Chapter 17 Adventure in Wall Market

(Location: Backstreets Area Sector 5 slums Midgar Planet Gaia)

It has been quite the day for Cloud. He thought being Aerith's bodyguard was going to be a boring job. Well, he was wrong. It has been anything but since he ran into the florist again. Meeting one of Shinra's Turk was a sign his trouble weren't going to end. After leaving her house he had to do the worse thing possible as part of his new job. Help the florist gather flowers. Definitely not his cup of tea and something he would ever do. Or the fact that he had to hold one of her baskets. It was an alien feeling so unfamiliar to him. Of course he knew what picking flowers is. He just never thought he of all people, would have to do it. Wonder what Tifa would say to him if she sees him. Better not think about it.

After, it got interesting as he started doing jobs for other people. The same thing he was doing when he was in Sector 7. It wasn't so bad many of those jobs were eliminating monsters for his clients. Usual mercenary stuff which he was more than glad to do it. Along with helping the children from the Green Leaf Orphanage and the ones from the Hideout. Playing Whack-a-Box was actually fun and he was able to get some training do not bad in his book. Then a job about finding someone who resembles Tifa's friend on a hood caught his attention. Only to find out it wasn't really Marco but someone who looks identical to him wearing the same attire. The number he had on was different too, being 2. Along with more hallucinations from Sephiroth.

The ex-SOLDIER didn't complain after getting paid handsomely. So many clients and his gil pouch was full after being a little empty. Turned out better than he thought. If he keeps up, everyone will know about him and his services. Word will spread fast and he will be well known all over Midgar. The merc was sure this will bring him some trouble catching Shinra's attention. It won't be long before they find out and realize he's the same person that's been aiding Avalanche to destroy the reactors. And eventually, that's he's a SOLDIER. Not like it matter to him, he can handle anything the power company throws at him. His only concern were Barret and the others. One way or another they will eventually find out where is the eco-group's home and hideout. And when that happens. No, the blond decided not to think it. It might become another Nibelheim.

Cloud just finished another job helping some journalist give him a lead on the famous Angel of the Slums. Or maybe not, considering he helped the old woman Mireille and gave him something that belongs to that journalist. It was his now finders keepers, sort of. Aerith said that was enough for today so they thought of heading back to her house. Along the way, someone stood before them. He had his back as he knelt with pigeons on the ground. Wearing a black suit. Both Cloud and the florist knew it was the Turk they saw earlier. Wait, was he feeding the pigeons it will explain why there were so many around him. The man has got up turning around to meet them. Yep, he was expecting them.

(Music: "Turk's Battle Theme" from the FFVIIR original soundtrack)

"Hello, Aerith."

"What do you want?" it was no surprise why he was here.

"Haven't seen him before. He your new boy toy?"

"He's my bodyguard, if you must know."

"Wait a minute...Those eyes…Is he the one who beat up Reno?"

"And what if I am?" Cloud didn't bothered denying it.

"Need to cross my T's, dot my I's. That's all. I am here on business."

"I told Reno everything. I don't know where they are."

"Those two are more dangerous than Avalanche. The longer they remain in Midgar, the more of a threat they become."

"Ruby and Jaune are not with Wutai!"

"He's not going to listen. If you want to end up like your friend, walk away."

The bald man with shades didn't replied staring at the SOLDIER. This area wasn't the right one for their bout. If he defeated Reno then, he will truly be a challenge. There were people, there was no need to bring attention as he opened gate next to them. Leading to a circular wide field. The perfect place for a fight. The merc followed him when the florist ran to him.

"Cloud, leave him be. Rude's not a bad person."

"No, I'm not bad. But like it or not…I sometimes have to do bad things" he fixed his black leather gloves.

"Once I'm done with you I will return with my mission to find those two spies. You see Aerith, even if you don't cooperate with us. We're searching high and low for them. It won't be long before they show up."

"Don't hurt them please…."

"That will be up to them. If they choose to resist then it won't go well. I'd rather not get my hands dirty doing a job. But I will if I must."

"You won't find them. You'll have to go through me" Cloud readied his Buster sword.

Rude didn't replied ready to fight him. He saw the florist taking her steel staff. Looks like she was planning to fight him too. Not good, he's not allow to hurt her no matter what. They have strict orders not to harm a single hair of her head. He will have to avoid her attacks and focus on the SOLDIER.

"Don't take it personal."

He charged at the merc with a strong kick but he blocked it with his weapon. This guy might be in the same level as Reno. So he won't be that hard if he keeps his focus on him.

"You Turks are all the same. All bark...No bite."

"You're one to talk!"

Before making the first move Rude released a dust powder looking substance straight at Aerith. It felt right into her face as the florist coughed and suddenly she felt so weak. Most importantly, tired. Her eyes got so heavy and all she could think was rest. Did he just threw sleeping powder that was not far. The florist wasn't happy that he will cheat just to fight Cloud alone. He could have at least tell her he only wants to fight him. Then again, she wanted to help the merc. She didn't liked when he fought Reno alone. Not caring he still had the advantage against the red head Turk. She was barely able to keep her eyes open walking over to a corner. Great, she will have to sit this one out.

Cloud knew Rude did that to keep Aerith out of the fight. After seeing Reno's behavior towards her it's clear Shinra doesn't have any intentions of harming her. He had a feeling it wasn't because she knows Jaune and Ruby. There was more, he was that sure. Now the Turk won't have to worry of hurting her. The merc's eyes widened as the man performed some quick punches and a kick. The force sent him off, breaking his guard. He actually did that. This guy might be a little stronger than Reno. Unlike the red head, he was using his hand to hand. A kick to his stomach, followed by an uppercut and a kick. Damn, this guy can hit. It shocked him when he grabbed him by his legs and started spinning him so fast until throwing him at distance.

The ex-SOLDIER got back on his feet as he did a quick check up on Aerith. She was fine, just sleeping soundly. He grabbed her bridal style putting her on a safe corner so she doesn't get hurt by the fight. Boy, she wasn't going to be happy when she wakes up. His eyes were back on his opponent standing still in his fighting stance. This guy was different than Reno. The red head would have charged at him, not giving him a chance to counter. This guy was patient and calm the complete opposite of the other Turk. He will have to be careful with this one. Every move he make, he will have to make it count. No matter how strong he is, his training and experience taught never to underestimate an opponent. Specially if the opponent is from Shinra.

The blond nerc charged going for his back, Rude saw this coming. He was ready for counter but gasped as he jumped from his reach. The Turk followed not letting his aerial attack connect. Cloud performed a strong attack that was unable to be blocked sending him to the ground hard. The man in the suit realized it was strong enough to destroyed one of the lenses of his shades. No problem he always brings an extra pair for these kinds of emergencies. The Turk changed his broken shades, ready to resume the fight. The ex-SOLDIER stood still any wrong move will cost him. Rude thought SOLDIERS will get cocky due to their inhuman strength. But this one, wasn't acting reckless. He finally understood why his partner lost.

