Waluigi's Epilogue (5/5)
Waluig explained, "It starts off with Wario moving to a new neighborhood and trying to pay off loans to his new mansion. Wario took various odd jobs to get by his high living standards. Wario ended up working with the mafia as one of his odd jobs. The mafia were fighting against the ban of video games in general due to the government believing that the design of extreme violence will initiate violence. The government had a recent faction going on between the political parties that made them to a point where they're stepping over boundaries with each other. Wario helped the mafia because he owns WarioWare Inc. and decides that he needs new 'friends' to help him.". Mona and 5-Volt eyes were wide open.
Waluigi took a moment to breathe before continuing, "Wario's relationship with his old friends became cold and distant due to social differences in finance. None of them are on the same financial level as Wario. Wario decides to re-new the relationship before it falls apart and he decides to contact his old friends. However, Wario wasn't sure if his old 'friends' could be proven if they're trustworthy as much as they used to be. Wario hopes that they can spend some quality time together hoping that it doesn't involve him spending too much of his money...", and he took another deep breath.
Mona commented, "Okay…".
5-Volt said, "Go on…".
Waluigi continued, "So, Wario contacted his friends that he hadn't interacted with for a long time. Most of his friends are accepting Wario's approach, but Wario has suspicion on some of his old 'friends' due to the risk of becoming a meal ticket for them. Wario decides to make them meet him at the mall and...he did have most of his old friends at the mall and they're happy to see him. Wario didn't see ALL of his friends around and he suspected something went wrong…".
5-Volt questioned, "What about the idea of trying to repeal the ban of video games with friends?". Mona agreed and nodded.
Waluigi answered, "We'll get there 5-Volt...let me tell the whole story that I've written for Wario World 2.". 5-Volt nodded and Waluigi continued, "Wario is happy that he's able to spend some quality time with his friends at the mall. Since Wario's other friends didn't appear in the mall, he did decide to check on them after all, but with caution due to still having some problems left unresolved the last time they've seen each other. Also, Wario decided not to bring up his problems yet due to still working in the mafia that needed secrecy.".
Mona said, "Let me guess, your characters in Wario's friends are based on us, right?".
5-Volt countered with, "I thought it's based off on the Mario character series…".
Waluigi replied, "It's a mixture of both…I thought it would be better if Wario's characterization had more social skills that can set it apart from Mario and to an extent, the Mario series.".
Both were in awe and Waluigi continued, "Anyway, Wario had met his other old 'friends' later on and...he cut ties with some of them due to Wario's dissatisfaction on their behalf for various reasons. Wario tried his best to make sure that he stayed close with his old friends and closer to the mafia. Later on, Wario's able to persuade all of his friends to fight the ban on video games with the support from the mafia that he got. They fought the ban and they won. The government then unbanned the video games and everyone disbanded the protests.".
5-Volt looked satisfied and said, "Wow...that's a story that Nintendo might never do with the Mario series…".
Mona looked skeptical and commented, "Waluigi...I've heard of this story before from somewhere...don't get me wrong, it's not bad if you're inspired from it though…".
Waluigi nodded back at Mona and he replied, "Well...you've introduced me to the video maker who told this kind of story before...".
Mona and Waluigi nodded at each other and he left off with, "After everyone's disbanded, Wario decided to spend time with his friends and quit working with the mafia. When Wario spent time with his old friends, he noticed that one of them wasn't contacting him all of a sudden. Luckily, Wario has a friend who's a cop that's able to do some investigation. When a cop found a huge piece of evidence, Wario realized that one of his friends is his love interest that was kidnapped by the mafia that he previously worked with.".
Both of them gasped at that and Waluigi stopped for a moment. Waluigi continued, "After he realized that one of his friends was kidnapped, Wario grouped his friends together about the situation and went to a place where he used to work with the mafia and...they're gone. Unfortunately, the mafia leader had sent his goons in an attempt to destroy Wario and his friends. They were able to fight back by obtaining weapons that were used against the goons around. Wario was about to beat up one last group of goons, and the goons had surrendered instead of being killed.".
5-Volt looked puzzled and questioned, "Why did the goons surrender Waluigi?".
