Arc 3, Chapter 4
Konoha's Hospital
"K-Ken-kun are you alright?"
"What!?"
Hinata fearfully ducked her head under her cover and timidly peeked her pupiless lavender eyes out from beneath the blankets. Her eyes darted around the room in an effort to not look at Ken but ended up locking onto his violet eyes anyways.
She didn't want to admit it, but she liked his eyes. They were intimidating and more often than not did scare her, but when they softened and relaxed like they were right now…
"Hinata-chan. Hello, are you there Hinata-chan?"
She blushed and shook her head some-
She knew that he was a friend of Naruto's, but why he was here, and who he was, was a mystery to her. He had just appeared out of the blue two-weeks ago.
"I- I got something for you."
She nervously reached into the drawer next to her bed and pulled out a jar. Titled on top of a wrapping was "Medical Ointment". She didn't know why, but everyday he came he always he had some new bruise adorning his body.
Somewhere deep down she thought it was because of her.
"Awesome! Medical Ointment huh? This will come in handy, thanks Hinata-chan!"
Ken exclaimed and kindly took the offered gift from his newest friend. Did this mean she was finally opening up to him? He hoped so. Maybe she wouldn't be such a nervous wreck when around him.
He meant it when he said that it would come in handy. Everyday for the past two weeks he's been rushing to the hospital right after training, skipping out on Sakura's and Karin's healing just to make it in time to spend time with Hinata.
It was a quick change that he had noticed immediately. More shinobi within view, out on patrols, conducting routinely shifts, and most importantly to him; the sudden diminishing of visiting time for non-essential visitors at the hospital.
He supposed it was due to the chunin exams.
The villagers outside sure were excited, excited to see five of their own participating in the finals. Naruto, Sasuke, Neji, Shino, and Shikamaru.
He only recognized Naruto and Sasuke but imagined that Naruto was good friends with each of them.
"Ano- c-can I ask you to do something for me Ken-kun?"
Hinata fidgeted with her thumbs and smiled happily when he nodded and grinned before she even finished speaking.
"Yeah, anything you want Hinata-chan! Want some more cinnamon buns I gotcha, want someone taken care of, then I'm the guy."
Ken's grin widened seeing Hinata's smile grow more sincere.
He was grateful to Naruto for introducing- err making him look after the shy girl. She was like an angel, so sweet and cute… His eyes drifted down to her clumsily buttoned shirt.
Plus, she was bigger than Naruto and Karin combined!
"I- I want to go see Naruto-chan fight against my cousin, my sensei told me to refrain from going, but-"
Her bottom lip quivered until she straightened her lips and looked at Ken firmly.
"I need to see the fight! I need to see Naruto-chan fulfill her promise to help Neji-nisan!"
Ken's eyes softened at how exhausted she looked after letting her wish be heard. He'd be a cold hearted bastard if he didn't bring her to the Chunin Exams with him.
Grabbing a'hold of her small shoulders he grinned optimistically and nodded. That was the first time he's seen her so excited for anything and he loved it.
"Hell Yeah I'll take you! I already promised Naruto that I'd go and watch her fights anyways. You and me… and I guess Haku and Karin too."
He mumbled his friends names dejectedly.
Hinata stared into Ken's eyes with her face slowly but, surely growing a deeper and deeper shad of red until she slumped forward. With her head now resting against Ken she mumbled, "Me and him… and, Haku, and Karin? Huh?"
Feeling a breeze of air against her bare skin she opened an eye only to widen it and the other one in surprise and shame.
"Wow Hinata-chan those are pretty impressive."
Ken complimented just as she fainted in his arms again.
Open*
Ken froze hearing the door open behind him and promptly close. There was no way he could get himself out of- He pause and froze feeling Hinata lean further into him, squishing her bra-clad chest against him.
He couldn't resist his temptations- he was going to at least feel true heaven before being sent there. So, he gave her a light squeeze.
