Ok time for another new chapter! The next maybe 3 or 4 chapters will have more hocus focus on the pairings. It's pretty much in aftermath to what happened during and after Dragon Games.
I still own nothing but the plot and my ocs which still doesn't include Rotbart
p.s. There will be time where I will say that a character is speaking another language but because I will have little to no knowledge of that language I won't type it out in that language just to be respectful. I personally know other languages but I can speak it more than I can write it.

Apple Pov
I've had to deal with so many changes in my life this past year. First Raven not wanting to be evil, then Rotbart becoming my new villain. I remember feeling so heart broken when Daring left my story but those events were nothing compared to the heart break I feel now this is probably ten times worse and it's all because of Rotbart!
It was the next morning and Apple really should have been focusing on getting ready for school but she couldn't help but to think back on what occurred the night before.
Flashback
Apple was out doing something she normally wouldn't do, walking around the enchanted forest at night by herself. Though if she was honest with herself this past week everything she did was unlike her, she still remembered the look of surprise on her roomie's face when she asked her where she could find her brother.
"Apple I don't understand why do you need to find Rotty?" Raven was of course very curious even a little amused.
"Rotbart and I really need to discuss what happen Raven, I mean he was the one to wake me up after I had been poisoned!" Apple explained to her friend.
"Yeah, but Rotty told me he was just doing CPR Apple. So why do you need to speak with him?" Raven questioned.
"I just really do okay Raven." Apple pleas with her friend.
After that Raven explained to Apple that Rotbart would most likely be in the enchanted forest near a lake, Raven also warned that while her brother could just reading he could also be swimming in said lake which he liked to do naked so she should be careful. Luckily for Apple when she found him he was just reading from a book and still fully cloth.
End Flashback
Thinking back on it now I guess I should have just left it alone. Apple thought with a sigh. It wasn't the insults that made Apple sad she knew Rotbart would insult her because he always finds a reason to. No it was the kiss that made her sad…actually it was Rotbart's reaction after the kiss was interrupted that made her sad. He looked at me like I was a monster!
And there lies the root of the problem for Apple, she was spell bonded by their kiss it was hexactly the kind of kiss Apple always imaged her Prince Charming would give her. It made her feel all those wonderful things that Ashlynn always described being with Hunter was like plus ten no…twenty times more. But that feeling was clearly one sided. I really had thought he was enjoying the moment too after a while. I mean I know at first I caught him by surprise but then he pulled me in closer and kissed me back?
But then that dragon roar happened and Rotbart snapped out of it. Every time he said 'NO!' I swear my heart was going to break just from hearing it. The kiss on Apple's part hadn't really been planned she'd originally thought that maybe if she reasoned with Rotbart they could behave in the same manner that she and Daring had all those years they thought they would end up together. But he just kept going on about how he wasn't her Prince Charming and then the idea came to her to see if there was any chance of a spark in one shared kiss. I felt way more than a spark I felt everything why didn't he?
"Apple!" Raven says in surprise entering their dorm room and seeing Apple not yet ready. "Are you feeling okay normally you'd be ready at least three hours before class and right now you only have two hours to get ready?"
"Oh, I was just thinking and must have lost track of time. I'd better get ready." Apple says getting out of bed and gathering her stuff before she went into the bathroom. I've got a feeling today is going to be a long exhausting day.
As her friend Blondie Lockes would put it this day was 'just not right'! First she wasn't half an hour early for Princessology like she usually was, next she didn't get a perfect 100% on her Good Kingdom Management test but a 99% instead and finally she was off key by one note in Muse-Ic class. Worse though was that she couldn't find Rotbart anywhere.
At first she didn't even realize that she was looking for him, but every time she walked through the halls she'd looked out for him, every time she went to her locker she'd looked. She couldn't count how many times her heart skipped a beat every time she thought she saw him only for her heart to plunge down when she realized it wasn't him.
