"Look, guys. I know what we're up against."Vincent said to the group of Witches that had gathered in the Church."There's a faction of our own people, Witches. They've started to make Human sacrifices to a spirit called the Hollow. Now, this thing is dark, it's angry, it's very powerful."Vincent explained to everyone.
"It is a force my Family and I are here to erase."Finn said as he and Elena stepped out of the shadows and everyone started mumbling after getting a good look at Finn and realised that he was an Original."Now, if you'd kindly excuse us, please."He looked pointedly at Vincent."Mr. Griffith, my Sister, and I have much to discuss."
"Okay, uh..."Vincent trailed off for a second as everyone started to get up."Give me a minute." As everyone walked past Elena and Finn, the duo walked towards Vincent.
"So, now that we've dispensed with the needless hysteria-I got a lot on my plate, Elena, Finn, without whatever trouble you're trying to bring my way."Vincent cut Finn off.
"You need us."Elena said sharply.
"And fortunately, my Family has a long history of removing anything undesirable from New Orleans."Finn added as they walked past Vincent.
"I'm probably one of the things that's on your Family's list."Vincent said bitterly, eyeing Finn warily."So I reckon it's best for me to work alone."
"Oh, it's not an offer."Finn said as he and Elena turned around to look at Vincent.
"Children's lives are at risk."Elena said sharply, her mind wondering to her Daughter and Niece.
"You care about children's lives at risk?"Vincent asked and scoffed."What about Davina Claire, Elena?"
"The Angel of Death is taking care of her!"Elena growled out, eyes narrowed."I couldn't do anything and you know it."
"You could have stopped Freya and Elijah!"Vincent retorted furiously.
"So, you can only see me, my Sister, and my Husband as some kind of merciless butchers."Elena stated, realising she wasn't going to get through to Vincent.
"Yes. I do."Vincent stated softly.
"I'll be whatever you want me to be, Vincent Griffith."Elena said, walking forwards slightly."I'll be the Devil's Daughter if I have to, but make no mistake, I would violate everything sacred under the sun in the name of rescuing my Daughter and Niece."Elena said, her eyes as cold as steel."And right now, according to you,"Vincent looked away with a sigh as he put his head in his hands."you are facing more than two evils."Elena gestured to herself and Finn, who smirked slightly."Wouldn't it be nice to have those evils of those by your side?" Elena raised an eyebrow, waiting for Vincent's answer.
"We're gonna do this my way."Vincent said softly but sternly.
Finn and Elena looked at each other before Finn narrowed his eyes at Elena, who wanted to protest."Great."Elena muttered.
"Your way it is."Finn added with a sharp nod.
A little while later, Vincent had gathered what he needed to perform a Spell."And who might this be?"Finn asked, seeing the ashes as he and Elena walked into the room and walked around the table to stand in front of Vincent and Elena raised an eyebrow at him.
"These are the ashes of a Witch that lost his way and it might just be the key to helping us find ours."Vincent said confidently."This thing, um, the Hollow..."Vincent trailed off, trying to find the right words to say."its Magic has a very unique signature. I felt it on this Witch the other day when Marcel and I took him out, so if I can trace that energy back to its source..."Vincent tried to explain to the Original and the Nephilim.
He wasn't sure if they were getting the idea or not due to their perfectly blank faces, even though he knew that Finn used to be a Warlock and Elena was part Witch and she most likely understood it due to her Demon heritage.
"You can find the rest of these fanatics."Finn concluded and Vincent nodded before getting back to work."So this thing which haunts my Nieces..."Finn trailed off for a moment, eyeing Vincent."has it spoken to you?"He asked warily.
"It's more like, um, a broadcast."A look of understanding appeared on Finn's face while Elena's eyes narrowed in worry as Vincent gestured to his mind."And I was able to shut it out, but a lot of people have a harder time doing that."
"Like your Wife."Finn suddenly said, surprising Elena because she never knew Vincent had a Wife.