The spy Ruby Rose beat him because she proved to be a very quick and tricky opponent. But this guy was calm and collected. Never losing focus because he couldn't afford defeat. The Turk made the next move, going for his feet. Making him lose balance will give him the edge doing a kick. Only to get blocked and that was exactly what he was waiting for. Rude went for a surprise punch when it was suddenly blocked. Eyes widened behind the shades as the blond grabbed his fist with his own hand. Holding his big sword with one. Impossible, that weapon was two handed. No matter how strong he is, he will have trouble holding it with only one hand. Could it be he has underestimated him.

Cloud took him by surprise again with a kick of his own. It broke his defenses as he charged with a couple of punches and went to follow with his Buster sword. Using it upward to elevate the man jumping, he used a couple of kicks that made contact. The merc gasped when he suddenly grabbed him by both hands on his waist and did an aerial throw. The mercenary landed on the ground not feeling that much of a pain thanks to his aura. This really saved his bust. He would have been seriously injured with how strong he fell in. It caught him off guard the Turk still has some strength left. They may not be strong like the SOLDIERS but they were still a good match for a sparring partner. But kept his standing strong.

Rude charged in with another strong kick that was blocked yet again. Another one, and another. Cloud didn't know what he was thinking. He might have finally lost his composure and was now attacking head on without a strategy. If that was the case then, he has already won the fight. But he was wrong because he was planning the strategy ahead. The merc kept on blocking when a sudden knee to his stomach shocked him. So his plan was to make him lose concentration by focusing on all of his frontal attacks. It was strong enough that he lost his grip on his weapon. The Turk went with an uppercut then he will follow it up with a spinning throw. That didn't happened because the uppercut never made contact.

Once more the ex-SOLDIER has caught it with his hand, dragging him towards him. A punch straight to his face sent him packing as his body was spinning on the ground. He grabbed his Buster sword keeping his guard up. The fight might have not ended yet. Until the man in the suit slowly got up but he was on one knee. His face was bleeding, upper lip and nose, he might have broken it. Pretty clear who was the winner of the match. Thankfully his shades were still in good shape.

(Music end)

"Not bad...You earned the right to be a SOLDIER."

"What do you want with Aerith? Your other buddy didn't wanted to hurt her either" the merc turned his gaze to the still sleeping florist.

"Wouldn't you like to know."

"It's more than just getting info on the spies. What does Shinra want with her?"

"Try asking her. She knows."

Rude's mobile started ringing with a familiar victory theme. He accepted the call finding out it was Reno. He nodded a couple of times before hanging up.

"Not planning on staying?"

"That seems to be the case. New orders."

A Shinra chopper suddenly arrived with a ladder already released. The Turk jumped as the vehicle flew away. Cloud sheathed his weapon going to Aerith's side. She was starting to come to, her head was feeling woozy. She was able to see the merc's face, her vision getting clearer.

"What happened…?"

"You were out cold for a moment. The fight's over."

"Huh…?" her green eyes narrowed" now I remember! That jerk threw sleeping powder on me. It makes me so mad. If he didn't wanted me helping you he should have at least said so! That Rude, he really is rude!"

"Too late to be complaining" he helped her on her feet.

"I guess. Though he's going to get it if I ever see him again."

"More like he didn't wanted you getting hurt. Any idea why?"

"Um...Not really…." boy was she really a bad liar.

"No need to lie. Better not to answer at all."

She lowered her head feeling bad" I'm sorry, I didn't mean it. Maybe I will tell you later. Let's get to my house already I'm feeling hungry."

"You what!?"

Jaune panicked as he went to hide behind Ruby. It looked so funny as the silver eyed girl was shorter than him and he could still be seen. A poor choice for a hiding spot. They were at the Seventh Heaven and he just told Barret about telling a journalist his identity. The dark skinned man wasn't happy as he has removed his shades. His expression was really scary as the veins from the side of his forehead were popped. The Arc knelt down to hide behind the reaper trembling. The right thing to do will be to explain his actions but right now, he was frozen in fear.

"I can't believe you did that! What were you thinking!? Come on, answer me!"

"I had to...I…." he was too scared.

"Barret try to calm down. I'm sure Jaune has a valid explanation for telling a stranger about you being with Avalanche" Ruby ever being the voice of reason.

The Huntsman smiled tearing up, he wanted to give her a big hug. Always count on her for when the going gets tough. The the silver eyed girl turned to him looking worried.

"You do have a valid explanation right? Because I can't save you if he wants to commit bloody murder."

"This is how you do things to make me feel better!?" he teared up at her words.

"I don't want to fight him. I have nothing to do with this mess you got yourself into."

"Okay fine" he mustered the courage to leave her side meeting up with the big man.

"I had to do it. She had valuable evidence of the destruction of Mako Reactor 1."

"That's a bunch of bull-" he paused not wanting to curse because he will have to fill the cursing jar" why would you rat me from someone of the press for something we already know?"

"Because Jessie's bomb didn't destroyed the core of the reactor!"

Both Barret and Ruby were shocked.

"The surveillance footage from the reactor room shows the bomb exploding but the core was still intact. It wasn't that strong enough to take it down. We felt a second explosion that was stronger. That came from sentry rays and a Sweeper that were firing on it…."

"You mean…." the reaper was still shocked but she felt so relief to know the brunette wasn't at fault.

"She's innocent. Jessie was never to blame for the reactor's destruction or what happened to Sector 8" he smiled.

"Son of a bitch!" too bad the Avalanche leader didn't took the revelation that well.

Then he walked over to the cursing jar putting one gil before walking back to the two. It would have been an amusing sight but the atmosphere of the situation wasn't fit for it.

"I should have known...I should have KNOWN! They don't give a crap about their precious reactors. The same reactors that are sucking up mako from the planet in exchange to give the people power. Bastards, all of them. They don't care about them just like they don't care about the people they serve."

"Heidegger did detonated our bomb. He wanted to destroy Reactor 5 with the purpose that we will get caught in the explosion. That must have been their plan all along" said Ruby.

"All they care about is promoting their war with Wutai. And they're using us as tool to promote it! We don't take orders from no one but ourselves. We only fight for the planet."

"I think to them, it's no big deal" spoke the Arc" losing a few reactors means nothing to Shinra as long as they fulfill their goal. They can fix them but it will take time."

"And they don't care of the consequences of their actions. I bet they could care less how many people will be left with no power. They don't care, sacrifice all the reactors they damn please for the sake of war. War that will cost them who knows how many damn lives and we'll be the ones to suffer the most" Barret was really upset.

"This is why I went with my gut in telling Ema about you. After seeing the surveillance footage I knew I made the right choice."

"You DID the right choice" the petite smiled at the blond.

"You sure did. I'm proud of you. Not just knowing the truth about Shinra but helping a friend in need. I know Jessie will be more than happy to know she's not responsible for all that destruction, the people that got hurt and those that didn't made it."

"Well, save it until I'm done" right, he wasn't done yet" I agree to tell Emma about you in order to see the surveillance footage in exchange for something. She wants to give you an interview."

"Of course that's what she wants. All those Shinra ass kissers want the same thing. Getting the big scoop that will make them popular."

