Supriiiiise~
First the sudden Star chapters, and now this.
I started talking about Fairy Tail with Petrus recently, who proof read this chapter btw, and I felt kind bad for suddenly ditching this story for a different one when I said I was gonna finish the arc. And after reaching a pretty important point in Total Loud Drama I thought I'd write a single chapter for this one. No harm in it after all.
Also, before you guys start reading, massive shout out to my good friend Marius Wales. The villain that's introduced in this arc, he came up with the name and even drew him so go check that and all his other stuff out. This dude is talented and overall just a really awesome guy.
So with all that said, hope you enjoy!
It was probably the worst thing Betty could have seen right now. Ever since she woke up Zane had been trying to tell Betty about the whole…demon slaughtering her people issue. And while Zane was indeed strong to the point where he could probably take said demon on and beat him, one thing Zane could say he sucked at was delivering bad news.
Heck, this wasn't just bad news. This was probably the worst news! How was he supposed to tell someone that they were both asleep for over 350 years, and that while they were asleep, they were the only ones alive of their entire race. And every time it seemed like he was about to get it out, Betty cut him off and he had to work up the might all over again.
Well…that problem seemed to have taken care of itself for better or for worse.
For when Betty made it into the throne room of the temple she called home, she found that it was littered with the skeletons of her people. And Zane was right behind her and saw the sight for himself. Betty fell to her knees as she continued to stare at the horrifying sight. No matter how much she wanted to or tried, she couldn't look away. It was as if some dark and mocking force was forcing her to stare at the remains of those she held dear.
"H-H-H-H-How d-d-did this h-h-h-happen…" Betty managed to squeak out. Hot tears quickly started building up and quickly falling down her eyes. What was going on in front of her? There was no mistaking it right? Those were skeletons all piled up in the throne room. And based around the dust on the bones and how decomposed everything was, it looked like they've been here for a long time. Possibly decades, maybe even longer than that!
But…it didn't make any sense. She was just asleep! Only about 10 hours at maxed passed for her! Her body was the proof! She was still an 11-year-old girl! Not some old broad! That much time couldn't have passed! It was impossible! It was…it was…it was…
Zane couldn't bear to see Betty like this. She was going through a full-on panic attack, not that he could blame it. The experience was outright traumatic, especially to one her age. No one deserved to go through this. "Betty…" Zane softly said as he walked up to Betty and put a hand on her shoulder. Even with this simple touch, Zane felt how much she was trembling. "I'm…I'm so sorry."
Betty was silent for a moment. Zane kept his hand softly on her shoulder, his tail limp and touching the ground. He could only imagine what Betty was going through right now. He may have lost his Aunt Lisanna, but Betty…Betty lost everything and everyone she ever knew.
"T-T-This is s-some sort of s-sick joke right…" This somehow pained Zane even more than he already was. Betty asked this with any hope that this was some sort of incredibly sick and dark joke that her friends were pulling on her.
Turning her head to Zane, tears continued to spill from her eyes as a smile was forced on her face. A fake smile to go with fake hope. "Right…" Zane's heart practically broke at seeing Betty like this. Despite the short time he knew the girl, he knew Betty was a super happy-go-lucky, funny and fun loving girl without a care in a world. And in an instant, her face and body language became horrified and somber. "Please...say this is a joke...that all of this fake...p-please….."
As much as he wanted to say that. To get that positive and happy Betty back. But he couldn't lie to her. As much as it would hurt her, it was the right thing to do and she deserved to know. "...No" Betty's face practically broke when Zane said this. Zane now had tears in his eyes as he broke the news to Betty. This was probably the hardest thing he's ever had to do in his life. "Betty...I'm...I'm so sorry. They're gone."
Betty was frozen. This...this couldn't be. But...it was true. And it explained why she never saw anyone anywhere. Not even at the light ball court. They were all gone...somehow, someway, everyone she knew was gone.
And she was all that was left of the Ozra people.
Zane suddenly watched as Betty snapped forward and began running into the throne room. "Betty wait!" The monkey tailed boy called out to the princess. Running after her, the Strauss boy saw that the inside of the throne room was even worse when you were in it then just looking inside.
Inside was where one could see all the true damage was. From what Zane could make out, the throne room was essentially the ruins of a fruitless fight. A struggle against Jaakuna that showed that the Ozra people stood no chance against Zeref's demon.
An evidence from all the broken weapons and armor, and rusty shields it was likely that these were the decaying skeletons of soldiers, most likely gone down protecting their queen. Zane winced a bit as he looked at the structure of the room. Honestly it was a miracle that this place hadn't caved in. The walls were cracked with whole chunks of it broken off, columns were completely obliterated, and the part the room was named after, the throne, was reduced to mere rubble.
Betty stopped when she was in the middle of the room. It was where she could take everything in. Every bone on the floor. Every crack in the room. And the destroyed throne where her mom would sit everyday with her right on her lap. She could almost see it. Her mother sitting on her throne. Guards stationed right next to her and her mother Brianna having that smile on her face that brought warmth and hope to everyone. "Mom…" Betty muttered with her broken voice. She reached out for the image of her mother, but when she rose her hand…the image disappeared. All that was left was a bunch of destroyed rocks and debris.
"No…" Zane snapped his head to Betty with widened eyes. He felt something. A sudden spike in power. A great one at that. And it was coming from…Betty? Her eyes were glued to the destroyed throne. A sign that it was truly gone. That everything was gone. And there was no getting it back. "No…No…No…"
"Betty…" Zane reached out for the girl, the spiking power level only getting bigger and bigger. And Zane could now say with complete certainty that Betty was the source of this power level. "Betty please calm-"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
It didn't take energy sensing skills like Zane to see that the power emitting from Betty was getting out of control. Suddenly dark pink magic erupted from Betty's body. The whole room started shaking as Betty's screams of sorrow echoed throughout the entire temple. Zane was nearly blown back from this. His eyes widened and teeth gritted as he tried to stay on his feet. 'T-This power…' Zane thought as he kept his eyes locked on Betty. The magical energy she was letting out into the area being overwhelming. 'It's…It's enormous!'
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Betty cried out as the power radiating off her only grew and grew. The tears coming out of her eyes being sent up instead of down due to her outburst of power. Soon enough Betty's form was almost entirely swallowed up by her own magical power, only an outline could be seen.
'What's happening?!' Zane yelled in his mind as he steeled his nerves and proceeded to go forward, managing to fight back against Betty's magic and go towards the girl. Zane then gasped as he looked at Betty's form. Specifically, around her eyes. Suddenly black lines, almost looking like running massacre, started to sprout from underneath her eyes. In a way looking like tear marks. 'She has to calm down! She can't control it! She's changing!"
