Dan walks into the living room where Savannah is sitting on the couch, and he could only think about how small she looks. She is dressed in Lucas' over-sized Keith Scott's Body Shop sweatshirt and basketball shorts. She's small for her age, but sitting right there on his couch for some reason she just looked too small for his liking.
Dan places a glass of water on the table in front of her as he sits down in the chair in front of her. Savannah just stares at the water. "What happened tonight, Savannah?" He asks, softly.
"I needed to feel safe." Savannah tells him, unable to look him the eyes.
Dan appears surprised by this, but he tries not to show it. "So, you came here." Savannah nods. "What happened before I found you earlier, after your bike accident?" He wonders.
Savannah looks up at him, scowling. "I told you. I fell off my bike. That's it."
Dan takes a sip of his drink, shrugging. "So you say. But that bruise on your forehead tells a different story." Savannah gives him a bewildered look. "You fell on the right side of your body when you flipped off your bike. Your bruise is on the left side." Savannah gently touches her head, shocked that he figured that out. "Did someone hurt you, Savannah?" Tears quickly develop in the girl's eyes, giving Dan his answer. "Who hurt you?"
But before Savannah can say anything, she jumps as the sound of banging coming from the front door. "Savannah!" They hear Lucas shout.
Savannah's eyes widen and she looks at Dan. "You called my dad?"
Dan stands up, putting his glass down, as he walks to the door. "He needed to know that you were safe, Savannah." She watches as Dan opens the front door. "Lucas."
Lucas glares furiously at Dan as he walks in and walks over to his daughter. "Savannah, let's go." He says, sternly.
"Dad, I - I - " She stammers.
"Now, Savannah!" Savannah quickly stands up and walks out of the beach house with Lucas following her. "Don't come near her again!" He shouts at Dan before slamming the door closed.
On their way back to Brooke's, Savannah is sitting quietly in the front seat as Lucas keeps glancing at her in disbelief.
"I mean, what were you thinking going over there, Savannah?" He practically shouts at her. "You could have gone anywhere, but you chose to go to Dan's house! You know how I feel about him, Savannah! Please explain to me what possessed you to sneak out of your mom's house who, by the way, is freaking out, and walk this late at night to that man's house!?" Savannah is silent. A tear falls down her cheek as she stares out the window. "Answer me, Savannah!"
"I don't know!" Savannah yells, surprising Lucas. "I don't know, okay!? I wanted to feel safe!"
Lucas scoffs. "You wanted to feel safe with a murderer?!"
Savannah sobs loudly as she drops her head into her hands, crying loudly. "I don't know." She hiccups. "I don't know."
Lucas was still angry, but seeing his daughter suddenly break down like this, all his anger that he was showing soon disappeared and turned to worry instead. Lucas pulls over on the side of the road before turning fully to his inconsolable daughter. "Savannah." He tries to reach over and rub her back, but as soon as Savannah feels his touch she jumps slightly, causing him to retreat back. Savannah felt terrible because the safest place she's always felt was in her parents' arms and now she couldn't even handle his simple touch of comfort. "Savannah." Lucas repeats, trying his best to hold back his own tears, but he was failing miserably. He had never seen his daughter like this before. It was heartbreaking to watch. Brooke had told him that she hurt herself pretty badly from falling off her bike. But why did it feel like there was more to it than that? "Please talk to me, pretty girl."
Savannah takes a deep breath and turns away from her father's watchful eyes. She brings her legs up to her chest and leans back on the seat, looking out the window. "I just want to go home." She whispers.
Lucas nods, sighing. "Okay." He had no choice by to oblige. Obviously the last thing Savannah wanted to do right now was speak to him. So, Lucas starts the car again and they drive back to Brooke's.
When he pulls up into the driveway, Brooke runs out of the house. It's obvious she had been crying due the stress and worry of not finding her daughter in her room where she thought she had been. She blamed herself for not listening more closely. Maybe she could have stopped Savannah from leaving. But, then again, Brooke didn't know that was something she should have been listening for. Savannah seemed fine the last time she had spoke with her. Sure, she was pretty beat up from her fall on her bike, but she seemed okay. But when Brooke received the call from Lucas that Savannah was at Dan Scott's house, it was obvious there was more her daughter wasn't telling her.
Lucas steps out the car and walks to the passenger seat. He opens the door and picks up his sleeping daughter into his arms. "She fell asleep on the way here." He whispers to Brooke.
With continuous tears, Brooke looks down at her daughter's bruised and scraped face, rubbing her hand through her girl's dark brown locks. "What happened, Lucas?" She asks, desperately.
Lucas shrugs. "She said she wanted to feel safe."
Brooke furrows her brows, confused. "What does that mean?"
"I'm not sure." Lucas frowns. "Let's get her in bed."
Brooke leads Lucas inside but instead of Savannah's room, she brings him into her bedroom where Angie is sleeping in her crib. "At least I'll know where she is if she sleeps in here." Lucas nods, agreeing, and lays Savannah on the bed, allowing Brooke to pull the covers up. She places a gentle kiss on her daughter's forehead before she and Lucas step out of the room, closing the door just slightly. "What else did she tell you?"
Lucas sighs heavily, running his hand over his face in frustration. "Nothing, Brooke. She refused to talk to me. She just broke down. She wouldn't even let me touch her, Brooke." Brooke could hear the sadness in his voice.
"We'll figure it out." Brooke promises. "Maybe something at Willow's house when she was there finishing her report. Maybe they got into an argument or something."
"Yeah. Maybe."
"You should go home, Luke. I'll watch over her tonight and we can both talk to her tomorrow."
Lucas nods. "Yeah. Okay."
"Thanks for bringing her home, Lucas." Brooke says, sincerely. Lucas hugs Brooke before he walks out of the house.
"What were you two thinking!?" Nathan asks, furiously, as he and Haley stand in front of Jamie and Lydia. He had just got back from the beach house and wasn't too shocked to find his kids there. He figured sooner or later they were going to find a way to talk to Dan and, apparently, tonight was the night. Jamie and Lydia go to speak. "That's right! You weren't thinking at all! Your mom and I specifically told you two to stay away from Dan."
"He wouldn't hurt us!" Lydia exclaims.
"Young lady, you're on thin ice as it is already." Nathan warns her, narrowing his eyes at his daughter. "I have a feeling this was all your idea anyway." Lydia rolls her eyes, exhaling.
"Nathan." Haley says, calmly. She had never seen Nathan so worked up with the kids before. But when it involves Dan apparently everything changes. "Please." She crosses her arms and looks down at her kids. "Why? Why did you think it was a good idea to go to the beach house?"
"We just want to know him." Jamie explains. "You obviously had the bad version of Grandpa before he went to prison, but he seems like he has changed. He's dying and we should know him before he dies."
Haley furrows her brows. "How did you know about that?"