Ruby took the curse jar and brought it to the dark skinned putting another one gil.

"Will you accept?"

"Don't have a choice. You have to fulfill your end of the bargain. I'll do it. Can't say I will have a pleasant experience though."

The Arc smiled, everything went as he thought. It's all good and he was sure the journalist will keep her word of Barret's secret.

"Now it's my turn to surprise you. I have a special mission for you two and it involves Tifa."

This caught the attention of the Huntsman and the Huntress.

"It all started when she spotted a group of suspicious people asking others of the whereabouts of Avalanche."

"I remember, I was with her. Yeah, there was a bunch of not so trusting people asking around. She told me it was no big deal. That there was no need to worry about them anymore" said the red cloak petite.

"She told you so you don't worry because she has already made plans. She's hell bent on finding out why they're looking for us. She highly believes there's a connection between Shinra and the man that sent those men. It's none other than Corneo of Wall Market."

Neither the blond or the reaper reacted hearing his name. They do know about the one section that was rebuilt in the destroyed wasteland of Sector 6.

"Don Corneo. The biggest piece of human scumbag that has ever walk the face of the planet?"

"Doesn't ring a bell" replied the Arc.

"I thought you said you've been to Wall Market?"

"We have. We just never heard of him" followed the petite.

"You got to be kidding me. You've been to the place yet you don't know him?" seriously what kind of crazy logic is that, everybody knows him.

"Should we?"

"You damn should son! He's the one that owns the whole joint. Every single building, and every single one of those fools hail him like he's bigger than President Shinra."

"Sorry Barret but we really never heard of him. We have walked some of the streets of Wall Market but we only went there just to train at Jules gym."

"And we never stay for too long. We always left before it got dark" added Ruby and honestly she didn't wanted to stay because she had a feeling the place will get creepy when the sun goes down.

"Now that makes sense. Only the shadiest of people will come out during the evening. It's not so dangerous during the day. Anyway, back to Tifa. She has talked to that group, negotiating that she wants to meet up with Corneo. There's only one way to get a front row ticket with that bastard and she went with it. By volunteering to compete in his audition."

Both teens stood in thought not knowing what he was talking about. The Avalanche leader shook his head not liking to bring this topic. But they needed to know what kind of danger the brawler was getting herself into.

"What I'm about to tell you is the real deal. Every once in a while Corneo holds an audition to pick his favorite, woman. More than one contestant competes and the winner gets to be his...Pet…."

His tone sounded of deep anger. Both Jaune and Ruby looked at each other having an idea what was this about. And they didn't like it one but understand why the dark skinned sounded upset. They were getting worried for Tifa.

"By pet...You mean…." the silver eyed reaper started.

"Exactly what I mean. Tifa is hoping he chooses her so she can make him talk of his reasons for looking for Avalanche."

"Would it be that easy?" asked the Arc.

"I hope so. Corneo is nothing but a push over. Nothing but a big coward that hides behind hired muscle. She will be fine."

They really didn't like this. The brawler becoming his woman and he will be allow to do all sorts of things to her. But there's no way she will let him. She'll beat him up before he gets the chance.

"Has she left for Wall Market already?" asked the reaper.

"Not yet. Corneo always brings transportation for his contestants. She told me they'll be picking her up when it gets dark. In other words, a couple of hours from now. She's waiting at Stargazer Heights."

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's stop her before she-"

"Hold on!" Barret stopped the blond" you two aren't doing anything yet. You will remain put until she leaves."

"We're letting her go?" Ruby was shocked" why? You want us to help her. Shouldn't we prevent her from going to Wall Market and be sold like she's an object to some perv creep?!"

"Calm down kid. You have to understand how this will go. Tifa told me her plan for the sole reason that I won't interfere. And I won't. That's where you two come in. Your mission is to follow the transport she boards all the way to Wall Market. After that, you will be on your own."

"So it's enter the enemy stronghold and save her?" Jaune understood now.

"I don't like her plan any more than you. But I'm letting her do this because this is her mission on behalf of Avalanche. She made up her mind, she wants to do this. Let's respect her choice."

"But you're sending us to help her. You're not really respecting her choice?" the petite smiled at his silly thinking.

"If you think I'm going to let her go alone to that den of snakes, you're sadly mistaken. I don't trust Wall Market and I sure as hell will never trust Corneo. Even if she succeeds in getting the information she needs. There's no guarantee she'll be able to escape. Her chances of returning are slim. Unless, she has help."

"Got it. We'll make sure to bring her back safe" Jaune nodded.

"All we need to do is keep an eye on her" replied the petite it shouldn't be so hard since they live in the same apartment complex.

"I'm sure the one that's picking her up is Sam, everyone calls him Chocobo Sam. Because he owns a small Chocobo stable they use mainly for transportation."

"Thanks Barret. We'll bring her back."

"You can count on us!"

"Try to avoid her. She might suspect something. And if you get lost, just ask around."

Someone arrived at the bar as the trio turned to see the person. Jaune smiled as Emma came right on time. Barret has put on his shades, putting his usual serious face. Better act intimidating as the leader of Avalanche. Good thing Barret has already put the close sing on the bar to prevent any customers from coming. Besides without the waitress of the place, there can't be a business.

"We better get going. We'll make sure nothing happens to Tifa."

The two teens waved at the journalist as she smiled. She followed with walking over to him. The dark skinned man admitted she wasn't that bad looking, quite the looker. Not bad at all. The clothes made her look better as well as the glasses. She was holding a notepad and a pen.

"Are you Barret Wallace the leader of Avalanche?"

"That's right. You must be Emma."

"Pleasure to meet you. I have a lot of questions to ask you."

"I'm sure you do. Just to let you know beforehand, I'm not fond of anyone from the press."

"You ain't the only one who feels that way" she wasn't fazed by his comment in the slightest.

"Hmph...Let's get this over with. The sooner this is done the better."

When Jaune and Ruby left the bar they saw Biggs, Wedge and Jessie not that far. From their expressions he has already told them the truth. The true cause of the destruction of Mako Reactor 1. The chubby member was shocked at first but gave a big smile trying to cheer the brunette. Jessie stood dumbfounded at the news. But it wasn't long until she teared up and sobbed. All this time she has been thinking she was the one responsible. That all the lives hurt and taken in Sector 8 was her doing. She broke doing as Biggs and Wedge gave her a group hug. Both the Huntsman and Huntress smiled at the sight. That was one thing less to worried. With this, they hope the brunette can feel and sleep better.

It has been an eventful day for Cloud. It's been like that since he fell of Reactor 5 and landed in Sector 5. He thought things will calm down and go back to normal after beating the Turk Rude. Well, he was wrong. After arriving at Aerith's house, Elmyra told him to leave immediately. He needed to go tonight and he didn't blame her. The woman figured out he was a SOLDIER and thought he posses a danger to her daughter. The merc silently left once the florist went to sleep. It was rude to go without saying a word to the young woman and for helping him get adjusted and fulfill more jobs. It was time to return to Sector 7. Just when he left slums he was surprised to meet up with Aerith. Looks like she was waiting for him. As if she knew he was leaving. She offered a short cut that will get him to Sector 7. The merc had nothing to lose so he accepted as she accompany him.

