I hope you love feels as much as I do, as this is a very fluffy and sweet chapter. I would also like to address a comment someone made. Wondering about Narcissa. Amelia'a bond is strong with her new mother, but I'm not very good at expressing mother and daughter relationship, as I grew up without one. I was raised by a single father, and I'm Daddy's little Girl. So I actually have to look up to see how a mother and daughter is supposed to interact. And, though my father recently has married..I'm still not used to a strong female presence, except for my own. So, bare with me.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this story.
I woke up in my parents' bed. That was how this summer started, my mother refused to let me go when we arrived home. Draco had laughed, but I found it comforting. As my father and mother both held me during the night, knowing this was not going to be an every night occurrence...certainly not as I grew older. Teenagers didn't do that sort of thing, at least not according to muggle telly, and teenage romance novels.
My green eyes fluttered open, as darkness consumed my eyes. I could feel my father moving about the bed as he rose. "Good morning, Daddy." I whispered to him, but was content in curling deeper into my mother.
"Good morning, Princess." His voice returned, the groggy. "The Seer, I told you about, will be here this afternoon."
"I look forward to it." I whispered softly, while looking at his silhouette. It was still too dark to see any primary features, but that was alright. While I laid there with my mother, he moved to the lavatory. Now, I was quite content...until I myself needed the loo.
Once out of my parents bedroom, and did my mornings business. Gipson, our new house elf, brought me a cup of coffee while I waited for my father in the study. Thankfully, I was already out of my pajamas and into a pale green summer dress. Sipping the dark brown, bitter liquid, within a delicate china tea cup.
"Amelia, you could have stayed in bed." I heard my father speak, as he sat in his chair across from him.
Meeting his eye with a grin. "Dad, you and I both know..once I'm up..I'm up."
"Yes. Always punctual…" He replied, I loved these moments in the early morning most with my father. It was probably why our relationship was so good, as we spent most of the morning talking and laughing with one another. Now, my relationship with my mother was strong as well...but having lived most of my life without a female influence, with a negative male...it was easier to cling to the positive aspects that came with Lucius as my father. Because, I craved that fatherly love more...because of my birth father.
He seemed to be studying me for some time, before a large grin formed upon his face. "McGonagall, will be by this morning.
"Why?" I asked, knowing now he was up to something. I just could not place my finger upon the reason.
Standing he moved to the desk, which he kept locked. He removed a few documents that seemed rather important. "She will have to be a witness for you." He explained. "A trial with the ministry will be conducted, explaining why you were removed from your muggle home...afterwards we will move on to prepare the potions necessary for the adoption."
"When is the trial?" I asked, my eyes must have shown my excitement..as my father very much began laughing at me.
"Sweet Princess, it will take place at eight this morning. Snape will also be attending, as he has agreed to brew our Potion." He explained, moving to gently pull me into his lap. "The Potion will be ready, at the end of August…we will be connected by blood..and no one can deny you again."
A few stray tears of joy fell from my eyes, as he announced this. "Do I have to wait till August to take the name?" I asked.
"No. After today, a form will be given so we can legally change your name." He told me softly. "Though I have no want to change your first, I quite like Amelia."
"Good." I replied softly.
He grinned, before continuing on. "However, I do not care for your middle name as much. Amelia Lane…." I scrunched up my face alongside him as he spoke. "Amelia Rose Malfoy on the other hand, has such a beautiful ring to it."
"Daddy." I whispered after he spoke.
"Yes, Princess?"
"I love you." My arms wrapped around him softly, as he held me close to him.
Soft footsteps could be heard, as my mother poked her head in. "Ahh, good morning my little Flower." She grinned, I returned the large grin.
"Good morning, Mum." I replied softly, gaining more excitement.
Her warm lips touched my head, as she moved to sit where I had been. "I can see your father has told you of the wonderful news."
I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. As her arms wrapped tighter around me, it seemed as if she was hiding something...but at the same time loved me so much she wanted to protect myself from all harm. It was the same look that my father gave me, as did Draco. It made me wonder what the years to come were going to look like, but for now..I could push it from my mind. "When will Professor Snape be here?"