Jamie looks at his sister since she's the one who told him. Lydia sighs. "I heard you and Aunt Peyton talking the other day at Tric. Then, you confirmed it when Uncle Lucas came over the next day."
Nathan and Haley share a look. "Jamie, Lydia, you may want to know Dan, but he doesn't deserve to know you. Not after everything he's done. He deserves nothing."
"That's not fair!" Jamie exclaims, standing up. "You get so worked up about how important family is, but that's not true at all!"
"Jamie!" Nathan says, firmly.
"No! Dad, no! Grandpa Dan is family. And if he is going to die, then we should know him and he should know us. No one should die alone." Jamie storms off, ignoring his parents orders to stop.
They turn back to Lydia. "He's right, you know."
Nathan shakes his head, refusing to give in. "Two weeks. Your both grounded. Pass that along to your brother."
"We'll talk more in the morning." Haley tells her. "Get to bed. It's late." Lydia sighs heavily and runs to the stairs as her parents look at one another, both furious and concerned. "What are we going to do, Nathan?"
"I don't know, Hales. But I do know Dan Scott deserves nothing."
Eight Hours Later -
Brooke's phone is ringing while Peyton is sleeping. The machine picks up and wakes up Peyton in the process.
'Hi. I'm calling from Dr. Copeland's office for Brooke Davis. Brooke, it's urgent that you call us - " Peyton leaps up from bed and grabs the phone, answering it. "Hello? Uh-huh. Yeah, no, sure, just - Brooke!" Peyton shouts. "It's Angie's surgery!" She jumps out of bed, leaving Lucas' book behind that she read last night.
At the hospital, the elevator doors open and Brooke, who is holding Angie in her arms, Peyton, and a very exhausted looking Savannah step out.
"Okay, tell me again why Angie's surgery is so last minute." Peyton says, trying to understand.
"Cause it's all done on a volunteer basis." Brooke explains. "The surgeons donate their services, so it depends on when they have an opening and the right medical team and everything. I just didn't think it was gonna be today."
"Well, what can I do?"
Brooke looks down at her own daughter, who looked like a walking zombie. Unfortunately, Savannah was asleep when she got home last night, and this morning just came as a big surprise. So, she had to force Savannah up and they had to rush out the house before Brooke had any time to even consider talking to Savannah about her incident. "I'm going to be a mess today so, if you don't mind, can you just keep an eye out on Savannah."
Peyton nods, looking at the girl who is standing a little ways away from them, looking around the busy hospital. "Of course."
"And would you mind calling Lucas for me? He's just gotten so attached to Angie and I think he's gonna want to know."
"Yeah, sure."
"Savannah?" Brooke walks over to her daughter, looking at her carefully. She gently touches the bruise on Savannah's forehead, causing her to flinch. "Baby, I know we haven't been able to talk because this just came on so sudden." She says, looking at Angie. "But things are gonna be a little crazy today, okay, so I want you to stick with Aunt Peyton for me. Can you do that?"
"Sure." Savannah says barely above a whisper.
Brooke sighs. Why today of all days? Clearly Savannah needs her, but another little special girl needs her, too. So, Brooke vowed to herself that once Angie is in the clear, she, Lucas, and Savannah are going to have a long talk, just the three of them. Brooke smiles softly and kisses Savannah on her head. "Come on, kid." Peyton holds out her hand to Savannah, who hesitates to take it. This doesn't go unnoticed by the two women, unfortunately. Savannah slowly slides her hand into Peyton's and allows her to walk them down the hall.
"Hey, coach." Lucas calls out as he walks into Skills' bedroom.
Skills, who is on his laptop, closes it and smiles at his friend. Lucas hands him one of the cups of coffees he is holding. "Thanks for the coffee. What's up, man?"
Lucas sits down across from him. "Uh, you know, I was thinking maybe we could go over tonight's game plan one more time."
"Luke, it's gonna work, bro. And, if it don't, they'll just fire the head coach and hire me, right?" Skills jokes. "Win-win." Lucas chuckles, sitting back in the chair. "So, what else is bothering you? You talk to Savannah yet about her visit to Dan's yet?"
Lucas sighs heavily, still frustrated with everything. "Not yet. I'm trying to give her some space before Brooke and I talk to her."
"She'll come around." Skills assures him. "But I can see it's not just mini-Scott that's bothering you."
"It's nothing." Lucas shrugs. "I just haven't heard from Lindsey in a while, you know, maybe a week, and I - I mean, it's one thing for her to give me the key back but, I mean, she's still editing my book. I think she's ducking me."
"Nah, she ain't ducking you, bro. She's probably just busy."
"Yeah. Maybe. I just wish she'd call, you know?"
"It'll be okay, man. But, until then, you know what heals a broken heart more than anything?"
"Hmm?"
"Bacon." Skills smirks, sniffing the air. "Smell that?" Lucas looks towards the door, perplexed. "Thank God for Millicent. Come on, man."
Lydia is standing by Jamie's locker when he closes it. She is looking at Savannah's closed locker.
"Savannah wasn't in first period." Lydia frowns. "We are reading our reports today in history. Why isn't she here?"
Jamie shrugs as they walk down the hall to class. "Maybe she overslept and Aunt Brooke is letting her stay home."
Lydia scowls. "No way. Savannah has been working so hard on this report for months. She wouldn't just not come because she overslept."
"I think you're overthinking this, Lyd. If it was serious she would have told us something, or Aunt Brooke would have told Mom."
"We haven't talked in two days, Jamie." Lydia argues. "When does that ever happen?"
Jamie grins. "Maybe she finally got tired of you."
Lydia pushes Jamie, rolling her eyes. Willow then runs up to them in a slight panic. "Hey. Have you guys seen Savannah?"
Lydia and Jamie share a look before they both scowl at the girl. "Seriously? Your her partner in history and you haven't spoken with her?" Lydia asks. "What did you do to her?"
"I didn't do anything to her, Scott." Willow glares. "But she hasn't answered any of my calls in a couple of days. I've been trying to get in touch with her ever since she left my house the other day."
"Savannah went to your house?" Jamie questions, surprised.
Willow sighs. "Yeah. She was missing one of my papers. But she left without it and we have to do our report today in class and she isn't here. She has the full report!"
"That doesn't make any sense." Lydia says, confused. "Why would she go to your house and then leave without the paper?" Willow's face drops with guilt. "What did you do to her?" Lydia exclaims.
"I didn't do anything to her!"
"Really? Because your face is saying something else. Savannah has been working hard on that paper all month. She's been obsessed. Now you're telling me she went to your house to get the rest of the report, left without it, and you haven't heard from her since then? Something must have happened."
"Look, I don't know what happened!" Willow exclaims. "She just ran out of my room and ignored me when I tried to call her back. And, now, she isn't here which means we are going to fail this presentation." Willow storms off leaving the Scott kids completely confused.
Brooke is pacing the waiting room with Angie in her arms when Dr. Copeland walks up to her.
"Brooke."
