James Bright frowns, studying the NMR data. Is this a glitch? he wonders. Pulling up the initial set of data, he compares it to the new one. The conclusion, however, remains the same.
Swallowing thickly, he turns on the microphone. "May 22, 2020," he records. "A marked difference is visible in the protein structure of the microorganism on day 64. Could this be mutagenesis?"
A vaccine would be next to impossible if this is true, he fears.
