So I made an executive decision not to watch season 16 until season 17 airs & I see they decided to put #Jaggie back together, Lol. Also, I'm a binge watcher so I typically wait so I can watch 2 seasons at a time minimum on Netflix. Anyway that's neither here nor there.

Thanks for reading. I'm glad you all are loving it. I'm really excited about where it's going.

Also, I know zero things about medicine so if treatments don't align with injuries, don't attack me. I did my best to make it as accurate as possible.

All he can hear is this consistent buzzing in his ear as he runs through the hospital and finally bursts through the door. He quickly scans the room. Link, Amelia, Hunt, Korasik, Karev, Schmitt, Jo, Carina….. Maggie.

"Maggie?" he gasps and moves towards her.

Everyone turns towards the door briefly, but it's Alex who runs towards Jackson and holds him back.

"Avery, you can't be in here."

"Maggie" he cries as he fights against Alex, trying to push past him. He's almost free when he feels another set of arms holding him back. He glances behind him and sees Ben.

"Avery, I need you to CALM DOWN." Jackson continues to fight his way towards Maggie, "CALM DOWN!"

Amelia stops what she's doing and walks towards them. She places a gentle hand on his shoulder, "Jackson. Jackson, look at me." when Jackson looks at her with tears running down his cheeks she continues, "We got her. I promise. That's my sister over there. You better believe I got her Jackson."

"Sh-she-she's pregnant."

"We know. We got her, just wait outside Jackson. Please."

He nods and steps back as Alex follows him out, closing the door behind him.

"What the hell happened Karev?"

"From what we can tell, she tripped down the stairs."

"How is she?"

"Broken arm, sprained ankle, Link says it's a partial tear so it should be good in 3 to 6 weeks, pretty nasty head lac, we're waiting on her scans to see if anything else that we can't see is going on."

"Has she regained consciousness at any point?" Ben asks.

"No, which is why everything has been rushed. If there's something wrong we'll find it. She's in there with the best Jackson. You know that."

"She lost the baby." It's a statement, not a question. He can tell by the way Alex has updated him on everything but the baby. If the baby was okay, that would've been the first thing that was said.

Alex looks at Jackson with regret filled eyes, "I'm sorry man."

He's sobbing, as Ben holds him up when he hears Meredith shouting frantically. He looks up and she's running towards them out of breath.

"WHERE THE HELL IS MY SISTER?"

She's in the OR finishing an emergency surgery when Helm runs into the OR, mask in front of her mouth.

"What are you doing in my OR Helm?"

"Uh, sorry. I jus- I"

"Spit it out Helm. I'm busy. Obviously."

"They said to wait but I thought you'd wanna know. Your sister was just wheeled into a trauma room."

Meredith freezes and looks over at Helm for the first time since she walked in. "Which sister? What happened?"

"Dr. Pierce. She tripped and fell down the stairs."

Meredith steps back and begins stripping off her gloves and gown "Helm, scrub in. You good to close?"

"Uh, y-"

"The only answer is yes Helm."

"Yes, of course Dr. Grey."

"Good. Hurry up and get it done. Deluca, make sure she doesn't screw it up." And without another word she's out the door running to get to her sister.

She starts calling out for Maggie as soon as she gets to the trauma section.

"WHERE THE HELL IS MY SISTER?"

She looks over and sees Alex, Ben, and Jackson huddled together, Jackson crying uncontrollably while Ben holds him up.

"No, no, no. Not again." she whispers to herself. "Alex. Alex." She's out of breath when she comes to a stop in front of them, "where's Maggie? Is she dead? What's going on?"

"No, she's not dead." he says as he rolls his eyes, "She should be fine. They're working on her."

"And the baby?"

When she says that Jackson's head snaps towards her and he looks at her with accusing eyes, "You knew she was pregnant?"

"After speaking to you earlier, I put the pieces together and I assumed…. Was?"

"She lost the baby Mer." Alex whispers.

She places a hand on Jackson's shoulder, "I'm so sorry. I'm gonna go see what's going on."

Before she turns away she questions, "They said she tripped and fell?"

