**** To my dear fans of Desire here is a chapter I promised over a year ago now I believe. Thank you to the ones who still read and still PM me asking for updates. Im really going to try my hardest to get this finished fo you guys. As I tend to do often I have strayed to go a different direction with the story. I have the ending in mind and it will be bittersweet for all the readers as a warning. Since the beginning of the story Damon has been a complex and well just not that great of a guy... He has his moments but I have to believe that the Elena in my story no matter what could never honestly tolerate living the way she was or had been. I also believe that this would be the reaction for the character I made Damon be. I hope you all enjoy and I will update soon! As always enjoy read and review****

She was all set. Everything was put into motion. In one weeks', time she would be leaving. Hey sweaty palms clung tightly to her steering wheel. She had just gone to get the last details put into order, and she had been careful. So very careful. The lengths that she had to go...

Elena took her hands off the steering wheel one by one and wiped them off on her pants. The tightness in her chest had been there constantly for a month. Ever since she decided to leave him. The doubt in her mind was continuously there as well. Could She leave her husband? Could Elena take his daughter away from him? Troubled thoughts never left her mind or moments of doubts. It was seeing Ric that had officially sealed the deal for her.

A week after Damon had begun to assault her in the bathtub, Ric came knocking on the door. When She had seen his face, she burst into tears. He looked disfigured as nothing but bruising and swelling covered the handsome kind face Elena knew so well. What had Damon done to him?

Alaric told Elena how Damon had shown up at his house the next day with Klaus and another man. They had beat him senseless as Damon stood back and watched. Damon had warned Alaric the next time he came near Elena he was dead and told him to take into consideration of her safety as well.

'He told me to not leave Seraphina without a mother.' The words had shaken her to the very core. He was nothing but a monster. The man who had been so sweet and loving to her over the past couple weeks was a fake. She saw the way he watched her out of the corner of his eye. It was almost like he was waiting. Did he know what she was planning?

Elena didn't believe he did. But she could never be sure with him. Ric had helped her plan everything. She had managed to stash some money away during her time with Damon. But to start a new life not hardly. Alaric was going away with her. Together they were going to escape this mad world they were in. They had just secured their new identities. With Damon leaving town in a week for a business trip, it was now or never.

Elena was naked sitting on the edge of the bed, her legs were spread wide open as Damon devoured her. She leaned her head back as his fists clenched the blankets. The way his tongue and lips were tasting her was almost like nothing he had ever done before. She was in literally ecstasy as he made her climb to heights Mutiple times before falling into her. His hips moved in a fast rhythm filling her finally with his seed and they clung to each other. His lips found hers and they laid there for over an hour kissing, licking and touching one another. Was it crazy she would miss this part of him?

Her heart skipped a beat as the thought crossed her mind that it was like he knew he was going to be with her for the last time. Elena knew if he did though he would put a stop to it. Wouldn't he?

When they finally pulled apart, he left her in bed to take a shower. She laid there and repeated the plans in her head of everything she had to do tomorrow. She had scheduled a hair appointment; somewhere new she had told Damon she wanted to try. She had waited days for his approval before he told her she could go there to try it. Seraphina also had a three 'clock check up tomorrow, Caroline was bringing her and from there it was straight to the first private plane Ric had gotten for them. She had planned the day out to be perfectly normal. Damon wouldn't know anything was amiss until at least six or seven and by then they would be thousands of miles away.

"What are you thinking about? "She hadn't even realized that he was back in the room from his shower. She forced a small smile and shook her head.

"Nothing," He stared at her for a second before he spoke.

"You look a little lost in thought, anything you want to tell me?" She shook her head again.

"No everything is alright," She touched her breast and felt the fullness. "It's Nina's feeding time, usually she's up around now to eat." She glanced at the clock and frowned realizing it was an hour past her normal time.

"I had Bridgett feed her a bottle,"

"Damon you know how I feel about bottles!" Elena said getting up off the bed.

"Relax you have so much milk stocked up for her, besides she's getting bigger she needs to get use to a bottle." He came over and kissed her reassuringly. "She'll be okay I promise, come to bed I have an early flight."

Elena had checked into her hair appointment the next afternoon and gotten only a quick trim before she left to meet Ric at the mall down the road. Damon had left this morning before Elena woke up, which she found strange he didn't wake her. He usually always woke her up. When she woke up to Seraphina being brought to her for her morning feeding, he was just gone. She had tried not to dwell on it too much, but it bothered her and so did the feeling in her stomach.

"It wasn't normal Ric," She said looking around paranoid in the café corner they always choose to sit in. "He hasn't responded to my texts either."

"You said he told you he would mostly be out of reach." He said reassuringly, and that was true he had told her that. "You're worrying to much Lena." He reached out and grabbed her hand squeezing it. Elena relaxed some, Alaric had a way of calming her and making her feel safe.

"We have everything?" She asked again for the tenth time since meeting twenty minutes ago.

"Yes, everything is packed and waiting for us,"

"And you'll be down the road when I get out of Nina's appointment right?" He smiled kindly at her almost all his bruising gone from his face. The few that remained pained her deeply, just knowing they were caused because of their friendship.

"We're going to be okay," She nodded and faked a smile before glancing at her watch.

"I have to go, I'll see you soon okay keep your phone right by you." They hugged tightly before Elena quickly left to go to her car. She arrived in the parking lot of Nina's doctor's office at 2:45. She scanned the lot for Caroline's car and frowned when she didn't see her there. But she did notice something else and her heart fell into the pit of her stomach.