"I arrived last night." His deep voice replied, as he stepped into the room.
I must have beamed at the man, quite animatedly as both my parents were laughing brightly at me. My Professor also seemed quite amused. "Good morning, Professor." I finally said.
"Good Morning, Miss Malfoy." He spoke simply, the name only made me beam all the more.
Chuckles flew around the room, as I curled deeper into my father….my mother gently running fingers through my hair. "We can have your hair lengthen if you would like." She whispered, but I shook my head softly. I had grown accustomed to my short pixie, and had no want to change it anymore. With the security blanket gone, that was formerly my hair….I felt brave and determined enough to face the world.
"Mum, can I talk to you about that?" I asked softly, I did however, want to change one minor aspect.
"Of course." She replied softly, while we both stood in order to go to a more private room of the house; my bedroom. Sitting about the bed, we sat together as I leaned into her warmth. She held me tightly, securely. "You are a Malfoy…." She suddenly started. "No matter what the jury says, you will forever be one."
I nodded softly. "Thank you, Mum." I whispered softly, smiling softly as she kissed my head.
"Now, what did you wish to speak with me about?" She asked, her fingers running through my ebony locks.
Sitting up a bit, I wanted to look her in the eye when I made my request. "Could I change the color of my hair…...to blonde?"
Her blue eyes went wide at that, before she grinned. "You want to look like your father, with more feminine aspects." She teased me softly, before her fingers danced across my stomach. Instantly I bucked and began laughing brightly, as she did. "I don't see how that will be a problem."
"It will also be fun to see Dumbledore's face, when my brother and I walk in...side by side." She snorted loudly at my comment.
"You already seem like twins in my book." She told me simply. "True siblings do not share each other's intellect, though a few laughs and jokes may come into play...they look out for one another, bring out the best in each other." Her words seemed so beautiful.
"Is it bad...I now want to go hug Draco awake?" She laughed instantly at that.
Shaking her head, she replied within her chuckles. "No, he needs to be getting up."
Standing quickly, before running to Draco's room. He let out a loud groan, as soon as I tackled him. "Amelia, what in Merlin's name?!" He cried, but a smile was forming on his face.
"Eight!" I squealed. "Trial….I will be legally your sister."
He sat up, throwing me back on the mattress as he did. "Why didn't you start with that!?"
"I shouldn't have to." I shot back simply. "Get dressed! Professor Snape is already here, and Professor McGonagall is on her way!"
He nodded, as his lights turned on. "Well let me get dressed." sis."
"Okay…." I replied, standing. "Draco?"
"Yeah." He asked, his grey eyes meeting mine.
"I love you, brother." I told him, he was up faster than I could blink.
"I love you too, sis." He replied, as he embraced me tightly. "But, Lane has got to go."
"Amelia Rose Malfoy..,has a better ring to it." I agreed, and he laughed brightly.
His warm lips touched my head gently, before pulling away. "Now get, unless you wish to see your brother naked."
"Ew!"

The Minister allowed our case to be a private affair, it was really only paperwork..not necessarily a trial persay, but there were a few protesters. Well..only one. Dolores Umbridge, a lady dressed in pink from head to toe..and she was incredibly racist. Questioning the entire proceedings, even though it was quite clear I did not know how to perform the imperious curse...she made sure everyone including McGonagall was tested.
She was quite red in the face when it came back negative, as we all sat together before the Minister. "Mr. Malfoy, surely you are not-"
"Dolores, enough!" The Minister exclaimed, he seemingly as annoyed as the rest of us. "I was there when Lucius took the young child in, he was already in love with her, fully claiming her as his." The annoying pink cow went silent after that. How was she a former Slytherin, somebody please explain this to me! Honestly she seemed like a bumbling idiot.
"Dolores….as a fellow Slytherin I will let this go, this time." My father spoke calmly, his lips forming into a feral snarl. "But, let it be known. If you happen to insult my daughter in any way again..even suggest that she is manipulating us...I will show you what I am capable of."