"Yeah, she probably tripped and couldn't catch herself." Alex says.

Meredith looks over at Jackson, and he's staring at her "What are you thinking Mer?"

"Nothing, I just" she takes a deep breath, "She's a cluts. There's no doubt about it but… I don't know, I just can't see it."

"I mean, what's the other option? Someone pushed her? Everyone loves her, who would do that?" Ben chimes in.

And suddenly it looks as though a lightbulb's gone off in Meredith's head, and they all see it. Meredith glances over at Alex and she knows he can tell what she's thinking.

"What Meredith?" Jackson asks frantic.

"Nothing. I just need to go check on her. I'll update you" she says as she runs into Maggie's room and automatically begins assessing her.

"Woah, Grey. You can't be in here." Owen says as he blocks her.

"By whatever logic you're using, neither should Amelia. Now move out of my way Owen."

"Meredith, we're basically done here. We'll be moving her to a room in a few minutes. You can see her then."

"Owen, I will tear you apart if you don't move out of my way."

When he steps to the side Meredith has Schmitt read off Maggie's injuries while she stands by Maggie's head, stroking her hair, silently willing her to open her eyes. And suddenly as if Maggie heard her silent pleas, her eyes flutter open.

"Hey, hi. You're okay. You're safe." Meredith says gently.

"…. What? Jackson." she pants.

"Jackson's right outside. He was getting in the way, you know how he is." Meredith says.

Maggie sent her a weak smile.

"You tripped down the stairs. You scared us for a second there, clutsy." Amelia smiles.

Suddenly Maggie's BP is spiking and she's shaking her head no, "pushed." She whispers before she's out again and her machines start going crazy.

"SHE'S HEMORRAGHING!" Amelia shouts.

Meredith takes a step back to let Amelia and Korasik work but all she can think is that she was right. And that bitch was gonna pay.

Amelia was working to make sure her sister made it through this, even though she knew Maggie would wake up heart broken. It took everything in her not to cry for her sister when Carina confirmed what they all already knew, the baby was gone. Jo had just come in and handed her Maggie's brain scans when she heard Meredith say hi. She glances over and almost hits the ground from relief when she sees Maggie's eyes open. She's clearly disoriented, but her eyes are open and that's a good sign. Then just as suddenly as her eyes opened, they were closed again and the machine was going crazy.

"SHE'S HEMMORAGHING!" she shouts.

She stands back and exams the scans Jo had just handed her while Korasik works to get her stable. There. She has a brain bleed. It's very small. Won't even require surgery but she'll need to go into a medically induce coma while they allow it to heal on its own. It would be a waiting game. The only game that Amelia genuinely hated. Especially when her sister was involved.

He stood frozen, staring at Meredith's back. What did she mean? Pushed? Down the stairs? Why? Ben was right. Everyone loves Maggie. Even if they didn't love her, they surely didn't hate her. He remembers the knowing looking she and Karev share before she left and turns toward him.

"What was that look about Karev?"

"What look?"

"Don't play dumb with me right now Karev. I'm not in the mood. What was the look abo-" he's cut off by the sound of machines going off, and yelling coming from Maggie's room, and he takes off running.

When he gets into the room they're stabilizing her while Amelia studies her brain scans.

"What the hell is happening Amelia?"

"She's hemorrhaging. Brain bleed."

"Amelia.." he whispers

She rests a hand on his arm, "It's practically nothing Jackson. A few days in a medically induced coma and that big beautiful brain of hers will be good as new. No surgery required."

He takes a steadying breath, and looks up to see Meredith standing in the corner in shocked silence, and before he can inquire as to why, she's moving again.

"Let me stitch up that head lac, and she's all yours." He hears her say.

"Wait. I-I'll do it."

"Jackson…."

He takes a deep breath, "I have to be the one to do it. You're good, but you'll still leave a faint scar. It has to be me. She doesn't need a scar, faint or not, on her face as a constant reminder of this shitty day. Let me do this."