Zane needed to put a stop to this and quick. He's heard about wizards unable to control their magical power. Either due to charms, magic increasing drugs, or simply raw emotions like Betty was experiencing right now. And it almost always ended badly, at best crippling a wizard or at worst…killing the wizard.
"Betty!" Zane called out to as he pushed further against the magical force. The closer he got the more it tried to push him away. He just couldn't believe how insane and overwhelming Betty's magic power was. Just moments earlier, he would say that Betty would probably match up to the average wizard. Certainly above average for her age showing she was a bit of a prodigy. But when it came to the wizards back at the guild, Betty would be around the strength of most of them. Not really someone that could manage a fight with Natsu, Gray, Laki, or him. Maybe Lucy though.
But now…now her magical power was starting to get into a league of its own. And it needed to be put to a stop before she ended up destroying herself. "Betty you have to calm down!" Zane called out to the princess once more as he stepped closer and closer to Betty. Though her magic tried to push him back, Zane was able to power through it. "PLEASE BETTY YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO ME! YOUR MAGIC IS GETTING TOO HIGH!"
But Betty didn't respond to Zane's words at all. The only thing she could hear was her own cries to sadness and agony. Everything was gone. Her home, her friends, and her mother. She was all alone. But suddenly she felt something touch her. Not only touch, but wrap around her. In a hug. But…who could be hugging her?
"Betty…" Of course, it was none other then Zane. The monkey tailed boy had managed to make it all the way to Betty and put his arms around her. The only way that Zane could think of to calm Betty down was to try and comfort her. While he could knock her out, that could potentially lead to more problems later down the line.
"Look…I know your in pain right now." Zane spoke softly to her. Due to her magical output, holding onto her was a great challenge, even a bit painful. But he could take the pain. Especially if it meant helping out a friend. "I can't imagine what it's like to lose everything like this…but I do know what it's like to lose someone close to you."
Suddenly Betty's eyes snapped out, a little bit of the marks that appeared under eyes disappearing. "I once lost someone too…my Aunt Lisanna." Zane spoke to her about his own experience in losing someone. It seemed to be working as he could her magic energy lowering a little bit. "I was heartbroken…it was awful. Someone I loved was gone and I was never going to get them back…that feeling can be so hard to live with sometimes, even now, I still miss her and would give anything to see her again. But even with her gone…I'm not alone. I still have my mom, Uncle Elf, and all my friends at my guild there for me…and you're not alone either. You may think you're alone right now but I'm here. I know we just met, I know we don't know each other all too well…but we can still be there for each other…please."
"…" Betty was silent. Tears still forming in her eyes…but now going down like they were supposed to. Her magical aura slowly disappearing and dying down until it completely disappeared. Her black tear marks also no longer present as well. Zane sighed in relief as he continued hugging Betty, her power level was back to normal and it seemed like she didn't have any sort of physical damage.
Emotional however…well you know what they say. Scars were ever lasting, and Betty just received a massive one. The eleven-year-old quickly clung to Zane and started sobbing into his shoulder. Zane would have held her closer and comforted her…if the room hadn't started shaking.
"What the?" Zane quickly looked around with his eyes soon widening at what he saw. All that magic Betty unleashed was far too much for the already damaged and aging room to handle. It was quickly starting to fall apart. "We need to get out of here!"
"Hu-Wha!" Despite her emotional turmoil, Zane had to get Betty out of here. The room was caving in. The throne room shaking with the walls and ceiling coming down. Betty, thankfully, was aware of the situation and was able to pull herself together enough to wrapped her arm, literally, around Zane's with the Strauss boy quickly running forward as big chunks of rock threatened to fall on them. Betty then looked up and gasp. "ZANE WATCH OUT!"
Zane looked up and narrowed his eyes as a large chunk of rock was falling down from the ceiling and was threatening to fall right in front of the exit and trap them in the room. But luckily for Zane, rocks were nothing more than target practice. "Dodon Ray!" Aiming a finger from his free hand at the falling chunk of stone, Zane's Dodon Ray easily pierced right through it and leaving a hole in the rock. And soon enough cracks started originating from the hole and it eventually was reduced to nothing but small chunks and pebbles. "Keep going! Almost there!"
Betty's heart was racing more than it ever had before. First she was going through a complete emotional crisis, unleashed magic power at levels she never dreamed of having, and was now running for her life. All of this happening in less than fifteen minutes!
The rooms rumbling only got worse as they got closer to the exit. Debris falling all around the place. Even the floor below them was starting to crack and give out a bit. "Alright! When I say three, wrap both of your arms around me ok!" Zane told Betty as he looked back to her. Betty, whose face was still filled with tears despite their situation, nodded while heavily breathing. "One…two…THREE!" Doing as he said, Betty stretched both of her arms and wrapped them tightly around Zane. The Strauss boy quickly jumped up and surrounded himself in a white aura as he flew towards the exit.
Now in the air and with his power essentially acting as a shield that quickly disintegrated any rocks that threatened to fall on them. And soon enough, the two flew right through the exit. Zane instantly hit the breaks which resulted in them falling to the ground on the pathway connected to the main spiral. Betty retracted her arms to normal length after unwrapping them from Zane. Both kids looked up and back into the room. They got out of there just in time as more and more large stones fell from above, one even falling right in front of the entrance of the throne room and sealing it off. While Zane was sure he could move and destroy them, something told him he'd see nothing but a wreck zone.
"Oh geez…" Zane breathed heavily. His heart heavily beating due to both the emotional experience and the trilling experience of escaping what was essentially a cave in. "Looks like we got out just in time right Betty?" Zane didn't get a response. "Betty?" Looking to where the girl was, Zane gave a sad frown as he saw Betty leaning against the boarder of the hallway, curled up into a ball, sniffling as tears fell from her eyes.
"What happened…" Betty asked Zane without looking up to look at him. The 11-year-old had a feeling now that Zane knew more than he was letting on. I mean she's never seen him before and then she finds out all…this. And the only one's left are him and her with him being the reason she woke up in the first place. There was some connection. "I'm sure you know. Please. Tell me what happened to everyone…"
Zane sighed as he sat in front of Betty, leaning against the boarder on the opposite side to her. Guess he better spill it. Betty deserved the full truth and nothing but the full truth. "So…when you woke up what did it feel like? About eight hours, maybe ten or so have passed?" Betty nodded her head. She just felt like she took a rather deep sleep. "Well…the truth is…you've been asleep for over 350 years."
"W….What…" Betty's entire world felt like it got thrown upside down. Over…350 years. That couldn't be right! It was impossible! She shouldn't even be alive if that much time passed! While she was unaware of the max life span of people, she knew it was a tad shorter than that. "B-B-But how is that possible?"