Apple never thought she would feel this way about a boy, at least not until her story began. Relationships were always a later thing not an 'I WANT IT NOW' thing. Apple understood why some of her peers dated, but her main focus had always been the future not so much the present. It didn't help that she was spending most of her day thinking about Rotbart.
As the day went by and the longer she went without hearing so much as an insult, seeing an evil smirk or eye roll thrown her way from her would-be- villain but really prince charming. Made Apple feel as if her heart was breaking more and more. He really was disgusted by me. Apple thinks sadly as she walks towards her next class. I should talk to someone about this.
The question of course was who? She didn't think she could take this one to her friends though, Blondie would make a mirror cast show about it (and Rotbart might kill me if she did) Briar would tell her to move on to the next party, Ashlynn might understand but her crossover relationship wasn't with a villain and Raven was Rotbart's sister which would make things awkward for her friend. That left only one person in the school she could turn to.
So later that day during her free period Apple decided to go see Andrea about this problem. After all the demi-goddess had helped a lot of her friends plus she must have spent a good amount of time with Rotbart if she's able to come up with a nickname for him.
Apple shyly approached the door to the demi-goddess's office after all the last time she had been there was to tell Andrea to leave and now she was here seeking her help. Gathering her nerves Apple knocked on the door hoping this trip would help her understand things better.
"Come in." Andrea says from inside her office.
Apple opens the door and is surprise to see a large apple grove in Andrea's office. "How did you get all the trees in here?"
"Little magic that I put in the office, it's supposed to change into wherever a student here would feel most comfortable to talk." Andrea explained with a shrug. "Now little fruit how can I help you?"
"Well, I did this thing yesterday well really last night and at the time I thought it was a really good idea but now I'm not so sure?" Apple says vaguely.
"Ok, first off Apple I can't really help if you're going to be vague. Now if you don't feel comfortable telling me what you did I can understand that, but I promise what happens here as far as I'm concern stays between you and me." Andrea told her clearly. "And if you really need my help that badly then-"
"I kissed Rotbart!" Apple shouts suddenly interrupting Andrea.
"You kissed Rotbart?" Andrea repeats back clearly shocked by the confession.
"Yes, see when the whole dragon games business happened the Evil Queen managed to poison me with an apple. And Daring tried to step up but it didn't work and later on I was choking and Rotbart was there and he used CPR so I woke up." Apple rushes through her explanation.
"Ok, I'm still not getting where the part that you kissed Rotbart comes in?" Andrea states still a bit confused.
"The story of Snow White says that only her prince charming is able to wake her up." Apple explains.
"Well that's at least how the story goes now I guess." Andrea states much to Apple's confusion. "Don't worry about it go on continue please?"
"Since Rotbart was the one to wake me up, I decided that I needed to talk to him since now he is or very likely to be my prince charming. At first I had hoped to reason with him and we could maybe come to an agreement kind of like the one I had with Daring. But Rotbart was so upset and ranting and pacing and then for some reason I thought kissing him would be a good idea and so I did…" Apple pauses at the last part thinking back the night before.
"And what happened Apple?" Andrea pressed sensing that there was more.
"I really, really liked the kiss and I thought Rotbart might have as well but then this dragon roar came out of nowhere and the next thing I knew he was pulling away from me and shouting no!" Apple begins to weep at this point it hurt every time she thought of it. "NO! Like I was some monster or something."
"Apple, little fruit you need to calm down I don't think Rotbart thinks you are a monster." Andrea says pasting the younger girl a tissue.
"Do you really think so, I know you two spend a good amount of time together since you got here! Can you tell me what he's thinking? Why did he react this way?" Apple now pleas with the demi-goddess.
"Whoa, whoa Apple I can't tell you why Rotbart is acting this way." Andrea gently tells her.
"Why not?" Apple whines.
