Hey guys so I originally thought of this chapter during my revisions but didn't post it since I had a better idea. I'm still trying to work on the next chapter but its slower than I would like it to be. So I do hope you guys enjoy this filler type of episode.

Note! Important please read before reading!

So this takes place before the beach trip that the gang took, like before Iris found out about Seto's ex-girlfriend. At the time I didn't think this would really tie in with how the story was going and how I wanted it to go, but I do feel bad that I haven't posted anything for a bit so I do hope you guys enjoy please leave a review on what you thought!

I promise I'll try my best to get the next chapter posted, but potentially I might do an additional filler chapter here and there since those actually have more work done than the official chapter I'm working on. I hope you guys understand and appreciate these little bits, it's still been very hard for my friends and I with everything going on.

I love you guys, without your support and respect for this story I don't think I'd be able to continue it. So I'd like to thank you guys once again, anyway let's get one with the filler chapter!

Iris looked down at her phone, taking a deep breath she slipped it into the back pocket of her black jeans.

This was a rare day.

It wasn't long before sunset. Kaiba had been kind enough to give her the remainder of her shift off after she finished all of her reports. Something she would never imagine him ever doing, he didn't even give her a reason why. She paced around her apartment. All of her friends were busy and working, her mind started to wonder what she would do for the rest of her day. Normally they would all get together at the last minute, but today was the day that no one other than her had any free time.

Looking in her mirror, Iris touched up the liquid blue eyeshadow as she added some regular blue glitter shadow on top. Drawing on her liner, she ten ran her mascara brush through her lashes. Shaking her head, Iris didn't even know why she even bothered putting her makeup on. It's not like she was going to be going out with anyone today. "I guess it'll have to do."

Grabbing her leather jacket, she slipped over her light blue top. Placing the strap of her purse over her shoulder, Iris walked out of her apartment. She had no idea where she was gonna go or what she was gonna do. But anything was better than her just staying home today.

"Maybe I'll go check out that new boutique downtown," Iris said to herself. "I might be able to find some new accessories and shirts for work." she said.

Work.

Iris shook her head. Besides Kaiba giving her the remainder of the day off, she couldn't help but notice that he was being nice to her today. Like genuinely nice. He didn't try anything with her, or getting in her personal space, he wasn't even as sarcastic. It was peculiar. It was like he was a whole different person. It wasn't like he said anything romantic to her or complimented her, but he just treated her so differently than he usually did.

Walking down the steps, she could feel her phone vibrating in her back pocket. Bringing it up to her ear, stopping at the end of the steps. "Hello?"

It was a moment before he heard his voice, "you going somewhere?" she could hear Kaiba's voice question her, as she looked around only to see his car parked along the side of the road. Iris could feel her heart flutter, the thought of him being her made her feel light headed as she could feel the joy within her starting to overwhelm her senses.

"Calm down Iris…." she thought to herself, regaining her composure. "Maybe he's just here to try and pull something, he's been acting way too nice."

"Well?"

"What are you-?"

"Are you just gonna stand there or are you going to get in?" he cut her off, hanging up the phone.

Iris stared at his car as she couldn't begin to understand why he was here. She knew that he had a busy schedule today, and yet for some reason here he was. Just sitting in his car, waiting for her to get in. "Just what is he planning?" she questioned to herself as she made her way to his car. Opening the door, she sat in the passenger seat. "Just why the hell are you here?"

She could see the smirk on his face, "you'll find out." he told her, as he took off down the road. Iris had no idea where he was going, as they started passing by unfamiliar buildings and places. In all her time in Domino she had yet to really see everything that lived within the large city. "I'm actually surprised, I thought those dweebs would have already flocked to your door after I left you go home."

Clenching her fist, "seriously!? Must you always refer to my friends that way." It was annoying to her that he would always call them that. "Now this is the Kaiba I know." Iris tried to hide her smile as the familiarity of his attitude was somewhat humbling. Taking a deep breath, Iris put her phone in her purse; crossing her arms in front of her chest. "For your information they're all busy working."

Taking a sharp turn, Kaiba chuckled. "I see, so I guess it's a good thing I showed up when I did."

"Yea but unlike it's a blessing, it's a curse." Iris whispered to herself. Of all people to be with today, he decided to show up and make her accompany him. "So much for having some time away from him." she thought to herself, trying to repress any feelings that arose.

"I think you'll like what I have in mind for you." he said to her. The sound of the engine revving screeched outside of the car as they took off down the road.

Holding onto the handle of the side door, Iris braced herself as they started driving down a twisty road. There were hardly any other cars on the road, as he barely slowed down. Despite riding with him numerous times, she still hadn't gotten quite used to his driving. "Could you at least slow down!" Iris shouted, closing her eyes. Her heart pounding against her chest, here she was riding in the car with the last person she'd want to be with right now going to a mysterious destination that he didn't even mention.

