Chapter 22: Is It Not Obvious?
.
*Ghost Zone*
.
Everyone was a bit disorientated, so spent a few minutes trying to get their bearings, looking around at the strange new sky. It was as if everyone blinked at the same time and as they opened their eyes their surroundings had completely changed. Gone were the red and white walls of the Nasty Burger and in their place was a green swirling sky full of floating purple rocks.
Valerie took in her surroundings, she knew straight away that they were in the Ghost Zone from her times here before. She wondered who else in the group she was with knew where they were, mainly focusing on the two world renowned ghost hunters and creators of a Ghost Portal, hopefully one of them knew the way out of this place because she certainly didn't. Her attention was then removed from the older two Fenton's to focus on their son as he shouted.
"That bitch! She totally did this on purpose!" Shouted Dan as he stomped his foot on the ground kicking up some purple dust from the floating rock he was standing upon. "I'll kill her again for this." he growled ferally, clenching his fists and jaw.
"That witch has no idea who she's messing with. When I find her she's gunna wish she had never been born." Dan was fuming. If he only had Danny's ghost powers he could have sensed her there at the Nasty Burger and could have wished things back to normal. It was his parents fault, if they hadn't shot him with that stupid gun Vlad wouldn't have needed to shut off his powers. It was the Fenton's fault they were all here.
"Where are we?" wondered Jack.
"Is it not obvious?" questioned Dan irritated.
"This is the-" Valerie started to explain before Dan interrupted. He felt closer to his, at the minute non reachable, ghost side being in the Ghost Zone and seeing all the green, it also felt as if he were closer to something to call home having lived in the Ghost Zone for almost half his life.
"Nah nah nah, these two are the professional's when it comes to ghosts, lets let them work it out and tell us." Dan gestured to his 'parents' flamboyantly. "Pray tell dear parents where did that Ghost send us?" Dan asked while indicating to their surroundings.
Everyone in the group looked towards the two hunters.
"The Ghost Zone." Maddie said.
Dan clapped sarcastically before being elbowed in the ribs by Sam.
"Knock it off Dan. You're supposed to be acting like Danny." she whispered through gritted teeth.
"How do you know this isn't how he'd be acting under these circumstances?"
Sam just held her deadpan expression as Dan rolled his eyes.
"We need to find a way out of here." stated Maddie trying to stay calm.
"Do you know the way out?" asked Kwan.
"Why would we know?" asked Jack confused.
"Well you built a portal into this place, haven't you... you know been exploring and stuff in here?" questioned Paulina.
"Uhhhh well we haven't gotten around to it yet. We are still doing tests to see if being here would effect the human body in anyway. To make sure it was safe to go in or if we needed special protection." explained Jack which in turn made everyone bar four students freak out.
"We're gunna be deformed!" shouted Star.
"We're gunna turn into ghosts!" Rebecca panicked.
"We're gunna be eaten by ghosts!" Dan rolled his eyes at Dash's comment. Yes there were some ghosts that would try to eat humans but they would mostly be animal ghosts that weren't people before. He supposed there were probably a few pyscho ghosts that did used to be people that wouldn't be opposed to eating human flesh, even if it was just for the horror factor.
"Calm down people!" shouted Mr Lancer, trying to keep some relative order to the class.
"We're never getting out of this place!" Nate cried which made everyone panic more.
The noise of everybody shouting was starting to get on Dan's nerves. No one was listening to anyone anymore all just screaming in horror.
"Enough! Everybody shut it!" Dan looked over at Sam who had just shouted. "You all need to stop freaking out. We will be fine as long as we are careful."
"Trust the goth freak not to be freaking out." glared Dash.
"All three of you seem awfully calm considering the situation." Mr Lancer commented referring to Dan, Sam and Tucker who were all stood next to each other with their arms crossed in front of them.
"You've been here before haven't you?" queried Valerie after nobody had said anything for a while.
"Yes." sighed Sam after both the boys she hung with looked at her with their eyebrows raised, wondering how to play this out.
"What? How did you even get here?" Maddie interrogated the three teens.
"The Ghost Portal in the basement maybe." Dan stated in a bored tone.
"And you didn't tell us? How long ago? What happened?" asked Jack alarmed.
"Well you know how clumsy Danny can be, when it first activated he was cleaning the lab." replied Tucker.
"And he tripped and fell into the portal." Sam cut in.
"I ended up floating around inside for a while before coming across some friendly and some not so friendly ghosts that eventually helped get me out again." Dan finished off remembering the first time he ever when into the Ghost Zone.
"You seem too comfortable in here for a I came here once and was fine sort of thing." commented Valerie.
"What do you want us to say? We've been in here a hundred times and have mapped out the whole of the Zone?" Dan deadpanned to which Sam stared at him in disbelief and Tucker wanted to facepalm.
"You what young man?!" raged the blue clad woman.
"He's kidding obviously." Tucker chuckled nervously.
*Clockworks Tower*
Cujo suddenly stopped messing about with Danny's cape and stood still sniffing the air, he then bolted out of the tower and towards whatever he had just sniffed out.
