Chapter 18: Mark learns the truth

Mark and Lillie leave the Kanto Region and they are going to Mt. Pyre, as they go there, they meet up with Ash and Serena, somehow they have another child by their side.

"Brother, who is this?" Mark asks in confusion as he didn't know that Ash would keep a human child.

"As you can see..." Before Ash can answer, Saphira hugs Mark and says, "Uncle Mark, you're here as well."

"Uncle?" Mark turns to Ash and Serena, Ash says, "She is Saphira, our daughter. Somehow she has memories for the past seven years and she knows what we are doing as well."

"Is it related to time travel?" Lillie asks.

"We asked Celebi and Dialga for confirmation, but there are no sign of time travel." Serena says. "She maybe born from our auras combining together."

Mark frowns, as much as he despise Serena due to the fact that she is still a human and she hurt his brother, but this is unexpected for him as Saphira asks, "Uncle Saphira, can you show me Swords Dance that you often showed me? I want to see it again."

"Huh?" Mark is confused, but Ash uses his aura to tell him, "Apparently, her memories are somehow modified, it seems like in her memories, you often showed her about your Swords Dance and she also loves it."

Mark knows what Ash is implying and he says, "I am sorry, Saphira, I put my swords back home, why don't we wait until we go back home and I will show you again?"

"Yay, uncle Mark is the best." Saphira cheers as Lillie says to Ash, "It seems like this girl is really a younger version of you, Ash?"

"Really?" Ash asks. "I don't know why, I feel like I want to be a good father figure for her, maybe it is because that I have never met my father..."

Serena frowns as this is first to her, Mark says, "Yeah...Mother created all of us, and we had to see her being abused to death by those traitors...Which is why I can't forgive those humans..."

"I know." Ash says, "By the way, have you see Golly or Gladion? I am sure that they are going to Mt. Pyre in this region."

"We haven't seen them yet. But I am sure that they are already there." Mark says.

"Well, I think we should go to Mt. Lanakila for the Ice Gem, so we'll see you later." Ash says as Serena bends down to Saphira, "We are going, Saphira."

"Okay, Mama. Bye bye, Uncle Mark, Aunt Lillie." Saphira says as the three of them leave.

Mark says, "So I am an uncle, huh? I wonder what will the others think of that."

"Maybe they have the same reaction as you?" Lillie says. "After all, she appears out of nowhere and somehow knows what we don't know about."

"You maybe right, but still, she is a Pokemon as well, and our goal is to destroy humans, not Pokemon." Mark says.

"True." Lillie says. "By the way, Mark. I want to ask you, why are you so keen on destroying humans, not that I am against it, but I want to know."

Mark says, "Minami and I have been discussing about this, as you know, when Mother is forced to send me away because of Professor Oak, I was sent to the FS Resort in this region. I wanted to believe that only my owners are the bad humans and the others are good ones. But in the end, while working and performing, I saw a lot of people, their minds are twisted, they treat others' pain as their entertainment and they love it. I can't stand it as day past."

Mark frowns as they climb into the cable car, Mark says, "My hope for humans have been shattered after I heard my brother about it. The pained face he is making, it feels like I am the one that is feeling it. Being betrayed by those who cared and even loved..."

Mark holds his hand on his face and he says, "Brother and Mother are the ones that made me who I am, but in the end, Mother is gone, and Brother is suffering, not only that, I heard everyone of my family are also sharing the same fate, it is just like that we are facing a great torture when we come into this world."

Lillie says, "I see...I am not going to blame you for it. I can feel the same way as well. Even though I was a human at first...Ash showed me everything, and I can feel your pain as well."

"That is why we are working together." Mark says. "We are going to change the society and make it better."

"But what if there are good humans." Lillie says which causes Mark to turn to him, "I mean...as I was spying, I saw some people who still have good inside them, are you going to hate them as well? Treat them as same as the ones that are evil?"

Mark says, "I know it will be prejudice to define humans from good to bad, but I simply don't trust them. If they aren't really bad, they have to prove it, that is my thoughts."

"I see." Lillie says. "But why are you asking me this?" Mark asks as Lillie lowers her head.

"I...I just don't want to see you and Minami fight with Insey and Trenor because of these things. My dream of a family is that siblings help one another, not fight with each other. I know that fighting makes siblings grow closer, but I don't feel just right about it."

Mark says, "I see, we sure have different opinions, and sometimes Brother Ash and Golly are the ones who become the negotiators. I was just simply jealous of those two, that is all."

"Jealous?" Lillie asks.

"Insey was being chased by the hunters, while Trenor lives in an orphanage and he was bullied. I just think that they are suffering less then us. I know it is childish to think like this, but you maybe right. Minami and I may be overreacting about this." Mark says.

Once they arrive at the top, they go to the crater of the volcano and find that a gem is on the glass platform that is on the middle of the crater. So they go towards it and then takes it. But unfortunate for them, the lava rises into the air and create a giant wall that traps the two of them.

"What are we going to do now? Even if we go straight pass the lava, we will be burnt." Lillie asks.

"Don't worry. I have a plan." Mark says as he takes out the Pokeball. "Ho-Oh, come on out."

As the Phoenix Pokemon appears, they ride it as they fly into the sky, then they fly past the lava walls and then they land at the other side of the crater.

"I never know that taking these gems might trigger some bad stuff." Mark says.

"Who knows." Lillie says. "Maybe we are fortunate to escape all of it."

"Yeah, now we should head to the next place." Mark says as they go on the cable car down the mountain.
