CHAPTER 17. - We Can Work This Out.
JACKIE FINDS HERSELF AT DONNAS DOOR KNOCKING FRANCTICALLY TO BE LET IN A TIRED LOOKING DONNA OPENS THE DOOR TO FIND HER CRYING FRIEND ON THE DOORSTEP.
JACKIE:
Oh Donna I don't know what to do.
DONNA LEADS A SOBBING JACKIE INSIDE AND UP TO HER ROOM AND JUST HOLDS HER WHILE SHE CRIES IT OUT, DONNA IS REALLY CONCERNED THIS IS THE MOST EMOTION JACKIE HAS SHOWN SINCE SHE'S BEEN BACK. DONNA MANAGES TO CALM JACKIE DOWN ENOUGH TO HEAR WHAT HAS HAPPENED.
JACKIE:
Oh my god I feel like such a bad person. How could I do that.
DONNA:
I'm sure Hyde will understand that you were drunk.
JACKIE:
I was trying to prove to everyone including myself that he's the same old Steven Hyde and just out to hurt me but oh Donna you should of seen the look in his eyes. I think he really does mean what he's saying.
DONNA:
I really think he does to.
JACKIE:
I was trying to deny it to myself but I still love him Donna maybe even more than before. I'm just so scared of getting hurt.
DONNA:
I know you do Midget. I guess you just have to decide if he is worth that risk or not.
JACKIE:
(Very quietly) I think he is. (Louder) Oh god I need to go talk to him!
DONNA:
I know you do but how about you get some sleep for now, so you have a clear mind when you talk to him next. Mrs. Foreman is planning a big Thanks Giving Dinner for tomorrow night so how about you stay the night and we'll get ready together and talk about this some more in the morning.
JACKIE:
Oh god I forgot about Thanks Giving! Thanks lumberjack I don't know what I'd do without you.
DONNA:
I feel the same way.
THE GIRLS HUG AND TRY TO GET SOME SLEEP KNOWING THEY HAVE A BUSY DAY AHEAD OF THEM.
...
JACKIE AND DONNA SLEEP IN AND SPEND MOST OF THE AFTERNOON INBETWEEN HANGING OUT AND TALKING GETTING READY. FEZ BRINGS OVER ONE OF JACKIES DRESSES FOR HER AND THE TRIO HEAD OVER TO THE FOREMANS KNOWING THEY'LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH AN ANGRY KITTY IF THEY ARE LATE. WHEN THEY WALK IN THEY CAN A TIERD LOOKING STEVEN SITTING AT THE TABLE, HE LOOKS MORE ROUGH THAN USUAL HIS HAIR IS MESSIER, HE HAS STUBBLE ON HIS FACE AND THE TOP THREE BUTTONS OF HIS SHIRT IS UNDONE. JACKIE LOOKS AT HIM AND REALISES THAT SHE HAS MADE THE RIGHT DECISION THIS MORNING AND KNOWS THAT SHE NEEDS TO TRY FIND A TIME TO TALK TO HER PUDDING POP SOON SHE HATED SEEING HIM THIS WAY.
KITTY:
Ooo don't you three look cute (she gushes as she runs over and hugs them all) I wish you three would come visit me more, this house feel very lonely these days (she points her finger at the trio making them feel bad)
JACKIE, DONNA & FEZ:
(Guiltily) Sorry Mrs. Foreman, we'll be over more often we promise.
KITTY:
(Smiles happily at them all) Good. You guys are right on time Dinner is nearly ready.
STEVEN:
Hey guys , (looks at Jackie like he wants to say something but doesn't know what)
JACKIE:
Hey Steven ( making his heart skip a beat, she just used his name again)
FEZ GREATS HIM IN HIS USUAL ENTHUSIASTIC WAY AND DONNA SMILES AT HIM ENCOURAGINLY. MR FOREMAN ENTERS FROM THE LIVING ROOM.
RED:
The food smells good ( giving kitty a peck on the cheek, then he turns to Jackie) Good your here Loud one, I've been waiting for you to drop by, Are you busy tomorrow I need a hand with the car.