"Same reason why I wouldn't tell other people about what you just told me. What happens between myself and Rotbart stays between us it's up to him to share it with other people." Andrea tells her sadly as she looks down at the girl who looks so broken hearted.
"So there is nothing you can do?" Apple pleas one last time.
"No, but there is something you can do. Do yourself a favor look up as much as you can on Rotbart's originally story 'Swan Lake' learn about his ancestors' roles, it won't give you everything only Rotbart can but it should give you an idea at least." Andrea informs the girl.
"I guess that's better than nothing." Apple says with a shrug.
"Trust me Apple it might help more than you think." Andrea says evenly.
Rotbart pov
Rotbart knew it wasn't going to be a good day when he woke up, especially after what happened the night before. The nerve of Apple White, calling me her prince charming and kissing me! Rotbart thought darkly as he got ready for his day. He was angry at Apple, but also at himself because he knew (though he didn't want to admit it) that it may have been the best kiss of his life. That kiss so soft, warm and sweet I just want to…No!
He hardly got any sleep that night that scene haunted his dreams the whole night and it scared him. Love was something that drove his father's side of the family and all it ended up doing was getting every last one of them killed. His father, grandfather, great grandfather so on etc… they all died because of that curse of true yet unrequited love that followed the men in his family.
He had once thought he would be cursed with it as well once upon a time before his sister's open rebellion and when he still had feelings for Duchess. But the story switch with his sister changed that, there was less to worry about in the Snow White story for a villain now a days. Love still drove him he knew that would never stop but at least it was the love that he had for his sister, that wouldn't kill him.
And after spending a few days a week speaking with Andrea she'd helped him realize that his feelings for Duchess wasn't so much love but just a really strong fear of being alone. According to the demi-goddess since the story of Swan Lake begins and ends with Duchess and himself in a way that makes them both psychological dependent on each other. The results of seeing their parent's demise together at such a young age pretty much guaranteed it, as Andrea said 'the scariest thing for anyone is death especially if you're alone but you and Duchess learned at five that no matter what it would end with you two together. A five year old shouldn't be told that death was waiting for them but that is a mistake made in this realm.'
It took time but Rotbart did realize that Andrea was right he didn't love Duchess at least not as much as he thought he did. He slowly began to forget about it and soon Duchess's place in his heart was one of youthful fondness it didn't dominate his whole heart anymore. Despite the fact that Rotbart realized this he still decided it was best never to form any real attachments that would result in love.
Old habits were hard to break and the last thing he needed was for his heart to drive him to do the same evil his forefathers committed because love scorned them so. Being in Apple's story was Rotbart's blessing, that no one could take away because he could be his mother's heir if he so choose, he is older than Raven after all. Leave it to Apple White to destroy that dream!
Before the kiss when Rotbart was just first starting to torment Apple, he had come to realize that Apple was attracted to him though she herself wasn't fully aware of it. He wasn't sure at first by how much but as time went on he would test it just to see, she would always have a small blush on her face whenever he got close enough. Her eyes would follow him more than she ever cared to realize during a dance or ball when he was all dressed up and so regal looking that even if he didn't know better he would think that he was some sort of charming prince. But the nail on the coffin over whether or not Apple's attraction towards himself was real, was proven after bending lessons one day. Usually the four different groups walked back together to school when it was done no big deal. But on this day it was very hot most of the males were happy to take off their shirts to show off but Rotbart took his off because one it was hot and two his shirt was soaked from the water bending lesson he did not care to show off like his male peers.
It was on day that Rotbart had noticed that Apple had been eyeing his body on and off the whole way back towards the school, only turning away when Rotbart caught her gaze and smirked at her. He could remember moving closer to the princess and teasing her about how she wanted his body, how she wanted to rub her fingers on his tone sweaty body. Oh how she had blushed and stutter and call him a vile evil lying villain and ran away as fast as she could. Despite knowing that Apple's attraction was real he knew she was 'too pure' to ever dare to do anything about it. And while he could never deny that Apple was fairest, she annoyed him too much with her way of thinking and overall presence for him to ever want to push it.