Feeling the car come to a stop, Iris slowly opened her eyes as she could see that they were parked in front of the Domino Aquarium. "Why are we-?" before she could even finish her question, Kaiba stepped out of the car. Iris soon followed as Kaiba began leading the way towards the large concrete building. "Why did you bring me here?" she asked him, running up to him.

"You'll see."

Iris huffed, "what exactly are you planning?" Iris could see a couple of Kaiba's personal guards standing outside of the glass doors. Grabbing the metal doors, they opened the doors for them as they walked inside. Looking around, there didn't appear to be anyone there besides them. It was all strange to her, "something smells fishy, and it's not the fish."

"Clever choice of word play Primrose, now follow me." Kaiba commanded. Iris stuck close by his side as they walked past many of the various fish and aquatic life that lived within the clear glass tanks and walls. So many different varieties that she had never seen before or even heard of, her blue eyes filled with curiosity. It was strange not to see anyone there besides them; most of the time this place was packed with so many groups of people that it was nearly impossible for her to admire the beings that lived within the depths of the mysterious deep blue.

Stopping at a few different tanks, she was able to gaze upon the beauty of the creatures within the glass aquariums. To see the intriguing and intricate patterns that adorned their bodies and gills; the long and sharp fins and spikes that were attached to their oblong bodies. The way their large dark eyes reflected her image in them, as they too appeared to be as curious about her as she was about them. Hearing Kaiba chuckle, Iris turned her attention to him. "What's so funny?"

Crossing his arms, "I'm just surprised that a bunch of fish can have you mesmerized."

Shaking her head, "well sorry, it's not my fault that I'm curious about them or their habits." she replied back to him giggling. "You still haven't told me why we're here." she mentioned to him, as they approached a sectioned off area of the aquarium. A couple more of Kaiba's guards stood close by the black ropes blocking off access to a set of metal doors that appeared to be locked shut. Looking over at the sign next to the doors, Iris's eyes widened in shock. "No way…" she whispered.

Her eyes re-read the sign over and over again, 'Domino's First Underwater Tunnel! Opening soon!'

It wasn't supposed to be open to the public for another week. She remembered talking to Tea about it before she left to go back to New York and even Kaya recently. It was said to be about a mile and a half long, it would be the first underwater tunnel in Domino. Iris had tried to talk to her other friends about going to it, but none seem to have much interest in it, unlike her. She had planned to go sometime after it had opened up, once it seemed like the general public wouldn't be over crowding it.

"Open the doors." Kaiba snapped his fingers, his guards unlocked the large metal doors pushing them open.

"We're going inside!?" Iris asked, "it's not supposed to be open for another week." She knew she shouldn't be surprised, it was Kaiba she was with; most of the time he could do just about anything. Though this, this is what truly shocked her. "How did you get access?"

"I've been hearing you talk about this thing for weeks, I just wanted to see for myself if it's really all it's cracked up to be." he told her. Looking inside they could see the light from the sun beaming down into the tunnel, the waves above made the patterns of light dance along the concrete floors.

Taking a few steps inside, Iris could feel the change in temperature as she slowly looked around. A few stray fish approached the curved glass for a moment before briskly swimming again in the dark blue waters ahead. As they walked deeper into the tunnel, more and more shoals of fish swimming together, some stayed within view with others dispersed.

Going a bit farther, the lights along the floor began to illuminate filling the tunnel with a soft golden glow. He stayed a few steps behind her, watching her. The joy in her eyes as she looked out into the blue waters, the way she danced almost from one side to the other to look at the abundance of coral and plants that swayed with the ocean currents. The soft glimmer of light that framed her face, making her eyes glow. He could hear her voice sing in joy at the sights before her, the way she would jump in excitement over every little detail and sight.

She looked so happy, so carefree. Kaiba couldn't hold back his smile.

"Kaiba, look!" Walking up to her, he looked in the direction she was pointing in. A couple of dolphins were swimming closeby the outside of the tunnel, as if they were trying to guide them to the end. Continuing along, they entered into the large space at the end of the tunnel. The circular space was lined with white leather seats along the walls, as a few more dolphins started to appear. "This is amazing." he heard her say in a hushed tone.

"It's pretty nice," Iris heard Kaiba speak. Feeling him standing next to her, her eyes focused on the reflection in the glass. He stood just a little over a foot taller than her, as she could see that he too was taking in the sights around them. Studying everything around them. Iris could feel his hand on her shoulder, taking her eyes off of their reflection she could see what he was looking at as a large stingray swam overhead, casting a thin shadow above them for a brief second.