"You know, there's a difference between what we project and what we have inside of our hearts, what we try to hide inside of our hearts, right?"Vincent stated questionably, making little hand gestures."Now that thing, it took everything that's dark and twisted inside of me and it used it against me."Elena pursed her lips, glancing away from Vincent, knowing where he was coming from."It used it against my Wife and it ended up taking everything that I've ever loved away from me."
"So, then, you have every reason to want to remove it from this earth."Elena stated rather than questioned Vincent.
"Yeah. But let's say that we run into that thing today, Elena."Elena's eyes narrowed."It's gonna take everything that you want to keep buried,"The Nephilim tensed, wondering what he was getting at."it's going to use that and make you do exactly what it wants you to do."Finn shifted on his feet. "And that's what makes you and Finn a liability to your Daughter and Niece that we're both trying to protect."
"I have nothing buried deep inside my heart or mind, Vincent."Elena said, her eyes as cold as ice."There's nothing to hide about what or who I am. I don't hide the darkest and twisted parts of myself."
"Not even from your Daughter or Niece?"Vincent questioned her and she didn't say anything."Yeah, that's what I thought."
"Let's get to work."Finn suddenly said in a soft but stern and cold voice.
"That man, Vincent..."Hope said, looking up at her Father and Uncle."Mom and Auntie Elena said he was a Witch. That he came to help Astrid and I feel better. But we feel worse."Hope explained, looking pained.
"I know. I know."Klaus cooed gently."But don't worry, because as we speak, your Mothers and your Uncle Finn are working with Vincent to fix you girls up."Klaus said gently."So you just stay calm and they'll make everything all right."Klaus smiled at Hope and Astrid and they returned the smile, even though they were still in pain.
"Is Mama better now?"Astrid asked, looking at her Father, along with Hope.
"Much better, Little Love."Elijah said gently, smiling at Astrid's worry for her Mother."That's why she's out there, helping Vincent and Auntie Hayley and Uncle Finn. If she wasn't, I would have confined her to bed."Elijah said, giving Astrid the reassurance she needed.
"Do you know what it is?"Hope suddenly asked, looking curious."The Hollow?"
"No, Sweetheart, we don't."Klaus said, looking away from Hope's blue eyes.
"It wants those other kids. Astrid and I can feel them."Hope said after sharing a silent conversation with Astrid, who nodded in agreement."We think it wants us, too."Hope explained, surprising the Brothers, who's worry increased tenfold at hearing this.
"We are not gonna let anything take you girls."Elijah and Klaus shared a silent conversation of their own when they glanced at each other then looked back at the girls."We promise you that. We're going to keep you two safe, Always and Forever."Elijah and Klaus said in unison, taking that vow to heart, as they looked between the sickly looking brunette and auburn haired children.
Elena and Finn watched quietly and closely as Vincent did the Spell;"Chèche in virtute."Vincent saw a group of Witches."Chèche in virtute, chèche in virtute."A dark protective talisman."Chèche in virtute."Vincent gasped when he saw who the talisman was given to.
"What is it?"Finn asked as Vincent stopped chanting. When Vincent didn't say anything, Finn grabbed him by the arm and made Vincent look at him."Vincent, what did you see?"Vincent licked his lips nervously at what he had just seen.
While Elena decided to wait for Finn and Vincent to get Detective William Kinney, she decided to call Elijah and find out how Hope and Astrid were doing. She already missed her child and wanted nothing more than to hear Astrid's voice.
"Hey, how are the girls?"Elena asked Elijah the moment he answered the phone.
"They're sleeping at the moment."Elijah answered, glancing into the room to double check and smirked when he saw Klaus by the window that was closest to the bed."Niklaus has taken his role seriously as their protector at the moment."Elena chuckled in amusement, never picturing Klaus as the protector type."Also, Freya will be here soon to stir up one of her medicinal concoctions."
"That's good."Elena said, smiling gently.