The shortcut turned out to be a passage to the underground of the slums. No surprise they had to fight monsters and very weird people. Cloud thought the shortcut was a bit long since it took a while as they were able to reached the surface of the destroyed, abandoned Sector 6. And by the time they got here it has gotten dark. They were in a park where Aerith said she used to come here to play when she was younger. Evergreen park, that's what she called it. A revelation that shocked the ex-SOLDIER as she told him she knew a SOLDIER was also a First Class like him. Asking her for his name was a big mistake. A name he thought he would never heard again. The one who looked after him and saw him as a brother.

Zack, she knew him. And she was in love him. Judging from her words she probably never got the chance to tell him and have a relationship with him. This only made Cloud feel worse and to continue blaming himself for his death. Zack was more than just a friend, he was the closest thing he had to a brother. The one guy who will give him advise and help him along the way. It's because of him that his resolve to be become a SOLDIER was stronger than ever. Though the reason for wanting to be one was to become like Sephiroth, Zack was the one to show him the way. Being next to her made him feel so guilty. Is this really destiny, because it sucks that it has to be this way. It was impossible to tell her the truth.

Aerith didn't said another problem. Talking to him about something very personal to her. Better to let it go as she showed the merc where to go to reach Sector 7. Below a big slid there was an underground entrance that will lead him to a path that will take him to the slums of Sector 7. Cloud was still having flashbacks when he first met Zack and other moments to his last day alive. Along with Sephiroth still haunting him, something he has come to terms it was never going to end. He was going to miss her, the florist was a bit weird but a good person. Just when he was about to go a loud noise was heard. He and Aerith turned to see the large which it was the entrance to the slums opening. No surprise since it was being controlled from all the way to Wall Market.

As the gates opened completely something emerged entering the desolated slums. Cloud saw it was a man wearing a cowboy hat and clothes that will define him as such. Riding a carriage that was being pulled by a Chocobo. What really caught his attention was what was inside the carriage. Someone very familiar stood wearing a beautiful, elegant lilac dress. He thought he was seeing things but he wasn't. That was his childhood friend and the person he was expecting to meet when he returns to Sector 7.

"Tifa?"

The ex-SOLDIER ran to the back of the carriage. It was definitely her and she saw him as relief and joy spread her features.

"Cloud! You're alive! I thought we'd lost you!"

Honestly the brawler knew he was going to be all right. Part of her was worried and sick and wanted to leave Sector 7 to search for him. She didn't doubted it for a second. Right she wanted to give him a big hug but was a little worried she might catch Sam's attention on the front. Now it wasn't a good time she will have to cut this short and let him know where was going.

"What's going on?"

She gestured him to keep quiet" I'll explain everything later. But now, I'm on my way to see Don Corneo. You should head back to Seventh Heaven, meet up with the gang."

"But-"

"I'll be fine. You've seen how much ass I can kick."

"I have" he got off the carriage as it drove away.

Turning around the merc was met up with Aerith looking like she was planning not to let him go any further.

"Oh, no you don't. You're going after her."

"She's a big girl. She can handle the likes of him. And worse."

"Uh-uh. You don't know Corneo. It doesn't matter how strong or smart you think you are. He'll find a way to turn it against you. And where she's going to meet him? A mansion filled with his goons. Come on, aren't you worried what might happen in there? You have to help her!"

"Hurry! The gate's closing!"

"Oh no, we missed them! The Chocobo is fast even when it's not running!"

The merc and the florist turned around seeing people entering just as the large gate closed. Familiar voices. True, because it was Jaune and Ruby as they were catching their breath near the park. Ruby could have been able to catch up with the carriage using her semblance. But that will be bad because Tifa might see her. Now that they were here, that was out. Problem is the carriage got ahead of them when they were close to it.

"Because of those stupid monsters, we missed the carriage" said the red cloak girl.

"We made it here before the gate closed. That's a good thing."

"Ruby, Jaune?"

The Huntsman and Huntress turned to see a person they weren't expecting to see. But they truly wanted to see again. Seeing Aerith, and Cloud next to her. They knew the ex-SOLDIER was all right believing he made it from falling from the reactor. They stood shocked as the florist teared up, followed by the reaper. She beat her to it as the young woman ran to the girl and gave her a big hug. Ruby teared up, how she has missed her. The embraced was broken as they smiled, she followed with hugging the Arc. Aerith hasn't had enough as she gave another hug but this time, it was at both.

"You have no idea how much I have missed you. You two kept me worried. I was thinking day in, day out if you guys were okay."

"We're so sorry. We didn't mean it."

"A lot of stuff happened after we left. We really wanted to visit you if you want to know" followed Jaune.

"Cloud already filled me in some of the details. Joining Avalanche, living in Sector 7 and taking down the mako reactors."

"You already know him?" asked the reaper.

"Yep. He fell on the flower bed in the old church."

Both teens blinked. So she met him in the same place where she met them. Is this part of destiny's plan. Them meeting Aerith, Avalanche, Tifa, Barret, Cloud. Then the merc meets her. Better not give it any more thought. At least the Whisperes haven't shown up. Not since their attack at Sector 7.

"No hug for me" replied the ex-SOLDIER.

Ruby smirked as she used her semblance to get behind him and hugged him.

"Ha! You didn't said anything about getting a hug from behind!"

"Very funny" his tone was of amusement yeah, he was glad to see them again.

"This mission turned out better than we thought. We get to reunite with Aerith and Cloud" the Arc smiled.

"Yeah. Now all we need to do is save Tifa."

"Mission?" said the merc.

"You guys are going after her too?" asked the florist.

"Barret sent us. We were to follow the carriage she was on to Wall Market. We couldn't let her know we were following her. He kinda promised her he wouldn't tell anyone else what she's planning" explained the Huntsman.

"What is she planning?" asked Cloud.

"She wants to know why Corneo is looking for Avalanche. There were people that worked for him asking where they could find members back at the slums in Sector 7" replied Ruby.

"That's why she volunteered to be part of an audition to get close to him. She believes asking Corneo will get her some answers" followed the Arc.

"I knew it. She's really in danger Cloud, we have to save her" said Aerith.

"We already have an idea what will become of Tifa if she gets chosen by Corneo" said the blond Huntsman.

"Let's go" said the ex-SOLDIER.

"Yay! We're together again!" cheered the red cloak petite.

"So, where can we find this Corneo? Ruby and I have been to Wall Market but we didn't heard much from him. And before you say anything we only came during the day."

"I...I don't know…."

They were staring at the florist as she blushed.

"I've never been to Wall Market. I only heard from him from the rumors. We should ask someone."

The four went ahead, the only way where the carriage Tifa was on went. Good thing it was a one way path or they would have been in trouble. They spotted a couple of houses that were in perfect condition. Jaune and Ruby remembers this, they were finally in Wall Market. Not that far was the carriage that brought the brawler. Cloud gave it a quick check inside, it was empty. They were too late. She was already taken to wherever Corneo is. There was a person wearing the same cowboy uniform with the back of the jacket having the Chocobo picture and the name of the bird checking above the picture on a Chocobo but not the same guy that was driving the carriage.

