KAI

CHAPTER 18: CONFRONTATION

Kai. An extremely rare, extremely powerful Phoenix demon. Tall, around 6'11, Kai has a chiseled jawline with a slight point of his chin, high cheek bones, rounded eyes that are a bright orange with yellow flex about them, pointed demon ears, and dark sun kissed skin. He has long, fiery red hair that goes down to the back of his knees, big broad shoulders, and lean muscles that glisten in sunlight. Tattoos along his body that tell the story of his true form. The colors of red, yellow, and orange with large wings on his back. A fine man Kai is. Kind, caring, and so sweet at heart, but he does have a dark side and sadistic side to him that no one but Sesshomaru knows about.

He's wearing white hakama pants with red and orange flames about them along with a red obi that contained his swords. He stayed shirtless because of his wings. They were a crimson red and much larger than Kai himself as he stood. His wings were 10 feet in length and drug on the ground behind him as he walked. His hair was high on his head in a braided pony tail and had black boots on his feet.

Kai has just arrived back at Menomaru's home and is making his way to the entrance when he is stopped by Menomaru's men at the gate.

"What is your business here, Kai?" One of Menomaru's men asked curiously and Kai just held a thousand-yard stare towards Menomaru who had appeared without saying anything.

"Kai." Menomaru said uninterested.

"Menomaru." Kai said with the same uninterested tone.

"Why are you here, Kai. I do not recall asking for you to be here." Menomaru said, getting straight to the point.

"I am here to warn you, Menomaru...I know that you are up to something and it has something to do with Lord Sesshomaru and his wife. If you continue down this path that you have chosen, you will regret it. You have no idea what he capable of and no one knows what Lady Kagome's powers consist of. Not even Lord Sesshomaru himself knows. You will unleash a wrath that you will wish you hadn't. Menomaru...You and I used to be friends...At least consider my warning." Kai said calmly, trying not to give to much away.

"I may not be as powerful as Sesshomaru, Kai, but I am also a very skilled swords master and I have a very large army. If needed, I will do what I must." Menomaru said flatly.

In an instant, Kai was before Menomaru and flaring his youki around him. He was only an inch from Menomaru's face and bared his fangs to him.

"Is that a threat, Menomaru? Do you really want to continue this path of hatred? Because if you do...I will have no choice but to kill you in front of your family." Kai said with his beast very present, looking to Menomaru's wife and son standing a few feet behind him. Kai leaned in closer, towering over Menomaru with his wings starting to encircle him.

"Trust when I tell you this, I will not hesitate to rip you limb from limb with them watching. Everyone seems to think that I am a peaceful pacifist, but I assure you that I am not. Do you know who Lord Sesshomaru's dungeon master is?" Kai said low in Menomaru's ear and then looked at him sideways with his eyes glowing red, signifying that his Phoenix beast was at the forefront of his mind now.

Menomaru flinched a little at Kai's words but recovered quickly, trying to hide the fact that Kai had just shaken him up a little.

"You do not scare me, Kai. Everyone knows that you have always been a peaceful being. You've never been capable of hurting others. As for your claim to being Sesshomaru's dungeon master, that is a load of horse shit." Menomaru stated.

Before anyone knew what was going on, Kai's Phoenix flared and he had Menomaru's throat in a death grip, his claws digging into his skin, causing blood to flow down to his chest. When Kai's beast finally spoke, he sounded like a dark, mystical being with an ominous echo.

"You are mistaken, Menomaru...My master and I very much enjoy torturing those that have wronged ourselves and those we are loyal too. (Kai brings Menomaru close to his face) You have been warned, Menomaru..." Kai and his beast said as they released him and he fell to the ground with a loud 'thud'. His wife and son were at his side helping him get back up.

"Why did you do that? He hasn't done anything!" His wife, Hina, said with a very angry and challenging tone. Kai just flapped his wings hard towards them and the force sent them all to the ground a few feet away.

"Do not challenge me, Woman. You're husband is not the man he says he is. Maybe you can talk some sense into him before he does something stupid." Kai bellowed before taking off back to Sesshomaru's shiro.

Author's Notes

I know that this chapter is somewhat short. I figured everyone would like to get a good picture of what Kai should look like so I painted him as a tall, fierce warrior who is loyal to Sesshomaru to a fault (in a good way). As far as Menomaru goes, we can all see that he has been blindsided by his hatred for humans and the fact that Sesshomaru is now mated with one, even though she isn't entirely human.