Zane sighed as he rubbed the back of his head. Geez he really sucked at these kinds of talks. He had no idea how Master Makarov does this time and time again. Years of experienced Zane assumed. Welp, time for him to start doing this stuff too. "Ok first I should tell you why I'm even here." Zane figured that was a good start. Might make explaining this a bit easier. "So I was working on a project back home, pretty big one too, needed gravity lacrima's to get the whole thing up and running. The only problem was a power source. Something like that needs something strong to keep it going so…"
"Let me guess." Betty finished for him as she saw where this was going a mile away. "The Diamond Heart?"
"Yeeeeeeeah…" Zane slowly and awkwardly stated as he averted his eyes away from Betty. He pretty much fully admitted to coming to sorta take her people's source of power. Betty gave Zane a blank look making the Strauss boy laugh nervous. "Ok in my defense…I didn't think anyone was using it anymore. According to most history books, this place and your people, including you, mysteriously disappeared over three centuries ago. Heck, we're kind of underwater in a lake right now."
Betty's eyes widened at the information. So not only was her kingdom destroyed but under water as well. With all that combined, she supposed it would make sense why someone would go for the Diamond Heart. "I guess that's fair…" Betty put a hand to the back of her head and chuckled a bit. But it was a hollow chuckle that didn't have the same energy as the laughs before she found out about the incident. She soon went back to sighing as the 11-year-old looked back down. "So…do you know how we disappeared?"
"Yeah…Yeah I do actually." This was probably gonna be the hardest part of the talk. Especially considering who told him about all the messed-up stuff that happened here and what caused the destruction of the Ozra kingdom. "See, when I first dived down here, the temple here kinda…sucked me in. When I woke up, a voice was speaking to me and there was this orb leading me through some rooms to see if I was 'worthy' enough to come and help you out. And it turns out that orb was…the spirit of Queen Brianna…"
"Mom…" Betty snapped back towards Zane. Her eyes were widened and her pupils dilated as she quickly stretched her arms over to Zane and grabbed his shirt and pulled herself closer to him to where their eyes were only a few inches away from each other. "You've seen my mom?"
"Well…I saw her ghost. She was the one who dragged me in here." Zane explained to her as Betty pushed herself away from Zane and put herself back to where she was sitting. Her mom was…still here. Maybe not in the normal way but her spirit was still in the temple. Maybe there was a chance she could see her again. "And she was the reason you're still alive right now."
"R-Really?" Betty stuttered a bit as she never took her eyes off Zane and listened to every single word he said.
"Tell me…do you know about the black wizard Zeref?" Zane asked as he got closer to telling her about the tragedy that took place here. Betty thought about this a bit and felt like she has heard the name before once or twice. "Well…over 300 years ago one of his demons invaded your kingdom." Betty's blood ran cold. That…explains everything. The reason why everyone was gone. One of Zeref's demons. "It…was a massacre. Brianna told me that her people didn't stand a chance. Jaakuna was just too powerful. When he reached the temple, your mom took you to a special secret chamber. She put you in a cryostasis chamber to keep you safe and preserve you."
"Once you were safe she took it upon herself to deal with Jaakuna, she managed to seal him away in the deepest part of the temple. It…cost her everything but according to her she was able to successfully seal him up. And so she wants me to finally finish him off." And with that Zane finished his explanation on everything that happened. Betty knew everything, at least everything he knew. And she was taking it pretty hard.
The 11-year-old princess of a ruined kingdom proceeded to curl up into a ball and sobbed into her knees. Her mother pretty much sacrificed herself to protect her. That was just like her. Brianna always put others before herself, especially when it came to Betty. But now it got herself killed. Just because of some stupid demon created by some sick sociopath of a wizard. "Mom…I miss you…" Betty cried as small puddles of her tears fell to the ground.
Betty had no idea what to do now. Even if Zane did in fact completely destroy Jaakuna, what then for her? She had no where to go. It's not like she could keep living down here. And she had no idea what the outside world was like. Tons could change in a few centuries. "W-W-What d-d-do I d-do…" Betty sobbed with her voice completely broken. She was completely lost.
Zane heard this and lowered his head in sympathy. But in doing so, he spotted something. The golden Fairy Tail mark on his arm. His guild mark. Zane found his eyes locked onto it. And as he looked, he remembered the past of many of his friends. Natsu came to Fairy Tail after his adoptive dragon dad disappeared. Aunt Erza once told him she came to the guild after losing her way with no where to go. And most relating to Betty, Gray coming to Fairy Tail after Deliora destroyed both his home town leaving him as the only survivor, and soon losing his master after she sacrificed herself to freeze Deliora in the Iced Shell.
Almost everyone in Fairy Tail had some sort of tragic past. Even him with his parents abandoning him in the worlds as a baby. The guild always seemed to be a place for people that have nothing to gain something. A family. A family they can laugh with, cry with, fight with, and argue with. A great big family that would always be there for them.
Something that would be perfect for Betty.
"Betty… " Zane stood up as he gently took one of Betty's hands. Betty looked up at Zane, her eyes red and puffy as tears continued to spill from them, and saw the young Strauss giving her a soft smile filled with…hope? "I wanna ask ya something. Do you know how Wizard Guilds work?"
"Guilds?" Betty repeated as she tilted her head a bit. Despite her sadness and grief, that word stuck with her for some reason. It sounded kinda nice even. It had that same feeling of hope that Zane's smile had. "I…don't think so. Why?"
"Heh, and you said I was the one missing out with light ball." Zane joked a bit to hopefully lighten the mood. The monkey tailed boy released Betty's hand and sat down next to her. The smile never leaving his face, Zane looked up as he spoke again. "Guilds are easily the greatest thing in the world. They're a place where wizards of all kinds with all different types of magic gather up."
The more she heard about guilds the more her curiosity grew. "What kind of magic?" Betty asked with a sniffle as she wiped her eyes clean of tears. She always loved magic, maybe hearing this might cheer her up a bit.
"Man I can't even begin to count!" Zane said with an enthusiastic tone. Looks like his cheer up plan was working on her. "Fire, Ice, Wood, Requip, Celestial, Smoke, Light, Take Over, Lightning, Solid Script, Aera, Picto. And that's what I can name off the top of my head. That's only the very tip of the ice berg there's so much more than that!"
"Wooooow…" Betty let out in an amazed tone. The ones Zane named are more then she's ever seen or heard of. And there was even more then that! Incredible!
Zane nodded his head as he smirked at Betty. "But there's even more to it then that." Zane told her making Betty's eyes widened even more. "A guild is more then just a place where wizards can show off their magic or get work. We're something much bigger than that. We're a family. That's what the true essence of Fairy Tail is. We're a great big happy family."