Waluigi answered, "They surrendered because the goons that weren't beat up by Wario were the opposition to the mafia leader, thus turning themselves into defectors. They reveal that the mafia leader is a control freak communist militant leader and that they're attempting to do a coup d'etat in this country. Wario, his crew, forced the defectors to find a way of stealing weapons from the damn mafia. They agree as long as they don't receive any harsh punishment at the end.", and Waluigi takes another deep breath for a bit.
Mona and 5-Volt nodded. Waluigi then goes off, "Meanwhile, one of his love interests was held by the leader of the mafia. The love interest tried to fight a way out on her own, but got outnumbered by his other minions and so, they've tied her up. Wario, his crew, and the defectors have found the weapons that they need to arm themselves against the rest of the goons. They've encountered the goons and they fought as if they're on a war battlefield. They won that particular battle thanks to the mafia guerilla's inexperience at a war battlefield when compared to a police officer's experience on the battlefield.".
Waluigi paused for a moment, trying to remember what he wrote. He remembers it and continued, "The cop and the defectors went ahead of the Wario group. They agree that it's for the best due to hoping that they can corner the mafia when they arrive. The cops and defector manage to fight more of the mafia's goons and they're surprised to see the defectors working with them instead of being against them.".
5-Volt interrupted, "Why didn't you name the mafia boss Waluigi?".
Waluigi took offense on this one and said, "Why should I? He's the bad guy. Should I call him Bowser, Mr. X, Syrup, Goodman, Francis, or Wendy as the leader of the mafia? No, it doesn't matter anyway...". 5-Volt looked disappointed at him while Waluigi looked down for a bit. Mona gave Waluigi a nasty glare with her arms crossed and as a result, Waluigi just didn't care.
Waluigi continued, "Anyway, one of the defectors had ended up fighting the mob boss while the cop and the other defectors fought the other mafia's henchmen. The cop manages to free Wario's love interest and they both fight the henchmen. It was a failure because the mob boss managed to tie all of them up before Wario and his crew arrived at the base.".
Mona then thought, "Yup, I've definitely heard of that story before...I think it's from a Mario fan-made anime that involved Splatoon? I dunno...it's been a long time since I've seen a story develop like that...", and she nodded.
Waluigi left off at, "When Wario and his crew arrived at his base, they saw the cop, his love interest, and the defectors being tied up. The mafia boss explains that the group wanted to take over the government and run it. Wario was given a second chance to join the mafia again for the sake of being rich, but Wario absolutely refuses to. The cop successfully un-tie themselves and defeated the mafia's henchmen. Then, one of the henchmen killed that cop...and his love interest cried out to Wario and his crew...".
Both of them gasped at that. Mona in particular remembered, "Oh my god...Now I remember what kind of Mario fan-made arc that I've seen on YouTube! It's an arc that involves anime!", and she realizes that she still has a subscription to that particular YouTuber, but only watches that YouTuber once in a while.
Waluigi then continued, "The mafia leader then get on the jetpack and armed with weapons, ready to murder Wario and his crew. Wario suddenly felt hungry and he ate a very nasty garlic in his pocket, turning himself into Wario-man. Wario-man then proceeds to fly and throw a punch at the mafia leader. They both fought each other with fists and Wario-man ended up knocking out the leader. Everyone cheered and they heard that the army was coming and Wario-man managed to get everyone out of the government building safely where the mafia resistance had surrendered to the government troops.".
Waluigi tried to remember the ending and then he said, "After the attempted coup by the mafia, they were at the military-style funeral to honor the fallen cop. Wario's love interest ended up mourning the most due to the cop's heroic attempts of saving her. Wario and his tried his best to comfort her, he successfully did it, and then they comforted each other. The government then thanked them by giving Wario's financial incentives not only to him, but to the rest of his crew and the company that he owns. The government also acknowledges its flaws and the need to work together to fix certain problems along the way without too much delay. The military band plays the ending of MGS3 to honor the cop and the heroes who've fallen to the mafia. The story ends with Wario-man deciding to fly away...".
5-Volt looked very astonished while Mona looked slightly disappointed after remembering a very similar story that she'd seen on YouTube before.
5-Volt commented, "Wow...the story that you've written...that's definitely one of those things that Nintendo would NOT do to their Mario series...this could stand out from that alone! Tell me that Wario has accepted THAT story!", and she happily smiled.