"Hi. Big day, huh?" She forces a nervous smile at the doctor.
But Dr. Copeland could see that she was stressing out. "How you holding up?"
"I'm nervous." Brooke admits. "Please tell me you're not, you're not nervous."
"She's gonna do great, okay?" He says, giving her an encouraging smile. "So are you."
A nurse walks up. "Dr. Copeland, we're all set."
"Okay, this is gonna take a little while but as soon as I'm done, I will come out and let you know, okay?"
Brooke nods. "Okay."
"Nurse Lee is gonna take Angie now."
"Okay." Brooke turns Angie in her arms so that she can look at her. "Hey. Hey, sweet girl. The nice nurse is gonna take you for your surgery now, okay? But nothing is gonna happen to you. I promise, okay? They're just gonna take you and make you better. Yeah." Brooke cries softly. "You're gonna be all better, okay?" She passes Angie over to the nurse who walks away down the hall to prep Angie for her surgery. "Dr. Copeland." Brooke calls out before the doctor can follow. "What's your name? Your first name?"
Dr. Copeland smiles, kindly, at her. "Just try to relax, Brooke, okay? She's in good hands." He assures her.
Brooke watches on in tears and fear as Dr. Copeland walks away and the doors close behind him.
Later, Brooke is still in the waiting room pacing and stressing out, but this time she doesn't have a baby in her arms while she is doing it. She looks over at Peyton who is sitting next to Savannah who has been quiet since the moment they got there.
"How long has it been?" Brooke asks.
"About an hour." Peyton tells her.
"You said that last time I asked."
"I know, honey. You asked like thirty seconds ago."
Brooke pouts as she sits down on the other side of Savannah. "Sorry."
"It's okay." Peyton assures her. "Hey, I know you're nervous. She's gonna be fine."
Brooke nods. "Yeah." She whispers. She turns to Savannah who is sitting quietly, her legs close to her chest, as she looks around the hospital. "Hey." Brooke touches Savannah's hand, taken aback when she feels her daughter flinch from her touch. Savannah turns to Brooke, who looks worried, not only for Angie, but for her as well. "Are you okay? I know we rushed you out of the house, but - "
"I'm fine." Savannah assures her.
Brooke and Peyton share a look over Savannah's head, knowing that's not true. "Are you hungry? We can go - "
Savannah shakes her head, interrupting Peyton. "I'm not hungry."
"Well, I spoke with your history teacher and explained everything. She said you can do you presentation when you return, but to not worry about it." Brooke tells her.
Savannah closes her eyes. She had completely forgot about her report. "I didn't finish." She whispers.
Brooke furrows her brows, not hearing her. "What was that?"
"I didn't finish my report." Savannah says a little louder.
Brooke looks confused, though. She was supposed to work on it yesterday. "Wait. I thought you finished it yesterday."
"Um. No. I - "
"Lucas." Peyton says, unexpectedly.
Savannah and Brooke turn to her. "What?"
"Lucas." Peyton nods her head towards the hallway where Lucas is coming towards them.
Peyton and Brooke stand up as Lucas approaches. "Brooke, I'm so sorry. I left my cell phone at home. How's she doing?"
"I don't know. They said it was gonna take a while. And that they'd let me know as soon as she was out of surgery." Brooke tells him.
"Okay, well, then - " Lucas glances at Peyton. " - I'll just wait here with you if that's okay."
"Yeah, thanks. I'd like that considering Peyton has to go."
But Peyton was ready to refuse. "Brooke, I - "
"P. Sawyer, I love you. But I know your day's insane and I will feel better if at least one of us is getting something done besides waiting, so - Please? For me?"
"Alright." Peyton gives in. "You call me first thing, okay?"
"I will." Brooke hugs Peyton. "Thank you."
Peyton grabs her things and looks at Lucas who diverts his eyes elsewhere. "Bye, Peyton." He says.
Peyton smiles softly. "Bye, Luke."
But before Peyton can walk away, she feels a couple of hands grabbing her free one. "Wait." Peyton turns and sees Savannah looking up at her. "Can I go with you?"
Peyton looks at Brooke and Lucas, unsure. "Baby, Aunt Peyton has a busy day. She does - "
"It's fine." Peyton could see that Savannah was desperate to get out of there and she couldn't blame her. "I mean, if it's okay with you both, I don't mind having her with me."
Brooke shares a look with Lucas before they look back at Savannah. It would be the perfect time since they are all together to talk, but they could see that's the last thing their daughter wanted right now. "Um, it's fine with me." Brooke says.
"Come on." Peyton squeezes Savannah's hand.
"Bye, pretty girl." Lucas goes to kiss Savannah on her head, but she moves away from his touch and closer to Peyton. Lucas frowns, clearly disappointed that Savannah is still refusing his comfort.
"Bye." Savannah whispers before following Peyton down the hall.
Lucas and Brooke watch with concern in their eyes. "You saw that, right?"
Brooke sighs. "I saw it."
Lucas lets out his own heavy sigh as he places a comforting hand onto Brooke's back before they both sit down to continue waiting for Angie's surgery to finish.
Inside another room of the hospital, a nurse walks in where Dr. Thorton is speaking with Dan, who is sitting on top of the exam table buttoning his shirt.
"Over the next couple of months you're going to feel a bit sluggish." The doctor informs him. "It's important not to push it. There is some good news, though - "
"What? I've got seven months to live instead of six?" Dan asks, sarcastically.
Dr. Thorton chuckles. "Because of your physical size and blood type, you're number two on the donor recipient list for a compatible heart." He grabs a pager from the counter, handing it to Dan. "Carry this with you twenty-four hours a day. If a heart becomes available, we'll have about six hours to place it."
"Number two, huh?" Dan asks as he looks at the pager. "What's it gonna cost for me to get to number one?"
"Well, I'm pretty certain Reverend Carter isn't willing to barter with his life. He's in pretty bad shape. Good man, too."
"Good man?" Dan questions, taking offense. "What's that supposed to mean? 'Good man?'"
"We're not allowed to discriminate when it comes to saving lives, Dan." Dr. Thorton tells him. "If the heart fits, my job is to place it into whoever needs it."
"Oh, I see. It doesn't matter if they're miracle workers or murderers."
Inside the studio at Tric, Haley places a picture of Nathan and the kids on her piano just as Peyton and Savannah walk in.
"Hey, sorry." Peyton apologizes.
"It's okay. How's Brooke?" Haley asks. Savannah then comes into Haley's few causing her aunt to gasps. "And how are you?" Haley steps up to Savannah, examining her face. "That must have been some bike accident."
Savannah shrugs. "Yeah. Maybe one day they'll fix the roads." She says, somberly. They watch as Savannah turns around and walks to Peyton's desk and puts her earphones in her ears.
"Is she okay?" Haley scowls.