Everyone steps aside and allows him to get to work. He takes a deep breath and begins working. While he's suturing her laceration most of the doctors go back to work knowing that Maggie is stable and for the most part she'll be fine. The only ones left in the room are Link, Amelia, Korasik, Meredith and himself. From what he can tell, Alex and Ben were still waiting outside though.

When he's done he examines his handy work and gently caresses her face.

"I love you Maggie. So much." He whispers in her ear and then places a kiss on her forehead.

She knew she wasn't welcome here after her last visit but she has no other options. Kate is sitting in the waiting area hoping to see Amelia pass her by. She'd been trying to get information on her whereabouts for the past couple of hours with no luck. Every time she asked they'd just say Dr. Shepherd was busy. She was getting restless, and was about to leave when she looked up and saw Meredith Grey coming straight at her with fire in her eyes. She knows the last time she was here wasn't great but she's confused by the level of Meredith's anger. She stands up, and before she can say or do anything else she's holding her stinging cheek.

"Waiting around to see if you were successful?" Meredith yells at her while Alex Karev holds Meredith back.

"What?" she asks confused with tears in her eyes. And that's when she notices Jackson walking towards them.

"Meredith?" he asks looking back and forth between the two, "what the hell is going on? Kate, what are you doing here?"

"I-" she starts but she's cut off by Meredith.

"Go ahead Kate. Tell him what you did. Tell him why you're here."

"I-I came to see Amelia."

"LIAR! She did it Jackson. Maggie said she was pushed just like I suspected, and Kate did it."

"WHAT? Wait, no. I- Meredith I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't do this. Jackson-" she starts but when she looks into Jackson's eyes she knows she isn't going to get any sympathy from him.

"When did Maggie say—"

"She came to for like 30 seconds before she started hemorrhaging. She said 3 words. What, Jackson and pushed."

He turns towards Kate and for a second Meredith, Ben, and Alex all hold their breath. His eyes turn a shade none of them have ever seen them before.

His voice is low and cold when finally speaks, "I thought I told you to stay away from me, Maggie, and this hospital."

"I know. But Jackson I swear I didn't—"

"AND I'M SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THAT?" Kate jumps back at the boom in his voice, "The love of my life is thrown down a flight of steps on the same day you just happen to be here to see Amelia and I'm supposed to believe you didn't do it. I don't believe in coincidences that big."

"Alright, Jackson. Come on, Maggie needs you. We can go call the cops." Ben says as he pulls Jackson away from Kate.

Kate is crying hysterically now. "Cops? I didn't do this."

As Ben is pulling Jackson away Kate spots Amelia and runs towards her. "Amelia thank God. Tell them that I didn't do this please."

"Woah, woah. Do what? What are you even doing here?" Amelia says confused as she hands her tablet over to the nurse at the desk.

"Amelia, you heard Maggie say she was pushed." Meredith says.

"Yeeeah." She says confused and then, "Wait, you think? No. Kate wouldn't do this. I mean she's a little off but…. Kate no. No, no, no. Why would you do this?"

"I DIDN'T!"

"For Jackson? I mean he's good looking but he's not worth this."

"I didn't do this Amelia. I swear it."

Jackson hears Amelia and Kate going back and forth as Ben pulls him into one of the many conference rooms.

"Look Avery, I know nothing is making any sense right now but you need to rein your temper in."

"Rein my temper in?" he asks incredulously.

"Yes! Maggie is upstairs in a hospital bed. She needs you not to do anything stupid. You need to go up there and sit by her side and talk to her. Sit with her and make sure you're the first thing she sees when she wakes up."

"That was the plan but now…. Now that I know what I know. How am I supposed to look her in the eye and tell her that not only is our baby gone, but it's all my fault? Huh? That the woman obsessed with me was so jealous that she threw her down a flight of stairs. You tell me how I'm supposed to do that."

"You just do it. There's no way around it. You've just gotta go through it man. Just go through it together. You playing the martyr isn't going to help her."

Jackson takes a deep breath then sits back and let's everything Ben said sink in.

"Alright," he gives Ben a dap, "Thanks man. I'm gonna go up and sit with her. Amelia's down here so I'm sure she's in a room now."