"Ahh Ken-kun~"
Hiashi Hyuga's face was normally a pale white that many if not all members of his clan, both main, and branch members shared with him. However, upon hearing his daughter's satisfied moan and see her rub herself closer onto the boy he could only assume was Ken Senju, his face lost all of the little color it had.
"M-More… Please…"
Seeing the idiot go in for another squeeze he cleared his throat. The effect he wanted was immediate, Ken let go of his fainted daughter and nervously got up, sending her head straight down into her lap.
"I-it was an- accident?"
Ken lamely lied.
Hiashi stomped forward and grabbed Ken's wrist ignoring how the boy had desperately tried to free his hand.
"Hinata wake up! Fix your shirt and… N-Never make that sort of inappropriate noise again! It is not fitting for the heiress of our great clan!"
Hinata nodded to each of her father's demands keeping her gaze locked on the bed as she hurriedly buttoned up her hospital supplied shirt.
"I'll be back in a second Hinata-chan!"
She peeked up and blushed at the tongue Ken had sticking out at her father before he was taken outside the room.
She knew that it was wrong, but she really liked Ken. He was special, kind of like her other friend. She liked them both a lot…

"You!"
Ken shrugged and glared at Hiashi's pointed finger. What was the guy's big deal? So, what he groped his daughter, okay he groped his daughter…
"Me?"
Hiashi huffed deeply before lowering his finger, he refused to be riled up by a child. A dumb, ignorant, perverted child of all things.
"Yes you. You have caused nothing but trouble for me and my clan these past to weeks. What are your intentions with my daughter?"
"Intentions? Friendship I guess?"
Ken answered after scratching his head in thought. He only wanted to befriend her, and judging by the gift she got him, and her request earlier, it was an apparent mission accomplish.
"I see you must be an idealistic idiot like Namikaze, and his brat… Seeing as that is the case, I doubt you are even aware of the troubles you have been casing by dutily visiting my daughter."
He let is words trail off before he glared at the confused boy.
Truthfully, he was happy that the Senju was getting so close to Hinata. So close to where that according to his scouts following the boy around, the boy hurries to her side every day, almost like she was his lover or wife.
It were the other clans causing such a big fuss and mess out of it, accusing him and Tsunade of creating a secret contract agreeing to marry off each of their heirs.
That was what everyone was calling Ken, Tsunade's heir, or rather the heir to the Senju name, that the Sannin had sullied to the ground.
Pushing the blonde out of his thoughts he shuddered in excitement; what if he could arrange for Ken and Hinata to wed. If Ken's bloodline passed down that would be great, and if it didn't then that would still be great. He and the Hyuga clan would have direct ties into and with the now returned Senju clan.
His clan already had the most political power, but if he somehow got Tsunade to agree with marrying Ken and Hinata off together, the Hyuga clan would undoubtably strip the Uchiha clan of their title as the strongest.
He'd allow Ken and his daughter's relationship to continue, with a little patience maybe he could finally find a use out of his eldest.
"Have you spoken to Tsunade-hime yet? There are some issues I would like to speak to her at once about."
"No, I don't know who the hell that is, but I do have a question for you old man. How did Hinata-chan get those injuries?"
Ken inquired while clenching his fist. There was no way she picked a fight with someone.
Hiashi sighed.
"Her cousin Neji inflicted those wounds upon her, but before you allow your pitifully unaware emotions to sway your view, just know she chose to fight despite knowing he was stronger than- Hey where are you going?"
Ken shoved his hands in his pockets and turned around with a tired glare.
"To go and get Hinata-chan some more cinnamon buns. I want to beat this Neji guy senseless, but he's fighting against Naruto so he's as good as dead already."
Ken was sure that Naruto was training extra hard to defeat Neji, or maybe he wasn't even a concern for her. She was probably training to beat Sasuke.
"Where's the best place for cinnamon buns? I don't think she liked the ones I got for her two days ago."
Hiashi stared blankly at Ken before taking a step forward, maybe he was wrong about the kid. Maybe he wasn't as naïve as Minato and Naruto were.
"Follow me… I think I know which one's she likes the most."

