Chapter Twenty One
Confronting Kaguya Pt II
"It is foolish to think that you all will succeed. It is only a short time now.." Kaguya smirked, but seconds later, she gasped wincing in pain holding her hand against her head.
Koyoko looked around and noticed numerous upon numerous amounts of... people? Would that be acceptable to call them? had appeared before her. The good Kaguya stood in front of her and took her hands. "Do not be afraid. It is time." Koyoko nodded and squeezed her hands back. "The words will come to you. Just sing what your heart tells you to. We will overpower her from within." Koyoko took in a deep breath before opening her mouth, and feeling the sound come out. The other celestial beings soon joined her.
"Meiya noyeimaya soima toiya.
Ma noche lei ye.
Eime nochelaya soiya noiya
Ma yoche le yeiye...
Noche, noche sole yeie
Noche, noche sole yeie."
Koyoko started to sing by herself, and shortly after the other celestial beings joined her in her words.
Kamalie ya manka samalaie ya ma leme ie mennela.
Lamai yama kenma samali yemelaka
Kamaie ya manka samalaie ya manla sama leme ie mennela
Lamai yama kenme samali yeme.
Kamalia mi yakan na maramiya
Samalamiya malan masiei emala me
Ya salamiya kanla mamiyama seya
Kanla mamiyama se kanna malamiya
Samalamiya malan maisei emala
Lanma Salamami yakala samala mi yamala
Miya mala sammamiya lamaiya manla iyamia
Samalamiya kalamamiya
Salamamiya kalamamiya kalamami"
Koyoko gasped, as she opened her eyes. She could feel tears streaming down her face from all the emotion she was putting into singing. She was standing in the room. She could see her friends, but they couldn't see her. The other celestial beings took over singing for a short time.
"Yamma-same yame same
Yanma-same kame yame yee
It was then that she noticed InuYasha and Kagome. She couldn't hear anything they were saying. It was as though she was submerged in water, trying to listen to people talking above her.
"Yanma-same yame ame
Yanma-same kame yameyee"
Koyoko could see Kaguya wincing in pain, and could hear the other celestial beings still singing around her. It was up to her to help her friends end this. As the words came into her heart, she sang them out through her lips. This time, she sang alone. She walked towards Kaguya and stood next to her, looking at her with judgment in her eyes.
"Consoli etutte i
Yei la testa mia
Sesshomaru gracefully walked into the room, his Bakusaiga dripping blood onto the floor. Koyoko almost gasped as she saw him. She had never seen such a fierce look on his face. He spoke some words to Miroku and Sango who nodded and ran out the door where he had come from. Koyoko watched him and almost lost her composure. Her voice shook as she continued to sing.
Camine etuttei, yemi
Camine tei e detto console
La desta mia."
As the demon Kaguya noticed Sesshomaru, she pulled one of the golden pins from her hair, and in her hand, it transformed into a formidable sword. As he walked by Kagome with the internally-struggling InuYasha, he spoke a few words to them. Koyoko could tell that Kagome gasped, and stopped her focus on InuYasha for a second before nodding.
"You're not really going to waste my time, are you? This is pointless, and you know it." Kaguya shook her head, as she flew forward and her and Sesshomaru's swords clanked loudly as a bright light emerged from them, knocking Kaguya back into the wall. Sesshomaru flew forward and wrapped his hand tightly around Kaguya's neck while she was stunned. She placed her hand on his arm and grinned, seeing his eyes waiver.
"Sesshomaru, please!" Kagome cried out, with tears in her eyes.
His hand was wrapped around Kaguya's throat, holding firm, but all he saw when he looked at her was Koyoko. The girl in front of him smirked. She knew deep down he would never be able to kill her. If he killed Koyoko's body, she would be lost to the universe for good.
Behind him, InuYasha was struggling to keep from transforming into a full demon, such as himself.
"Analiya amur awai-i o..."
"I know you feel like you don't have a choice, but think about what Koyoko would want. She wouldn't want Kaguya to win, and Kaguya will never be Koyoko. You can't let InuYasha turn into a full demon. He doesn't want that and you know it. Please Sesshomaru.." InuYasha's claws dug deeper into Kagome's skin, as his fangs also grew. Kagome winced and quietly cried out as the pain set in.
Off in the distance, Miroku and Sango tirelessly fought off the barrage of demons that continued to head for them.
"Let me go, Sesshomaru and we can work together. We can be strong and destroy everything together." Kagura smirked, her eyes trying to connect with his. Soon, she would have his mind for herself just as she had InuYasha's. "I can see deep down that that is what you want. All Koyoko did was hold you back. But with me, we can rule everything together."