"Wow," there were no other words to describe it. Everything around them was beautifully breathtaking. Focusing her attention back to Kaiba, Iris placed her hand over her chest just where her heart was. The way he seemed to be enjoying himself, how relaxed he was, made her heart beat faster. "He listened to what I was saying…. He brought me here, because of him we're the first two people to be in this thing." thinking to herself. Feeling a pain in her heart, "I can't believe I didn't ask him to accompany me earlier, I feel sort of bad." Iris didn't even think about it. "Ok spill it," her voice echoed in the space. "Why are you doing this?"

"Can't I do something nice for you?" Iris could hear the sarcasm in his voice.

"Not without something in return." she retorted, even though it was thoughtful, it was Kaiba she was dealing with. "What are you planning?" Looking past the waters, Iris could see the blue waters starting to take on the bright shades of orange and pink from the skies as the sun was starting to set. The space started to fill with those same shades, as Iris could feel things change from peaceful to almost romantic like vibe.

Taking a step towards her, Kaiba placed his hand upon her face as she could feel her cheeks burning from the deep shade of red blush on them. "I'm not planning anything," he said to her, his thumb gently caressing her bottom lip. "But there is something else I wanted you to see." he told her. Making his way back up, Iris stood there as she placed her hand on her face.

"You're planning something, Kaiba." Iris knew that there was something brewing in that devious mind of his. Though despite what he could be planning, part of Iris felt relieved that she was spending genuine time with him outside of work. Realizing how far ahead Kaiba was, "hey wait for me!" Running towards him, Iris caught up to him.

He didn't say anything to her as they left the aquarium; approaching his car Kaiba grabbed the handle of the passenger side door, pulling it open. Iris smiled as she quickly got inside as he shut the door as soon as she was seated. Iris couldn't help but feel happy about such a small gesture like that, but he had never done that for her before.

Getting inside of his car, Kaiba looked over at her. His eyes could see the cheerful look in her eyes, the corners of her mouth pulling in a faint smile. "You look happy."

Snapping out of her trance, "thanks for bringing me here, I really do mean it." she thanked him, "I've wanted to see that since I first heard about it, to be honest I was just going to wait until after it had been open for awhile before seeing it myself."

Kaiba smirked, "I'm just glad it was actually worth my time."

Iris rolled her eyes at his response. "You can drop the seriousness, you have to admit it's pretty cool." lightly punching his arm, Iris laughed. "Either way you still haven't told me why you brought me here."

Starting the car, Kaiba started driving down the road. "I'll tell you when we get to our next destination."

"Next?" Iris began to question where else he was taking her, as they drove along the desolate road for nearly an hour. She wanted to integrate him more, figure out what he was planning, but she didn't. In her mind, she decided it was best for him to just show her rather than her question him.

The sun was setting fast, darkness filled the once vibrant sky. Numerous stars dotted the inky black sky, as the crescent moon illuminated the road. Driving up the steep incline of the road, Kaiba slowed down the car. They had arrived. Looking around, Iris could see a few thin trees sparsely laid out where they were; through the darkness she could see a metal railing seperating the open space from the edge of the cliff.

They both stepped out, Iris could feel the loose gravel under her feet as she tried to keep her balance. Noticing her struggle, Kaiba offered her his hand as she took it instantly to prevent herself from falling. "Where are we?" she asked him as they walked towards the railing.

"It's known as Domino Peak, not a lot of people come here." he told her as they both looked out at the view before them.

The city of Domino burned through the darkness of the night, the various hues of light sparkled like the sea. They could see all of Domino from where they stood, every neighborhood and district; some spots were hidden by the large buildings. It was stunning to see what lay before them. The tranquilness of the evening sky casting down upon them, Iris put her hands on the railing as she leaned forward a bit.

"This is incredible." she said, "I didn't know places like this existed, I thought it was something you would see on television or read in a book." looking up at him, "I never thought I'd get to see something like this."

Kaiba could see her smile had returned once again. There was just something about her smile that made his heart skip a beat, the pure joy and wholesomeness of it. "Well it is your birthday, I thought I'd try and do something nice for you."

Iris was shocked, "you know today is my birthday!?" she asked. She didn't mention it to anyone, she was surprised that he even knew.

"You do realize that you work for me, it was easy for me to find out." he told her.

"So that's why he took me to the Domino Aquarium, his gift to me was us being the first people in their latest attraction." Iris thought to herself, "Kaiba I-" feeling her foot slip, Iris lost her balance on the uneven gravel.

Grabbing her arm, Kaiba pulled her towards him, holding her in his arms. "Careful!"

Burying her face in his chest, she could feel her heart pounding from their collision. "That was close," looking behind her. "If you didn't catch me, I'm sure I would have hit my head on the railing."

"Like that would damage your thick skull."