Hiashi didn't know when the last time he ate with his daughter was. Back at home whenever he wasn't to busy to eat with them, she always chose to eat in the solitude of her room. He didn't like that he was just now noticing this.
He loved Hinata, but it was hard for him to show it due to her incompetence at performing her requirements as clan heiress.
He hoped she loved him back.
He quietly nibbled on his on his cinnamon bun; sitting in a chair located in the corner of the room. He watched with calculative eyes as Hinata tried and failed at stifling her giggles at the moronic and barbaric faces Ken was making for her.
"Hey old man Hiashi, I'm meeting with this woman named Mikoto Uchiha at her place today, and well since you're such a popular guy I was wondering if you could tell me about her?"
If Ken was anyone else he would've either ended their existence right there on the spot, or not acknowledge their existence at all. It was all about patience. Patience.
He just had to wait for Ken and Hinata to further their relationship.
Patience.
"Just because people greeted me on the streets doesn't makes me popular."
He spat out the word, "popular."
"I do know of her, and all I will say is that it depends on whether she considers you an enemy or not. So which is it boy? Enemy or friend?"
"Friend I think."
Ken was aware of the uncertainty in his tone and as a result finished eating his snack and leaned closely to Hiashi to continue.
"She and I have a common goal I think. Or common interest."
He added to clarify.
Hiashi too finished his sweet snack and regarded Ken with a raised eyebrow. He was interested now.
Why would Ken and Mikoto Uchiha be meeting to discuss things behind closed doors?
An alliance!
He would not allow her to get the boy on her side.
"What is this common goal or interest then? Have you spoken to your clan head Tsunade-hime about this?"
Ken grabbed another cinnamon bun out of the box located on top of Hinata's lap and tore through it in less than a second.
"I don't know this Tsunade chick for the last time, and even if I did know her why would what I say to Mikoto Uchiha be that much of a big deal to warrant her attention? This is between me and her."
He just wanted information on the woman Haku had warned him against meeting. Like the woman had him shook or something.
"H-here you go Ken-kun."
The Senju gratefully took another bun from Hinata and fixated his scowl back on Hiashi.
"Speak to your elder boy. Tsunade is the current head and overseer of the Senju clan. Whatever you wish to say to Mikoto Uchiha must go through her first."
Hiashi said coolly and stood up making his way threw the door, closing it behind him.
"Ughh your dad is just so- huh? What's up Hinata-chan?"
Ken sweat dropped at her confused expression that quickly turned beet red.
"Y-You're a Senju?"
Ken nodded and plucked the lone orange flower out of the vase next to the two of them.
"Watch this, I'll prove it to you."
"Wait no, not that one. It was a gift fro-"
Hinata's shoulders slouched when Ken plucked some seeds from the base of the flower with a bright grin. She hoped Naruto's gift to her would be okay.
She just wished she knew where the blonde had gotten the flower from.
She nearly fainted when a plethora of flowers sprouted from his hand each identical to the original Naruto had gifted her with.
After struggling to fit all of the flowers into the vase Ken awkwardly smirked under the beautiful and grateful smile Hinata had given him.
"That was amazing K-Ken-kun! W-was that perhaps?"
"Mokuton?"
Ken answered for her while taking another cinnamon bun.
Hiashi closed the door fully with a pleased smirk. So, it was true then, Ken was a real Mokuton user.

Uchiha Compound
"Okay who's the drunk bimbo?"
Ken finally addressed the elephant in the room, or rather dining room. There was also a brunette with a weirdly dressed piglet clutched in her arms, but she seemed relatively nice compared to the angrily drinking blonde.
She was seated down next to Haku, who had decided it was unsafe for whatever reason for him to come here on his own.
"This is Tsunade Senju, your distant cousin Ken-chan."
Mikoto said in an uneven tone.
"Who said that you- could… Take my name Ken Senju. That's my name you bastard."
Ken stared unimpressively at the drunk as she slurred her words and chugged away at the bottle of Sake or cheap liquor that was glued to her hand. She reminded him too much of his father Hiromi…
"So why is she here?"