But her way of thinking was changing in ways that Rotbart just thought he would eventually end up respecting. He could respect that everything she did was done because she thought it was best for everyone else. It was foolish thinking but he could respect the idea behind it, he could also respect that she was pushing herself to not be the typically damsel in distress it would make their story more interesting that way.
He didn't once think that those changes would possible cause him to grow any feelings for her that wasn't just tolerance. In fact he wouldn't have even realized he could see her in a different way if not for that kiss. That kiss that makes me think I should love her, make her happy, and claim her so no one else could take her away me. Again those thoughts scared him because he thought he had gotten pasted it, his ancestry was the jealous type in the worse kind of way and Apple had many, many admirers. Either he or half the Ever After male population would die within a month of a relationship so there couldn't be any relationship. Apple's not going to give up though not right now anyway.
So Rotbart went about his day only this time he was avoiding Apple as much as possible. Which was a bit painful he always at least insulted or tormented Apple at least once a day. But he couldn't afford to deal with her right now not after what happened between them. He needed to figure things out and the best person to help him was regrettably Andrea whom now knew him very well, his sister was too close to Apple and he had few friends in this school that he could say would be able to help. So since Rotbart would likely see her at lunch (it was their usual meeting time) he would just have to avoid Apple at least till then. Andrea is going to have a field day with this she's been trying to hashtag Rotty/Apple or Rapple us since she got here.
And so the day went on and it was soon lunch time, and Rotbart went into Andrea's office just as he would any other day.
"Hey, Rotbart here for lunch? Good thing I went to the Mad Hatter's tea shoppe! I got your favorite tea here." Andrea states.
"I still don't understand how you are able to order anything from him." Rotbart said as he sat down on his chair which had a small black coffin table in front of it, taking a sip of the tea. He still remembered when Raven shared this blend with him and told him where he could find it unfortunately unlike his sister he didn't have the patience for riddlish so he could never order it himself.
"I would think that you would have more patience for languages Rotbart." Andrea proclaimed rolling her eyes.
"How can one have patience with a language that has no structure?" Rotbart asked in Russian.
"All languages have a structure it's just a matter of taking the time to figure it out." Andrea replied back in French, and Rotbart just shrugged at her answer. "So how has your day been?"
"Typical." Rotbart answered.
"Well, I know there are going to be some big changes in the bending lessons soon not that I can give too much details. But I'm sure you're going to love it Darkest Prince." Andrea exclaims happy not realizing that she had triggered the young man when she called him Darkest Prince.
"Would you stop calling me Darkest Prince?! I'm not a prince I never will be so why do people keep thinking that I am one?!" Rotbart barks loudly.
"First off, I've been calling you Darkest Prince for how long now? And it has never bother you before and secondly your mother is the Evil Queen so you as her son are a prince. A dark one but a prince which is why I call you Darkest Prince." Andrea shouts back at him but then calms herself down. "What's wrong?"
"What makes you think something is wrong?" Rotbart says evenly, but the look on Andrea's face showed that she didn't believe him. "Something happened with Apple… she kissed me."
"She kissed you?" Andrea says sounding completely shocked.
"Yes! Okay she kissed me, Apple's has lost her mind she thinks I'm her prince charming because I performed CPR to wake her up after she had been poisoned. I don't know how it happened, one minute I'm yelling at her and calling her stupid for thinking I'm her prince and the next thing I know she was kissing me and I…" Rotbart paused after that not really sure if he wanted to admit the rest to Andrea.
"You?" Andrea says hoping that he would continue but it looked like he wasn't going to in fact he couldn't seem to be able to look her in the eye. Rotbart looked lost in his own thoughts, so Andrea walked over towards him and turned his face so that she could look him in the eye. "You liked it and that scares you." Andrea states after staring into his ice blue eyes for a few moments.