"A…family." Betty repeated, her heart feeling a bit warmer at this information.
"Correct!" Zane said as he showed off his guild mark to Betty. Despite no light shimmering on it, Zane's mark seemed to shine a bit. Like his own pride of Fairy Tail was making the golden mark shine and glow. "This mark here. This is the mark of Fairy Tail. The mark that binds us all together as a family. When one of us laugh we all laugh. When one of us cry, we all cry. That's what Fairy Tail is about. We're always there for each other through thick and thin. You'll always have someone there for you, no matter what!"
Betty watched as Zane raised his right hand up while sticking his pointer finger high into the sky. Everything he described about Fairy Tail…it was amazing. A giant group of powerful wizards grouped up as a big happy family. It almost sounded too good to be true. "T-T-That's…amazing Zane." Betty said as she found herself looking at the gesture Zane was making with his hand. "But why are you telling me this."
Zane proceeded to lower his hand and look down at Betty. The smirk turned into a soft smile as he held his hand out for Betty to grab. "You might think you have no where to go." Zane began as Betty lightly gasped. "You might think that there's no hope. While it's true that everyone you know is gone…you're still here. Your mother saved you. And I know for a fact that she wants you to live a full and happy life. And there's an old saying, when one door closes another opens, leading to something new and unknown. Now…I wanna offer for not just me, but for all of us at Fairy Tail to be that door…"
"Wait…" Betty gasped loudly as she filled in the pieces in her head. Was Zane…
"Come back with me to Fairy Tail."
Betty couldn't believe what was happening. Zane, a boy she had only met just today, was doing so much for her. First he woke her up, then he promised to vanquish the demon that had destroyed everything in the first place, and now he was offering her to take her back to his guild. To his family. Not only take her there, but offering her to let her become a part of it. "You…You really mean it." Betty needed to make sure Zane was serious. That he wasn't just pulling her leg.
Zane nodded his head, nothing but complete certainty flowing through him. "You heard me right Betty." Zane told her as he took her hand and pulled her up to her feet. The Strauss boy looked right in her eyes and said. "As I said before, Fairy Tail is a family. And lots of my family members have gone through the same pain you have. Heck, one of my closet friends Gray even lost everything he had to one of Zeref's demons Deliora. So if you'll let us, we want you to share your pain with us. So we can get through it together. What do you say Betty? Wanna be a Fairy Tail Wizard?"
Betty found her heart racing. Her world turned upside down again…but this time for the better. Yes, the Ozra and their kingdom was gone. But she was still here. Her mother saved her, gave her this chance at another life. A different life filled with new things and new people. New people like Zane…and all the wizards at Fairy Tail. Not just a guild…but a family. Betty found her face quickly filling up with tears again, but these ones filled with hope.
The 11-year-old lunged at Zane and hugged him with her arms and legs. She buried her head into the monkey tailed boy's shoulder and cried into it as Zane patted and rubbed her back. "Thank you…" Betty cried with a shaky smile on her face. "Thank you so much."
"Anything for family." Zane told her, already treating her like a Fairy Tail wizard. She may not have officially been in the guild yet, but he knew they would accept her. And even now, Zane could tell she had the heart of a true Fairy Tail wizard. It was like she was made for it.
After a few more minutes and hugging, the two finally separated. Zane smiled at the Ozra princess as she proceeded to rub her hands over her eyes to try and dry them off and get her face back to normal. "So…" Zane began as Betty finished. "You gonna be ok?"
"I think so." Betty said quietly, a small smile on her face. While she was still taking things hard, a part of her told her that things would be ok. That she would be able to get through this. Especially with the help of Fairy Tail. "I'm…I'm always gonna miss everyone here. And it's gonna be hard not having them anymore but…my mom gave everything up to protect me. I can't just give into despair…it would break her heart."
"That's the spirit." Zane nodded his head before closing his eyes and looking down. "Ya know, our guilds master, I like to call him grandpa, Makarov told me this once. That all things must die eventually. But even though they aren't with us anymore doesn't mean that they are gone. They will always be there for you, watching over you, and cheering you on. So long as we hold them close to our hearts, then they will be with us through everything."
"...Yeah." A single tear came down Betty's eye as she looked at the blocked entrance to the throne room. "I guess they will be."
Zane nodded at Betty, knowing that she was thinking of her mother. But speaking of Queen Brianna, Zane remembered there was still one more thing to do that she asked him. Destroying the very being that did all this. "So hey, the Deliora demon." Zane began getting Betty to look at her. "The one that destroyed everything my friend Gray held dear…a little while ago we encountered it on an island known as Galuna."
Betty flinched a bit at this. Zane actually encountered a demon of Zeref's before? And lived! "What happened?" She dared to ask.
"…I killed it." Zane revealed making Betty gasp. Zane…killed Deloria? He had the power to kill a demon.
"And Jaakuna is next."
Soon enough, the main spiral connecting the hallway to the various rooms of the temple was heading down. All the way down to the deepest chambers. The place where Jaakuna was sealed away. "Alright, here's the plan." Zane told Betty as they continued going down and down. "We don't know completely what we're getting into. Supposedly he's still sealed so you stay behind me and we'll see whatever is holding him. I'll blast it with a full power beam and destroy him while he's trapped."
"Alright…" That was the only response Betty gave as she looked down. Zane looked to her and frowned a bit.
"I can tell what's going on over there…don't give into your anger." Betty flinched as she turned to Zane giving her a serious look. "It's true anger can be a source of power. I should know. But in the way you're feeling it, it could easily mess with your mind." Zane then softened up and gave her a reassuring smile. "I promise I'll get your revenge. Then once we get to Fairy Tail, we'll have a life of endless adventure."
Betty took in all of Zane's words and managed to put a small smile on her face. "I'd like that." Not long after the 11-year-old said that, the two kids felt a bump as they were going down, leading them to look down. "We're here…" They were at the very bottom of the spiral. The hallway they were on connected to a path way leading to a door. But the thing about this door is that it looked relatively normal compared to the other doors Zane had seen in the temple. It looked like a door you'd find in any home. Rectangular and with a knob.
Both Betty and Zane looked at each other and nodded before heading towards the door. It was a simple matter of walking up to the door and turning the knob to open it. What they saw through the door was a stair case leading even further down. And with no lights at all. It was a stair case leading into darkness. Zane put on a serious look as he narrowed his eyes downward. "I can sense a dark presence down there." Zane stated as he lifted up a hand and formed a bright energy ball to use as a light source. "Let's tread carefully."