He continued only to sigh when Mikoto sighed herself and massaged her temples.
"Umm, Tsunade-sama was informed of your meeting today by her fellow clan head, Hiashi Hyuga earlier today. He was apparently concerned about… You Ken-kun agreeing to something…"
Shizune trailed off and fidgeted under Ken and Mikoto's annoyed glares. They were both equally scary. She let out a sigh of relief when Mikoto focused her glare on Ken, and Ken doing the same to her for doing so to him.
"Since we are on the topic of those pesky Hyuga's Ken-chan. Why have you been spending all of your free time with the Hyuga clan's heiress? You aren't seriously smitten with the girl are you? Have you forgotten the reason why we are here today?"
Ken gulped at each of her ruthlessly asked questions. Haku was right about one thing. Mikoto Uchiha was intense and straight to the point.
"No I haven't forgotten, whenever I'm not training with Haku and Kakashi-sensei or not playing with Hinata-chan I am thinking of ways to get back at the old prick so get off my back."
Maybe he shouldn't have said it with as much snappiness as he did. He instantly regretted his words when she leveled a glare on him, just like how she did Naruto back on that day he had first met her…
She was judging him. His words, his outward appearance, perhaps his soul. He didn't know but he was uncomfortable under the silence that had befallen the table.
"Brat who's your dad? Your mom?"
Tsunade questioned with a drunken blush lining her cheeks.
Mikoto scoffed at the woman.
She despised Tsunade as a woman and as a shinobi; or more importantly as a kunoichi. She allowed her once great clan to dwindle down into literally nothing, and she refused to continue her clan's lineage just because of a ruined love life.
That was the life of a ninja, why children still looked up to the Legendary Sucker? She didn't know.
"My father's name was Hiromi- no last name."
Despite her drunkenness Tsunade caught on to the, "was."
"Shizune I'm out, can you get me some more Sake? I don't care where it's from. I'll deal with the brat on my own. I've got a sneaking suspension about what they wanted to talk about."
After Shizune timidly nodded and left Mikoto's house Tsunade placed down her empty bottle and folded her arms across the table.
"You're here because Danzo roughed you up right?"
Ken dropped his jaw at the drunk guessing it correct immediately. Maybe underneath her drunkenness was a knowledgeable woman.
Mikoto narrowed her eyes in suspension there was no way Tsunade could've known that unless she was there, watching as Ken was beaten up… What a terrible woman…
"Why are you interested in Danzo Mikoto? I thought that you were the acting as the perfect little wife, not too caught up in the politics your husband lives in."
Mikoto glared before sighing, expressing her displeasure, and then glared downwards at nothing in particular. She didn't know why she was the only one to notice it in her family, in her entire clan.
"I have a feeling that Danzo is the reason for my son's betrayal, my cousins death, and for my clan's sudden shift in… Agenda. And I want answers from him."

Senju Mansion
"Woah you live here granny?"
Ken hid behind Haku to avoid being hit by what he now recognized as a devastating weapon. After his meeting with Mikoto, and Tsunade he had made the mistake about calling her a hag and watched as she punched a crater into the street effortlessly.
Tsunade Senju was somebody he didn't want to anger too much.
"Yes, and, you're going to be staying here too brat. Maybe that'll keep you out of trouble."
Tsunade sneered and entered through the door after Shizune opened it up for them. She was going to have to have a serious talk with the brat about who he was allowed to 'hang out' with, cause she was already tired of all of the meeting request she was getting by just about every other clan.
She just wanted to drink and pass down her knowledge to Sakura and maybe afew others, so that Konoha would let her go, not look after another brat. Naruto was already enough.
Ken and Haku looked at one another.
"All right then… I guess we're no longer staying with Kakashi-sensei."
Ken scratched the side of his temple.
"Ken-kun and Haku-kun will be staying with us too! Kya!"
Karin rushed outside and clasped the two of them into a hug. Once upon a time Ken and Haku might've hated the action, because of the simple fact that it brought the two of them much too close together, but now.