"Huh?" Kagome heard the words that Kaguya spoke and shook her head. "No...! I can't..." she winced as InuYasha growled, digging his claws deeper. "I can't let that happen..." A few more tears slipped out the corner of her eyes as she looked at InuYasha's eyes, which flashed from golden amber to deep, blood red, over and over as he tried to fight it off... until they just stayed red. "Inu..Yasha..." Kagome's lip trembled as she leaned forward. "Stay with me, please..." She closed her eyes and grabbed his face with her hands, kissing him gently.
"You fool..." Kaguya looked over with the best of her ability to see Kagome and InuYasha. "That won't work. He is mine."
"Was." Sesshomaru spoke emotionlessly as he held his right hand up, and it flowed a green wavy color.
Koyoko stood to the side of Sesshomaru and slightly behind him. She stared Kaguya down and looked at Sesshomaru's hand. 'He's really going to do it...'
"No! What are you d-" Kaguya's sentence was cut off short as Sesshomaru burst his hand into her chest and felt Koyoko's heart beating in his hand. His face was stoic, but he felt overcome with emotion. Kaguya felt pain overcome her, and she coughed. "If you do this, you will... never get her back..." She glared.
"Yeah well, we ain't gettin' her back with you around either!" InuYasha jumped back from Kagome, pulling out Tessaiga. The sword grew and flashed red as he swung it towards the mirror. "Kongosohaaaa!" The mirror shattered into a million pieces and fell to the floor, as Kaguya cried out. Koyoko heard the other celestial beings singing behind her, but could barely mutter any words as she felt an intense pain in her chest as everything went black.
Noche... Noche sole yeie...
"NO!"
Noche... Noche sole yeie...
"You're finished." Sesshomaru squeezed, feeling Koyoko's heart pulse in his hand one last time, as he ripped her heart out of her chest and tossed it onto the floor next to him. Kagome gasped, watching him, and fell to the floor. She knew this was what was needed to be done, but that didn't make it any less painful... she covered her mouth with her hands and clenched her eyes shut.
"Koyo...ko..." Kagome whispered, and InuYasha kneeled next to her, placing his hands on her shoulders. His forehead resting on one of her shoulders. Sango and Miroku ran over, and gasped.
Kaguya instantly turned green, as she tried to breathe. From green, to an ashy gray, she choked as blood spilled from her chest and mouth. "You will... regret... this..." Kaguya grabbed onto Sesshomaru's leg one last time as her head collapsed to the floor and all of the life drained from her eyes. Koyoko's eye color slowly changed from cerulean back to her merlot color...and then back to brown.
"K...Koyoko..." Sango whispered. The girl had lost all markings and just looked human again. Sango's eyes shot to Sesshomaru who was looking down with his eyes shut, and his right hand bloodied, and still dripping blood. Miroku grabbed Sango's hand, and was for once, silent.
Sesshomaru kneeled next to Koyoko's motionless body. It had taken more effort than he had anticipated to get her back. His heart beat rapidly in his chest.. she should be back by now. Why wasn't she back? He did everything as the monk had said.
This is exactly why he didn't trust anyone else. This is why he was always alone. Working with others always screwed up his plans.
"Sesshomaru I-" InuYasha started. He was still recovering from almost transforming but felt immense sympathy for his brother. He almost had Koyoko back.. but was she just... gone? Sesshomaru held his hand up, silently telling his brother to shut the fuck up. Sesshomaru stood and pulled out his Tenseiga.
"Sesshomaru I think she's been dead too long..." Kagome spoke gently. Sango stood beside Miroku with tears in her eyes. This just couldn't be real. Koyoko had always been kind to them. For the first time in a long time, Sango had had faith that they would destroy Naraku if they had Koyoko by their side. But... now?
"I will never forgive myself if I don't at least try." He spoke quietly. He stared at her nervously, with his usual stoic face as he held the Tenseiga above her, waiting for the demons to show. This had to work. It would bring her back to him. Too much had happened for her not to come back. Where were the demons? He drew in one final breath before he swiped through her body with the pathetic looking sword. A bright light flashed from her body that made everyone turn away and cover their faces. Kagome looked back over at Koyoko and watched intently as her skin slowly started to reattach itself, leaving an ugly scar in the middle of her chest.
"Koyoko...?" Kagome whispered. Slowly Koyoko's chest started slowly moving before she took in one giant gasp and sat up, opening her eyes. She looked around blinking, probably dazed and confused, and saw the bottom of Sesshomaru's haori. She stared at it for a second, feeling tears come to her eyes and looked up at him.
"Oh my God..." Miroku whispered.
Sesshomaru dropped the Tenseiga and as it clattered onto the ground, he bent down beside her again and touched her face.