Mona also commented, "I've seen that in Mario fan-made videos before...Wario isn't exactly that open to a darker idea. Wario doesn't want to alienate Mario fans, he just wants to convert them. Although to be fair, this is something that Nintendo DEFINITELY wouldn't want to do with the Mario series, especially when you considered that Mario didn't marry Peach at the end of Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch...anyway, did Wario accept the idea Waluigi?".
Waluigi trailed off, "Well…".
"After I suggested that idea to Wario, we've argued over this. Wario really didn't like how it turned out and I argue that he needs to take risks on his IP if he wants to stand out from the Mario series in the long run. Wario then literally grabbed me and threw me outside of the building while yelling, 'Get outta here and don't come back until you're competent enough!'. I was furious at him because this was the last straw that broke the camel's back. I had enough of Wario's ineffective decision to be a better game company than Nintendo will ever be. He doesn't want to change that plan...stupid Wario, doesn't want to make new fans...", explained Waluigi.
5-Volt looked shocked and said, "I was wondering back then why you were thrown out at the WarioWare of European Headquarters…It all makes sense now...Wario really just wants to convert the Nintendo fanbase and turn it into his own fanbase...it would've been a lot easier to bring in new fans than to convert an existing fanbase...".
Mona agreed and added, "I thought you're trying to get a raise from Wario even though you get bonuses when a developed game sells well...I guess now I know that Wario wasn't as open minded as he used to be. I get it, he's following the ideas of a famous Nintendo developer, but the developer's age has caught up to him and as a result...the lore of the Mario series will always leave open-ended and often, the fanbase gets hostile over it...I do wish Wario would learn from that and prevent the fanbase from interpreting the lore too liberally.".
5-Volt then commented, "Yeah, just like you and your policy…".
Mona angrily exclaimed, "Hey! You just have to be like that, don't ya 5-Volt? You and your old-fashioned rules…". Both of them fiercely argue with each other over their enforcement in one of the many company policies that WarioWare of America has that needed to be done with their goals.
Waluigi exclaimed, "ENOUGH! I had it with you two bickering over company policies and the two of you don't think that's enough?! Please, I tried my best to enforce it and I just invited you two here to make sure that you two can be a team, is that clear?!". Both of them answered yes and apologized to Waluigi and he accepted it like usual.
Waluigi looked at the clock and he added, "Now, since I've already explained about why I don't trust Wario, it's time for us to go home.". The duo nodded and Waluigi returned the gesture.
5-Volt left the room quickly and Mona packed up. Before she leaves, she asks, "Hey, Waluigi? About your story…did you borrow an idea from a YouTube playlist that has the Anime Arc for your story?".
Waluigi sighs and admits, "Yep, I certainly did...I tried to be open-minded of fans interpreting the Mario series as a whole...and this was one of them…I love how it's more than just a kidnapping, it's testing friendships whenever someone's in danger that made me inspire from it.".
Mona nodded and decided to ask one more question, "Waluigi...are you a fan of that YouTuber?".
Waluigi answered, "Yeah! I actually like that YouTuber, especially the Wario & Waluigi series that he's done. I especially love the part where Wario was pretending to be Daisy for a moment and the resulting portion of it is that Daisy got a giant angry head towards Wario and he screams like crazy in a golf video!", and both of them laugh at that moment.
Waluigi then claps back with that question, "Are you...still a fan of him too? I know he changed a lot when comparing his early years to his later years...".
Mona nodded and added, "Yeah...the early years of that YouTuber...I was inspired by him playing some games and at the end of the video, he played 'WarioDate!'. He managed to get Bowser into loving Wario and as a result, he looked like he got a heart attack at the end of the video... ", and they both laugh at that.
Mona continued, "Well after that video, I've managed to download that game and email it to Wario...and you know what happens next...I've regretted doing that since then...", and she looked quite miserable when remembering the time that she sent an email to Wario.
Waluigi looked really shocked and said, "Wait...you're the one who sent an email to him with that ugly dating game?! Oh my god! Out of all the reasons you would have sent Wario that email, what's with that particular inspiration that made you send that email to Wario?".
Mona sighs and explains, "I wanted to know if Wario's would react the way I intended to and that was the case when he reacted with disgust. I did find that funny, but I didn't think he would end up with Ashley as a result from that…".