Ken smiled at Haku, who returned the smile. It felt right.
"Shizune! Laiya! What are we having for dinner!"

Ken stared at the ceiling of his new room. It was huge, easily the entire size of what he and Hiromi called their living room. He had no clue that his family would be this loaded.
Turns out he wasn't the only one being played with by Danzo. Mikoto Uchiha revealed that she believes Danzo did something to not just her son and cousin, but also her entire clan. That they seemed to have lost something.
Something important.
He looked up seeing and hearing his door open. Seeing that it was Tsunade he narrowed his eyes at his drunk cousin.
"The hell you want granny."
He smirked, there was no way she would hit him while inside. If she did then she would destroy som-
His head smacked against the frame of his bed from the force of the book that was thrown at him. Lifting his head up from the bed frame, he looked down at the book that had fallen in his lap.
"I can't really help you with Danzo besides providing you that. It's my grandfather's personal journal detailing his experience with Mokuton."
Tsunade scratched her chin and frowned, thinking of more things to say, She wanted to help him, but also didn't want to get too involved with the kid.
"That Hatake brat should be able to help you dissect the information inside of it, but do whatever you want, you're on your own now."
She grumbled with her arms crossed underneath her impressive bust. To be honest it was hard trying to abandon the kid especially with the way he was staring at one of her last possessions of her grandfather's that she hasn't sold.
"Thanks granny… I'll make sure to read every bit of it."
She didn't say anything, she only closed the door and shouted.
"Shizune! I want another bottle of Sake before bed!"

Chunin Exams Stands
"Sniff… sniff… Ken-kun… Ugh…"
Hinata anxiously peeked over Ken's shoulder at the sniffling and crying redhead seated to Ken's left right next to Sakura, who was sympathetically patting her back.
"There, there, Karin who would've known that he was such a cheating scumbag… He did the same thing to Naruto too, you know… sort of… with you."
"Hey, you shut up pinky! You're going to give people the wrong idea!"
Ken finally snapped and yelled over Karin at Sakura. He didn't cheat on anybody. Not Naruto and certainly not Karin. Hinata was just his frien-
"Ano- K-Ken-kun, I don't know if Naruto-chan would like this…"
He stared dumbfoundedly at the red-faced Hinata. She betrayed him. He sighed when Karin's sobs grew louder and he received glares from the people seated around them.
He hated this.
He looked at the only person not making fun of him; Haku and flashed his friend a weak appreciative smile. No matter what it seemed he would always have his back.
"The first round of this years annual Chunin Exams will now begin! Will the contestants Sasuke Uchiha of the Hidden Leaf, and Gaara Sabaku of the Hidden Sand come down!"
A man standing in the center of the buzzing arena announced over the loud cheers of the crowd.
Ken's eyes widened in shock seeing that from the gust of sand that flew down in the center of the ring, materialized the redhead with the gourd and tattoo he had seen just a little more than a month ago.
"Kyaaaa Sasuke-kunnnn!"
Sakura beamed and bounced happily in her seat seeing Sasuke jump down from the contestant box. He landed in the center of the ring right in front of the redhead with a cocky smirk and eyes as red as blood.
"Oh. My. Gosh… another hottie."
Karin drooled.
Ken's eyes wandered up to the area Sasuke had jumped out of, specifically towards the whiskered blonde shouting with one foot hoisted on top of the railing and eyes focused on the two boys in the middle of the arena.
"Whoop his ass Sasuke-teme!"
Her hollering thundered over the rest of the crowd.
Hinata and Ken looked at one-another before sharing a soft laugh together.
Genma glanced up towards the Kage box, after receiving a nod from the blonde Hokage he shouted and jumped backwards away from the two genins.
"Begin!"
Just as Sasuke raced towards Gaara with dust picking up from the burst of speed at which he had ran, Ken saw Mikoto's pointed finger from the other side of the stands. Following it his eyes widened before narrowing.
It was Danzo, heading towards the direction of the Kage box.