Peyton sighs. "I don't know." She says, honestly. "Something is up. She didn't even want to stay with Brooke and Lucas at the hospital. But I'm going to try and talk to her after we are finished." She smiles.
"Maybe I just don't like Peyton." Both women look confused at the voice and turn to find Mia in the control room. "Oh, damn. Was that talk-back on again?" Peyton and Haley scoff, clearly amused and surprised to see the young musician there.
Over at the Scott's, Emma is walking through the kitchen and glances towards the trash. She frowns when she finds her thank you card that she made for Dan in the trash. She picks it up and stares sadly down at it, realizing that her mom lied to her and never intended on giving it to her grandpa.
Mia walks into the studio. "This is so great, you guys." She says, looking around the newly built studio. "Look at you go, Peyton." Mia hugs Haley then Peyton.
"Me?" Peyton questions. "Look at you go. You sold nearly 100,000 copies, dude."
"Well, hey, man, that's you and Haley and that creepy label guy from L.A. that you have some sort of weird sexual tension with."
"Ew." Peyton grimaces. "No, I don't."
"You kind of do."
"What about you, rock star? You got any flings we can scold you about while secretly wanting to hear more?" Haley smirks.
Mia rolls her eyes, amused. "No. You know how it is, Haley. It's a different city every night and press in the morning. I can't even imagine having a date, let alone an actual relationship."
"Uh, well, you have plenty of time for boys." Peyton assures her. "You are, what, like eighteen? Oh, speaking of, do you want to do a PSA for 'Rock the Vote?'"
"Hell, yes!" Mia exclaims, excitedly. "That's so cool!"
"Alright, cool. We'll set it up. You coming, Haley?"
"Yeah, I'll be right there." Haley tells her.
"Okay."
As Peyton and Mia walk out of the studio, Haley stays behind and looks at the picture of her family with worry in her eyes. She was still feeling guilty about the whole Dan situation, and just hoped that one day her kids would forgive her.
Meanwhile at school, Jamie, Lydia, and their friends walks into their history class. It was the big day where half the class is going to present their report that they've researched the entire month about War World II. Jamie and Lydia look at Savannah's empty desk.
Willow walks up to Miss. Lauren who is sitting at her desk. "Uh. Miss. Lauren?"
Miss. Lauren looks up and smiles at Willow. "Yes, Willow, what is it?"
"Um. I know today is supposed to be the day that Savannah and I present our reports, but it seems Savannah isn't here today, and she actually has our report. So - "
"Oh, don't worry, Willow." Miss. Lauren interrupts, assuring the girl. "Savannah's mother called this morning and explained that Savannah wouldn't be in today. I have you and Savannah down for Wednesday. How is that?"
Willow nods with a slight, relieved smile. "Oh, okay. Great." She starts to walk back to her desk but her curiosity gets the best of her. "Um, Miss. Lauren?" She asks, turning back around. "Can I ask if Savannah is okay?"
"Oh, sure." Miss. Lauren smiles. "Savannah had a little accident. She's pretty banged up, but her mom assured me she will be feeling better in no time."
"Oh." Willow scowls. "Okay." She turns around and walks back to her desk. She turns in her seat and looks at Jamie and Lydia. "Hey, Scotts."
Lydia and Jamie roll their eyes. "What?" Jamie asks.
"What do you guys know about Savannah being in an accident? Miss. Lauren just told me her mom called her this morning."
Lydia's eyes widen. "What? An accident?"
Willow shrugs. "She said Savannah is okay and will be back in a couple of days. I figured you two would know about it."
Jamie and Lydia share a look. "We don't know anything." Jamie says, concerned.
Back at the Scott's, Deb is in her bedroom and on her laptop. There's a webcam set on top of the screen but, unfortunately, it's not framed on her face.
"Oh, you naughty man." She chuckles as she chats with a stranger online. Deb slowly unzips her jacket and opens her bra.
"Hey, Mom, have you seen Em - " Nathan walks in just in time. "Oh!" Nathan jumps back, disgusted. "Damn it, Mom!" He runs out.
Deb sighs, putting her bra back on. "Doesn't anyone knock around here?"
"Geez, Mom, what if the kids had walked in?" Nathan begins lecturing Deb who is sitting in front of of him in the kitchen as he paces, trying to get the image of his mom flashing some guy through the computer.
"I thought the door was locked." Deb shrugs. "Besides, you said you were going for a run."
"I did. I came back." He says, frustrated. "But that's not the point, Mom! What were you doing?"
"I met someone online."
Nathan grimaces. "Ugh. Who?"
"I don't know exactly. We've never seen each other. Oh, well, he's seen parts of me, but - " Deb chuckles.
"Stop." Nathan didn't need to hear anymore. "Mom, you're chatting with some stranger on the internet."
"He's very romantic. He's sensual." Nathan just shakes his head, having no words. "We're arranging to meet soon."
"Come on, Mom. This is just weird."
"What is so weird about it?" Deb asks.
"You don't think it's weird that you're hiding in my spare bedroom flashing some webcam?"
"I wasn't hiding. Besides, all those times you locked yourself in the bathroom when you were twelve?" Deb remembers.
"Okay, stop." Nathan warns.
"I knew what you were doing. I mean, Jamie is twelve and he does take really long showers." She points out.
"Mom!"
Deb furrows her brows, looking around the room. "Where is Emma, anyway?" She wonders.
"I don't know. I guess I lost track of her when you blinded me." Nathan shutters as he walks out of the kitchen. "Ugh. Emma!"
Meanwhile, Emma is walking down the street alone when Haley pulls up on the side of her.
"Emma." But Emma refuses to respond. She just narrows her eyes at Haley and keeps walking. "Emma Quinn Scott, what are you doing out on the street alone?" Emma stops walking and holds up the thank you card for Dan that Haley threw away. Haley's face falls with guilt as she looks at the card and her daughter's betrayed face. "Come on, get in."
Emma contemplates for a moment before she opens the back door and gets inside.
"I never told her I love her." Brooke states, sadly, as she and Lucas are sitting in the waiting room. "I just... I never said it."
Lucas sighs. "Look, I'm sure when Angie's in your arms, she knows it." Brooke simply nods, hoping so. "So, um, what's going on with you and Owen?" He wonders, wanting to take Brooke's mind away from worrying about Angie for a moment.
Brooke shrugs. "Nothing, apparently. What's going on with you and Lindsey?"
"Nothing, apparently."
Brooke scoffs. "What's going on with our daughter, Luke?"
Lucas shakes his head. "I don't know, Brooke. I just feel like she's hiding something, right? I mean, why would she go to Dan's beach house, of all places, if she wasn't hiding something?"
Brooke sighs. "I don't know." She didn't quite understand it either. "You know, maybe growing my family isn't such a great idea after all. Savannah has been kind of distant since Angie came to live with us."
"I don't know about that. Savannah loves Angie. She's told me herself."
"Then what else could it be, Luke? She used to tell me everything and, now, she barely wants to stay in the same room as me." Brooke says in frustration.