The pink cow looked surprised, her dark eyes focusing on me. My father, mother, Draco, and even Professor Snape all looked ready to spring….and Professor McGonagall was probably worse. "Dolores, this is one of my cubs..I suggest you watch yourself." I couldn't see the Lioness's face, but it must have been pretty terrifying. As the cow backed the hell off real quick.
The Minister cleared his throat. "I understand that you Severus Snape will be brewing the potion."
"Yes." He drawled, his dark eyes still glued to the cow. Seemed he was almost daring her to do something, but I knew better. He was inside her head, soon all of her weaknesses, he will hold close to his person. Waiting to ruin her.
The sound of a throat clearing, came from the Minister as he nodded. "I understand that we wish to change her name today?"
"Yes." My father spoke. "Our family name will protect Amelia...and I want to do everything I can to protect my Princess."
The Minister smiled at this, before turning to me. "And you child, how has your time been."
I looked at him, before looking into my mother, and father's eyes. A smile formed on my eyes, before my arms wrapped around both. Turning back to the Minister, my voice came out stronger than before. "Growing up in the Muggle world...I didn't know that a parent was supposed to protect their child, meaning logically I did...but physically it was never taught." Turning to the cow, and back. "Now, I do...but it is so much more. I finally know what it's like to laugh till my sides hurt, how being tucked in can make a bad day finish with hope for the next to be better….and that I can voice my opinions and thoughts and have them valued." The Minister was silent, as he allowed me to finish. "I love them...and am thankful for what they have allowed me to see."
My mother wrapped her arms around me. "We love you as well, my little Flower."
The Minister grinned. "Well then, that is all I needed to hear. Amelia Lane Swan, could you please-Lane...that is a dreadful name….could you please stand child."
I did, right before he called for my father, mother, and brother to stand as well, Professor Snape moved to us. "I am going to cut all four of your palms, do you consent?" The dark, demanding, but kind man (to me at least), asked.
"I do." I said, with a large smile. It was followed by my family, which led the Potions Master to walk down our line. The sharp sting followed his wand, before whatever blood that flowed was siphoned, and distributed into a vial.
"In about two months time, the potion will be completed." He explained, touching my shoulder calmly. "All four of you will have to ingest the potion, and will fall under its effects..which include dizziness, nausea, and for Amelia's case her physical appearance could be altered." He turned to me, before raising an eyebrow. "You will experience quite a bit of pain, and may even become faint."
I nodded. "Thank you, Professor." Pain wasn't anything to me, I have felt plenty in my life. I'm sure I could push it to the back of my mind.
He nodded, before moving about. Nodding to the Minister. "I am finished."
"Very good, Severus." He replied, before looking at me. "Now, for my most anticipated part of today. Please step forward, child."
My father bent down to me gently, before I did. "I am so proud of you." He whispered, kissing the top of my head...seeming to anger the pink cow, as she sneered in our direction.
"Amelia Lane Swan." The Minister spoke, as I walked forward. "Today I strip you of your given name, freeing you of your past...so that you may have a better future." He proclaimed around the room, it was quite a show. "From this day forward, you will be known as Amelia Rose Malfoy, daughter to Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, sister to Draco Malfoy. The wizarding world will recognize this change, and respect the decision that has been made here today."
A buzz went through my head as he said this, I became more and more excited..it did slowly die down, the buzz not my excitement. As both Professors McGonagall and Snape began to clap, I smiled brightly at both of them. Right as my father, officially by law wrapped his arms around me. "Daddy." I laughed softly.
"Princess." He replied, holding me closer.
Needless to say, as if I wasn't already. I was Daddy's Girl.
I told you feels right? You ready for your questions? I know you all are...it's just so much fun.
1) What do you think of Amelia's new name?
2) Did you like the quick lapse of character from Snape, as he placed a hand on Amelia's shoulder?
3) Follow up with last question.: Was Snape trying to offer comfort, what do you think?
4) Do you like the nickname for Dolores Umbridge?
