So… After 4 and a half years we finally come full circle with another GrayMi story… A continuation nonetheless of the first chapter.

This was requested by Fallingxoxo and Jacob Bodmann (Germany ;) ) so you can thank them for the nostalgic treat of a chapter I wrote back when I could barely produce grammatically correct sentences. XD

Plus it means I get two requests out of the way in one go. So there's that.

So, I hope you're all ready for this, for we are now going to revisit Gray X Mirajane after all this time.

:::-(())-:::

"You know, I never realised how ironic this is."

Gray raised a brow, casually shifting to the side as one of the hundreds of demons sailed unimpeded through the air and away from him. Casually, he looked behind him to see a smiling Mirajane dissolve a small group of the vicious little bastards with a lazy flick of her wrist. A shiver sent up his spine left his body standing a little straighter, normally when he saw that smile it was either innocent or too innocent…

But when she smiled that same smile in her Satan Soul form…

"W-What are you talking about?" He asked in confusion, trying to not think about how terrifying that smile was on her face.

"Our situation, as in you and me." Her chuckle flitted through the air, belaying the tense atmosphere of the battleground before them as Gray sent another group of demon back to the hole they literally crawled out from.

The two mages stood almost back-to-back in a horrid swampy mass surrounded by dead and dying trees, sludgy piles of purplish dirt and GLOWING purple rivers of corrupted liquid that once could have been called water before whatever happened, happened. Demons of all shapes and sizes literally crawling from every conceivable angle of the eerie biome before them. The blackening sky roared with thunderous anger that left it near impossible for them to hear one another over its bellows.

Another demon almost skewered Gray from behind before getting sliced in two by his Zeroth's Longsword, leaving the remains to hit the floor with a harsh thud before they began to rapidly decompose, filling the air with more of the repugnant stench that assaulted their sense. He ignored the sense of satisfaction he got from watching the damn thing melt.

It was at times like this that Gray had to remind himself that this entire mission was Mira's idea…

With a harsh growl, Gray snap-froze the immediate vicinity around him and subsequently formed a wall from the sheer amount of demonic bodies he'd caught in the process, causing some of the more clumsier specimens to stumble and slip to the bottom of the other-side like drunk trolls before he blew the wall up, shredding the mass behind it to itty bitty pieces.

"Our situation?" He cried indignantly, slightly backing up as another demon tried its luck with him. He was really starting to hate the job. "You chose this for us! Where's the irony in that!?"

Mirajane giggled… giggled!

'Oh god, don't do that in your Satan Soul form, please!' Gray shuddered at the sound. Her Satan Soul form seemed to make almost everything she did look and sound far more sadistic than it likely was… likely.

"Oh I didn't mean that, dear." She chirped, smiling sweetly as another demon was obliterated from the waist up. It almost seemed like the demons around him actually flinched at their comrades fate. "I meant us..."

"...Us?" Gray's forehead creased up, though it clearly wasn't because of the blood of the impure on that was splashed upon it.

"You know what I mean… I'm a Take-Over Mage, you're a Devil-Slayer; and here we are fighting demonic fish people in a town called: 'Finnsmouth.'" She said with a small smirk adorning her face. Gray could swear he heard her little group of demonic survivors cry out in terror from the look on her face. Though that was likely just the bad smell muddling his senses up.

"..." Did he really have to dignify that with an answer?

He loved Mirajane, he really did despite his trouble showing it sometimes. But did he really have to treat this train of thought with something more than blatant ignorance?

He sighed to himself, tiredly impaling a squealing demon through the chest. If he wanted to avoid her fake crocodile tears he would probably have to.

He absent-mindedly went to freeze more demons to death, but before casting anything he realised that all of his demons were gone or were going. He could see some of them crying anime tears as they dissipated into nothing but purple and green shit piling on the ground beneath him. He grinned sadistically, he hoped they cried all the way to their satanic boss in the underworld.

"Fine..." He moaned, turning around to face his girlfriend of 1 whole year. Actively ignoring how attractive he found her as she dissolved the few groups of her batch of demons with that sadistic grin plastered on her face…

His face paled…

Why did he find that look to be kind of hot? On her?

Was it a demon related trait?

'No!' He shook his head violently, squeezing his eyes shut. 'Stop! Don't start giving her dumb thoughts attention or she'll know!'

He was not a sadist… Neither was she!

He let his Devil-Slayer tattoo disappear from his arm before approaching the nice normal, 'not-in-Satan-Soul-form' Mirajane. He certainly liked his sweet girlfriend more than the dark temptress she could become… Though he certainly didn't min-

'Did the demons release a gas when they died or something!?' He growled to himself, clenching his fist tightly. He had spent a good long time trying to prove to everyone that he wasn't a pervert and he wasn't about to let all the progress he (hadn't) made die just because Mirajane knew how to push all of his buttons!

"Are you okay there, sweetie?" He heard Mirajane call, looking up he could see her eyes fixed onto him, his eyes widened at the familiar 'innocent' smile she had adorning her face. "You look a little red there."

An explosion behind her saw to destroying the last stragglers of the corrupted force…

Her 'smile' stretched a little wider…

'Okay, now I know you're doing this on purpose!' Was what he wanted to say, but all he actually ended up doing was stalking his way towards her before grabbing her by her slim shoulders and capturing her lips with his for the roughest kiss they'd probably ever shared.