"Well, she won't even let me touch her. What is that about?"
"She seems scared." Brooke realizes. "I just don't know about what."
"So she goes to Dan to feel safe? It doesn't make sense."
"Agreed. But we'll talk to her. And, you never know, Peyton may be able to get something out her while she's with her." Lucas nods. not very comfortable with talking about Peyton. "Hey. You should get out of here. You've got that game tonight."
Lucas looks at the clock on the wall. "I'm okay for a little while longer."
Brooke nods, smiling appreciatively. "Okay."
"I'll go get us some coffees." Lucas stands up and starts to walk away.
"She'll be in touch." Brooke suddenly tells him. He turns back around, perplexed. "Lindsey. I wouldn't read too much into it."
"Yeah." Lucas shrugs. "I'm okay for a little while longer." He grins as he turns and walks way.
At a playground, Haley and Emma are laying on their backs on a roundabout as it slowly spins around.
"I'm sorry that I didn't mail your card to your grandfather." Haley apologizes. "I was just trying to protect you, baby." Haley sighs heavily. "You might be mad at me for that or you might not understand it, but Dan is a bad person. I'm sorry, Princess."
"I just wanted him to know that he still had a friend." Emma says, sadly. "Everyone should have a friend." Emma points up to a cloud in the sky. "That big cloud looks like a sheep dog."
Haley chuckles. "I kind of think it looks like cotton candy."
Emma's smile then fades. "You shouldn't lie to me, Mommy."
"I know." Haley sighs. "I'm sorry. You're right. I promise I will try to explain things better from now on, okay?"
"Okay."
Haley reaches her hands back and runs her fingers through her daughter's hair. "Oh, I love you, baby girl."
"I know. I love you, too."
After finishing Mia's campaign video, Peyton walks into her office and finds Savannah sitting on the couch listening to music from her earphones while she is writing in a notebook. She smiles softly, knowing this may be the only time she may be able to talk with Savannah about what's going on.
So, Peyton walks over and carefully nudges Savannah's leg as she sits down in front of her. Savannah takes her earphones out and sets her pen down on the notebook and looks at Peyton. Peyton could see the sad look she had seen so many times in her best friend's eyes. "Hey, buddy. What you writing?"
Savannah shrugs. "Just some thoughts."
Peyton nods, raising her brow, intrigued. "Any thoughts you'd like to say aloud?"
Savannah shrugs, shaking her head. "Not really."
"What? Nothing." She shakes Savannah's leg. "Come on, kid. There has to be something in that brilliant mind of yours that is just itching to come out."
"I'm not sure what you want me to say, Aunt Peyton."
"Well, I'm just a little surprised that you wanted to come with me today instead of staying with your mom. I mean, this is a big day for Angie. I figured you'd want to be there when she came out of surgery."
Savannah shrugs. "I'll see her when she comes out. Mom didn't me there. She has Dad."
"Are you feeling okay, Sav?" Peyton wonders, curiously. "That's a lot of damage from falling off a bike. You must be feeling really sore."
"A little bit, yeah. It hurt pretty bad."
"Yeah. I can only imagine. Why didn't you tell any of us after it happened? We could have helped you."
Savannah looks down at her notebook thinking about Dan. "I didn't need help. I already had it."
Peyton furrows her brows. "By who?"
Savannah looks at Peyton, unsure if she should say or not. She didn't want to risk upsetting someone else. "You'll just get mad like everyone else."
Peyton frowns. "I promise I won't." Savannah looks away, unsure. "Oh, come on, Sav. We used to make promises all the time, remember? Your mom would get so mad because we wouldn't let her in on our secrets."
Savannah grins at the memories of their past time together. "You would take me out of school early sometimes and we'd go get milkshakes."
Peyton laughs. "Yeah. Then she'd get so mad because you wouldn't eat your dinner. So, she'd bribe you by buying you things just so you'll take a couple of bites of your food."
Savannah chuckles. "I had so many CDs and books we had to build a whole other room for them."
"Yeah. I was getting jealous that your collection was getting bigger than mine." Peyton teases. "Come on, Savannah. What happened that night?"
Savannah shakes her head, sighing. "Nothing happened, Aunt Peyton. I fell off my bike and since my bike was busted I couldn't use it and I was too hurt to walk home. But Grandpa Dan drove by and found me." Peyton appears surprised by this. "And he brought me home."
"Is that why you went to his house last night?"
Savannah shrugs. "I just wanted to see him. I wanted to feel safe."
"And you weren't feeling safe at home?"
"Mom has been so crazy worried about Angie and Dad has been either obsessing over Lindsey - " Peyton looks down, thinking about Lucas' book that Lindsey gave her to read. " - or he's been obsessing and helping mom with Angie. And that night I - I " Savannah stammers, trying her best to come up with the best excuse that could. She couldn't tell Peyton what happened at Willow's. She couldn't tell anyone. "I don't know. I guess I just wanted to be with someone who just wanted me. And I know Dad hates him and I get it. Grandpa Dan did a terrible thing. He killed Great Uncle Keith and I hate that I never got to meet him. But Grandpa Dan served his time. He seems like he changed. I just don't understand why I can't give him the chance to have a family again."
Peyton exhales heavily, and reaches over running her hand over Savannah's head. "You have an amazing heart, Savannah Scott. And one day you'll understand why we are all against Dan Scott being back in our lives. You're right. You never met Keith. But I can tell you right now he was an amazing guy who did not deserve to die. He was about to start a family with Karen and your dad, but because of Dan he never got the chance to do the one thing he's always wanted to be apart of because of a jealous man's heart."
A tear slowly falls down Savannah's cheek and falls down on the notebook below her. "Have you ever been hurt, Aunt Peyton?"
Peyton furrows her brows, confused on where this subject is going. "Uh. Yeah, of course. I mean, it depends on what type of hurt we're talking about here."
"In Dad's book he mentions how this crazy guy pretended to be your brother. He stalked you and hurt you pretty badly."
Peyton nods, remembering that day. "Yeah. He hurt your mom, too."
"Are you ever scared that he'll come back, even though he's in jail? I mean, did you ever have - "
"Nightmares?" Peyton questions. "Oh, man." She scoffs. "Yeah, I did. I didn't sleep for days, weeks. But your dad and your mom helped me both times." Savannah nods. Peyton gives Savannah a quizzical look, sensing there's a reason for her asking. "Savannah, did someone hurt you?"
Savannah hesitates. "Um, no." She mumbles.
"Savannah, you know your mom and dad love you, right? And, as much as your mom loves and has been enjoying having Angie around, Angie has her own family. Once she recovers Angie has to go back to her parents and then it's just you and her again, kid."
Savannah shrugs, picking up her pen. "Until the next baby comes." She puts her earphones back in her ear, pretty much giving Peyton the signal that she's done talking. And, unfortunately, Peyton couldn't force her to.
