A/N

Book 1 for the Yogscast is just about done. Since I'm on such a roll, I might post the second book relatively soon. Working title is "Welcome to Yoglabs." I think you can guess what/where it'll be.

On another note, I kind of want to know what you think of the two series thus far. Obviously, this series is young but I think you might be able to see the overarching theme for this one, and just like the Sky Army, there will be a hidden bad guy throughout (spoilers!). Anyway, I'd like to know: What questions do you still have for the either series? What lore would you like explored? Are there other Youtubers you'd like to see?

Chapter 18: New Start

Ben was eagerly waiting for me when I arrived at base. He could hardly contain his excitement when he ushered me through the halls. While he was overjoyed at the sight of Lewis talking with what appeared to be a frog hybrid in a detective's hat, I had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. Nonetheless, I faked a smile as we approached.

"Thanks, Ben," Lewis welcomed, patting the shark on the back.

"No problem!" cheered Ben. He waved to the frog. "Hey Zylus."

"Sup, Ben," the frog nodded.

"I'll leave you to it!" Ben hummed, wandering off.

"Now," Lewis declared, clapping his hands together, "we're all here, we can get started!"

"Started? With what?" I whimpered.

"Our new division," winked Lewis, entering the room.

"This is gonna be fun," Zylus added, following.

The room itself was rather quaint. It wasn't too big or small, had a few tables and desks, a coffee maker in the back, a window looking outside, a few posters and cork boards. There were very few people sitting about chatting, none bothering to look up as we entered. Lewis lingered in the doorway, removing a cover from the newly installed plaque. Investigative Division.

"After recent events, I figured it was about time we had a specialized division to stop these things from going too far," Lewis explained. "If we had properly investigated these possessions, we likely would've Mary out sooner and saved you from dealing with it."

"There's plenty of other weird things that happen around here," Zylus chimed in. "It'll be fun to get to the bottom of some of 'em."

"And, Ms. Morgan," Lewis leaned in toward me. "Since you have a knack for investigating and a habit of falling into trouble, I figured there's no better place for you than here."

I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted. Habit of falling into trouble. It was only the one mild magic spell and kidnapping. Oh, Lord, did I really just think that everything that happened yesterday was some mild event?

"This is Zylus," Lewis continued, gesturing to the frog. "He's volunteered to oversee the new division."

"Number one detective, ba-by!" Zylus hummed, pointing both thumbs to himself.

"Things are just starting out here, so there shouldn't be too much on your plate to start," Lewis nodded, looking back to me. "So, you'll still have to take some of those gen. ed. classes, after all."

"They'll likely just send you to Yoglabs and call it good," shrugged Zylus, walking through the room.

"Ms. Morgan?"

I turned to Lewis. His smile had faded, and he looked to me solemnly. He placed a hand on my arm.

"I know yesterday was hard, and I understand you'll need time to process it, but we need to discuss what happened during your time with Mary."

"I didn't say anything, if that's what you're worried about."

"I know you didn't. I'm more concerned about what she might have said to you."

Like how you possess some sort of ancient enchantment that drove her made? I bit my tongue, trying hard not to be completely honest with him. I wasn't sure what was the truth or who I could trust anymore. I couldn't be completely silent though. He knows she said something.

"She said…some was possessed powerful magic," I offered. That part was the truth at least.

Lewis opened his mouth slightly, looking away a moment. He closed his mouth, furrowed his brow. Was Mary telling the truth about him? What was he hiding? He quickly looked back to me with a smile.

"Well, Rythian does have some powerful stuff up his sleeves."

"She said…it wasn't a user of magic, but some enchanted with it."

He frowned again. His grip tightened slightly, before relaxing.

"Did she say who?"

Yes.

"No."

"I guess that's why she was trying so hard to get in," he nodded, letting me go.

"Right."

"Take care of yourself," he prompted, heading out the door. "And if you remember anything else about what she said, don't hesitate to reach out."

I watched him leave and finally, the sinking feeling left. I stared at the door. I don't know if keeping the truth from Lewis was the right choice or not. I'm just not sure what to believe. Based on his response to what I did say, it seemed like Mary gave at least a grain of truth. Lewis definitely knew more than he was letting on.
