Chapter 17: Insanity Rekindled

The aged and wizened Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was a great many things. A battle hardened Veteren of multiple wars, the ruler of the greatest hidden village in the Elemental Countries, and above all else, a worried ruler. He always worries about his village, especially now, during the Chunin Exams, especially when Anko, one of his trustworthy ninjas told him of the genin whose faces were melted off.

He was not ready however, when Kyōki slammed kicked his door open, dragging an unconscious Sasuke behind him.

"YO OLD FART!" Kyōki exclaimed, watching with little to no interest as the ANBU shimmered in front of him holding their blades to his vitals. "HAHAHA YOU'VE SEEN WHAT I'VE BEEN THROUGH FUCK OFF!"

"ANBU, I'll be fine, please stand down." Hiruzen said while breathing out the smoke from his pipe.

At this, Kyōki walked forward and threw his Sasuke at the Hokages feet. "Man he was fucking heavy! God I need a massage, maybe Naru-chan will help, hm what do you think old fart?"

"Kyōki I need to know what happened to Sasuke-kun here, and what happened to you? You look like shit!" The Hokage bent down to check that Sasuke was still breathing, but freezing in place as soon as he saw the black ink around his neck.

"Wow, your shitty eyes can actually see what's wrong with this picture." Kyōki stood there, filing his nails down, almost like he didn't feel the massive amount of KI radiating from the Hokage.

"Where did he get this Kyōki? Answer me!" The Hokage's rage was palpable, to the point where the ANBU were scared for their lives. But Kyōki himself didn't have a care in the world.

Hiruzen looked up in a snarl, gasping when he saw Kyōki's face a few inches away from him. "You know exactly who gave him that mark! You were there that night! You saw what he did to me!" Kyōki was almost crying at this point, but for some reason he didn't let loose a single tear. "Why didn't you stop him you old shit? What were you such a pussy that you couldn't even bear to lose 1 man for many?"

"You couldn't even man up and tell Kakashi the truth, that you have seen me before! HARDEN YOUR HEART!" Kyōki yelled, shocking the old man at his anger.

"Kyōki, I'm sorry, I am a weak old man, my heart wasn't as strong as it is now, he will die no matter what." Hiruzen signaled to his ANBU, a Toad masked ANBU blurred to his lord's side.

"Toad, you will seal the mark on Sasuke-kun's neck, make sure none of the evil can be let out, bar 2 people, you are the best we have." Seeing the agent blur through handsigns, the Hokage saw the black collar fade into an outline of what it once was. "Thank you Toad."

"Sir the seal will only hold as long as he fights it." The agent replied, blurring back into the shadows.

"Kyōki take Sasuke back to his team, the Prelims are starting soon." Hiruzen said, his voice commanding.

"No problem boss, but remember, if you don't kill him, I'LL MAKE MY PAIN LOOK LIKE CUPCAKES!" Kyōki replied, taking back the somehow still asleep genin, and walking away from the Hokage's makeshift office.

"TIGER" The aforementioned ANBU blurred to his side, while Hiruzen summoned a shadow clone. "You go onwards, watch the prelims, make sure we wait for the snake." The original then whipped off his robes and hat, to show himself in his battle armour.

"Sir?"

"I must get ready, you will bring your squad to training ground 3, and we will train my weary body back into shape." The ANBU gasped, feeling the heat from the Hokage's Will of Fire.

'Harden your heart, for it will protect your body, harden your body, for it will fight for your heart.' Hiruzen thought, his fire exploding into his eyes.

"LET US TRAIN FOR WAR!"

The genin that have passed the second stage of the exams; Teams 7-10 from Konoha, Team Sand from Suna, Team Sound from the Sound, Team Kabuto from Konoha. All in all, 21 genin stood weary from the grueling second exam.

They stood facing an arena, large enough to fight multiple opponents at once, it was a marvel of engineering. Looking up at the sound of clapping, the genin noticed the Hokage softly clapping.

"Congratulations to all of you, you have done your villages proud, showing us that you can survive, you are that much closer to becoming Chunin." Hiruzen smiled, talking happily while looking at each genin in the eyes.

At this, the genin gleamed in pride, most of all Naruto, but he was noticing a distinct lack of his boyfriend, as soon as he thought that he felt a small rock impact his stomach. Looking up to the Hokage, Naruto noticed a smirking Kyōki.

"HEY FOXY, THIS NEXT ONE IS ALL YOU, DO ME PROUD AND I'LL DO YOU LATER!"

The other genin blushed heavily, most of all Naruto, who remembered how big Kyōki is, he felt a small trickle of blood leaking out of his nose.

*cough* "I believe that's my cue to at least save our village some embarrassment." A sickly looking Jonin appeared, walking down into the arena.

(I'm not writing all the coughs, I feel like too many coughs pads the word count. Just imagine he coughs every time he talks.)

"My name is Gekko Hayate, I'll be your proctor for this stage of the chunin exams, call it stage 2.5"

"There's 21 of you here right now, does anyone want to back out now? We will be having preliminaries to decide who are moving on to fight in the finals." Gekko eyed the genin.

"That means I'm out, don't wanna play this game anymore." Kabuto raises his hand signaling he is done. 'Naruto, show me what you can do.'

"Alright, if there are no more interruptions, I declare the preliminaries open! Fight for your life!"

Gekko signaled to the sign behind him, randomly choosing 2 names.

"Will Sasuke Uchiha and Yoroi Akado please come down to the arena?"

The two genin moved down into the arena, while Kyōki snaked his arms around Naruto, somehow not alerting everyone to his presence.

"Let's watch the ducks dance my love!" Kyōki exclaimed while holding Naruto close.

"The first match of the Prelims, HAJIME!"