Brooke is waiting impatiently in the waiting room, letting her emotions get the best of her as she allows her tears to fall freely as she worries about Angie.
"Brooke - " Brooke looks up to find Dr. Copeland walking towards her. He's dressed in his scrubs and drips of sweat are beaming from his forehead. " - the operation went very smoothly. Angie did great."
Brooke stands up. "Is she gonna be okay?" She asks.
"She's in recovery now. We are assisting her breathing, but she's stable and all indications are she's gonna be just fine." Dr. Copeland assures her.
Brooke breaks down in tears of relief. "Thank you."
Lucas walks up and immediately thinks the worst when he sees the doctor and Brooke crying. "Brooke?"
"She's gonna be okay." Lucas sighs, relieved. He walks up and sets the coffees down before bringing Brooke into his embrace. "Dr. Copeland." Brooke calls to the doctor before he can walk away. He looks back at her. "Thanks for fixing her."
"You're welcome." He smiles. "You, too." He then turns and walks away, leaving Brooke to cry happy tears into Lucas' chest.
Peyton drives up to Brooke's store and she and Savannah quickly get out and run inside.
"Savannah, you stay here with Millicent." Peyton continues to hurry into the back of the store. She runs upstairs and steps onto the roof of the building to find Haley leaning over the edge of the building. "Haley, don't do it!" She shouts. "You've got too much to live for!" Haley jumps back, startled. She looks back at Peyton with a water balloon in her hand. "Dude, Millicent calls, says you're depressed-looking, you're headed to the roof. I get all freaked out. What's going on, foxy?"
Haley sighs. "I found my five-year-old daughter walking alone on the street today. You know why? Cause I lied to her. I'm worried I'm wasting your time with this record, Peyton."
"No, Haley, the record's gonna be great."
"Well, I hope so, but what about after that?" Haley asks with frustrated tears. "Mia said that her life is so nomadic that she can't even imagine having a family or let alone a serious relationship. I have a husband and three kids who need me, and a classroom full of students."
"Okay, Haley, it's not wrong for you to want what you want." Peyton assures her before she witnesses a mental breakdown. "And you're not Mia."
"But I used to be. Do you remember how hard that was on my relationship?"
"Alright, so this time it won't be. This time you'll do it differently." Peyton walks over and leans on the edge of the building with Haley. "And this time I'll help you." She nudges her playfully. "I like your water balloon."
Haley chuckles. "Yeah, Lucas and I used to come up here and throw some off the roof on a bad day."
"What?" Peyton laughs. "On who?"
"Little kids." Haley shrugs. "Mean people, you know. You'd be surprised at how good it makes you feel."
Peyton looks down, seeing someone familiar walking by. "Well, speaking of mean people." She nods her head down below.
They both look down to find Dan getting a newspaper. "We were just kids then, right?" Haley asks, tempted.
"Yes, you're too mature to be doing that stuff now. But I'm not!" Peyton grabs the water balloon from Haley and tosses it over the building. It falls right at Dan's feet and he looks up. They quickly bend down so he doesn't see them.
"Dude, the guy's gotta have a heart transplant. He's gonna drop dead." Haley whispers.
"You didn't tell me that!" Peyton laughs. "But you were right. It really, really was fun." They look down below again as Dan looks around wondering who dropped it. "You know who really needs this? Savannah. She's in the store. I'm going get her."
Moments later, Peyton and Haley are standing on either side of Savannah on top the roof, each with their own water balloons in hand.
"Okay, Savannah, find your person and attack." Peyton grins.
Savannah raises her brows at Haley. She couldn't believe her aunt was for this. "And you and Dad used to do this when you were my age?"
Haley laughs. "All the time."
"I can't believe you're allowing me to do this." Savannah says in disbelief as she looks over the edge of the building to find her target.
Haley scoffs. "What? I'm fun!" Peyton and Savannah share a look. "I can be fun." Haley glares.
Peyton shakes her head and chuckles. "Alright, kid." She looks at Savannah with all seriousness in her eyes. "We know you're hurting. And we know it's not just because you fell off your bike." Savannah looks down, guilty. "If you won't talk to us and let us at least help you that way, what better way than to take your anger out on someone else with a water balloon?" Savannah grins and nods her head. She looks down, searching for her target. "Alright, rock-star, who's going to be?"
A few people pass by before Savannah finally chooses. It just so happens to be Jessica and Jenna, Willow's friends, walking by. They are laughing and drinking cold coffees. "Them." Savannah grabs another water balloon and then tosses two down to the ground, hitting both of them.
She, Peyton, and Haley quickly hide behind the ledge as the girls look up, shocked and soaked from head to toe. "How'd that feel?" Haley asks.
Savannah lets out a long sigh as she smiles softly at her aunts. "It felt great."
Peyton nods, happy to know they could help Savannah, even if it's just for a bit. She grabs two more balloons from their bucket and hands them to Savannah. "How about just a few more?" Savannah chuckles as they stand back up to find their next targets.
Meanwhile, at the station, Mouth walks into his boss' office.
"You wanted to see me, sir?"
"I hear the Ravens might be playing Quentin Fields tonight, broken wrist and all."
Mouth nods, confirming. "Yeah, I think so. Should be a good game."
"So grab a camera and go get me a story." His boss urges.
"Really?" Mouth says, taken aback. "I mean, thank you, sir."
"Uh, Marvin - " His boss stops him before he walks out. " - we've decided to give you a shot here. Don't let us down."
"I won't." Mouth assures him. "You can count on me."
The Raven's game begins and the opposing coach begins to taunt Lucas.
"Hey, Scott. You really gonna play a kid with one hand against the best back-court in the conference?"
But Lucas ignores him and concentrates on the game. Quentin is running the ball down the court. "Alright, Q, let's go! Push it!" Quentin runs the ball down the court and passes to the available player who shoots it into the goal within eight seconds as they planned. "Alright! Full court press!" He yells as they move to defense. Unfortunately, the opposing team makes a goal as well. But that just gives the Ravens another opportunity to score. Quentin runs them down the court again and passes the ball. But his teammate misses the goal. "Pick them up on defense!"
As the game goes on, Haley walks up the bleachers with Jamie, Lydia, and Emma.
"Can I at least go sit with Andre, Mom?" Jamie already couldn't go to the Rivercourt with his friends since he's grounded. So, seeing them at school and at games was his best shot to hang out with them while he could.
Haley sighs. "Fine. But no running off at halftime."
"Thanks!" Jamie runs down the bleachers and sits with Andre and Chuck.
"Don't you want to go and sit with your friends, too,?"
Lydia shakes her head and sits down. "Savannah isn't here, so what's the point?"
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Savannah, sweetie." Haley has been apologizing to her kids since she picked them up from school. They were freaking out. And since their parents took their phones away, they weren't able to call to see if Savannah was okay. "She's recovering, but she'll be back at school in a couple of days."
