, " He said introducing himself, "and he (Boyd pointed to the man), is Gyro, and this... " Boyd's voice trailed off as the beast slow!y began to turn into, "Fenton." Boyd finished.

Fenton groaned as he rubbed his head and blinked feverishly.

"What'd I miss?" He asked seeing me and Nico.

"You almost killed my friend over there." I snapped at him, waving my hand towards Nico.

" N,Not your friend. " Nico shot back.

I rolled my eyes.

"Just shut up and let him heal you. We don't have Lena with us so this is gonna take a lot longer." I told him as Gyro started tending to his wound.

"I said no one orders me around." Nico let out a raspy snarl, then slumped on the table in defeat. Then sighed deeply."Why is it whenever you are with me, bad things happen? " He groaned out.

I raised an eyebrow at him but said nothing.

He was right.

First I killed his sister, forcing him working for the most evil of Vampires just so he could finish the cure that his parents started and hope to bring his sister back while her soul resided in me, not to mention the truce, and now the were-duck...

I let out a tired sigh.

"So, I take it the resistance doesn't know about this?" I asked Fenton as he dusted himself off and shook himself. I remembered Violet talking about a Fenton. I assumed this was him.

"No." Fenton said. "Nor do I take it that they know about you." He said, raising an eyebrow and crinkling his bill. "I can smell the tainted blood, Webbigail. You are a soul sucking vampire." He accused.

"Don't remind me." I muttered.

"I won't tell if you won't." Fenton said, holding out a hand and smiling warmly at me. I stared at it for a long time then shook it as I looked back up at him he winked at me. "Us outsiders gotta stick together, right?" He asked.

"Right." I grumbled.

"Intern! Stop whispering over there and help me with Nico!" Gyro snapped, making Fenton jump and scurry off to help him. Boyd was dangling his tiny webbed feet on a chair and beaming at me as Gyro patched up Nico.

"I can hear them. The souls inside you." He said, suddenly, his eyes never lingering from mine.

I froze.

"How'd -." I asked, staring at him.

Boyd continued to kick his little feet and still beaming at me answered.

"I was once a human soul. Now, I'm this, robot, was brought to life by Gyro." He explained. "I can see, hear, and feel the souls of the dead." He told me.

"Wait, how'd did Gyro even -." I began to say, my head was swarming with questions.

"It happened when the virus struck." Boyd explained. "I was on the street, on the verge of death. Gyro found me, he couldn't bare to see another child die. So, with the aid of Mr. McDuck he -."

"That's enough, Boyd!" Gyro scolded, as he finished wrapping bandages around Nico's ribs. I tried not to blush when I saw his rock hard abs. He was just as ripped as Dewey...

I blinked and scolded myself mentally. Refusing to feel the tiniest bit guilty. What was the harm in looking?

"But -." Boyd whined.

"We do not speak of the Mr. McDuck's personal life, especially not with his mate." He told him firmly.

Boyd hung his head in shame.

"Wait!" I said, resisting the urge to grab onto Gyro's arm. I really didn't need another soul inside me at the moment. I was still recovering from the billions of others I stolen from the night before. "If, If you could do that with a soul, put it inside a robot, then, then would Scrooge have done that with me?"

"I wouldn't know." Gyro snapped.

"Would it be possible though. Could he have kept my soul in something like a robot? Instead of making me believe that he actually drained it from me?" I asked.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Nico stiffen at the questions that I was asking.

Oh. My. God.

I looked at him sharply.

"Nico." I growled.

"Don't even try, Webbigail." Nico snapped. "Neither Gyro or I have permission to discuss this type of conversation with you."

"But -." I stopped as realization started to dawn on me. "I, I have to ask him. Don't I?" I whispered.

Nico and Gyro glanced at each other.

"You can certainly try," Nico said, "but I doubt he'd tell you anything. If he did, it would come with a price." He told me.

The fact that I could possibly still have my soul somewhere and it wasn't totally gone filled me with more hope then I didn't even know I could feel.

"Okay." I said, with determination." I turned and marched off towards the way we came in.

"Where are you going?" Nico called. I looked back over at him and squinted my eyes.

"I'm going back to the archives. I have some much needed research to do before..." My voice trailed off and I shuddered. "Before I have to see him again." I whispered.

Nico scoffed.

"You might have changed since last night, Webby." Nico said, "You said you weren't afraid anymore. I wonder though, you seem more frightened of Scrooge then anything else. Better fix that if you ever want to beat him." He told me.

I stared at him.

He had called me Webby. It was the first time he ever called me that since we met.

"I'm working on it." I told him, finally, and turned to walk off towards the hide out.

I was stopped shortly when I saw Huey walking quickly and swiftly to the abandoned building that I had once asked him about if he knew who had owned it.

It made me pause and stop.

What was he doing?

Huey paused at the entrance, lifted his sunglasses, and had the scanner by the door scan his eyes before the door opened up and he slipped inside.

I ran up to the building, trying hard not to get noticed by what looked like security cameras that still looked as if they still worked, and peered inside the building.

I saw Huey, standing in front of someone, it was Donald, and they were talking frantically at each other before Huey handed him a small piece of paper before he turned and started to leave the way he came in.

I felt a shiver run down my spine.

What was Huey doing with an agent of S.H.U.S.H? Sure, he was their uncle, but still...

What was he doing sneaking around?