Betty gulped a bit in fear as they headed down the stairs. Zane was having some serious déjà vu as he and Betty went down the stairs leading to the area Jaakuna was located. It reminded of the time him and Laki went to that strange lab for a job. Zane shuddered a bit at the memory. It was easy to tell some rather messed up and even horrific things happened in that lab. And now he was going down to fight a demon.
Oh how far he has come.
"I think I see the bottom." Betty said as she looked past Zane. Despite the light source the Strauss boy provided, it was still plenty dark. But narrowing her eyes, she could somewhat make out a door a little further down.
"Let's see." Zane and Betty then sped up their descent down and started running down the stair case. Soon enough Betty's statement proved to be true. The two kids found that in front of them was a door similar to the one they came in from. Putting his hand to the door, Zane closed his eyes and concentrated on his energy sensing.
After a few moments, Zane's eyes snapped open as he gasped. He took a step away from the door and glared at it a bit. "Yeah…that's the place." Zane quietly said as Betty looked to the door and gulped a bit. "He's in there…on three."
"Y-Yeah…" Betty nodded as she gripped Zane's shoulder tightly. She would follow Zane's plan on him taking the lead. Even though Jaakuna was sealed, they rather play things safe in the off chance something went down.
"Ok…" Zane put his hand on the knob as he counted down. "One…two…three!" As quick as he could, Zane opened the door but he and Betty found themselves unable to rush this. The reason being a bright light shined on them once they opened the door causing them to wince and backup a bit.
They had to wait a bit for their eyes to adjust, but once they did they both looked in the room and couldn't help but gasp in amazement. Walking inside, they got a full look and feel for the room. It was brightly lit, especially compared to the rest of the temple. In fact, the light shining down on them almost felt like warm rays of sun.
The room was a perfect square. The area they were walking on being boarded by crystal blue water. It was almost like an indoor oasis. "Wow…" Zane let out, forgetting for a second the demon that's sealed in the room. "This is incredible."
"Zane…look up there." Betty's words got the Strauss boys attention as he looked to Betty and saw her pointing up at the ceiling. Looking to where she was pointing, Zane gasped at what he saw. Levitating near the ceiling and providing light to the room…was the diamond heart. "The power source…"
"The Diamond Heart…" Zane muttered as he looked up at it. The heart was incredible. Even after over three centuries it was still powering this entire place. Filled with probably endless magic power. "It's amazing." Zane found his eyes stuck on the heart. This was what he came for, the thing that would power his gravity chamber and take his training to a whole new level.
But that was for later. For now, he still had another mission he would label as more important. "First things first." Zane told himself as he shook his head and took his eye off the Heart. "Where's Jaakuna?" Both Zane and Betty looked around the room trying to find to see what or where Brianna sealed Jaakuna.
Suddenly Zane found a snap of strange energy hit his senses. It was…dark. Vile. Just flat out destructive even. "Zane?" Betty looked to Zane and saw him in some sort of trance. "Zane are you ok."
Zane kept his focus on the vile energy. Turning his head towards it, Zane's eyes widened as he finally spotted something. At the very end of the room, in a straight line from where they came, was a staff. This staff had a shadowy aura around it. The staff was a little shorter than the cane Master sometimes uses and was mostly made of stone. The top of it even looked like a dragon with its wings bordering the rest of the staff. The parts of the staff that weren't stone was some sort of glass-like material. And inside this glass-like material was a dark essence.
Jaakuna.
"There is it." Zane said as he and Betty both glared at the staff. Inside it contained the demon that Brianna gave up her life to seal. Good thing that he was still sealed. It's gonna make this job a lot easier. "Time to waste this bastard."
Betty nodded her head. She was gonna enjoy seeing this demon eradicated.
Zane took a deep breath as he got into his famous position. He wanted to make sure he would destroy the demon inside the staff in one blow without giving it a chance to escape. He was gonna have to put a lot of power into this one. "Ka…me…"
Betty watched as a blue sphere of energy started to form in between Zane's hands. Her eyes couldn't help but fixate on it. Not only was it a type of magic she's never seen before, but the power it radiated was spectacular.
"Ha…me…" The sphere in Zane's hand grew and grew as he charged it up. But as he was charging it…the staff started to react to it. Zane didn't notice it, but the shadowy aura around it started to grow and go a little wild.
Betty's eyes widened as she looked at the staff. It even started shaking! This…can't be good. "Zane! Look!" Betty tried to call out to the monkey tailed boy and inform him of what was going on with the staff and-
SMASH!
"Huh?" Zane and Betty said in unison. Zane lost his focus and the Kamehameha in his hand disappeared. Possibly the worst thing that could have happened, happened. The staff broke. Both Zane and Betty's eyes widened in horror as they watched the dark essence spill onto the floor. The shadowy aura surrounding the dark liquid as it spread out.
But it seemed nothing had happened. The liquid remained unmoving on the floor after it spilled and spread out on the floor a bit. The shadowy aura simply remained around it and didn't look like it was gonna do anything. "Sooooo…is that it?" Zane awkwardly said as he and Betty continued to stare at it. Once again, it didn't really seem to do anything. "Hm, guess being sealed for all this time really did a number on the guy. Ah well, makes things easier for us! Time to-"
WHOOSH!
"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!"
"ZANE!" Betty called out to as she was suddenly forced back. The unmoving dark liquid suddenly zoomed at lightning fast speeds towards the two. Specifically, towards Zane. Zane found the dark liquid swirling around his body with the shadowy aura trying to engulf him.
"JAAKUNA!" Zane yelled as the demon's essences tried to cover him. Growling, Zane fought back as he increased his aura, a milky white aura covering him. Thankfully that did the job as all the liquid splattered around the area they were in. Taking some deep breaths, Zane wiped his forehead before powering down. "Phew, that was a close one."
"Uh, might wanna look at this." Betty squeaked a bit in fright. The dark liquid didn't remain still and splattered around for long. Suddenly both kids watched as all the liquids moved across the floor and a few yards away from Zane and formed into a large perfectly round puddle. Betty started shaking a bit. But something ended up in the corner of her eye and was bizarre enough to draw the girl's complete attention. "ZANE YOUR SHADOW!"
"What? My shadow?" Zane repeated as he looked to his shadow. Zane was taken aback to say the least. His shadow suddenly started moving around like it was water. Ripping and moving around erratically…until it was completely ripped from his being. "What's going on?!" They both watched as Zane's shadow moved across the floor.
And was absorbed into the puddle of dark liquid.
Cue: Mephiles' Whisper
Once Zane's shadow was absorbed into the puddle…something emerged from it. Zane. But it looked quite different from the true Zane. Both Betty and Zane watched in shock as a copy of the Strauss boy emerged from the dark…no…was formed from the dark liquid as evident by the liquid disappearing once he was formed. This version of Zane had green eyes with slit pupils, his face lacking a mouth. His skin was extremely pale boarding on white. His hair was a duller shade then Zane's and even his tail matched it in being a dull black color. Despite lacking his weighted cloths at the time, for some reason they seemed to form on the copy. This Zane's wrist bands, belt, and undershirt were a grayish-black color with his gi shirt and pants a greyish-blue.
