Chapter 17:
Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
But David and Summer are unaware, for Bucky, Bess, and Mort never left them alone. The Three Friends just watched them hidden from view in a nearby bush. Bucky and Bess were disgusted by this. But Mort doesn't seem bothered by this at all. Then David and Summer walked off together and disappeared. Bucky heavily sighed and said " I tell ya guys, this stinks,". " Whoops. Sorry," said Mort, " Not you Mort. Them!" said Bess pointing to David and Summer, "Him. Her. Alone," said Bucky, " What's wrong with that?" asked Mort, then Bucky and Bess begin to sing…
Bucky: We can see what's happening.
Mort: { Speaking } What?
Bess: And they're not on a tree.
Mort: { Speaking } Who?
Bucky: They'll fall in love and here's the bottom line.
Bess: Our Family Of Four goes down to three.
Mort: { Speaking } Oh.
Bucky then sings in a sarcastic mock-french accent.
Bucky: Ze sweet caress of twilight.
Bess sang in her normal voice, but also sarcastic.
Bess: There's magic everywhere.
Bucky: And with all this romantic atmosphere…
Bucky and Bess: Disaster's in the air.
We then go to David and Summer and they are in front of a magnificent waterfall and we hear a female singer beginning to sing.
Female Singer: Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
The peace the evening brings.
The world for once, in perfect harmony.
With all, it's living thing.
After walking around each other and taking each other's movement, David and Summer stop to drink at the waterhole. Then we hear David and Summer's mind of what they're thinking about.
David: So many things to tell her.
But how to make her see.
The truth about my past?
Impossible.
She turned away from me.
Summer: He's holding back, he's hiding.
But what I can't decide.
Why, won't he be the leader I know he is.
The Leader I see inside?
David looked at Summer with a smile and ran off. Summer was curious about what David's doing. Then David runs back, grabs a rope with his mouth, and splashes in the middle of the pond as the Chorus begins to sing…
Chorus: Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
The peace the evening brings.
Summer looks out over the water. Suddenly, David lunges up under Summer and wraps his forelegs around her neck and playfully pulls her into the pond. Summer immediately comes out of the pond dripping. When David comes out, Summer smiles at him and pushes the HippoGriff Stallion back in the pond. We then see the two HippoGriffs running through the fields.
Chorus: The world for once, in perfect harmony.
With all, it's living things.
The two HippoGriffs ended up playfighting with each other until they tripped and tumbled down the hillside.
Chorus: Can You Feel The Love Tonight?
You needn't look too far.
After tumbling down the hill, David and Summer landed in the grass as some butterflies began to flutter around the two HippoGriffs. David ends up laughing for he has pinned Summer for the first time in his life. Then Summer gives David a tiny kiss on the cheek. David looked startled and looks at Summer. Summer stares back with a seductive smile. David's expression then changed from surprise to a comprehending one.
Chorus: Stealing through the night's uncertainties.
Love is where they are.
As the last lyrics were sung, the two HippoGriffs rubbed each other's heads passionately. Then we go back to Bucky, Bess, and Mort being tearful when they thought they lost a family member.
Bucky: And if he falls in love tonight.
Mort sniffs.
Bess: It can be assumed.
Then Bucky and Bess hugged Mort tearfully.
Mort: His carefree days with us are history.
All Three: In short, Our pal is doomed.
Then all of The Three Friends started crying at full force. Now knowing they've lost a family member.