Gray could feel her body freeze up at the sudden action only to completely melt a couple seconds later as his kiss actually registered in her brain, if anything, Mira had only given back as good as she got when she realised what was going on and could act on it; but Gray knew that he had won this round. His surprise attack had won him the day it seemed.

It wasn't what he wanted to do, nor was it something he had even expected he'd do; but was he complaining? No, not at all.

He pulled away eventually, getting a cute whine from Mirajane in the process. He momentarily remembered where they were and realised how weird they must have looked making out in the middle of a foul-smelling battlefield full of decaying demon flesh, but he quickly threw the thought into the metaphorical garbage dump before giving his girlfriend a half-hearted glare. He could see the slight glazed quality in each pool and grinned. That's what she gets for messing with the newest S-Class Mage!

"That was for being a tease." He said, giving her a smirk before lifting his fist up and lightly bopping her on top of her head, getting a cute yelp from her in the process. "And that was for trying to confuse me with your 'irony' talk."

He would have gave her another kiss to seal his victory in stone, but the sudden sight of the painfully large crocodile tears assaulted his vision, alongside them came the pitiful whimpering sounds from Mirajanes mouth. She stared at him with the most powerful kicked puppy look she could muster as the tears began to overflow from her eyes.

… He caved almost immediately, swiftly wiping the tears away and begging for her forgiveness moments after, all whilst remaining unaware of the victorious smirk the Take-Over Mage hid behind her hands.

"I-I'm sorry! Come on, please stop crying, I didn't really mean to do that I-it was jus- mmph!" Gray's incoherent babble was soon cut off by Mirajane's soft lips crashing against his, catching him off guard this time as he registered what was actually happening. Looking into her smug eyes he could see the complete and utter satisfaction laying beneath the surface, just visible enough for him to notice, but not enough for him to call her out on it.

With a low growl, he just responded the same way she had when he had been the winner those oh-so glorious moments ago. Though he could happily say that his height meant that it was far easier for him to dominate the kiss. So he simply did.

He pulled away, glaring at Mira with a huff. She was a dirty cheater!

A second later, he felt a fist painfully crash on the top of his head, almost sending him to the floor as he gasped in shock from the sheer force of the whack. Looking up with wide eyes, he could see the devious barmaid give him the widest of smiles.

'That isn't a bop! That's a full on smash over the head!' He cried mentally, ignoring the way she then cupped his face and forced him to look at her.

"Hehe~ and that was for not indulging your beautiful, loving girlfriend on a nice, deep line of conversation!"

"There's no irony there to begin with, woman!" He yelled pitifully, still wheezing form her fist.

"Oh?" She raised a small brow in response. "So you mean to tell me that you don't see any irony in how you, a Devil-Slayer currently finds himself dating a Demon who's a Take-Over Mage as they fight fish demons in a town called 'Finnsmouth'? A town that bares a similar name to the name of a town that held a cult devoted to a fish demon?"

"First of all!" Gray began, slightly offended at her statement. "YOU are no demon, you're a part of Fairy Tail! Second: You are no demon, you are a demon jailer! And lastly: Dagon isn't a demon, he's an Eldritch dark god or something!"

As he finished his tirade, he saw Mirajane giving him the happiest smile he'd ever seen on her face. He racked his brain trying to figure it out, he hadn't said anything everyone with more than two brain cells already knew, and if anything he had corrected her on her blunder regarding an old god. That wasn't exactly cause for smiles and laughter, but here she was, doing exactly that with no restraint… Hadn't she heard this before?

Suddenly, he felt her arms wrap around him in a loving embrace, burying her head into his (somehow naked?) chest as she snuggled into him, keeping an ever tightening grasp on him.

"W-What are you doing?"

She giggled… giggled!

Though she didn't reply, only further pulled him closer to her and Gray had to ignore the feeling of her chest squishing against him, though he could fight back the blush that invaded his cheeks.

Some time later, she finally released him, for which he was thankful for, he didn't know how much longer he could go without having his oxygen supply cut off.

"I knew I made a good choice picking you." She mumbled sweetly, though he could see her teasing smirk return.

And despite the sentence, he grinned back.

"Oh, so all I have to do is kiss you every now and then and that's all you need? I feel a little insulted."

Mira's eyes sparked, and he paled. Oh no.

"Oh you do now?~" She teased, walking back up to him, treading over the almost decayed demon corpse as she did so before standing way too close to him to the point that he could feel her breath on his neck as she tilted her head up to look him in the eye.

He gulped.

"Perhaps I need to make it up to yo-"

"STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP!" He shouted, turning away before sprinting back to the hotel room they'd rented out for the rest of their job, his face burning an atomic red as his figure disappeared over the horizon line.

Mirajane had to wonder how he made it that far so quickly…

Though her smirk turned devious as she began walking at a casual pace back to the hotel.

To think she'd have missed out on this wonderful relationship if Gray hadn't landed on Erza's cheesecake last year!

Fate was truly ironic.

In his attempt to hide from the red-headed demon, Gray found himself in the loving clutches of the Demon barmaid instead.

At least she could appreciate irony.

Hope that is up to your standards.

I also hope that tickles your nostalgia bone enough for you lads.

But as usual, leave a review with your thoughts and/ or your very own request and i'll get to it eventually.

See you next time,