"And how are you, Lovely?"Elijah asked, concern leaking into his voice as he stepped into the Study and closed the door, even though he knew that Klaus would be listening in on their conversation like he had been with Hayley's.
"I'm fine."Elena answered him honestly."No more headaches, no more chills racing up and down my spine, no more wings popping into existence and going all poofy, and definitely no more nosebleeds."Elena listed her former symptoms before sighing."We have barely been awake for a week and it's been five years and now I can't even be near my own Daughter because of this Hollow, Elijah. This is torture."Elena suddenly said, tears forming in her eyes and she quickly wiped away a stray tear.
"Elena, Lovely, listen to me."Elijah said in a stern but gentle voice, his heart going out to his Mate."We will get rid of this thing very soon, I know we will, and you will get to spend as much time with our Daughter as you want. This, I promise you."Elijah swore and Elena sniffed.
"I know, it's just, I've missed so much already, and you missed her babyhood. I just don't want us to miss anymore of her childhood because before we know it, she'll become a teenager and then an adult and will find her Mate and have a life of her own."
"Not happening."Elijah suddenly growled out possessively."No boy is good enough for my Precious Baby. Not even her Mate."Elena giggled."I'm serious Elena, she's not dating, ever."
"You do know that there's a possibility that her Mate could be a girl, right?"Elena questioned him, leaving him shocked for a moment.
"But what about children?"Elijah suddenly asked and regretted it. He couldn't, didn't want to think of his Little Girl being pregnant.
"If her Mate is a girl, it's a ninety-nine percent chance that her Mate will most likely be a Witch."Elena stated, smiling in amusement."Witches and Nephilims can have children by Magically implanting a male's seed and changing the DNA to the Witch's or the Nephilim's genetic coding."Elena explained calmly."All depending on who's the one that wears the dress in the relationship, then they're the ones carrying the child."
"It's still not happening."Elijah said, frowning heavily.
"Elijah, if she's anything like me and most likely Rebekah, she will rebel against you and your rules."Elena said knowingly.
Elijah couldn't help but cringe at the mental image, remembering how Rebekah acted when he and Klaus denied her to have a lover here and there every few centuries and shivered. Rebelah was a nightmare whenever that happened.
"I wonder how'd you react if we had another child and this one happened to be a boy?"Elena couldn't help but wonder and Elijah froze, along with Klaus, who had been listening in on their conversation.
"Elena, is there something you'd like to tell me?"Elijah asked worriedly.
"Wha? No! No, no! I'm not pregnant, I swear!"Elena said, bursting into a fit of giggles."I was just thinking if you'd act like this if we had a Son."The Nephilim explained herself and Klaus and Elijah inwardly sighed in relief at hearing this.
"If we did have a Son, he wouldn't be allowed to date either."Elijah stated firmly.
"And if he would be anything like you or your Brothers when they went through their teenage years, I'm sure he'd rebel against you and your rules as well."Elena said with a small smirk on her face before sighing."Look, Vincent got a lead, one of his Human friends is involved with the Hollow."
"A Human involved with the Supernatural?"Elijah questioned in surprise.
"I know, considering how rare it is for Humans to know about our kind, but it seems he has known about our kind for about five years now."Elena licked her lips nervously."He was a friend of Cami's."She added lowly so that only Elijah heard her, knowing that Cami was still a sore subject for Klaus.
"Camille told him?"Elijah asked, eyes wide.
"No, apparently when Lucien abducted Cami to find the Serratura, he used Detective Kinney as leverage, then Klaus compelled his memories away, however, Vincent later told him the truth after Cami died."Elena explained before sighing."And now it seems he's been influenced by the Hollow and is now doing it's bidding."
"If he's been infected by the Hollow, Elena, it's best you keep your distance."Elijah demanded and Elena hummed.
"I am. Anything on Hayley's end?"Elena asked.
"Yes. She informed Niklaus that she, Marcel, and Jackson had just found out that a Wolf Girl got involved with the Hollow and are now on their way to talk to her."Elijah stated.