The copy Zane remained still, unmoving. Almost like a dead body standing up right. Zane and Betty were silent as they stared at this unnatural copy formed from the demon essence. But just then, it moved. The Copy Zane moved around its fingers individually, as if testing them out. "I…live?" Despite not having a mouth, the Copy Zane could speak. His voice was deep, intimidating, and sent shivers down the two kid's spines.
They watched as the Copy Zane moved around its various body parts more. The movements were limp, seemingly lacking energy. Zane and Betty watched as the copy limped towards the edge of the platform they were on, almost moving like a zombie. Once it reached the edge, he looked at his reflection in the water to get a complete look at his body. "A child's body…" He said as he looked over himself in the water. He touched his face, moved his tail around, and took deep breaths. "Normally this would agitate me but this body is…unique. Different. Interesting."
"Hey!" The Copy Zane suddenly stood up straight at the voice yelling to him. Slowly moving his head, the copy spotted Zane and Betty looking at him. Zane was giving a fierce glare with his fist tightened and Betty was hiding behind Zane and giving the copy a hate filled look while trembling violently. "Yeah I'm talking to you! What's the big deal copying me!"
"Ah, so your form is the one I took." The Copy Zane said as he started walking towards the duo. Zane got in a defensive position, ready to protect him and Betty at a moments notice. "I must thank you for supplying me with a physical form boy. Being sealed for all those years had destroyed my physical form. I can't even remember what I looked like before. But I suppose that's just the hand life deals one sometime."
"Enough of the chit chat!" Zane snapped as he stomped a foot forward. "Tell me what your deal is right now!"
"Hm, where my manners. I suppose after freeing me I owe you that much." The copy Zane tilted his head quite a bit to the right. Even his movements were rather frightening. Like a demonic zombie. "You may call me…"
"Jaakuna."
End Music
Zane narrowed his eyes at the demon. So this was Jaakuna. Maybe not in his original body but that was definitely his essence that surrounded Zane and stole the Strauss boy's shadow. Meanwhile Betty felt her heart stop. Him…he was the one. Standing right in front of her was the demon responsible for wiping out everything and everyone she knew.
"Yeah kinda guessed that one." Zane stated as he calmed himself down with his fingers twitching a bit. He had to remain calm and on his feet. This demon was no joke. Based on what Zane was sensing, he would assume that this demon was probably as powerful as Deloria. Maybe even more! This fight was gonna be a tough one. But in typical Zane fashion, his blood was telling him that would be a good thing.
"You…" Betty muttered a single word. Her pupils incredibly dilated as she never took her eyes off Jaakuna.
"Hm, and who might you be?" Jaakuna asked as he tilted his head in the other direction to look at Betty. Looking closely at her, Jaakuna quickly recognized her. That appearance, those cloths, no doubt about it. "Ah yes I remember you now. You're the princess of this kingdom. Queen Brianna's daughter correct? That woman caused me quite the headache you know."
"AND YOU KILLED HER!" Betty snapped as she started rotating her arm at rapid speeds. "I'LL MAKE YOU PAY!" Betty then launched her fist right towards Jaakuna, her arm stretching out and rocketing towards the demon at high speeds.
"Betty wait! Stop!" Zane tried to call out to the 11-year-old old.
"How amusing." Betty gasped as her rage turned to fear. Jaakuna had effortless caught her fist in his own. And his grip was tight. No matter how much she tried to pull her fist back, she couldn't escape the demon's grip. Jaakuna then used his other arm to grab the stretchy limb and pulled on it with incredible strength.
"BETTY!" Zane called out as Betty was pulled towards Jaakuna.
Betty couldn't do anything to fight against Jaakuna. Once she was pulled towards him, the demon grabbed her by the neck. Betty tried to struggle free but it was a fruitless effort. "Chaos Magic." Jaakuna began as he placed a hand on Betty's chest. "Plaga Tenebris." A magic circle suddenly appeared on Betty and the girl found herself going limp with her vision going black.
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!" Zane screamed in horror as he gave Jaakuna a completely enraged look. "YOU BASTARD!"
However Jaakuna simply showed his free hand to Zane. "Calm yourself child, she's not dead." Jaakuna told the monkey tailed child making him a bit surprised. "At least not yet. Excuse me for a moment but I must finish up my genocide. Leaving a task unfinish simply leaves me unsatisfied."
Zane quickly felt his anger rising again as he started running at Jaakuna. "Like hell I'm gonna let you!" Jaakuna looked to Zane and barely reacted in time as the child sent a fist towards him. But Zane did manage to barley land the hit as his fist grazed the demon's cheek, leaving a small cut that a single drop of blood fell from.
"Hmmm…that's new." Jaakuna wiped the blood off his cheek and looked at it. Something he's never seen before. His own blood. "You've done something to me that no one else has child. Caused me pain."
Zane looked back at Jaakuna and rubbed a finger under his nose. "What can I say." Zane cracked his neck as he got ready for a fight. "I'm full of surprises. And unless you wanna see more of them, I suggest you put my new guildmate down."
"Is this the path you truly wish to take child?" Jaakuna asked Zane as he let his grip on Betty go but kept the unconscious girl floating in the air with his magic. "I'm in a rather pleasant mood. Especially with you in giving me your shadow to use for my form. I'll grant you the rare opportunity and let you go free. I'll kill the girl. And with any luck, our pathways will never have to cross again."
Zane narrowed his eyes harshly at Jaakune as he entered a fighting stance. "I couldn't care less about the shadow thing or not." Zane told the demon as he tightened his fist. "But we both know I'm not about to let Betty go like that."
"…No, you're not are you." Jaakuna then telekinetically threw Betty against the wall. With the wave of his finger, some of the stone morphs on the wall and formed shackles around the 11-year-old's wrist and ankles keeping her pinned to the wall. "Very well then. We shall battle for her life. I win, you both die. You win, she lives."
"Fine by me!" Zane yelled as he blew some steam out of his nose. "Let's go!"
Jaakuna made the first move. The demon speed towards Zane and tried to strike the Strauss boy with a solid downward chop. But Zane was able to block the move with his arm leading Jaakuna to use his other arm to try and land a punch to the 12-year-old's face. But in a twist of karma, Zane managed to catch Jaakuna fist in a tight grip.