Two big black SUV's sat parked on the opposite end of the parking lot from her. She pulled out her phone and Caroline's name was popped up in a text. She opened it and saw the running a little late text but the hammering of her heart didn't stop. She sat anxiously watching both the entrance and the SUV's until she saw Caroline's car pulling in. Elena sighed a little relief and stepped out of her car. When Caroline's car pulled a few rows down from her she paused. She waved her hand thinking maybe she hadn't saw her.

"Caroline." She yelled slightly and she saw the passenger window roll down lightly. Elena glanced at the two SUV's again and slowly began making her way to Caroline's car. Something was wrong, every fiber in her being told her something was wrong and not to walk towards the car. She stopped walking again, and quickly dialed Caroline's phone. "Caroline come on!" She yelled across the parking lot. When she didn't answer she started again to walk to her car. That's when Elena's phone began to ring, Ric's number flashed across the screen. She picked up instantly and her blood ran cold.

"Elena Run! Run Elena Run!" But she was frozen at the sound of his panic and screams in her ear. All she could think about was her daughter. Was she in that car? Who was in that car? The answer was quickly answered for her, as the back window rolled down and she saw Raven hair. That was all she needed as she turned and began to run back to her car as quickly as her feet could manage. A loud bang rang in her ear, and she felt immense heat in her right arm. She got into her car and started it before peeling away. She drove away like a mad woman expecting to be followed and was more puzzled then ever when no car or SUV came into her rearview mirror.

Elena fumbled with her phone and screamed in frustration as she dropped it on the ground. Thinking fast she pressed her voice command on her car and somehow managed to say to call Ric.

"Elena, are you all right are you hurt?"

"He knew Ric, he knew," She sobbed out and glanced in her rearview mirror.

"I know, they showed up at my house. My camera system alerted me. Elena I need you to calm down okay," He said it in a soothing voice and Elena shook her head like he could see her.

"He has my baby; I didn't get her I have to go get her Ric."

"No!" He yelled making her jump slightly. "I need you to try and remember how to get to the plane Elena, can you do that?" He asked and she shook her head again.

"I can't leave her,"

"He'll kill you Elena!" Elena felt those words like a slap in the face. "Do you remember how to get there?"

"Y-Yes," she said looking in her rearview mirror again. That's when she noticed the red on her shoulder and looked over at and saw the blood seeping down her arm and onto her seat next to her. Panic filled her body as did pain. "Ric he shot me, I'm bleeding." Elena began to hyperventilate, and she tried her best to keep control of her car.

"Where are you? I'm coming to you drive in a square until I get to you. Be calm Elena okay, breathe with me," Ric walked her through breathing techniques until her breathing ha semi returned to normal. "I'm almost to you okay pull over on the corner of Hamilton." Elena did as he instructed and then she heard the beeping of another call. She scrambled to get her phone yelling out in pain as she had to use both arms.

"It's Damon," She said breathlessly.

"Elena don't answer it I'm almost to you."

"He has Nina," Elena whispered and clicked over. She listened to the silence on the other end for a second before she spoke. "Where is my daughter?" She tried her hardest not to let the tears be heard in her voice.

"My daughter you mean," she cringed at Damon's cold tone on the other end. "My daughters' mother is dead." Elena covered her mouth to stifle the sobs. How could he do this to her, how could he be so cruel. "Unless," She waited as he did a dramatic pause. "Unless she comes home to me and hands over Alaric. I will bring no more harm to her."

"You tried to kill me," Elena gasped no longer able to hide her sobs from him.

"If I wanted you dead you would be, besides you tried to leave me for another man and take my daughter with you."

"Because you abused me!" She cried.

"I gave you everything you ever wanted!" The phone speaker rattled from his outraged cry. Elena let out a yelp as her driver door popped open, but it was just Alaric.

"Elena lets go," he said urgently.

"If you go with him Elena, you're dead do you hear me? You're dead I will find you and kill you both-"

"Elena leave your phone and lets go!" Alaric urged again; Elena hung her head in defeat and set her cell phone on the passenger seat. Damon's screams could still be heard as they walked towards Alaric's car.

"I'll fucking kill you Elena, do you hear me? Your daughter will only ever know your grave you fucking cunt I'll fucking kill you-" His screams were drowned out by the slamming of the car doors and they drove away.

As they drove Elena screamed, she cried, and she sobbed. She begged Ric to turn around, she begged god to bring her daughter to her. She cursed Damon swearing she too would kill him, and the she begged again to God, Jesus, Alaric, Damon and to whoever she could think of to just let her have her baby.

Even as she got onto the plane the tears did not stop. The pain she felt in her chest she did not think would ever stop again. She refused to let Alaric look at her arm on the plane, it was just a surface wound, but she prayed she would bleed out to stop the pain she felt. How could she leave her daughter behind? The heaviness in her breasts told her that it was time to feed Seraphina. She ached for her, yearning for the beautiful face she looked upon in awe every day.

"Ric, I can't leave her." She croaked out in between her sobbing for the thousandth time. He pulled her close to him.

"You'll get her back; I promise you'll get her back." Alaric rocked her gently like she herself was an infant and Elena fell asleep tasting her tears to dream only of kissing Seraphina's beautiful little face.