"No problem. Call me if you need anything. I'm gonna go find Vic. She should be around here somewhere."

"Vic's here?"

"Yeah. She just came back from Virginia actually. She's been here on a case practically all day, she should be ready to go now."

He nods, "Alright man. I'll see you. Thanks again."

When Jackson gets to Maggie's room Bailey and Richard are sitting with her.

"Hey Jackson. How you holding up?" Bailey greets him.

He shrugs, "Maggie's laying in a hospital bed."

"I called your mom. She'll be here as soon she can." Richard says.

Jackson just nods, takes a seat by Maggie's bedside and grabs her hand.

"How long did Amelia say?"

"3 days should do it. A week the most." Bailey responds. "Did that crazy woman really push her?"

He puts his head in his hands briefly, "I don't even know at this point Bailey. There was something in how vehemently she was denying it. A part of me actually believed her. But she's the only person with a motive. No matter how warped that motive may be."

"Maybe Maggie did trip. She wasn't exactly lucid when she woke up." Richard reasons.

Jackson nods "Maybe."

"We'll give you some time with her." Bailey says as both she and Richard leave the room.

Jackson sat there holding Maggie's hand, silently willing her to heal her brain as quickly as possible.

This was complete shit show. They were supposed to be playing hide and go seek around the hospital all day and having dinner together tonight. He takes the gold rattle out of his pocket and stares at it. This had to be why Maggie was hiding. Sometimes she got so excited about things, she couldn't help but share. She was trying not to ruin her own surprise. That thought makes him chuckle. But his next thought nearly shatters him. He learned he was going to be a father again, and that the baby was gone within the same 10 minute span. If he wasn't so determined to stay strong and be there for Maggie, he'd curl up in a ball and hide for weeks. Maybe months. It was days like this that made him question his new found belief in God and whether or not it was warranted. What kind of God does this? This is the second child he's lost. There has to be something better than this.

"Maggie. Baby I love you so much. We're gonna get through this together, I promise. I'm so sorry. So, so sorry. If what we think happened is actually what happened, this is all on me." he gently climbs into the bed with her, mindful of her broken arm, "I'm here for whatever you need. Whatever you want. I love you. You're perfect for me and I'm going to spend the rest of my life loving you. There isn't anything or anyone that'll change that. I'll be here when you open those pretty brown eyes."

He gently places a kiss on her forehead and within minutes he's fast asleep beside her.

The past 2 days have been hell for him. Even though he knows that Maggie's coma is medically induced, it hasn't changed how worried he is. He hadn't left her side for more than 10 minutes and he wasn't planning on doing so anytime soon. He was heartbroken, angry, irritated, and he felt guilty as hell.

They wouldn't say it but he knew Amelia and Meredith blamed him for all of this. He blamed himself too but he couldn't dwell on that. Not when Maggie was going to need him more than ever. He was dreading telling her everything but he knew he had to. Lying or hiding the truth to protect her wouldn't do anyone any good.

The cops had spoken to Kate but they said they couldn't arrest her because it was all circumstantial he say, she say. They also pointed out that until Maggie woke up, they couldn't be 100% sure this wasn't an accident. And even then, arresting, let alone convicting Kate without evidence would be impossible. He let it go for now because Maggie was his priority, but as soon as she woke up and he had confirmation that she was pushed he'd go to hell and back to make sure Kate paid. There weren't any cameras in the stairwells but he was sure if he checked the footage from the surrounding halls he could at least place her near the stairwell. But again, they'd cross that bridge when they got to it.

Amelia walks into Maggie's room to find Jackson laying beside Maggie. No surprise there. He'd spent every second possible with her. As grateful as Amelia was, she couldn't help but blame Jackson for them being here in the first place. If Kate did this, it was because of her supposed love for Jackson. Bigger than that though, she was sort of blaming herself. Shouldn't she have known her sister was some kind of sociopath? She could reason that they weren't close, they actually hated each other but still. She knew Meredith was blaming her too. Meredith hadn't said one word to her after the confrontation with Kate unless it was professional or about Maggie's health.

"How's our girl today?" she smiled.