"Tell me I am not dreaming, yet again..." Koyoko frowned. He looked worn, tired, not like his usual self. She started to tear up again because she could actually feel his touch. She placed her hand on top of his, and within seconds let go and jumped on him, hugging him. She squeezed him as tightly as she could, digging her face into his neck.
Kagome laughed and tears started streaming down her face. Sango and Miroku both smiled leaning back against each other for support.
"I'm here, Sesshomaru. It's real. I'm so so sorry. I'm so sorry." Koyoko felt him hug her back, which was rare and strange of him, but she started to cry harder as he returned the affection. Sesshomaru let out a quick sigh of relief and closed his eyes.
Finally. He thought to himself. He knew it was her this time. When he thought he had reunited with her and Kaguya was being an imposter, he didn't feel the spark and connection that he felt now..
He pulled away from the hug and looked at her, really just taking everything in.
"We're gonna be outside making sure it's clear. You two come out when you're ready." InuYasha said sheepishly as he walked past them. He was honestly shocked that she made it. He had been sure with everything that happened that she would be gone, but he was so thankful she was okay. The others walked out, and Sango squeezed Koyoko's shoulder as she walked by.
"I'm so glad you're okay." Koyoko smiled at her as she walked by and Sesshomaru helped Koyoko stand.
The two just stared at each other for a few seconds. Koyoko's heart was pounding hard in her chest. She saw how Sesshomaru had reacted to Kaguya when she first inhabited her body.
"I can... hear your heart beating in your chest..." He told her quietly. It was something he never thought he had ever taken for granted, but he now knew that he did.
"You should feel it. It feels like it's going to burst out of my chest." She sighed and shifted where she was standing. "I... I don't know what to say... I can't believe I put all of you through that."
"I warned you for a reason, Koyoko. There is a reason why I trust no one. Even your 'friends.'" Koyoko winced and looked down at the ground, feeling shameful.
"I.. saw you. With Kaguya. How did you know she wasn't me..?" She looked back up into his intense, beautiful golden eyes.
Sesshomaru was quiet for a time. Perhaps trying to figure it out himself? Or maybe he didn't know how to word what he wanted to say. Kaguya had asked him the same question, but he didn't give her an answer. He walked over to her and placed his hands on her face. "Do you feel that?"
She knew what he meant. Every time he touched her, there was a small jolt. It went straight into her heart and gave her flutters in her stomach she didn't truly understand. "When Kaguya touched me, I did not feel that. When she looked into my eyes, there was nothing inside... as opposed to when I look into your eyes." He rubbed her cheek and she felt tears coming to her eyes again.
Koyoko still couldn't believe this was real. She had her Sesshomaru back. After everything, he had fought so hard for her. "When I look into your eyes.. I can't even describe what I see." Koyoko winced as he moved her hair to the side where the mark used to be. "Were you awake when this happened?" His voice went from full of emotion to ice cold. Koyoko nodded.
"Yes..." Sesshomaru softly traced the scarred skin with his thumb. "It all went dark during it so I don't even really know what happened. I tried so hard to reach you and shut him out..."
"You did reach me. I watched what happened from your eyes." Koyoko could see his eyes turning red. Even without the connection, she could feel his anger... but was sad that she couldn't share in it. Kaguya and Naraku had broken their bond together. She could feel that things weren't the same as they had been before she left. There was an awkwardness in the air. He was hurt. She was hurt. Both for different reasons, but both also needed to heal in their own way.
"Sesshomaru, I-" He didn't want to waste anymore time. He had waited for more than long enough. He kissed her deeply and backed her up against the wall. She sighed into the kiss, kissing him back just as strongly. Too soon for either of them, Sesshomaru pulled away.
"We will make all of the things that they wronged, right. I told you that night, that once we mated, you were mine forever. I will never allow Naraku, or anyone to take you from me again." He pressed his forehead against hers, staring into her eyes. "Let us join the others. I'm sure they're waiting." Koyoko nodded, silently. She was still in Kaguya's outfit and couldn't wait to change.
After a short enchantment, she had gotten them back into their own world. The others were mystified by the new power she had gained from this whole encounter. They decided to rest at the small village that everything had happened in, much to Koyoko and Sesshomaru's dismay. They both knew, however, that everyone needed a night of rest at the very least.
Koyoko was also very interested in finding the villager who had betrayed her.
It was their first night back together and alone. Would Sesshomaru attempt to fix their mating bond? She was nervous. How would she handle it after what Naraku had done? Was he still too mad at her to even touch her that way? Koyoko stared at herself in the mirror, staring at the scar where her marking had previously been and stroked it in a fashion similar to what Sesshomaru had done. She so desperately wanted that connection back with him. It had been unlike anything she had ever felt before.
