Enough Chapter 20: "Hidden Secrets"
Thanks to Disney Boy for the suggestion! I'll add onto it a bit. ;3
Also, you might be wondering why I'm posting two chapters at once, since I usually post one at a time. Well, I thought I posted the last chapter, but I actually forgot, so then I wrote the latest chapter and was about to post it, only to realize, I DIDN'T FREAKING POST THE CHAPTER BEFORE! *very aggressively tugs on hair* Omg whhhhhhy?! :(
I'm updating my LPS story Quit Tripping Up today, for anyone reading that story! (I actually wrote that yesterday as well, but again, I FORGOT TO POST IT! GAH! T-T)
Also, the reason Nobody Listens hasn't been updated in a few days is because I was thinking of a cool song I could put in there, but I couldn't, so after surfing the web about a million times, I found a good one! (Yes I like songfics. :p)
Anyways, let's start! Enjoy!
Bradford had returned back to the prisoner's place to find it in the same condition as before. Della was still chained to the wall, unresponsive despite whatever the blue duckling- Dewey, was it- tried to do. He turned his icy gaze on the ducklings.
"You may leave now. I have no use for you here." Bradford sniffed.
Dewey glared at him, "I'm not leaving without my mom!"
"Aw, how cute. You're so loyal." Bradford rolled his eyes. Dewey growled and threatened to deliver a few punches with his fists, but Huey held him back. He smirked, "If you insist, I guess you can stay." His tone was smooth and cool, as if he didn't have a care in the world about their situation.
"Louie!" He called. The duckling came inside the room for the third time, a bit fed up. It has been an hour since the last time he had been inside, making Louie wonder what Bradford was going to tell him.
"Now tell me Louie, I'm asking you again: Who do you trust?" Bradford grinned slyly as the duckling nervously fiddled with his thumbs.
Louie blinked at him, what was he supposed to say?
"You…" Louie lied. Well, it wasn't a complete lie, but truth be told, he didn't know what to believe.
Changing his point of focus from Louie to the kids, he asked, "Are you three going to stay as well?" Bradford eyed them suspiciously, wondering what they would choose.
None of them said anything.
"Very well." Bradford took out a remote control and trapped them inside a cage.
"Wait! I want to leave!" June blurted out last minute.
"Really?" Bradford cocked his head, slightly amused. He smiled thinly, "Well, that offer's up."
"What?! But that's not fair! You promised Della you'd free us!"
"And you refused my offer, and now it's up." Bradford countered. June slumped against the bars, seeing there was no point in arguing.
But that didn't stop her. As soon as Bradford stepped outside along with the guards who were on a lunch break, she turned to the others.
"Okay, so what do we do?" Huey asked.
"Ooo! I know! Why don't I squeeze past the bars, turn invisible, then grow giant demon horns and stab Bradford while watching him bleed to death?! That'd work! And it's VERY simple."
The remaining three ducklings shared concerned glances.
"I don't think that's possible." Huey finally said.
"Yeah, I think I've been watching to many horror movies." Webby deadpanned. She said, "That's obviously impossible. Oooo! Except maybe in an alternative universe where-!"
Huey cut her off, thinking of an idea, "We need someone to find Louie and convince him that he needs to learn that we're the good guys here, not Bradford."
"He won't believe you." June objected.
"Yeah, but he'd believe evidence, wouldn't he?" Huey raised an eyebrow.
"What?" June asked.
"He might not believe us, but if he found something that proved him wrong, then he'd understand."
June though about it for a minute, "Ya know, that's actually not a bad idea." They turned to Dewey for his opinion.
Dewey was just sitting in the corner, staring off into space.
"I don't care what he believes. He hurt Mom! How could he?!" Dewey grumbled. He turned around to face his friends and family, and they could see his eyes brimming with tears.
"We need to focus on right now." Huey urged him.
Dewey looked away and whispered, "Okay." You could tell that he was angry, but the duckling in blue didn't say anything else.
Huey looked at June, "Do you think you could climb up to the vent over there?" He pointed at the small vent in the corner.
"I can try…someone boost me up there!" June said. She climbed onto Huey's right hand then stepped on Webby's left, a gaining solid stand. She then hoisted her foot onto the edge of the vent, kicking it with her other while gripping the top part so she didn't fall off. The vent door fell to the ground and she started climbing through, ready to find Louie.
- Louie, Time Skip-
Louie Duck stood in the hallway, tiptoeing past a FOWL guard who had fallen asleep on the job, despite in being 3:00 in the afternoon, which Louie found very weird. The duckling paused, spying a small room with a shut door. The floor creaked under his weight as his hand got closer to the doorknob, and Louie winced, turning around. The guard still looked to be asleep, casing Louie to sigh relief. The duckling the stepped inside and surveyed his surroundings, not knowing where to start searching. He eventually settled on inspecting the big desk inside, digging through the drawers to find stacks and stacks of paperwork.
Pushing a feather away from his forehead, he started to read them. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first, just a couple notes about FOWL HQ and how to operate certain gadgets. He separated a stack of paper, he spotted something that caught his eye, about the Third Eye Diamond. Reaching to pick it up, he read off the front page.
"The Third Eye Diamond is a priceless artifact of unknown origin, currently residing in east of Duckburg inside a hidden Chappell. Its powers are unknown."
Louie looked confused, "Wait, then how did Bradford know-?"
"INTRUDER!" Bradford bellowed, storming into his office with a laser gun. Louie ducked behind a small filing cabinet in the corner, bringing his legs up to his chest. Bradford looked around furiously, then let out a joyless laugh.
"Louie, are you for real?"
Louie felt his heart skip a beat as he emerged from behind the cabinet. He had thought that it would have been a good hiding place, but clearly Bradford was too smart.
"What were you doing there, Louie?" Bradford's voice sounded soothing, yet Louie found absolutely no comfort in it.
"Just…practicing battle techniques." Louie sputtered.
"Ah. I see." Bradford curled his beak, "Okay then. But please move your 'battle training' far away from my office."
Louie walked out of the room, scowling to himself for making so much noise. He should have been quieter! To try and clear his head, Louie decided to take a walk outside. He walked up the stairs leading down to FOWL HQ to reach Funso's, waved goodbye to Phantom Blot, then pulled his hood over his head and walked down the streets hoping that no one would recognize him and know that he was missing. The wind blew a small wisp of white hair with black on the tips (head feather(s)?) in his face, but Louie pushed it away.
"Louie!" Someone hissed at him. Louie turned around to see June running after him.
"June? What are you…what are you doing here?" Louie finally managed to get the words out of his beak.
"Was that really true? Do you seriously trust Bradford's lies after lies after lies?! Louie, he's using you! We need you!"
"So that's all you want me for. You need me. You don't want me. Are you sure YOU aren't using me?!" Louie retorted. June stepped back, still not parting her gaze from his.
"You can believe what you want to believe. But somewhere inside FOWL is the stuff Bradford doesn't want you to find. He's hiding big secrets from you, Louie. And you might not believe me, but you should go see for yourself."
A slow clapping noise reached Louie and June's ears, "Bravo, yellow duckling. Looks like you managed to escape. Good for you…not." Bradford snapped his fingers and three eggheads ambushed her from behind, grabbing her arms.
"Louie help!" June cried as she was taken away.
"He's hiding big secrets from you, Louie. And you might not believe me, but you should go see for yourself." Her words echoed inside of Louie's ears.