"Probably gone to fetch his chew toy." sighed Danny in relief now he didn't have a puppy hanging on his cape and trying to trip him up with every step.
"Something like that." Clockwork smiled at Danny.
*Unknow location in the Ghost Zone*
Dan grimaced at all the shouting and arguing about who should be in charge of getting them all out of this place. He wondered off silently to sit on top of a bolder by the edge of the path they were all on to get away from all the noise. He looked back at the group noting no-one had noticed he'd walked away and whipped out his phone and scrolled through the five numbers he had saved on the phone and called the top person in his contacts with a sigh.
"Hello?" answered a confused ghostly voice after a few rings.
"We have a situation." stated Dan.
"What did you do?!"
"I didn't DO anything. Now where are you?"
"Where do you think? Who's phone are you even calling from?"
"Mine."
"You don't have a-"
"Vlad gave it to me, now shut up and put your video call on. This is going to be easier if you can see what the situation is as you probably wouldn't believe me if I told you." Dan switched the call to video call and on the bottom right corner of his phone saw his young Fenton face staring back at him, the screen on his phone flickered black until the screen showed the image of the fire haired ghost that use to be him.
"What's going on where are Sam and Tucker?" Asked Danny frantically. To which Dan just told him to look for himself as he held up the phone to let the camera scan his surroundings showing a group of people arguing between themselves, green swirling sky above them, purple ground beneath. There was silence on the other end of the phone as Dan waited for a response.
"What happened? How did you all get here?"
"Funny story. You know that ghost you're supposed to be tracking down? Well she was still at the Nasty Burger!" Dan could see Danny wince at his shout through the phone. "And some absolute moron wished to be anywhere else but there so bam, here we are."
"How many of there are you here?"
"Fourteen of us."
"Crap. Okay, don't panic."
"I am not panicking."
"I need to come find you guys and help."
"Yeah great idea, turn up as me, a huge dangerous ghost and offer to help out a group of strangers, that'll work out fantastically...Valerie is one of the fourteen you idiot, she'd shoot you as soon as she saw you, not to mention your parents." glared Dan.
"Careful Dan you almost sound like you care."
"I only care about you not destroying my body before I can get back to it." Dan huffed. "You'll need to find us first and then you'd either have to help at a distance as your parents have weapons and a ghost detector with them or..." Dan trailed off, thinking over a plan.
"You look like your thinking..."
"I am."
"Well don't think too hard." Danny joked.
"Why, afraid your brain can handle it?" smirked Dan. Danny just pouted at his joke backfiring. "If I can get to the ghost detector that your parents have I could deactivate it and then to fix the Valerie problem you can disguise yourself."
"Disguise myself? How? I'm a six foot ghost with glowing fire for hair!"
"One of my powers is shapeshifting, if you can shift like I did when I first came to this time and disguise yourself as your human self, we can get us back to Amity and to Desiree to reverse this mess."
"Won't it be a bit weird having two Danny Fenton's around?"
"Yes, but that's the point. We'll tell everyone one of us is Danny and the other is a ghost that wants to help us get out of here." Dan started.
"But seeing as there are some hostile people in the group the safest way for the ghost to help was to take the form of one of the group to ensure they wouldn't just be shot on sight." Danny finished.
"I'll keep my phones tracker on so you can trace it to our position."
"Okay. And Dan. If anything goes wrong I want you to protect them. I don't care about my secret, if you need to use my powers to save them then do so."
"Couldn't do that, even if I wanted to. Which I don't." explained Dan.
"What?"
"I have no powers. There was an incident last night and so it appears I am without powers for at least the next 24 hours. Better get here fast, or this group is toast. Toodles." Dan smirked leaving a panicking Danny on the other end of the phone. Dan took in a deep breath and sealed himself into what he was going to have to do to get this plan to work once Danny got here.
"Where's Dan?" Sam whispered to Tucker noticing that the body of Danny was gone.
"I thought you were watching him?" spluttered Tucker. They both tried not to panic while looking around the group. They were so caught up in arguing who should be in charge of the group and what way they should start walking neither had noticed Dan had wondered off.
"If you want to get out of here I suggest you all shut up and listen." shouted Dan as he walked back towards the group, glaring. Sam and Tucker sighed in relief.
"There is no way I'm gunna listen to Freaky Fenton to get us out of here. I'll find my own way out." Dash tried to stomp off but was stopped by his teacher.
"You're not going anywhere Mr Baxter we all need to work together to get out here." instructed Mr Lancer.
"It's fine, we have our Fenton Ghost Detector so we can avoid any powerful ghosts and we have weapons to fend off any smaller fry that get in our way." informed Maddie.
"Yeah, if we uh you guys have weapons maybe we can find a ghost and threaten them into telling us how to get out." proposed Valerie.
"That's the spirit." cheered Jack
"Or we could just ask one, without threatening them." suggested Sam.
"Just leave this to the professionals Sam." Jack said referring to himself.
"And you wonder why most of us hate humans." grumbled Dan, crossing his arms across his chest.