She gulped quietly as she heard him come in the room, but she knew he heard it. "Umm, Sesshomaru? Can you help me take this off? I can't seem to find the buttons anywhere, and it's really tight." She reached behind her, searching for the buttons. "I don't know how she breathed in this thing."
He didn't say anything as he swiftly appeared behind her. He ran his hand up her naked back, to which she closed her eyes letting out a shaken breath. "I do not see anything to undo the dress..." He held up a claw and swiftly sliced through the fabric all the way down to her hips. Koyoko caught the fabric to keep it from falling off her front.
"T-thank you.." She whispered, still facing away from him. He took off his haori and placed it on her shoulders. It was a nice silky material and she dropped the dress, letting it fall to the floor.
Luckily, since he was so much taller than her, his haori covered much of her, so she slid her arms in and closed it. Sesshomaru's eyes very slowly scanned her body. Seeing her in his clothes just made him... he didn't even know the words to describe.
"We have a few things to attend to that we didn't get to take care of before you left." He cleared just throat and moved away from her. She turned to face him and tilted her head.
"Such as...?"
"While you were gone, I had some work done on my land. My bedroom has been demolished, and I am having a new one built. I also have servants there now, working to make it livable."
Koyoko was shocked, she stared at him with her mouth wide open. "I... don't know what to say. Ummm.. is that all?"
"I need to take you to meet my mother." He said quietly, still looking away from her. Was he nervous about that or something? Koyoko could only imagine how intense she was if this was her son. "I am not sure how that meeting will go, so I just wanted you to be prepared." Koyoko took a second and walked to go stand in front of him. He was once again looking out the window, and she reached up to touch his face.
"I can't wait to meet her. I'm honored you want to take me there, Sesshomaru." Koyoko softly smiled as his eyes slowly trailed down to look at her.
"We also need to find the demon monk who can fix this." He pulled her hand off his face and traced the area where his mark used to be. "What Naraku did to you-" The hand she was holding tightened its grip. She could tell he was trying not to lose his temper. "was not in any way your fault." She nodded and looked down for a second.
"I miss having you in my head. It feels all empty up there now." Koyoko softly giggled and he gave her a small smirk.
"I would believe it." Seeing the look on his face made her heart leap a bit in her chest.
"A demon monk, though? Do those even exist?" Sesshomaru shrugged.
"I was researching to see what we could do to fix this.. predicament. That seems that it may be our only option." Koyoko's mind spun at the thought of what they would have to go through to fix this... but this was all for another day. Without another thought, she smirked to herself and leaped onto him, knocking him back onto the bed. She held onto him tightly, and just listened to his heart. Even that was beating calmly. She let out a short sigh and stared at the wall, just taking in his presence.
"I will do whatever I have to, to fix it... I can't imagine going through this life without you..." Koyko felt Sesshomaru's grip on her tighten for a second. Sesshomaru was staring at the ceiling above him, feeling the cool silk of the bedsheets against his skin. "especially after everything that happened.."
Sesshomaru sat up, and surprisingly to Koyoko laid her back softly on the bed. He opened the haori so she laid bare underneath him. He slowly ran a clawed hand down her skin and noticed her looking away, looking pained. "Is this okay with you...?" He asked quietly and saw tears starting to form at the corners of her eyes. "If you want me to stop-"
"No." Koyoko cut him off, and Sesshomaru's hand trailed back up to rest on her breast as he gave it a squeeze and she looked at him. "Make me forget... please.." He hated the pained look in her eyes. There was nothing he could have done, and that was the most painful part. But he had a duty to her now, to help her forget as she had requested. His hand softly slid up her skin to cup her face as he softly kissed her. He so badly wanted to ravage her, over and over. Unfortunately, he knew that would just push her away further from him.
Koyoko let out a few tears as he kissed her and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling his chest against her own. Sesshomaru pulled his haori off of her the rest of the way and flung it to the side, as he sat her up against him. He lifted her off of the bed, and slowly slid her down onto him. Koyoko softly groaned as she moved her hips against him.
As Koyoko became more comfortable with him, Sesshomaru took it a step further, and they continued to make love into the night.
Unbeknownst to them, a familiar pair of eyes watched them from a window. Usually, Sesshomaru would have noticed, but right at this moment, he was too consumed with his woman.
I want to thank you all for reading! I know the second part took forever to get posted, and I'm so sorry about that! I hope everyone out there is staying healthy and safe!
I really hope I didn't make Sesshomaru too OOC for y'all, but Sesshomaru tends to have a soft spot for certain people *cough* Rin *cough* and I figured after he witnessed Koyo go through something traumatic, he would be cautious with her too, ya know.
I'm curious who you guys think may be watching them from a distance? I really hope y'all enjoyed this chapter! I enjoyed writing it.
Don't forget to leave a review if you can!