JACKIE:
(Smiling at him) Sorry I haven't been around much. I'd love to give you a hand.
KITTY SERVES UP DINNER AND THEY ALL SIT AROUND ENJOYING THE ROAST TURKEY SHE'S COOKED NO ONE CARE BARELY GET A WORD IN AS SHE'S BUSY DRILLING THE KIDS ABOUT WHAT THEY'VE BEEN UP TO AND MAKING SURE THEY HAVE BEEN KEEPING HEALTHY. AFTER DINNER RED AND BOB SIT DOWN TO WATCH A GAME KITTY JOINS THEM WITH A BOOK AND DONNA & FEZ ARE HEADING DOWN TO THE BASEMENT, HYDE IS ABOUT TO JOIN THEM.
JACKIE:
(Nervously) Steven I was wondering if we could have a chat outside if you didn't mind.
STEVEN FOLLOWS HER OUTSIDE. KITTY CLAPS ENTUSATICALLY HAPPY THE YOUNG COUPLE MAY BE FINALLY SORTING THINGS OUT. EVERYONE ELSE HAS A SMALL SMILE ON THEIR FACE, EVEN RED (WELL HIS IS MORE LIKE A KNOWING LOOK). JACKIE SITS DOWN ON THE STEP AND INDICATES FOR HYDE TO JOIN HER.
JACKIE:
(Laughs shyly) You know for once I don't really know what to say.
STEVEN:
(Can't help himself and chuckles) That would be a first.
JACKIE:
Steven I don't even know how to apologize for last night but I am so sorry for the way I acted.
STEVEN:
Jacks I understand your hurt still.
JACKIE:
That's no excuse. You shouldn't hurt the people you love, I pulled something you would when your upset (covers her mouth quickly).
STEVEN:
(Gently moves her hand of her mouth, taking it in his own and giving it a small kiss) That is something I would do. If I have learnt anything from all this assumptions are the worst thing you can do..
JACKIE:
They are.
STEVEN:
Well anyway thanks for apologizing. I hope we can try and be civil to each other now at least, maybe even friends if you'd like. It was stupid of me to think you'd forgive me for what I did. (he looks ashamed) I hate what I've turned you into Jacks I'm sorry to.. for everything. ( he gets up to leave)
JACKIE GRABS HIS HAND AND HE TURNS BACK AND LOOKS AT HER HOPEFUL.
JACKIE:
Steven I'm scared.
STEVEN:
Scared of what Doll?
JACKIE:
What if we both end up hurting each other again.
STEVEN:
I can't promise it won't happen, but I can promise that I'll try my best to make sure it doesn't happen (he sits back beside her, holding both her hands now) Doll I just need to know so I don't get my hopes up for nothing how do you honestly feel about me?
JACKIE:
I don't know ( his face drops), All I know is I love you still with all my heart.
HE GRABS HER AND CRUSHES HIS LIPS ON HERS, SMILING WHILE HE KISSES HER, HE PULLS HER IN A TIGHT EMBRACE AND WHISPERS THAT HE LOVES HER IN HER EAR, HE PULLS BACK SO HE'S LOOKING IN HER EYES.
STEVEN:
I know it's gonna take some time and work Baby, but we can work this out ok, you just got to try and trust me doll. We'll just take it day by day for now.
SHE NODS HER HEAD AND THEY BOTH SMILE AT EACHOTHER SOFTLY KISSING AGAIN. HE THEN HELPS HER UP AND THEY HEAD INSIDE HOLDING HANDS, RED SAYS HE'S GLAD THEY HAVE FINALLY PULLED THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR ASSES. KITTY HUGS AND KISSES THEM BOTH. BOB SMILES HAPPILY AT THE BOTH OF THEM. THEIR FRIENDS WHO ARE WAITING IN THE BASEMENT ARE JUST AS HAPPY FOR THEM.
NOTE: Hey guys thanks so much for keeping up with this story. This isn't the end yet I have quite a long story planned out in my head so hope ya'll will enjoy it.