Zane then lifted Jaakuna off the ground and proceeded to throw the demon into the wall at the end of the room. The entire lower level shook as Jaakuna made impact. A large crater forming on the wall with the demon smack dab in the middle. "It looks like my assumptions were correct." Jaakuna muttered as Zane smirked at him. "I may indeed have myself a challenge."
"Lux Tenebris!" Removing himself from the wall, Jaakuna landed back down at the platform and aimed his right pointer finger at Zane. A magic circle appeared as the demon started firing rainbow colored beams of light at Zane. But the Strauss boy was quick to react and dodge all the attacks that were sent at him.
With the only thought on his mind being saving Betty, Zane kept his A-Game up as he dodged attack after attack. It was clear that Jaakuna wasn't letting up, so putting two fingers to his head, Zane focused in on Jaakuna's energy as he used instant transmission. Jaakuna's eyes widened a bit as Zane disappeared only for the boy to appear right in front of him and land a solid blow to the face.
Jaakuna was pushed back a great deal and landed near the edge of the platform with his front-half landing on the floor. Zane back flipped away as the demon started to push himself off the floor. "You…You…" Jaakuna growled as he stood back up. "I'll make you suffer for that!"
Both Zane and Jaakuna charged at each other at the same time, both going at top speed. When they closed in on each other, Jaakuna attempted to land a right hook on Zane with the boy ducking under the punch. When the demon went in with his left arm Zane flipped over it and landed behind Jaakuna. Jaakuna turned back at Zane only for the 12-year-old to disappear and reappear instantly next to Jaakuna.
Showing off his speed, Zane proceeded to zoom all around the demon. Appearing in one spot before disappearing to another. Growling, the demon quickly sped up and chased after Zane. The two matching their speed against each other, Zane quickly came to a sudden stop before turning around and lunging at Jaakuna. The Zane copy tried to land a punch but the Fairy Tail Wizard once again ducked under it and kicked his foot under Jaakuna's feet to send him off the ground.
Trying to regain his balance, Jaakuna caught himself before he hit the floor. Zane used this moment to try and charge at the demon and land another hit on him, but Jaakuna quickly jumped out of the way to avoid it. Zane smirked as he hit his tail against the ground and used it to give a boost to his jump and made his way to Jaakuna and landed a swift kick to his chest.
Jaakuna grunted in pain as he held the spot Zane hit. That kick did a lot more damage then the demon thought. He's gotta stop underestimating this child. Despite his age he was in a league of his own. Zane wanted to keep the pressure on Jaakuna and quickly changed direction and flew towards the demon intending on landing some more blows, but Jaakuna responded by bringing both of his fist together and slamming them down on Zane's head.
Zane was sent downward and Jaakuna was going to use this opportunity to knee the monkey tailed boy in the chest as he was falling. Zane suddenly caught himself on the knee, surprising Jaakuna, and proceeded to use his own knee to strike Jaakuna's Hough. Zane didn't let the demon get a chance to recover as he proceeded to unleash a flurry of blows against Jaakuna's chest and kept piling on the damage.
"Exitium…Chao!" Jaakuna's body suddenly unleashed a powerful wave of dull green magic energy that spread all through out the room. Zane was forced to cease his strikes and crossed his arms in front of his face to protect himself from the attack. The Strauss boy was sent back but managed to keep his feet to the ground and avoid getting blown away.
"RAAAAAAHHH!" Zane let out a battle cry as he and Jaakuna clashed once again. To the untrained eye, the two looked like blurs crashing into each other. In actuality, Jaakuna was trying to land blows against Zane. Keeping all of his fingers straight and connecting to each other, the demon constantly jabbed Zane as the Strauss boy blocked each hit with an arm.
Jaakuna then fell back as he jumped away before jumping straight into the air. Zane followed suit and jumped after his copy and once he was at face level with him, Zane did a 360 spin and elbowed Jaakuna right in the cheek before falling up with an axe kick. With the demon dazed, Zane then sent him back down to the ground with a strong roundhouse to the shoulder.
Jaakuna managed to land on his hands and flip back and avoiding crashing into the ground. With Zane in front of him at a decent distance, Jaakuna let out a battle cry as he charged at the Fairy Tail Mage. When Jaakuna attempted to strike Zane with a hammer fist, Zane vanished from sight and reappeared right behind Jaakuna. "Kai-O-Ken!" Zane shouted as a red aura covered him.
"Kai-O-Wha-ARRGH!" Zane immediately rushed Jaakuna with yet another flurry of punches to the chest region. With Kai-O-Ken activated, Zane's strikes were much faster and more powerful, leaving less of a chance for Jaakuna to escape it.
With each blow sending Jaakuna back, once he was halfway through the platform, Zane jumped up a little and sent a barrage of kicks to Jaakuna's face. Finishing up with a hook kick to Jaakuna's nose, Zane deactivated Kai-O-Ken as Jaakuna was nearly sent off the boarder of the platform and into the water.
Despite lacking a mouth, it was clear that Jaakuna was heavily breathing. This child has did more damage to him in such a short time span then any other wizard had managed to do to him before. "Now you've done it…" Jaakuna growled as he wiped some blood coming out his nose. "You've done what few had managed before with any demon. Invoke their true rage."
"Hmph, what does that mean you're gonna throw a temper tantrum or something?" Zane question as he rose his fist and got ready to duke it out again. Despite using Kai-O-Ken, Zane had gotten rather used to it. At least the lowest multiplier that is so it didn't really slow him down. "Why not save yourself the trouble and just quit already, save yourself the bruises and embarrassment."
"…" Jaakuna was silent, but Zane narrowed his eyes at him as he took a different position. Spreading his legs apart, his arms straight out and close to his body, Zane's eyes widened a bit as he sensed an increase in power. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" Let out a roar of power as rainbow colored magic energy started radiating off his body chaotically. "CHAOS AETERNUM!"
Zane kept glaring at Jaakuna. He felt the demon's power level increase with the spell. Jaakuna's muscles bulked up a little bit as veins started to appear on them. The demon's eyes glowing as the rainbow aura changed to a dull green. "You're using chaos magic." Zane stated as the entire room shook from Jaakuna's power up. "It was forbidden a long time ago. It's powerful but it can't be controlled. It'll go haywire on you at any time."
"Hehehehe." Jaakuna let out a dark chuckle as he kept his eyes on Zane. "Maybe for you humans, but we demons are chaos itself. Creations of Zeref to destroy this world. Chaos will not turn on you if you embrace it. And I have."
"So you say." Zane said as he got into a fighting position. "But let's see you put your money where your mouth is."