"Ok, so now we know that a Human and a Wolf have gotten involved with the Hollow, which is Witch Business?"Elena stated questionably, frowning.
"Yes, it's becoming rather absurd, isn't it?"Elijah questioned Elena rhetorically.
"Yeah, it has."Elena sighed softly."I'll call you back when I get more information or you call me back if something happens to the girls, ok?"
"You know I will."Elijah said firmly.
"I love you and tell Astrid and Hope I love them?"Elena asked him, although she already knew that he would tell them that anyway.
"Of course, Lovely."Elijah said, smiling."I love you, too."He added before Elena hung up.
Elijah came out of the Study and walked back into the room Klaus and the girls were in and found Klaus sitting beside Hope, looking concerned and confused by something.
"What is it, Brother?"Elijah asked, raising an eyebrow at Klaus, who turned to him.
"Hope and Astrid woke up for a few minutes and told me something odd."Klaus stated and Elijah tilted his head slightly to the side questionably."They made me promise them that if you or I ever saw blue lights, we wouldn't look at them."
Elijah pursed his lips."How odd indeed..."He muttered, eyes narrowed in thought and Klaus nodded his agreement.
Not long after Elena hung up on Elijah, Finn texted her and told her that they had Will. So against her better judgement and after just telling Elijah that she'd keep her distance for now, Elena made her way over to where Vincent and Finn were holding Will hostage and ran into Finn outside the pub.
"What's going on?"Elena asked him, seeing the frustrated look in his eyes.
"I tried to get inside the Human's mind but someone is blocking me from entering and now I am allowing Vincent to have five minutes to break through the shield."Finn said, frowning."You shouldn't be here."He added, eyes narrowed.
"I'm fine. I'm just going to wait here and use my super hearing to listen to whatever you manage to get out of him."Elena said, crossing her arms and walked over to the nearest wall that was close to the door and leaned her back up against it.
"Fine."Finn muttered, knowing he wasn't going to get through to her, seeing as she was as stubborn as her Ancestors, and walked back inside.
Elena listened quietly as the Human screamed in pain for five minutes due to Vincent trying to break through the mental shield around Will's mind until Finn said that time was up and started bickering with Vincent. Finn gave in and told Vincent to finish it.
The Nephilim's eyes narrowed at hearing Vincent say that he was one that gave the Hollow breath and that he let the Hollow into this world. Elena pursed her lips at Vincent's wordings and bit the inside of her cheek, her eyes flickering left and right as she thought over his words.
Elena almost jumped out of her skin when she heard something or someone smash against the wall."There's no going back, Vince."She heard the Human say before hearing Vincent cry out.
Elena sped into the pub, keeping her distance at the entrance and looked around, finding a smashed mirror, Finn on the ground and Vincent in the opposite direction of Finn. Looking for the Human, she found him nowhere in sight.
"What the hell happened?"Elena asked as Finn got to his feet.
"Any other wonderful ideas?"Finn asked instead of answering Elena's question and looked down at Vincent.
"I tagged him with Magic, so now we can trace him."Vincent said, glancing up at Finn and Elena, who came over to them."Right back to the kids."
"Let's go."Elena and Finn said in unison and Finn helped Vincent up.
Elena and Finn followed Vincent into the forest and found a dream catcher."I assume you told everybody to be on their best behavior?"Vincent questioned them as Elena used her index finger to make the dream catcher spin.
"We're getting close."Elena muttered, ignoring Vincent's question and continued to eye the object.
"Oh, I told them."Finn stated."Now whether or not they'll be obedient is another thing altogether, because normally they never listen to me."He added sourly before turning ahead, along with Elena, and walked over to Klaus and Elijah, who were walking towards them at a quick pace.
"Where's Hope and Astrid?"Elena questioned Klaus and Elijah.
"Freya's with the girls now."Klaus stated as Elijah brought Elena into his arms.