"Yes." Rotbart admitted there was no use in denying it to Andrea she could read his eyes which was why he had turned away. "This can't happen to me Andrea, Apple may have this attachment to me for a week or a month but for me if I get attached…it doesn't easily just go away."
"Do you really think your feelings could run that deep?!" Andrea asked him. "I mean I know you've dated at least Kitty before and you guys broke up?!"
"She broke up with me because I didn't really love her." Rotbart says with a shrug. "She wasn't wrong I didn't, I'll always be very fond of her but to turn around and date Apple? Sure we've always had some tension but-" Rotbart paused and started shaking his head. "Damn it! One of the reasons I even agreed to be her villain was because it was safe, I'm not supposed to fall for Apple White its wrong!"
"Rotbart I know this is a hard subject for you but-" Andrea began to try to reason.
"But what?" Rotbart interrupted. "You know my original story Andrea, you know what will happen to me if I allow myself to feel it. Apple had hundreds of guys throwing themselves at her even when everyone thought she and Daring were going to be a thing! Do you even know how many are going to try now, and do you really think they will stop just because Apple's dating a villain! People will die. Because I will kill them!"
"Rotbart we've talked about this! You're stronger than that, you left Swan Lake because you truly didn't want to hurt Duchess or anyone she might end up in love with." Andrea tries to reason with him.
"I can't do it again Andrea, I can't! That's why I didn't want to seriously try with someone else." Rotbart pleas with her. "That kiss alone pales in comparison to anything I felt with Duchess, if I get more just to have it taken away from me because her mother said or because some cut-out Prince Eric cardboard walks by her…I can't."
"Then you don't have too. Not unless you're ready or think you can." Andrea tells him gently. "But you might want to try to at least explain something to Apple?"
"I already tried telling her it was wrong!" Rotbart says shaking his head. "Hell I know it's wrong we're too different, we'd never agree on anything, we don't really like any of the same things. She'd be done with me in a week…hmm maybe that would work."
"What are you thinking Darkest?" Andrea asked eyeing him.
"Maybe if we dated just for a bit we'd realize how wrong we would be for each other!" Rotbart clarified.
"Your solution to not having to date Apple…is to date Apple?" Andrea questioned shaking her head. "How is that supposed to work again?"
"Apple in her mind has been rescue by her prince charming, she wants me to be prince charming, and I don't ever want to be prince charming so we'd just annoy each other than break up." Rotbart says delightfully.
"Okay Rotbart as your counselor I would have to say that you should do whatever you feel would best help you." Andrea states to him.
"And as my friend?" Rotbart questioned.
"I would say that you're writing your own personal trashy cliché love story, which seems like a good idea at first but then backfires. And you hate those so much!" Andrea tells him.
"This will work we just need to be reminded about how we hated each other before this kiss happened to erase everything we've felt after the kiss." Rotbart tries to explain.
"Well good luck with that." Andrea says sarcastically. "I'm going to be here coming up with hashtags for your power couple name."
"If you want to waste your time be my guest." Rotbart states then moves to leave the room.
"At your wedding I get to make a speech!" Andrea shouted after him as he left. It's probably gonna include this whole thing you've planned.
Normal pov
It was later in the day after classes were over and just before bending practice, Apple was back in her shared dorm room but this time she was alone. She was sitting at the opened window thinking about what she had just learned. Andrea was right looking up the Swan Lake story did help some but I still don't know what to do? It took some doing but she finally found a book that could help her, it went into pretty good details about everything.
From what she could gather Rotbart and his forefather's had a curse of true yet unrequited love with the heroine of their story which would only end in their deaths and leave the heroine trapped as a swan forever. Now she understood why Rotbart reacted so negatively to her kiss, he was in love with Duchess! And kissing Apple most have made him feel like he was betraying her.