Lydia rolls her eyes. "Well, I would have known that if I had my phone."
Haley narrows her eyes at her daughter. "Lydia." Lydia crosses her arms, defiantly, and focuses on the game. Haley shakes her head, but as she turns she sees Dan standing near the bleachers. He turns, seeing her, too, and moves behind the railing pretending to not be there.
The Ravens continue to gain points as Quentin pushes them on. "Yes!" Lucas yells. "D up! Full-court! Go, go, go!"
"You can't keep this up for long." The opposing Coach tells him just as his team scores. "There you go! I told you. I told you." He laughs.
"Subs." Lucas calls out. Four of the players stand up from the bleachers ready to take their turns on the court.
"What is this, hockey?"
Lucas chuckles. "No, it's your worst nightmare." He says to himself.
Quentin runs the ball down the court, trying to find an open man as the final countdown begins. The crowd begins to count when Quentin finally finds an open man and the Ravens make the final shot for halftime.
Exhausted, but feeling good, the team is celebrating while Lucas sits in his office. While he is going over the plays for the next half, his cell phone rings. He's a bit surprised when he sees that it is Lindsey calling.
"Lindsey." He answers. "Hi. No, I mean, I'm at halftime of a game, but I'm just so glad you called. I was beginning to worry. Yeah, we're up by seven. Oh, I miss you so much." He chuckles, just happy to hear her voice. But as Lindsey continues to talk, Lucas' face falls with dismay. "Oh."
"Come on, defense, move your feet!" Lucas shouts as they play the next half of the game. Lucas seems a lot more angry as he yells at different players. They run the ball down the court, allowing the opposing team to score. "Dammit, Q! Cut off the baseline!" On the bench Skills looks up at Lucas, knowing he's pushing the team too hard. Quentin catches the ball, struggling to breathe as he runs it down the court. "Q, you got to get there!"
"Coach, I can barely breathe right now."
"Yeah, well, pick it up, or I'll find someone who wants to play!"
Skills had enough. "Luke." But Lucas ignores him. Quentin throws the ball to his teammate, but it's blocked by the other team and thrown out of bounds.
"Unbelievable!" Lucas shouts furiously. "Time-out!" The ref blows his whistle and the teams gather together on their side. "Alright, look. I know you're tired, okay? But nothing in this life comes easy, you hear me? Nothing. So suck it up! Now, we got three minutes left, and we're up by nine points. Finish it! You hear me? We are not gonna lose this game."
"Ravens on three." Quentin puts his hand in as the others follow.
"No." Lucas glances at the opposing team. "Bear Creek sucks."
"Bear Creek sucks!" They shout in unison.
"You hear that?" The opposing coach tells his team. "They're taunting you. And they're right. Their point guard only has one hand."
"Yeah, but it's a good hand, Coach." One of the guys says.
"Alright, then, here's what we're gonna do. Whenever he gets the ball, you foul him. He'll either miss his free throws or we'll break his other hand. Alright, let's go. Four-nine on three."
The teams run back on court, ready to finish the game. It's Ravens' ball and just as the ball is being thrown to Quentin, one of the guys from the other team purposefully fouls him.
"Ref, that's flagrant!" Lucas shouts.
"No, sir." The ref disagrees. "It's one and one."
"Hey, they're playing hack-a-Shaq." Skills tells Lucas. "They gonna send Q to the line and make him shoot left-handed free throws."
Lucas glances back at the smug opposing coach. "Real nice." He says, sarcastically. The teams take their place around the foul line as Quentin gets ready to shoot. "Come on, Q!" The first shot is good!
"Alright, baby, one more!" Skills encourages.
The second shot is good!
"Ronnie, come here!" The opposing coach calls out to his player, realizing his plan failed. "Take out that wrist, Ronnie."
"I got it." Ronnie assures him.
The Ravens set up to play defense. As they begin, the opposing team passes the ball until it's blocked by Quentin who runs it down the court. But just before he can pass it, Ronnie runs up on him and hits his injured wrist, knocking the ball from his hands.
"Out of bounds." The ref calls. "Warrior ball."
"What!?" Lucas shouts in disbelief. "You're kidding me. On the street, that's assault. You're not even gonna call that a foul in here?" Lucas steps up to the ref, who just stares at him. Lucas scoffs and throws the ball off the floor in fury.
The ref blows his whistle. "Technical foul!"
"Oh, you're gonna T me up?" Lucas questions. "You blow the call, and you're gonna T me up!?"
"You're gonna get tossed, son." The ref warns.
"You need to throw his dumb ass out." Ronnie comments as he walks by.
This just throws Lucas over the edge. He turns around and grabs Ronnie by his jersey. "How do you like it?"
Because of this both teams begin to fight while Skills and Nathan try to pull Lucas away from the boy.
Lucas storms into the locker room with Nathan following behind.
"What the hell happened?"
"That kid intentionally tried to hurt Q, and you saw it!" Lucas says, angrily.
"I know, but, Luke, you grabbed him, man."
Lucas forcefully slams a locker closed. "I should have knocked him out!" He takes a few heavy, frustrated breaths as he sits down on the bench.
"This is really bad, Luke." Nathan tells him.
"She's seeing someone else." Lucas finally admits, telling him what Lindsey told him on their phone call. "Lindsey. She called at halftime. She's supposed to come back to me."
"Luke, I know you don't want to hear this, but what if she doesn't? I mean, what if she's not going to? You can't wait around forever. Maybe it's time to move on."
But Lucas ignores his brother as he stands up. "My daughter doesn't even want me around. Lindsey was supposed to come back." He says as he starts to walk to the locker doors to leave. "Nothing is going as it should be."
Nathan simply nods, knowing how hard everything has been lately for Lucas. So, he doesn't say anything. He just lets his brother walk out.
"Thanks for taking care of her, Peyton." Brooke says over the phone as she sits in the hospital room with Angie who is now breathing on her own and sleeping.
"Yeah. I think she just misses you, Brooke." Peyton says as she stands in the doorway of Savannah's bedroom, watching the girl sleep.
Brooke frowns. "I don't understand."
Peyton smiles softly. "Don't worry about it. I got her. You just focus on Angie right now."
"Tell her I'll see her in the morning."
"You got it." Peyton hangs up and closes Savannah's bedroom door.
Lucas then walks into the hospital room. "Hi." Brooke greets him. "Did you win?"
"I don't know."
Brooke furrows her brows, confused. "What?"
"How's Angie?" Lucas changes the subject.
"She's stronger than I am." Brooke says, proudly. "She's breathing on her own. They said she's doing great."
"That's good." Lucas smiles. "That's really good, Brooke. And how's our girl doing?"
Brooke chuckles. "Apparently, she, Haley, and Peyton threw water balloons off the roof today." Lucas smiles. "It seemed to help."
Lucas nods, reminding himself to tell Haley thank you. "It helped me, too."