"She's fighting it-They're fighting it."Elijah corrected himself as they pulled away, remembering that Astrid wasn't alone in fighting the Hollow.
"Whatever it is."Klaus stated, spitting out the it."You shouldn't be here."He added, looking at Elena with a frown on his face.
"Niklaus is right, you shouldn't be here."Elijah agreed, frowning down at Elena.
"Well, where should I be? With the girls? I'll only be affected by it again. Tell me, where should I go?"Elena questioned them, crossing her arms and narrowed her gaze as she looked between them.
"Anywhere but here and where the girls are."Klaus said as if it was obvious and Elena scoffed.
"The kids are attached to that Spell."Vincent suddenly said, breaking up the upcoming argument. "If we save the kids, we save your little girls."
"And the sooner you all can be on your way."Everyone turned to see Marcel, Hayley, and Jackson arrive.
Elijah eyed Marcel warily, as did Elena."Clearly, we're skipping all the hugs and hellos."Hayley stated and looked at Vincent."Vincent?"
Vincent gestured ahead of him."Trail leads off this way, so, I guess we, uh, follow the breadcrumbs."He walked a few steps forward in the direction he pointed in.
"Tactless savages holding a ghost-raising rave."Klaus spoke up, sounding frustrated."Best make short work of them. I say we-We split up."Marcel cut in and pointed at Klaus.
"Klaus, you're with me, I'm not letting you out of my sight."Klaus rolled his eyes and looked away from Marcel."Anybody got a problem with that? I don't give a damn."Klaus, Elijah, and Finn shared a look before nodding and decided to go along with Marcel's demands.
"I'll go with Elijah and Elena."Hayley said to Jackson, who raised an eyebrow at her."If this thing affects her as badly if more then one person is infected by it, then she's gonna need more than just Elijah to protect her and keep her at a distance."Hayley explained in a whisper to her Husband and Jackson nodded in understanding.
"I'll go with Finn."Jackson stated and walked over to the oldest Original.
"Then I suppose Vincent will want to come with us, or would you rather continue to be around my Brother, who possessed your body?"Elijah asked when Vincent looked at him sharply.
"Fine."Vincent agreed, giving Finn a side glare before walking over to Hayley, Elijah, and Elena.
With the groups decided, everyone split up, but were all heading in the general direction of where the Human had run off in and where the kids were.
"So you knew this Crescent girl?"Elijah questioned Hayley.
"I did."Hayley stated grimly."But whatever that was today, that wasn't her."Elena raised an eyebrow at her."She said something about blue light."Elijah looked at Hayley sharply at this.
"Yeah, that's the Fifolet."Vincent spoke up, drawing their attention to him."New Orleans legend says that a Spirit might present itself in a bright blue ball of light."
"Wonderful. How do we kill it?"Elijah asked in a Klaus like manner.
"We'll find out soon enough."Vincent stated.
"You ok?"Hayley asked Elena in a soft voice.
Elena looked at Hayley."I'm fine, why?"
"You look pale."Hayley admitted, looking at Elena in worry.
"Great. It means we're getting close."Elena said with a small smirk.
"Don't do that."Hayley said, shaking her head and Elena raised an eyebrow at her."Use yourself as some sort of homing beacon, Elena. What if this thing can kill you? If you die, Elijah goes on a rampage and vise versa, remember?"
"I do remember, and I also know that unlike me, Elijah will come back to himself if I do die, because he'll have Astrid."Elena stated knowingly."And, I'm not using myself as a homing beacon or whatever, I was just being sarcastic."Elena added with a sigh."Do I really look that bad?"
"On a scale of one to ten, you're on your way to fifteen."Hayley said honestly and Elena groaned."Are you feeling ill?"
"Not yet, but I'll tell you when I do."Elena promised her and gave the Hybrid a small, honest smile.
By nightfall, they came to the location of where the children were being held captive."Elena, stay here."Elijah said softly to Elena.
Elena glanced at him before she nodded and leaned against a tree, eyeing the stone table that the children were wrapped up in sheets before everyone gasped softly when the leader, who had been talking to Will, was killed by a flying object.