Tapping his chest, "look who's talking." she commented, as she couldn't contain her laughter. Iris didn't know why she found it funny, but she did. Kaiba kept his arm around her shoulders as they stood there together in silence just enjoying the view. 'This was so thoughtful of him…. I can't believe what he's done for me today."

"Primrose." Speaking her name, he snapped her out of her trance.

"Yes?"

"Happy birthday."

Iris placed her hand on top of his, "thank you, Kaiba."

Making the long drive back, Iris could feel her cheeks hurting from the constant smile on her face. She would have never imagined Kaiba doing something so kind and considerate for her, it was moments like these that she wished that they could stay that way. Forget that they worked together and had their differences, just enjoying each other's company. It was the best gift she had ever received. Stopping along the side of the road in front of her complex, Iris looked over at him.

"I really do have to thank you for today, this is probably the best birthday I've had in quite a long time." Iris told him, reaching for the handle she stopped; looking back at him. "You're more than welcome to come upstairs with me if you want." she offered.

"Thanks, but I have work to do. Unlike someone else I know." Kaiba joked.

"Hey you're the one that gave me the rest of the day off," Iris reminded him. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow, have a good night and get home safe." she told him, stepping out of his car. Walking up the flight of stairs back to her unit, Iris could feel the warmth growing in her heart.

He did all of that for her, just for her birthday. He brought her to the one place she had been wanting to see for so long and to the most beautiful view she could have asked for. 'This afternoon…. Was perfect.' she thought to herself, as she unlocked the door to her apartment. Turning on the light, she could hear a couple of pops as a few handfuls of confetti showered around her.

"Surprise! Happy Birthday Iris!" all her friends shouted. Looking around Iris could see all her friends surrounding her, smiles on their faces.

"What's this?" she questioned, Iris could see Yugi stepping forward holding her laptop in his hands. On the screen she could see Tea sitting back in her dorm room in New York. "What's going on?"

"Well it's your birthday, we all wanted to celebrate it with you." Tea told her.

"Happy birthday, hun." Mai walked up to her hugging her, as her friends gathered around her in a group hug.

Hugging her back. "Thanks." Pulling away, "wait how did you all get in?" Iris questioned.

"Well…." Duke pulled out a familiar golden key from his pocket, "Tea told us you had a bad habit of leaving your spare key in the same place."

Looking up, he could see the window to her apartment was the only one lit as the others around were darkened. The sounds of her friends cheering and chatting gave life to the almost empty sidewalk.

He had done his part and more.

Closing his eyes he recalled the conversation he had just a few days ago.

Flashback….

Sitting at his desk, he skimmed over the recent reports that Iris had just sent to him. He trusted that she didn't miss anything, as the various footnotes and charts explained everything he needed for their latest project. Looking up from his computer, he could see that Iris was still gone on her lunch; Kaiba knew that she would be back soon. Hearing his desk phone go off, he reached for it; bringing it up to his ear. "Kaiba."

"Kaiba, it's Tea!" he could hear one of Iris's friends on the other end.

"What do you want?" he questioned her, "I don't have time for small talk."

"Look I need you to do something for me, well I mean for Iris," Tea started. Despite practicing this numerous times, Tea still couldn't help but feel nervous. "Please this is really important!"

"Hm. Primrose can ask me for help if she wants, I don't think she needs her dork friends doing it for her." Kaiba stated. "This chat has been fun, but I don't have time for this."

"Listen here Kaiba, I know what's going on between you and Iris. So if you even remotely care about her, or anything then you'll help me." Tea tried to explain to him.

Shaking his head, "I'm not entitled to help you, or your dweeb friends with anything." He was about to hang up the phone.

"Wait!" He could hear Tea scream. "Please, just hear me out!" she begged.

He sat in silence for a moment, "this better be good."

"Thank you," Tea took a deep breath. "Iris's birthday is coming up in a couple of days, and the gang needs a way to keep her out of her apartment so the others can surprise her. So please if there's anyway you can keep her busy or anything, just to keep her-"

"That's all you called me for?" he questioned. "This is ridiculous."

"Kaiba please! Iris will suspect something if anyone else tries to do it, I know she would be suspicious of you but I know it'll make her happy. So please, please help us." Tea told him, "I'm all the way in New York, I can't possibly do anything other than help the others with this. It was their idea and I just really want Iris to have a really great birthday, she's had it really rough over the last couple of years and I know something like this will make her smile."

.

Running a hand through his hair, he still couldn't believe that he even bothered to help them at all. Though even he had to agree that seeing her smile during the time they spent together was worth it. She truly looked happy, happier than he had ever seen her in a long time. Looking back up he could barely see Iris standing closeby to her window as she was chatting with one of her friends.

Focusing on the sound of her laughter and joy, the way her eyes lit up in merriment. He may not have cared much for her friends, but he did care for her. "It was all worth it, just to see you smile."