"Hey there! Where you headed?" he turned to the group.

"You gave a ride to a girl earlier. Do you have any idea where she went?" asked Aerith.

"No, and if you don't need a ride, then get the hell outta here. Can't you see I'm trying to work?" the stable wasn't happy.

"You don't have to be so rude" Ruby frowned.

"This is a business not a charity. If you don't need transport then feel free to go."

"You have to be lying, a carriage just recently arrived here. And you want to pretend like you didn't see it?"

"You little-" he suddenly got angry.

Jaune stepped up in the petite defense" she's only asking because the woman on that carriage is her friend. She's our friend and we're looking for her. It's obvious we want to know where she is."

The reaper stuck her tongue at the stable hand. She can always count on the Arc to support her.

"I already said I don't know. Now get the hell outta here!"

"What's all the ruckus out here?"

The double doors of the place opened revealing a man wearing a similar cowboy outfit. The two teens and the merc recognized the man as the one driving the carriage and the one known as Chocobo Sam. This guy will obviously know where the brawler is.

"Hmm...I don't know you. What's your story?"

"We're looking for a girl who took one of your carriages. Can you help us find her?" asked the florist.

"And don't try to deny it. Because we saw you leaving the slums in Sector 7" added Ruby.

The man stood silent but waved his hand as he didn't minded. Not like he had much of a choice and lie about it. Not like he was good at deceiving others with false words.

"What'd you want with this girl of yours?"

"She's a friend. We want to save-" replied Cloud doing a very good job to keep his patience in check.

"Save her from a life without this handsome guy!" Aerith smiled.

Jaune and Ruby tried not to smirk. Of course the blond merc has to play the role of the concern boyfriend. The florist is really smart and a bit of a deviant.

"So that's how it is, huh? Well, I get lotta customers. Hard to keep track of 'em all."

The reaper and the Arc couldn't think straight. Just how many women has Corneo has had. And what became of them after they man got tire with their company. Neither wanted to think the possibility. Considering how ill Barret spoke of the Don. If he's really scum, then he's truly a scum.

"This girl, what she looks like?"

"Well…."

The ex-SOLDIER stood in thought. Logically he should give a brief physical description of his childhood friend. Maybe add what she was wearing when she was taken here.

"She's a great fighter" the merc paused okay, that was not a good answer.

Then again, that was all he could think. It's true, Tifa is strong and he has seen her fight. Shinra and all those monsters never stood a chance. Ruby, Jaune and Aerith sweat dropped at his answer. Seriously, that wasn't going to help. Need to provide more info.

"She's in her early twenties with long dark hair and chocolate eyes. But sometimes they would look like they're red" said the Arc.

"And she was wearing a pretty purple dress" added the silver eyed petite.

"I think it was dark lilac" the Huntsman stood in thought.

The florist couldn't say anything since she hasn't seen her. She couldn't take a long look at her when Cloud was talking to her in the carriage.

"You're talking about Tifa?" Sam immediately remembered her.

"That's her" the merc nodded feeling pleased at least this guy isn't try to lie to them.

"Oho, looks like someone's got a bit of a crush! Hate to break your heart, kid, but it's gonna be a long while before she sees the light of day again."

"What do you mean?" the merc didn't like it.

"She's a real pretty girl. Corneo's hosting another audition, and Tifa was chosen as a candidate."

"Is there a way to participate the audition?" Jaune stopped the florist from speaking they already knew this from Barret.

Sam stood in thought gazing at the only females in the group. He gazed at Ruby who only blinked at him then, he stared at Aerith.

"This little lady might be a potential candidate. But with get ups like those. You'll never get a spot."

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" the florist felt a bit offended.

"And that one looks too young but...She might also-"

"She's not participating!" all three members shouted in unison upset.

"What...Me? No way! If it means I have to wear a dress and...Deadly lady stiffs I'm NOT! I promise I will never wear them, ever!"

"Whatever, I'm done. Do me a favor and leave while you still have a chance. Forget about Tifa, she won't be leaving Wall Market for a while. Try to stay out of trouble."

The cowboy left going back to the house.

"And there goes our best lead yet. Maybe we'll have better luck in town. Let's check it out."

"I wonder if all you need to participate in the audition is wear a nice dress" said Jaune.

"He did said Aerith is a potential candidate" added Cloud.

"You guys think I should participate in order to save Tifa?" the florist stood in thought.

"We won't let you go alone silly. Of course we'll help" smiled the red cloak girl.

"Okay. But where are we going to find a dress for me?"

"Let's have a look around" said the ex-SOLDIER.

As the group head further they were surprised by the sight of the place. Jaune and Ruby were in awe with the many neon sings. Enough mako energy to light up all of Midgar. Wall Market is really different during the night. And they have already spotted many shady people walking. Remembering what Barret told them they will be taking his advice to heart. Might as well have the sing that says thieves, drugs, gamblers and hookers live here. That was enough to give them the idea the kind of person Don Corneo is. Among other things, someone got their attention. They couldn't believe to see Chadley the young researcher from Shinra, he was here in all places. The teen seems to be checking something on the device that was strapped on his right ear.

"Hello everyone" the youth greeted as he saw them.

"What are you doing here?" asked Aerith.

"I will go wherever my research leads me, but the success of me endeavors rests entirely upon you."

"Such dedication" said the florist.

"I'm glad I met up with you Chadley. Here you go, I've been wanting to give it to you for a while" Jaune handed his materia that gathers all battle information.

"Much appreciate it" he scanned it with his device before nodding pleased.

"Impressive. There's a lot of data in this one. This will do to create a new battle simulation. This time I'll be able to recreate summoning materia."

"You mean we'll get new summons?!" Ruby was hype getting more summoning friends.

"Indeed. You will have to defeat them in battle first through the simulation."

This caught the red cloak girl and the Arc by surprise. They received Odin and Valefor's materia from Aerith's mother before coming to this world. And they found a summon materia before arriving to Mako Reactor 5. So you just don't find it and it belongs to you know, or having it handed to you. Fighting and beating them was also another way to earn it. It will make sense you will have to prove yourself if you're worth of the power. Both smiled at each other. They were looking forward to fight any summon. Besides, they'll be able to see what they look like and what they're capable of.

"That's fine by me" said Cloud.

"Once you defeat the summon entity I'll be able to finish the materia. What do you say, would you like to participate in the battle simulation?"

"Aren't we in a hurry? We're suppose to find Corneo and save Tifa" said the florist.

"That's true. We don't have time to waste."

"We're doing this. We will need these new summons if we continue to fight Shinra" replied the ex-SOLDIER.

"He has a point. Who knows if we won't be able to see Chadley again for a while. We should do this now that we're here" followed Jaune.

The two girls nodded, guess both have a point. Better to be prepare than feeling sorry later.

"We'll do it" said the merc.

"Excellent. Now, I have enough data for two summons. Will you fight them individually or at the same time?"

"At the same time. We don't have the luxury to waste too much time" the blond merc was dead set in saving Tifa.