He hops out of the bed and takes a seat in the chair by her bedside, "Good, really good. I actually think she may be ready to come out of the coma."

"Well let's see. I just got her scans from this morning back." she says as she places the scans up on the light board and both she and Jackson examine them. "I think you're right Avery. The brain bleed has corrected itself. We're looking at a completely healed and healthy brain."

Jackson smiles, "That's great! I had a feeling but I was nervous."

"Well, no need. We're gonna ween her off the medication and we should be able to see those eyes within the next few hours. I'll check back in a bit."

As she's walking out the sound of Jackson calling her name stops her in her tracks. When she turns to look at him, she knows what question is coming next.

"Amelia, if she—do you-"

"If she asks, tell her. Health wise, she can handle it Jackson."

He nods, "Okay. Thank you."

She rolls her eyes, "She's my sister." And she walks out.

She's beyond excited. What started out as a day just as shitty as the previous 2, turned into the best one she's had all month. In just a few short hours her sister would be awake. And while it excited her, it scared her. Maggie would wake up to find out that not only was her baby gone, but her boyfriend's psycho stalker was the reason why. A psycho stalker that Amelia happened to share blood with. The thought that Maggie, in her grief, wouldn't be able to separate her from Kate terrified her. She couldn't lose her actual sister because of her blood sister whom she hated. She just couldn't.

When she walks into the attendings lounge Meredith is there.

"Um, hey. Maggie's gonna wake up today. We're weening her off the medication as we speak." Amelia said.

Meredith simply nodded and began walking out but Amelia spoke and she froze in place.

"This wasn't my fault Mer!"

Meredith turns around to face Amelia, "Did you hear me say it was?"

"You don't have to. I see it. I feel it radiating off of you. You haven't said a word to me in days unless it was about Maggie's health."

"My baby sister is lying in a hospital bed. She's about to wake up and experience the worst pain she's ever known. So yes, the only thing we talk about is Maggie's health because it's the ONLY thing that matters. Should I giggle and talk about boy drama or whatever while my sister that I love is hurt?"

"SHE'S MY SISTER TOO MEREDITH! I LOVE HER TOO!" Amelia shouts with tears clouding her vision.

"No. Your sister is the one walking around free as a bird after injuring my sister and murdering my niece or nephew. That's your sister." Meredith turns to leave but Amelia grabs her arm and yanks her back.

"HEY! She may be your sister by blood but Maggie and I, we chose each other. We're not just sisters, she's my absolute best friend. If you think for one second that you're gonna try and take that away from me, think again. She and I are closer than you and her ever were, and that's what really kills you isn't it?" Amelia takes a deep breath, "Look, you're entitled to your hurt. You can blame whoever you want, me included. But don't you ever say she isn't my sister or imply that I don't love her." And with the last word, Amelia pushes pass Meredith and leaves the lounge.

A few hours later Jackson is holding Maggie's hand with one hand and going over cases on his tablet with the other when he feels a slight squeeze to his hand and he looks up.

Maggie's eyes flutter open and her hand immediately goes to her stomach. She doesn't know what it is, or if it's even possible but she feels empty. She knew before she even opened her eyes. Her baby is gone. Her baby is gone and there's no getting it back. She slowly turns her head and when blue meets brown Jackson reaches up and strokes her cheek, smiling gently.

"Say it." She croaks out.

Jackson looks away and rises to get Maggie some water but before he can walk away she grabs his wrist.

"Jackson. Say it."

Jackson sits on the side of the bed and grabs Maggie's hand into his. He takes a deep breath and looks her in the eye. "We lost the baby" he whispers.

I'm so sorry guys. I really didn't want to do this. I've been dreading it so much I've pushed it back for 4 chapters. This was originally supposed to happen before the house hunting, but I was really battling with whether or not to do it.

In the end I chose to because I feel like besides her mom's death, the show hasn't really given Maggie any personal stories of her own with any depth. She has some catching up to do on the Grey's Anatomy pain-o-meter, Lol. I really hated to do this to Jackson again, but there's a point to all the pain.

Review, even if it's just to tell me how much you hate me. I can take it, lol.
