"Thanks for the treat Momo." Tsu says as the group relaxes in a park not far from Ochako's favorite Mochi stall.
"We all needed to recuperate after today's festival." Momo says, "And I promised Ochako after our match."
"Speaking of the tournament, you top 3 all counter each other perfectly don't you." Tsu says
"Yes and no." Izuku says, "while right now, Momo beat Ochako who should beat me, with time I should be able to keep Ochako at bay with the wind of my smashes, while Momo may learn a weakness to my glass and Ochako can gain more control over her quirk and experience fighting and so overpower Momo's defense."
"A few ifs there but I agree." Momo says, "but I'll add that my quirk isn't the best or fighting and with training more combat oriented quirks will always beat me."
"I don't know." Ochako says nervously, "I feel that I got lucky with all of my wins, I don't think I will do so well again."
"Don't sell yourself short Ochako." Tsu says.
"Yeah, luck is very important for a hero, and don't underestimate how much improvement some training will do." Izuku says.
"Thanks guys." Ochako says, "So, you mentioned more control over my quirk; you mean more than just my nausea right?"
"Of course," Izuku begins, pausing to consider his answer, "right now you 'remove gravity' from what you touch, but it also somehow removes kinetic energy like when you stopped me from falling on my face. If I had only lost my gravity I would have kept falling even with air resistance."
"And?" Ochako asks as Izuku pauses again.
"If you can remove kinetic energy, can you give it back? Is that the reason for your nausea? Are you storing that energy inside yourself? If you could somehow drastically increase your maneuverability you would be near impossible to beat."
"I've never considered any of that." Ochako says, "We should definitely continue our group training sessions so we can try all these things."
"And have Iida join us again, his absence has been unfortunate." Momo says.
"Speaking of Iida, has he contacted any of us about his family emergency?" Izuku asks.
"No, he hasn't." Tsu says, the others shaking their heads.
"We'll have to talk to him before our next homeroom." Momo says.
And with that the group talked about minor details of the tournament and their quirks until it was time to go home.
"Tsu, Ochako before you go, did you both say 'oh no' right before I transformed during my fight with Iida." Izuku asks.
"Yes, we did. How did you know?" Ochako replies.
"I heard you somehow, and it gave me the energy to transform."
"That's weird." Tsu croaks.
"You are really like the Kool Aid Man from the old ads then." Ochako says. "He often arrived despite there being no realistic way for him to hear."
"We will have to test this as well." Momo says as her ride arrives.
"Later though, it's late and we are all tired from the festival." Izuku says as Momo and Tsu, who lived in the same direction, got into the car.
"Indeed, good night everyone." Momo says through the open rear window.
"Good night!" Izuku and Ochako say waving them off.
"Tenya, how are you doing." Izuku says as he arrives in the classroom.
"I'm fine." Iida replies curtly
"How's your brother doing." Izuku says, having seen the hero news.
"..."
"Not well then." Tsu says, entering the classroom with Ochako
"Is there anything we can do to help?" Izuku asks.
"No, there is not" Iida replies.
"Well if you ever need to talk about it." Ochako says.
"That's not what I meant, though we will listen if you want to." Izuku begins. "I mean with your brother's health, my juice has a healing factor after all."
"I doubt it could heal a spine." Iida mutters.
"It might be able to." Izuku says, having barely heard Iidas voice.
"That's not likely the finest healing quirks can't heal such an injury." Iida replies, growing frustrated with this conversation.
"Well, the finest healing quirks couldn't regrow Al... I mean my acquaintances' stomach and lung, but over a year my juice did."
"It did!" Momo shouts, having stood up from her seat as the conversation started.
Izuku jumps as he had not noticed Momo standing behind him, "Ah uh eh... yes... with a drink a day the man's organs slowly regrew, almost as good as new, he still needs a few months of treatment."
"So my brother might be able to keep working as a hero?" Iida asks.
"It may take time, but probably." Izuku replies, "I can fill up a cooler or something once a week for you to take to him if that's convenient."