Neither of the three didn't seemed to have a problem or hesitate. Fighting two summons sounded challenging. Guess that was the best way to test their fighting capabilities and the limit of their strength. Chadley has taken four portable battle simulator VR sets handing them to the group. Each put on the device that goes on their eyes as they were all sent to the battle dome in the virtual reality domain.

They have already drew their weapons staring at the two summons before them. One was a beautiful woman with long blue hair and light blue complexion wearing a dress that was leaving little for the imagination. She was floating and her appearance gave away that she an ice type. If that was the case, they will have to rely more on fire magic. The second summon was an oversize Chocobo that looked like it could barely stand, let alone walk.

"Whoa, that's a huge Chocobo!" Ruby stood shocked.

"It's not huge, it's fat, very fat" replied Jaune.

"I hope it doesn't start rolling like a boulder wanting to ram us over" the reaper's imagination was truly remarkable.

The Arc sweat dropped. But then again, it's body shape is round like a ball. Maybe that's one of it's attack. Better be careful around him. The ice lady seems to be dangerous too. Should be expected from summons.

"Keep your guard up. Aerith and I will handle the ice one" said Cloud.

"Right. We'll go after the fat Chocobo" said the Huntsman while the Huntress nodded.

(Music: "Those who fight" from the FFVIIR original soundtrack)

The Fat Chocobo stood rooted the ground. Impossible for him to move when he suddenly threw a street cone. Jaune and Ruby dodged as they stood shocked. It was so random, never to see it happening. The summon made a Moggle appeared as the red cloak petite squealed at how cute it was. The Moggle threw a purple ball as it turned to a cloud of dust and emerged a living dark purple ball creature. The Arc took down immediately, it was weak. But what the heck was going on. This summon was a weird one and seeing how overweight he is, it made them feel sorry for it. The Huntsman told the reaper to go with meele attacks first to see if they can hurt it more. Using a combo they hurt the big Chocobo before it started to roll away like a boulder. Ruby was baffled, she was right all along.

Rolling away wasn't just his dangerous move but it was jumping too. The Chocobo must weight a ton and it can jump. The summon wanted to squash them with its weight. They were put on the defense, moving out of the way unable to take action. The petite used her semblance firing a couple of shots, knocking the big bird to the ground. Now was their chance as Jaune changed Crocea Mors to great sword mode. Both went all out still feeling sorry for the overweight summon. The Moggle that was still flying above it wasn't doing much. It got staggered as they kept it up. This fight wasn't that hard after all. The Arc gave a quick glance at Cloud and Aerith and it looked they weren't having any trouble at all.

The ice summon was quick, dodging attacks as she was casting ice magic. Aerith supported the ex-SOLDIER with fire magic, fire and fira while he focused on meele attacks. As expected, the woman was an ice element. Meaning, the elemental opposite would be very effective on her. She wasn't that tough as it was easy to avoid her attacks. She will mainly cast blizzard and blizarra. Still, the blond merc was keeping an eye if she decides to throw in a new attack that might be stronger than her ice spells. Any enemy can have an inner move that can be stronger than others. They will use it as a last resort.

Back with Jaune and Ruby, they thought they had this under control. They were wrong. The Fat Chocobo has proven not to be a problem but a very annoying opponent. It was now moving away, rolling like an unstoppable boulder. The Moggle aiding him has summoned more of those purple looking bomb creatures. There were three of them and they were being annoying too. The reaper kept taking them with her semblance but the small, cute and adorable Moggle will bring more. Her blond friend told her to fire on the one summoning them which shocked the petite. She couldn't, because it was too damn cute to open fire on it. It was way cuter than Zwei how can she fight something that has a high cuteness level.

But the Huntsman and Huntresses weren't forgetting who is the real target. The overweight bird creature that was rolling around like crazy. They already knew all elemental magic works against it so they needed to focus more. It was fast as it moves for something that's suppose big and heavy. They went with the water/thunder combo as it put a complete stop on the summon. They went on the attack again only for the Moggle to summon more of those ball-like creatures. This time, it brought ten. Jaune went hard summoning Odin as the demonic knight cast thundaga, destroying every single one. The lightning was so powerful that it hit the Moogle aiding the Chocobo summon, vanishing.

The Fat Chocobo wasn't out as he made a big green ball appeared and it got their attention. It was a bomb, a big one. Odin cast thundara on the bomb destroying it as it hit the summon rolling until it hit the wall of the virtual reality dome. It wasn't moving so the teens assume they were done. They have won the fight as the Arc called his summon back. With Cloud and Aerith the merc, has summoned Ifrit and that was enough to defeat the ice woman. Getting hit by his fire blazing attacks. Both summons were on the ground officially calling an end to the match.

(Music end)

The four removed the portable battle simulator pleased with their work. Those fights didn't took that long. Proof they have gotten stronger over time.

"Extraordinary!" cheered Chadley" every fight brings one step closer to understanding you. You are a mystery I simply cannot wait to solve. As promised, here are the materia of the summons Shiva and Fat Chocobo."

Cloud took both red spheres deciding to give Shiva to Aerith as she smiled accepting it. She still didn't had a summon materia unlike the rest. Wonder if he could give the Fat Chocobo to someone else. Guess he could keep it for now.

"Thanks Chadley. Say, you wouldn't happen to know where we can find Don Corneo?" asked Jaune.

"If you mean where he resides. His residence is north of here. It's a tower-like building you can't miss it."

So even he knew. The Arc was starting to feel stupid. He and Ruby have been coming here for months and yet they didn't had a clue about the one that calls the shots here. The group bid their farewells with the youth know exactly where to go.

The group followed Chadley's instructions going north of the city. Some of the things they saw weren't to their approval. Some creep stealing some drunk money, a man beating up another because he slept with his wife, someone getting kicked out of a casino because he ran out of money. Guess this was the nightly life in Wall Market. Keeping in mind there was no Shinra security so anyone can do anything they pretty please. As long as it was on the Don's approval. They can pretty much get away with it. Reaching an area that made Jaune and Ruby looked in awe. Because the designs of the buildings and houses reminded them of the ones from Mistral in the Anima continent. It looked so identical it almost felt like they were back in their world.

At the end of the street, there stood a beautiful stone stair case leading to a tall tower. Following the designs of the houses from Anima. It was bigger than other houses in the district. No need for a sing saying this is where Corneo lives. The place was huge. It fits someone who is a top dog like him. There was no one on the front gates which is too good to be true. No one around so they walked over to the large double gates. Cloud opened them only to see people ahead behind another similar wooden gate. Three looking thugs who have to Corneo's lackeys. The one in the middle was a young man with short spiky silver hair on the sides and clear blue eyes. Wearing a black cap with black jacket, white shirt with black pants, slightly below the knees with dark boots.

"Whoever you are. You have no business here. There's the door."

"We're looking for someone" said the merc.

"Lemme guess. First time in Wall Market."

"Yeah, so?"

"So people can't just walk through the Don's front door. Specially men."

"So he is here" said Jaune.

"How 'bout me, then? Can I go inside?" asked Aerith.