"Listen, I appreciate that you came by, but they said I'm the only one who's allowed to be in here after hours." Brooke tells him, afraid he'll get caught.
"That's okay. I, um, Lindsey called."
"See?" Brooke says, happily. "That's great, Luke. You thought she was avoiding you."
"Yeah." Lucas chuckles. "Well, I'll see you."
"Hey - " Brooke stops him before he can leave. " - what do you mean you don't know if you won or not tonight?"
"I meant I don't know if the team won. But I lost. I know that for sure."
At Tric, Lucas managed to make his way over there and was throwing back a few shots just as his phone rings. He looks down at it, seeing who it is, and puts it down, grabbing his next shot of alcohol.
"How come Uncle Lucas was so upset tonight?" Lydia wonders as she, Haley, Emma, and Jamie sit together on a bench in the hallway, waiting for Nathan.
Haley sighs, putting down her phone. "I'm not sure, honey. Uncle Lucas won't call me back."
Dan then walks out from the end of the hall and Emma is the first to notice. "Hey, look, there's Grandpa!"
Jamie, Lydia, and Emma turn to Haley. They were unsure if they could approach him or not. But as Haley and Dan lock eyes, she grabs the card Emma made for him and hands it to her daughter. "Why don't you go give your card to your grandpa? And how about you two walk her over?"
Jamie and Lydia smile, gratefully, at their mom as they run with Emma towards Dan. "Grandpa Dan!" Emma exclaims.
Dan kneels down and takes the card from Emma. "We all want to thank you for that night." Jamie tells him. "And for helping Savannah when she had her accident."
Dan smiles at the card and looks at his grandchildren. "I'll always help you, kids."
The kids all smile and hug him before they walk back towards Haley. "Go find your dad, okay?" Haley watches her kids round the corner before she turns back to Dan.
"Thank you, Haley."
"That wasn't for you. That was for them."
Dan nods, understanding, as Haley turns and walks away.
"It's a big story, Bill." Mouth's boss tells the head boss as they walk through the news station.
"Marvin." Bill says, as Mouth walks in. "Tell me you got some great footage of Lucas Scott grabbing that kid."
Mouth hesitates, though. The last thing he wants to do is plant Lucas to look like the bad guy to the whole world. "I, uh, I didn't get it." Bill looks away, disappointed. "I'm sorry."
"I'm sorry, too."
Peyton is sitting in the kitchen drawing when her phones rings. She looks down at who is calling and frowns.
Peyton walks into Tric, looking around until she finds what, or rather who, she is looking for. Lucas is passed out at the bar. She walks over and nudges him awake. "Luke!" Lucas sits up. "Hey. Luke. Hey, come on." She helps Lucas to his feet and walks him out.
At the studio later that night, Haley walks in to record when Mia joins her.
"Hey, what are you doing here so late?" She asks as she sits with Haley at the piano.
"Hey." Haley smiles. "I'm not exactly sure, actually. I'm really happy for you, Mia, all your success. It's just - " She looks at the picture of her family that is taped on the piano. " - I think maybe I'm also a little jealous."
"Really?" Mia asks, surprised.
"Yeah."
"That's so weird. I'm jealous of you." Haley furrows her brows, taken aback. "Yeah." Mia confirms. "It's like I look at you and think if, four years from now I have this great guy and a beautiful kid and I'm about to make what's gonna be an amazing record, I'm gonna consider myself really damn lucky."
"Thank you." Haley says, appreciatively. "Now I know why I came here." She laughs.
Deb arrives at Tric to meet the man she's been chatting with online.
"Okay, look for the rose." She tells herself. She looks around and smiles when she sees a rose on a table, but the guy's back is turned. "Nobookert?" Deb whispers, seductively.
Skills then turns around with a huge smile on his face. "Debutanteball?"
Both are then shocked to see who each other is. "Antwon." Deb panics. "Oh, no."
"Oh, yeah." Skills grins as he looks her up and down.
"You said you were older."
"Hey, you said you was younger."
"Well, I - I showed you things."
Skills nods. "Yes, you did. Mm-mm-mmm."
"Okay, this is really awkward." Deb tells him. "I mean, obviously, nothing can happen here. I mean, because it can't."
"You right. Nothing can happen."
"Nothing." Deb says more sternly.
"Absolutely nothing." Skills agrees.
They go back to Skills' apartment and start making out. "Oh, what's one night between two consenting adults, right?" Deb asks, panting as Skills kisses her neck.
He then rips open her dress. "Maybe one night and the next morning."
Deb groans, intrigued, and they fall onto his bed.
At the gym, Quentin is walking through the gym to leave with Nathan and the kids.
"It's gonna be bad for coach, isn't it?" He asks.
"Yeah." Nathan frowns. "It's already bad."
At the news station, Mouth is sitting at his desk watching the footage from the game. He then rips the tape apart so no one can ever see it.
Back at the hospital, Brooke is sitting tiredly in the corner of the room, watching over Angie, when Dr. Copeland walks in.
"Hey."
"Hi." Brooke smiles.
"You should get some sleep." He suggests.
But Brooke refuses. "Nah. I want to be here when she opens her eyes."
Dr. Copeland nods his head, understanding. "It's a pretty great feeling, isn't it? It's why I became a surgeon."
"Why's that?"
"To give people their lives back. She'll recover and you'll send her back to her parents, but the day she gets accepted to college, she'll have you to thank." He explains. "The day she gets married, becomes something great. Has children of her own. She'll think, Brooke Davis got me here. She gave me this. Much like I'm sure your own daughter will do the same."
Brooke smiles, thinking about Savannah. "I sure hope so. But Angie won't only have me to thank. She'll have Dr. Copeland, too."
He smiles, chuckling. "Well, it's, um - It's Ethan, by the way. My first name."
Brooke nods, gratefully. "Thank you, Ethan."
"You're welcome, Brooke."
As Ethan walks out, Brooke smiles at Angie before she looks down at her phone and smiles at the picture of Savannah.
Meanwhile, Dan sits over Reverend Carter, who in a coma, inside his hospital room.
"Doc was right. You are in bad shape."
A nurse then walks in, surprised to see him there. "Excuse me, it's after hours. Are you a relative of Reverend Carter?"
"Not a relative, no." Dan grins as he continues to look at the man. "But he's number one on my list."
Peyton managed to get Lucas back home and in bed and is now watching over him as he sleeps. She couldn't help but feel that everything that is going wrong in Lucas' life is her fault.
"Oh, Luke." She sighs. "I'm so sorry. I didn't want this for you." She bends down and gives him a gentle kiss on the forehead before she starts to walk towards his bedroom door.
Lucas opens his eyes just as she does. "Peyton." Peyton turns around, facing him. "I hate you."
Peyton's face falls. "What?"
"I wish you never came back. You ruined my life."
Immediate tears fill her eyes as Lucas turns away and falls back to sleep. She slowly opens the door, still in shock, and walks out.