"Thank you very much!" Iida says, leaping from his seat into a perfect dogeza.
"Stand up please, it's just what any hero would do." Izuku says
"It's more than that Izuku, most would not bother with such a thing." Todoroki adds, having listened in to the conversation.
"It would be unheroic not to help a friend though." Izuku says.
The sound of Aizawa entering the class quickly brought an end to the conversation as everyone leapt to their seats.
"Good to know you are all becoming more rational." Aizawa says as everyone enters their seats within seconds of his entrance. "More importantly we have a special hero informatics course today."
The class suddenly grew nervous, expecting a quiz.
"Code names." Aizawa says, turning the tension into excitement.
Suddenly the door slams open and Bakugo slouches into the room.
"Where have you been." Aizawa says, "absence after the festival and tardiness now, if this class wasn't so important I would send you to the principle, as it is you're coming with me after homeroom."
"Tsk." Bakugo replies
With most of the students choosing acceptable names only Iida, Izuku and Bakugo remained, the latter having chosen a rather inappropriate name and still working on his.
Iida walks to the front of the class. "Ingenium Jr."
"Naming yourself after your brother, are you sure you can handle that burden?" Midnight asks.
"I will do my best!" Iida announces.
"Midoriya are you ready?" Midnight asks as Iida returns to his seat.
"Yes I am." Izuku says walking to the front of the class.
"Kool Aid Man, K.A.M" Izuku says.
"Even if it is your quirk, that's copyright you know." Midnight says.
"I know." Izuku says, handing her a stack of papers.
The day after the festival, in the Midoriya's living room, a pair of men in suits sit across from Izuku and his mother.
"Your quirk is quite similar to our brands mascot, so we want to make a deal." A man says.
"I won't do any adverts or promotions before I graduate." Izuku replies instantly.
The man chuckles, "No no no, we wouldn't drag you from your studies, but we can give you the rights to use our trademarks, in exchange for a future sponsorship."
"Let us bring the contract to a lawyer then we'll come back to you." Inko says.
"Thanks for lending your families legal team on such short notice Momo." Izuku says over the phone.
"It's no problem Izuku, I wouldn't want you dragged into some shady deal." Momo replies.
"So full rights to use the name." Midnight says, reading the paper work. "You went all out on this hmm, I like that."
"It's just a coincidence, I just happened to have it on me." Izuku replies.
"Well, there it is then, Kool Aid Man! Kam!" Midnight says.
"Kam!" several members of the class yell.
"It's K.A.M!" Izuku shouts, but his mind was in high spirits as he finally felt like he truly belonged, the nervous boy embarrassed by his own quirk was mostly gone now, and in his place is the hero that would change the world, one broken wall at a time.
AN: and if you didn't notice from that last sentence that's the end of this part. Additional adventures of K.A.M will come in another story.
Firstly K.A.M came from a video called 'Could Kool-Aid Man Break Through a Wall?' on youtube by Vsauce3. And while fictional Izuku has the rights to the name, I most certainly do not, hence the strange title.
As this is the end of my first fic I would like to write some thoughts and explanations here. I may add more to my profile if I have more to say.
First my reason to cut it off here: the story has diverged from canon and I simply can't write in the same manner as I have without significant storyboarding and planning. My sequel of sorts will be a collection of one-shots and omake's with little connection to each other that may even conflict with a coherent storyline. As an example I can't have a fight with Stain if I continue since it would be out of character for Izuku to not help heal Iida's brother and so it would be stupid for Iida to go out for revenge.
I would like to write what I want instead of having the constraints of a linear plotline. I spoke at length on these challenges with my sister (who is far more qualified than I in the art of writing) and I decided to go with an episodic format.
This will also free me from cliffhangers so I don't have to force myself to finish an arc (like the tournament), And burn myself out; instead I can write other things like oneshots...
Well, that's all the rambling I will do here, thanks for reading and I hope to see you all in another one.