Waluigi shaked his head in disbelief and said, "No wonder Wario went out with Ashley...I thought you got screwed over by Wario, but now I realized that you screw yourself over...Mona, what was the point of doing that besides being influenced by a YouTuber?!".
Mona answered, "The point that I tried to do was to answer a question that the Mushroom Kingdom wouldn't answer: Does the Mushroom Kingdom Elites ever have a sense of humor in public besides you and Wario?".
Waluigi thought about it and answered with, "...Good point Mona. The YouTuber who makes Mario fan-made videos have more humor and personality in it than the Mushroom Kingdom Elites themselves as far as I'm concerned…". Mona agreed with him on that matter.
Waluigi then said, "Mona...I wanted to say thank you for coming in today...I'm grateful that I'm allowed to talk about this while still being under the NDA. I'm just glad that I've let out my frustration without having 'video game journalists' be involved in this mess…I fear that there's going to be a lot of misinterpretations of the situation that I'm having. Besides, the security that we have does a good job of keeping company's secrets safe…"
Mona happily replied, "You're welcome Waluigi! I'm just glad that I understood why you have certain issues in the company nowadays…"
Waluigi said, "Yeah...the WarioWare of America has its issues that I wish I could address to my fans, but as I stated before, I signed the NDA. I wish 5-Volt would've stayed until the end though. I just want to thank her for her time too. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be going home.", and Waluigi packs up his things.
Mona said her goodbyes and Waluigi returned that gesture. She left the office in WarioWare of America. What they didn't know is that 5-Volt is still inside the building, listening to the conversation and trying to come up with a new policy, a policy that adds more enforcement for more rules at WarioWare of America...
Mona turned on her moped scooter and she drove off while thinking, "Great...I'm lucky that I got out on time...I have another part-job that I MUST do to survive...I can't believe I have that job…".
Mona is still driving to one of her other workplace and her continuing thought goes, "Waluigi decided to get inspiration from that youtuber alone...while I do love the Anime Arc itself, I don't like how Waluigi is ripping off from that...to be fair, Wario did reject Waluigi for a different reason, but I do wish that he would've allowed Waluigi to improve his writing at least…", and she focused on getting to another workplace.
When she went there, she went inside an abandoned factory where there's a few gatherings here and there. One of her bosses greeted Mona with, "Hi Mona!". Her boss looked excited to see her once again and hugged Mona.
Mona returned, "Hi Daisy...how are you?". Mona isn't too excited to see her, but knows how important it is to engage with one of her bosses. Mona felt quite awkward about being hugged and Mona's face became slightly red.
Daisy replied, "I'm feeling great, and you?", and she lets go of her immediately.
Mona answered, "I'm fine. I've just got back from a meeting recently. It's just game development, that's all.".
Daisy commented, "That's good. Hey, I need to know how much progress was made on a new operating system and if you can get it done by today? I don't want to keep those Koopa Guerilla Brigades waiting for too long to get a non-governmental OS software working on their 'Obama Phones'. They fear that the government might have tapped into their cellphones...".
Mona thinked about it and said, "I'll be honest, if I can be lucky enough to get it working by today, then we should probably have it by tomorrow to be able to install the new software into the 'Obama Phones' that those workers have. Otherwise, I need a few more days to make sure the software really runs on it. I don't want the government to know about it either.".
Daisy pats on her back and replies, "Good for you Mona! I don't want our boss Arisu to be facing paranoia and frustration everyday just so she could avoid the detection from the Federal Bureau Investigation and the Central Intelligence Agency or else we get our fingers chopped.".
Suddenly, Arisu overheard what Daisy said. She came into the room and added in a menacing tone, "Neither do the questionable immigrants that worked here too. Just do your best and we'll pay you normally, okay? The Yakuza cannot wait for too long…", and Arisu left the room quietly. Daisy left the room while humming to the tune of Birabuto Kingdom.
Mona sighs and she goes to the computer room where it's revealed that the Wii U and the Windows laptop were on her desk. "Guess I'll be making sure that I can stay overtime for the sake of getting it to work...thank goodness I got paid a bit more respectfully than the one I've currently worked at...at least I have control with a new operating system that I'll be making…", and she started to work on her hacking skills for the rest of the day…
To be continued in "Operation: Triple-Seven" Arc...