"You don't allow men? But you guys are men" said Ruby.

"Visitors" the young pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Oh, okay. Will you let me in-"

"No absolutely not" the Arc interjected nope he's not letting her in.

"Look. Do me a favor and walk away. You will wish not to come here."

"Y'know, Leslie. She's kinda cute. Homely, but cute" said one of the men obviously talking about the florist.

"The short one is cute too...I don't mind-"

The other man shut up when Jaune has drew Crocea Mors and backed off. The look the Huntsman was giving him was enough to make him crap his pants. The reaper just stood a little clueless to why he was acting like this while Aerith was all smiles.

"Really? She's seventeen, show some decency and restain. Back off and find someone else."

"Only twenty and above. Those are the rules stated by the Don. You guys know that" replied Leslie.

"Why won't you let us in?" said the ex-SOLDIER.

"No men. As for the young lady, don't you know what you're getting yourself into?"

"Aerith." Started the merc.

"Seriously, Les, she's not half bad! With a little work, I bet she'd clean up real nice."

"Cloud...Requesting permission to kill" the florist seemed to have reach her limit.

Ruby and Jaune stood shocked. This was the first time they have seen her angry. Boy she look like she was ready to use her staff and start taking names. Don't upset the Ancient.

"Denied."

"If you're really sure to join an audition, then you're gonna need to get official approval."

"And who can give us that?"

"The Trio-the only ones who're considered authorities on Corneo's particular tastes."

"Trio? Are they second in charge after Corneo?" asked the Arc.

"Something like that. They know how he works and what does he sees on a candidate. They're the only ones who can grant you approval to participate in the audition."

"First, there's Chocobo Sam. And then there's Madame M, over at the massage parlor."

"Madame M? Hey, we know who she is. We've been to her massage parlor before" said the blond Huntsman while the silver eyed girl nodded.

"Last but not least, there's the Honeybeen Inn's Andrea Rhodea. They're an eccentric bunch, to put it mildly, and you should know they don't recommend just any girl stupid enough to come knocking."

The Huntsman and Huntress didn't like the sound of that. Does that mean Aerith just lost her chances of getting picked.

"Hmm, duty noted. Thanks for the info. We'll be back soon."

"Do we really have to get an approval?" asked Ruby.

"Looks like it" the Arc gave a sigh.

"Tifa's probably further. Can't we just barge in and beat everyone up, I'm sure we can take them all on?"

"That's too reckless" said the florist.

"It might not be a bad idea. Maybe we can fight them all" replied Cloud" but like Aerith said, it's too reckless. This place isn't like other Sectors. They play by different rules and don't follow Shinra's laws, except Corneo's. We go in no holding back, we'll be looking for trouble. We'll catch everyone's attention, and Shinra might even get involved."

Both teens looked at each other not expecting that.

"Would Shinra really come?" said the petite.

"The people here will do anything for money. There's a reward for the capture of members of Avalanche. I'm sure they won't hesitate to contact them if they find out who you guys are."

"They're also be interested in looking for me too" followed the florist.

"I'm not officially with Avalanche but I am helping. I'm on their list as well" said the ex-SOLDIER.

"If Shinra does get involve, it will not look good for the people of Wall Market. If they were willing to destroy two mako reactors. Destroying a whole city will be a cakewalk for them" Jaune nodded.

"Guess we can't risk it. So, we'll go with the other choice" followed Ruby.

"Right. We need that approval."

"Time to find the Trio" said Aerith.

"You sure about this?" said the merc.

"We don't have a choice. We're not going with Ruby's idea. Let's do it the fair way" sad the florist.

They returned to Chocobo Sam telling him to accept Aerith to the audition. He agreed but only for the next one that might take weeks or months. They didn't had time urging the man to add her right now. He got away with it using a simple game of heads and tails. Rubty was the one to figured out the coin he's using was a trick coin. Having the same picture on both sides. But that was Sam's way of saying he wasn't going to do it. No choice but to ask someone else from the Trio. Their next choice was Madame M from the massage parlor. Jaune was pretty sure she will agree to let the florist in since he knows her. Maybe he and the reaper can convince her to give them the approval. Turns out when they arrived the door was locked. The place was closed making them go to the next member.

The third and last member of the Trio is Andre Rhodea of the Honeybeen Inn. Neither the Huntsman or the Huntress had a clue if they will have better luck. But they had a strong idea what kind of place is this inn. They decided to enter the place while the two teens were a little wary of the place. Seeing the uniforms the employees were wearing. The women however, oh boy. Waring sexy bee outfits making noticeable of their legs and thighs. Jaune's pervy side got the better of him again as he imagined Ruby wearing a bee outfit. His face blushed now it wasn't the time for this. The receptionist asked if they had an appointment to meet up the man in charge of the place. Without one he said the next one will be in three years. That was impossible, so they eventually left.

With no choice the group chose to go back to the massage parlor. Hoping Madame M has returned and open her the place. It wasn't looking good. If they couldn't get an approval from the Trio to be part of the audition, they might have to go with Ruby's plan. They were running out of options leaving them with charging in and take names. When they got back someone left the parlor in a hurry. They didn't got the chance to see who it was except for Cloud. The merc was able to tell it was Johnny a guy he met back in the slums of Sector 7 while doing his jobs. But what was he doing here. He chose to ignore it for now as they went in, the parlor was opened. Ruby and Jaune smiled seeing Madame M at the reception desk. Wonder if she recognizes them.

"Welcome!" the woman closed her hand fan smiling at the potential customers" now then, what matter of massage do you desire?"

"Hey, you remember us?" Jaune pointed at him and the red cloak petite.

"Hm...Nope. Your faces don't ring a bell. This is your first time in our establishment?"

"No, we've been here before months ago. Jaune came to get a free massage but he didn't because he gave up his coupon to a lady." said Ruby.

The attractive woman's feature changed to a scowl staring deep at the blond. Her hold on the fan tightened looking like she was about to break it.

"I remember now. Blasted coupons, taking my future money. Too bad for you. I made sure to get rid of every single one. If you want a massage you will have to pay for it."

"We're not customers, we're not here for a massage" said Cloud.

"Oh. And why are you here?" she has lost all interest in these people.

"We need an invite for Don Corneo's audition I-" Aerith started.

"Oh for the love-Say another word and I'll shove this fan right to your throat!"

The group was taken back by surprise. Her change in attitude came out of nowhere.

"This is the last thing I need. You're young and stupid and I suppose that means you'll think I'll let you off."

"We're only asking for your help. You don't have to be so rude" Ruby frowned.

"Children should be in bed at this hour."

"I'm not a kid!" the petite glared.

"Okay, let's all calm down" the Arc interfered" Madame M, are you going to help us? Chocobo Sam won't give us the invite and Andrea Rhodea can't see us. Leaving you as the only one to turn to. I'll pay for a massage if you agree to give us that invite. Or some extra gil if that's okay with you?"

She chuckled in return" if you're going try to bribe me then do it right. Hm...I suppose one massage will do. Depends, which one will you have?"