Elijah sped into the area and got rid of one of the Hollow's followers, and Klaus and Marcel quickly followed after him. Meanwhile, Vincent, Jackson, Hayley, and Finn went to get the kids when Vincent told them to.
"Will? Will!"Vincent exclaimed when he saw Will come over to him and the last child."Come on, man. It's over."
"No, Vince. It's only just begun."Will retorted before turning to Marcel, who fell to the floor and was dragged towards Will, and Vincent used this as a distraction to take the last child to where the others were by Elena."You can't stop what's coming."Will whispered to Klaus, who had sped over to him and grabbed him by the neck, with a smirk on his face before Klaus snapped said neck.
"No!"Vincent exclaimed, seeing Klaus snap Will's neck.
Klaus was then forced to his knees next to Marcel and a circle of fire surrounded them. Elijah tried to walk through the fire to get to Klaus, only to fall back as he slammed into a barrier.
"The hell?"Elena whispered, eyes narrowed as chills raced up and down her spine.
"Elena?"Hayley asked, looking at her worriedly and Elena gave her a weak and reassuring smile.
"Now's not the time to worry about me, but to worry about Klaus."Elena said, looking back at the barrier, along with Hayley, Finn, and Jackson.
Vincent ran over to Elijah, who stood up, and looked around, eyes wide."Oh, man, we got this all wrong."Vincent realised."They wanted us here."
"Why?"Elijah and Finn, who rushed over to Elijah's side, questioned Vincent.
"They want to Channel your power, and anchor the Hollow to the living world."Vincent stated, eyes narrowed before turning to where Hayley, Elena, and Jackson were with the kids and ran over to them as the trio were unwrapping them from the sheets.
"They're alive."Jackson confirmed as the two Vampires and Witch came over to them and Vincent sighed in relief before frowning as he bent down next to Jackson.
"These kids are Linked to that Ritual."Vincent stated, gesturing over to where Klaus and Marcel were."We can't free Marcel and Klaus unless we break the Spell."
"How do we stop this?"Elijah asked, not taking his eyes off of Marcel and Klaus.
"I don't know!"Vincent exclaimed and Elijah looked back at him sharply."It's a Sacrificial Ritual."He added."I can't break it unless I kill one of the kids."
"No, no."Elena and Hayley said sharply, realising that if the kids were Linked to the Ritual then so was Hope and Astrid.
"There has to be another way."Hayley added, standing up and looked between Elijah and Finn as Jackson stood up next to her and wrapped an arm around her in comfort.
"There is another way."Elena spoke up, causing everyone to look at her."There is and always has been a loophole to Magic."
"Yeah, um, Elena's right..."Vincent agreed, thinking of every possibility."So these kids are powering that Ritual."He gestured between the kids and where Klaus and Marcel were. "But there might be a loophole, if I link it to Elena, Finn, or Elijah."He looked between the trio.
"Are you suggesting we take one of our lives?"Elijah questioned Vincent in a sharp and dangerous voice.
"I'm suggesting we stake you or Finn with wood or rip out Elena's heart."Elijah growled lowly in his throat.
"A new heart will grow in place of my old one, Elijah."Elena reminded Elijah.
"Yeah, so one of you die, temporarily, and that might be enough to break the Spell."Vincent explained.
"Ok, I'll do it."Finn spoke up.
"No. I will."Elijah said, frowning at Finn, who looked back at him sharply.
"How about both of them do it?"Jackson suddenly asked."You said if one of them dies then it might be enough, but if both of them die, it should, for certain, break the Spell, right?"
"Jackson might just be onto something."Vincent muttered.
"Alright, so we'll both die."Finn said after sharing a nod of agreement with Elijah.
"At least that way, they won't be bickering."Elena grumbled under her breath.