It was sad Duchess never had anything nice to say about Rotbart yet he loved her anyway. Rotbart must be able to hide his feelings very well because she would have never realized that he could feel that way about anyone let alone Duchess. How can my prince charming be in love with someone else I mean, I'm fairest of them all and Duchess is such a high school mean girl!
After reading up on that story Apple realized that maybe there would be no turning this around for Rotbart. According to the book she found he would love Duchess forever, he most likely just plans to pine over Duchess for the rest of his life. Apple had been so caught up in her thoughts that she almost didn't see the owl on her windowsill with piercing ice blue eyes.
"Rotbart?" Apple questioned the owl looked far too intelligent to just be a regular owl.
The owl flew into the room and turned into the very person Apple had been thinking about. "Good guess, though after all this time even you should be able to recognize me." Rotbart stated.
"What are you doing here?" Apple asked ignoring the insult completely.
"Oh, I just came to talk about the weather," Rotbart begins to say rolling his eyes. "Why else would I be here for it's not like you had…I don't know sexual assaulted me last night?!" Rotbart spats sarcastically. "We need to talk."
"Don't bother I already know what you are going to say." Apple says turning away from him looking out the window sadly.
"You do?" Rotbart asked raising one eyebrow.
"Yes, you're going to say I'm a foolish stupid girl and I need to get it out of my head that you're my prince charming, because you'd never even date me let alone love me." Apple continues to say fighting back the tears from falling down her eyes.
"Well you're wrong." Rotbart states evenly. If I hadn't talked to Andrea that might have happened though.
"So you can just leave and I won't bother you again and….Did you say I was wrong?" Apple asked in surprise finally looking towards him.
"Yes, you're wrong that's not why I came here to see you." Rotbart informs her. Well at least anymore.
"Then why are you here?" Apple asked hoping that she didn't sound too hopeful.
"Well, I ah-" Rotbart begins to speak nervously but then clears his throat. "I've decided since it is unlikely that you'll stop thinking of me as your prince anymore and for my own personal reason-" Rotbart begins to explain.
"What personal reasons?" Apple asked happily, she was hexcited now maybe he was going to ask her to be his girlfriend.
"Just my own personal reasons that I don't feel is necessary to discuss." Rotbart says forcefully. "Anyways I've decided it might benefit us both if we dated." He finished.
"Oh, Rotbart you're really asking me to be your girlfriend?! Are you agreeing to be my prince charming too?!" Apple started asking happily. "Oh, this is so hexciting! You'll need to change some… no all of your villain classes for respectable princely ones." "Apple." "And of course maybe change your wardrobe just a bit so you're that you're more approachable towards our future subjects." "APPLE" "And of course we'll also have to talk with our mothers and-"
"APPLE WHITE!" Rotbart shouted finally getting her attention back. "I said we'd date not change and plan out the rest of my life?!" If she's this controlling before dating me, I can only image how bad it would get once we do start 'dating' this plan might be done quicker than I thought. "We're not even completely used to each other, don't you think we should work on that first?"
"Right! You're right Rotbart we should. I'm sorry I just got so hexcited." Apple said happily and smiled so brightly.
She was so happy that Rotbart almost wanted to forget about his plan and date her for real. No, have to stick with the plan. This is for our own good we just would never be a good match and this plan will prove it. "Right then, we agree we're dating not planning out our future?"
"Yes!" Apple states with joy hugging him out of nowhere. "This is going to be fairy wonderful."
"Yes, fairy wonderful." Rotbart replied back as she hugged him, it was awkward for him since he'd only ever really could remember his mother or his sister being the ones willing to hug him. The awkwardness he was feeling was quickly replaced with another surprise when Apple kissed him on the cheek. And he swooned over that peck on his cheek. Shit! I really hope she didn't see that.
Apple just giggled at her soon-to-be prince, she saw him swoon but figured it was best not to say anything because it might embarrass him. This is great soon Rotbart will forget about his 'love' for Duchess and only want me! Oh we should get hashtags!
