Chapter 17
Crystal Tokyo, 30th Century
"The future? Why?" Seiya asks.
"For you, to hopefully, see what YOU are taking from Usagi. Follow me." Mamoru responds, and walks toward the palace.
To Seiya's confusion they walk thru the gates, and around the palace. Seiya can hear voices, and a child laughing. As they come around the building Seiya stops at the sight before him.
Sitting in the grass is Usagi, wearing a shimmering white gown with gossmair wings, and a crown with a red stone in the center. Sitting near her is Mamoru in a violet suit with medallions hanging from his neck. He watches as Usagi leans over and tickles a little pink haired girl, with hair in odangos like Usagi's. The girl looks just like Usagi. The little girl squeals, and tries to run away before Mamoru grabs her, lifts the child over his heads, and laughs.
"Who are those people?" Seiya asks.
"They are Neo-Queen Serenity, King Endymion, and their daughter ChibiUsa." Mamoru responds.
"And this means what exactly?"
"Look closely Seiya. That is Usagi, and I along with our daughter."
"What?"
"At some point between our time, and this times, some thing occurs on the Earth which causes everything, and everyone into a deep sleep. At the beginning of the thirtieth century Neo- Queen Serenty, or Usagi as we know her now, reawakens the Earth. She, and I become the King and Queen of the Earth. That you see right there, is about five years after the awakening."
"But, how do you know this?"
"You remember the pink haired girl Usagi, and I saved?"
"Yes."
Mamoru proceeds to explain about the Dark Moon Clan, Prince Diamond, Wiseman, ChibiUsa, and the trip to the future. It all seems so crazy, but Seiya remembers bits and pieces from all that he has seen.
"Now Seiya, look at them again. Do you see the happiness, the love, the connection there?"
"Yes."
"Your thought of taking Usagi away, makes that go away. She loses all of that."
"But she can have that with me."
"No, she can't. Without her and I together, the Earth will forever cease. Our love, together, our bond, in all lives, combined, have saved the world in the past, and will continue to do so. She and I are nothing without the other. You trying to take her away, takes away all she knows, and loves. Can you do that to her? Can you put her thru that pain? Are you really that selfish?"
"How can you be so sure? How do you know?"
"Because I can feel it. Tell me, what kind of bond can you feel with Usagi, not in your head, but in your heart, in your soul."
"I…" Seiya faulters
What do I feel? What is there? Seiya wonders.
He spends a long time, just staring into space, thinking, feeling. As he stands there he starts to see it, feel it. The bond, but it's not the bond of a lover, and companion. It's not the bond of soulmates. It's the bond of friends. It's the bond to protect a monarch, and planet, but there is anger and hurt mixed in. So much anger, and hurt. There is love there, but it's the same kind of love he feels for Princess Kakyu. He slowly starts to see the soulmate bond between the king and queen in front of him. He sees the intertwined silver, and gold threads between the two, a pink thread twisted into it, leading to the pink haired child with them. He looks to present day Mamoru standing beside him, and sees the silver and gold threads entwined together disappearing to, their present, he guesses. He understands now.
"Oh god." Seiya whispers, knees shaking.
In a blink he and Mamoru are, again, standing on the pier, surrounded by the four men from before. Seiya falls to his knees.