Vincent grabbed one of the children's hands in his before grabbing Elijah's hand in his free hand and Finn grabbed Elijah's free hand."Mare. Mare leurs. Mare leurs esprits."Vincent started chanting a Spell that would link Elijah and Finn to the children."Mare leurs esprits! Mare leurs esprits!"Hayley and Jackson broke off a branch each."Mare leurs esprits! Mare leurs esprits!"The married couple walked over to the Brothers."Jackson, Hayley, do it now!"Vincent demanded and they plunged the branches into Finn and Elijah and caught them as they started to fall.
Hayley let Elena take Elijah from her and turned back to Vincent."Did it work?"Hayley questioned Vincent.
"Yeah."Vincent said with a nod of his head before Elena and Jackson pulled the branches out of Finn's and Elijah's hearts as Marcel and Klaus came over to them.
Hope and Astrid gasped as they woke up, covered in sweat. Wide blue eyes met wide dark brown eyes. The Cousins looked at each other in confusion and slowly sat up and turned to find Freya, who had paused in her pacing when she saw them sit up.
"Astrid! Hope!"Freya exclaimed softly, hugging her Nieces.
"We're not cold anymore."Hope and Astrid said in unison, sounding fine and healthy and Freya sighed in relief at hearing this.
When they got back to the Abattoir, Hayley and Elena checked up on Astrid and Hope. Elena held her Daughter for a few minutes, relieved to finally be able to be near her and hold her close. After they fell asleep, Elena headed downstairs to where Elijah was talking with Klaus while Hayley and Jackson, who had waited patiently outside the room, watched over Hope and Astrid.
"Hey."Elena greeted Elijah, who looked up at her, after Klaus left."I want to ask you something."Elijah raised an eyebrow at her as she bent down in front of him."In the woods, if Vincent hadn't found that loophole..."Elena trailed off, nibbling on her lower lip for a few seconds."What would you have done to those kids?"Elena asked, eyes narrowed.
Elijah glanced away for a second before he put the bottle down and looked back at Elena."Whatever I had to do."Elijah said softly but seriously and his eyes were as hard as steel.
Elena blinked rapidly and bit the inside of her cheek."We have got to stop making it a habit of putting our Family's lives ahead of others."Elena suddenly said."I don't want that for myself,"Elena shook her head as she said this while she continued to look up at Elijah."I don't want that for Astrid or even Hope."Elijah looked away from her and she stood up."We have to do better."Elena stated, placing a hand on the side of Elijah's face and he looked up at her.
Later that night, Hope woke up and turned on her side to see a plate of beignets on the bedside table and grinned, sitting up, she looked down at Astrid and gently shook her older cousin.
"Astrid, wake up."The brunette haired girl groaned softly and opened her eyes to give Hope the stink eye."Look!"Hope pointed at the plate and Astrid propped herself up on her elbow to look at what Hope was pointing at and her eyes widened before she looked back at Hope, who grinned at her and she couldn't help but smile back."Want one?"
"Please and thank you."Astrid chirped, sitting up while Hope grabbed one for herself and for Astrid before getting out of bed with hers."Where are you going?"
"To thank Dad."Hope whispered back over her shoulder.
"Wait for me."Astrid said softly.
Astrid got out of the bed after her little cousin and followed her through the Abattoir while they ate their delicious treat. As they came to the stairs and started to walk up said stairs, the lights flickered behind them, causing the cousins to look back at the lights cautiously and in confusion.
They glanced at each other and shrugged before they continued on their way, glancing at more lights that flickered on and off before they found Klaus, who had his back to them and smiled at each other. As they got closer to Klaus, he turned around to face them with a blank face but his eyes turned an icy shade of blue and the girls' expressions turned to terror as they looked at him and screamed in fear.
Hope's and Astrid's eyes snapped opened and they panted and gasped in horror as they looked at each other."No, no, no."Hope whispered, fearing that her Dad might be possessed by the Hollow.
"It's here."Astrid whispered, grabbing Hope's hand in hers.
"The Hollow... It's here."They said in unison.