"Glady." Jaakuna said as he finished his power up. The two went at it again and ran towards each other. Jaakuna spread his arm out and attempted a horizontal chop but Zane quickly flipped over the arm and landed behind Jaakuna. But suddenly Jaakuna disappeared and reappeared right behind Zane. Zane gasped and looked back as Jaakuna reared his fist back. "DIE!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Zane yelled in pain as Jaakuna landed a punch right in the middle of Zane's back. The Strauss boy was went crashing right into the wall, soon falling off and landing in the water.
Jaakuna took a few deep breaths as he watched the scene in satisfaction. "Finally, little brat." Jaakuna grumbled before turning to the still unconscious Betty stuck to the wall. "Now to deal with the last of those Ozra people."
"Kame…"
"What?!" Jaakuna gasped as he heard the gurgled voice. Zane's voice…was coming from underwater.
"Hame…"
"That's impossible!" That strike should have killed Zane! It was a direct hit while he was empowered by his Chaos Aeternum spell.
Water erupted from the spot Zane fell into as the Strauss boy himself emerged from the water. His hands cupped together with a blue sphere of energy formed in between. "HAAAAAAAAAA!" Zane then pushed his hands forward as he unleashed a Kamehameha wave aimed right at Jaakuna.
Jaakuna growled as he held his arms out with his hands ready to try and catch the attack. But suddenly Zane pulled out a trick the demon wasn't expecting at all. He bended his attack. Shifting his arms to the left, Zane directed the beam to start heading that direction. Jaakuna let out a gasp of surprise as Zane shifted his arms again and aimed the beam to strike Jaakuna dead on in the back. "Alright! It worked!" Zane cheered as he flew back down to the ground with Jaakuna falling to his knees. "So…finally done?"
"…You…You…You…" Jaakuna repeated with each breath. Zane looked down at the demon with a cold hard look. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" Similar to before, Jaakuna proceeded to let out an intense cry of power. But this one much more fierce then before.
Unlike before, Zane was taken back by this and flinched a bit. "His power…" Zane let out as Jaakuna's entire body proceeded to be covered by a shadowy aura. "It's growing higher and higher!" Jaakuna kept on building up this power. The shadows covering him becoming much more intense. Just then the shadows all moved over to one part of his body. His left hand.
With all the power gathered up in his left palm, Jaakuna reared it back…and aimed it all at Betty. Zane gasped as he saw the massive beam of shadowy energy head right towards the defenseless Betty. "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Zane screamed as he reached out for her.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
When the beam made contact, a massive explosion emerged. Large amounts of smoke emanated from the spot he blasted as the entire room shook as cracks formed on the walls, ceiling, and platform. But miraculously, the Diamond Heart was still floating below the very center of the ceiling. Unmoved and undamaged from the fight. "Hehe…HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Jaakuna laughed evilly at the sight. Finally after all this time, the Ozra people were dead. "This fight was over from the start boy! These people were doomed from the start! All I did was try to speed things up while the queen delayed the inevitable! You were fighting a losing battle from the start!"
"You….cruel….heartless….bastard…."
"Huh?" Jaakuna let out in surprise. It sounded like Zane's voice…but it came from the smoke. Waving his hand, Jaakuna released a small wave of energy to blow away all of the smoke. And once it was gone the demon's eyes widened in shock.
Betty was perfectly fine. Unconcious and pinned to the wall, but alive. No scratches on her. The reason for this, Zane took the hit for her. His limbs spread out and acting like a human-shield for the 11-year-old, Zane took the entire attack for Betty.
"Impossible!" Jaakuna yelled, completely outraged at the sight. "You took that attack head on! How are you still alive let alone in one piece!"
Cue: Might+U
"Because…I made a promise." Despite the pain, despite all the blood leaking out of his body and the bruises he's taken, his cloths torn and ripped, he refused to fall down in defeat. "I promised the queen I would protect Betty…I promised Betty I'd take her to Fairy Tail…and I promised I'd defeat you. So long as there's breath in my body…I WON'T LET ANY OF THEM DOWN! DO YOU HEAR ME?! I WON'T DIE TO THE LIKES OF YOU! NOT WITH SO MUCH ON THE LINE!"
"You're a fool!" Jaakuna yelled as he began gathering up magic energy in his palms. "You think you can defeat me with your body like that!"
"All I need…" Zane then rose a single fist into the air. "IS ONE FIST!" With all his might, Zane flew towards Jaakuna. With his right fist reared back, gathering up energy in his hand, Zane speed towards the demon with the full intent on delivering the killing blow. He just needed to get in close.
But Jaakuna was doing all he could to make sure that didn't happen. The demon kept firing blast of chaos magic after blast of chaos magic. But somehow this boy had managed to evade each and everyone. 'I don't understand!' Jaakuna yelled in his mind as each blast missed Zane, the boy gathering up more and more energy in his right fist. 'How could he still be moving like this?! He should at least be unconscious! What's driving him?! What…'
ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAR!
Jaakuna found himself doing one last thing he's never done before. Freeze in fear. Suddenly, surrounding Zane as he closed in with his fist now out, was an outline of the great ape Oozaru. Its sharp teeth visible as it roared and its blood red eyes forcing Jaakuna to cease his attack as one question ran through his mind.
'What is he?!'
"THIS IS IT! EVERYTHING I'VE GOT!" Zane yelled as he inched closer and closer to Jaakuna who had suddenly ceased his attacks. "FOR BETTY! QUEEN BRIANNA! THE OZRA! AND EVERYONE WHO'S SUFFERED BECAUSE OF YOU!"
"KAI-O-KEN TIME SEVEN!"
The aura of Kai-O-Ken burning off him more ferocious then ever, Zane was mere inches away from Jaakuna as he directed all power into his fist and-
Betty finally found herself walking up. Her eyes opening up, she quickly realized her arms and legs were bound and unable to move. But she could still look around. And what she saw was truly a sight to behold.
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Zane screamed…as he proceeded to blow right through Jaakuna. Zane built up so much power, he not only impaled Jaakuna with his fist, but left a giant hole in his body big enough for Zane to fly through.
Betty couldn't believe it. Zane successfully killed Jaakuna. He got her revenge. He avenged her mother. "Zane…" Betty muttered as a single tear went down her eye, a smile coming to her mouth as she watched the demon meet its end.
"Thank you."
This was a really fun chapter to right! Feels great to come back to this story again even if it is brief! In case any are wondering, Jaakuna is based off Mephiles from Sonic 06. The best villain in the series and the main on in the game that I swear I'm the only guy who loves. But anyway, my original plan was to go back to Star after I finish Total Loud Island but now I'm tempted to go back to this story instead. So here's whats gonna happen. After I wake up tomorrow I'm gonna make a poll and you guys can decide. After Total Loud Island do I got back to Louds vs the Forces of Evil, or Fairy Tail Z. The decision is up to you.
So remember to favorite, follow, and leave a review and stay tuned next time for...