"I have...Less than two thousand gil" the Huntsman checked, yep around fifteen hundred.

Ruby had more than that all thanks to the steal materia she has equipped. She has taken quite the gil from the monsters she has beaten. And the Shinra officers.

"The Standard Course is a thousand."

The blond nodded taking the money from his pouch and handing it to her. Madame smiled with a glint of freen seeing the gil in her hand. Opening her fan with a smile of approval.

"All right. Make your way to the room in the back...and wait."

The Arc gave a nod turning to the three before leaving. The woman left shortly. All they needed to do now is wait. Hopefully it will be enough to convince her so she can give them the invite.

They decided to seat while they waited. Ruby was doing her best not to get bored. And not to get too worried for Tifa. Hoping the brawler was okay and that she wasn't in any danger. Then she was hearing some groaning coming from the Arc. Was she really giving him a massage or actually hurting him. Either way, this needed to be done to get on the woman's good side. The silver eyed girl could feel she was being stared at. Pulled to a hug by a smiling Aerith. Guess the florist has missed her a lot and so did she.

"Aren't you planning on telling me you and Jaune sleeping on the same bed? Cloud told me."

"Keep me out of it" the ex-SOLDIER didn't want to be included in any possible drama.

Silver eyes widened while the florist hide her grin. This was the best time to tease her about it. While the Arc was getting his massage she will be having some fun with the petite. As for the Huntress she has nothing to hide she will be wasting her time thinking she can get away with more teasing.

"We've been sharing a room from the place we've been staying in the Sector 7 slums."

"How long?"

"Ever since we escaped the incident at Mako Reactor 1. We don't complain we like Sector 7. It hasn't been the same without you."

"You and Jaune shared the bed?" she pressed on.

"The room has one bed so we share. I don't mind."

"What else happened?" boy she really wanted to know.

"That's how it's been for almost a month now."

"The bed you guys shared."

"We slept it in why do you keep bringing it up…." Ruby gasped as her whole turned red" NOTHING pervy happened!"

"You sure?"

"Yes! Why do people have to think something pervy has to happen?"

"It's a natural thing. A man and a woman sharing a bed is very...Intimate" now she was smirking.

"We only slept on the bed, nothing else" the red cloak girl frowned.

"Okay" Aerith smiled it was worth seeing her blushing face but, she wasn't done.

"I bet you like sharing the bed with Jaune."

The reaper's cheeks turned red. After what Tifa told her, she has been thinking more about the blond, more than usual. Remembering the times she slept with him, feeling his body to give her warm on those cold nights, hearing his soft snoring and even when he will poke her because of his morning wood. That last part really made her blushed like crazy. Aerith smiled deciding it was enough fun for now. She pulled the petite to a one arm hug. The Arc returned shortly with a pleased expression on his features. Madame M was right behind him.

"It was great right?" Ruby smiled remembering the time she got her massage.

"Yeah, I feel good. My body is like brand new."

"You're one of the Trio. I want to get into Corneo's next audition" said the florist.

"And why in the world would you want to do that? Hm...Okay"

"Thank you!" she smiled while the others were feeling relief.

"I'll give you the invite. But you'll need more than just the invite."

"What do you mean?" asked Jaune.

"Surely you can't expect to go one of his auditions wearing that!" she used her fan to point the young woman's attire.

The florist looked at her outfit. Well, they were aware that they will have to buy a dress. Corneo's tastes are questionable but he can be consider decent when it comes to fashion.

"I could never send Corneo a candidate wearing such a plain-looking get up."

Aerith frowned, okay now she was offended. Her outfit might not be top quality and considered pricey. But these clothes were a gift for her from her mother. Along other pieces of clothing and she loves anything from Elmyra.

"Doing so would call my position as one of the Trio into question."

Of course it has to be about keeping her reputation intact. Wealth, power and reputation. That seems to be what Wall Market is all about.

"Is something wrong with my outfit."

"We both like it. But, we knew you were going to need a fancy elegant dress for the audition, Something that screams expensive" said the Arc.

"Don't get upset. I don't like her either" whispered Ruby.

"It's comfortable, right?" replied the merc.

"Cloud, the fashion critic" the florist crossed her arms not sounding happy.

Both teens sighed.

"Look, just take it outside the parlor, would you?"

"Sorry, we'll stop. So...what should I do about the outfit?"

"Lucky for you, I know the perfect dress for you. Just leave everything to me. I'll put you in a dress so fabulous, you'll look like a million gil. So long as you can afford it."

Of course they weren't expecting her to pay for it. It will have come from their own wallet.

"How much?" asked the ex-SOLDIER.

"What I said. But don't worry. It's obvious you can't afford a dress with the kind of price tag. So listen, I have an idea. There's an underground colosseum in this town. Up for a fight, Cloud? The rest of your also look like you have some experience in the field. Because I'm getting you into that arena."

"There any price money?" said the merc.

"Yes-for the person who got you in. So? What do you say?"

So participate in the colosseum, win the price money that will go for Aerith's dress. Makes sense and they were impressed Madame M thought that far ahead.

"All right" the blond turned to the rest of the group who nodded they agreed.

"That's what I like to hear" the woman kept moving her fan as she went to the reception desk and picked some papers.

"You'll need these. They're the form to compete in the colosseum. Sing them up and hand them over to the receptionist in the front. They're already letting fighters inside. You should hurry, run along."

"Where's this colosseum?" asked the Arc.

"Northeast from Corneo's place. It's a really big building, you can't miss it.

"One more thing."

The four stopped near the door about to leave.

"If you lose, we never met. This conversation never took place."

"So much for much for believing in us" thought the Huntsman.

They signed the forms before leaving the parlor. Following the woman's instructions they arrived at a place that was filled with people. The employees were wearing traditional attires that the people from Anima would were. Just like Madame M guess, it's a custom to wear those kind of clothes around here. They went to one of them near a double door.

"We're here to compete" said the merc.

"I hope you know you're cutting it really close. So-the four of you are a team?"

Cloud wanted to include him, Ruby and Jaune. But he knew Aerith will immediately argue, wanting to join them. The ex-SOLDIER wasn't expecting a fair fight after seeing what Wall Market is all about.

"It's the four of us."

"That's good. I need to get into that audition, but I won't let anyone else fight my battles for me. That includes you, mister."

"We don't mind. The more, the merrier" Ruby smiled.

"All right, the team it is. Head to the waiting area down below" said the staff member.

The group went to the elevator as the door closed, it was going down. Madame M said this was underground, like literally. Seconds later the elevator stopped as the door opened. They were in straight corridor as a man was waving at them.

"Hey, lovebirds! Over here!"

The four stood in thought. Was he talking to them. Jaune was starting to feel nervous knowing how people will come up with any rumors. They will immediately point fingers that he and Ruby could be a thing. They turned to where the staff member was pointing as the large double doors opened. Revealing the center of the arena as the crowd was cheering loudly. There stood two men one of them wearing similar clothing as the staff but each had different physical traits. The second had an orange jacket with long dark pants and brown leather boots. One had a clean cut with dark hair with shades. The other with dark skin, a blond mohawk with shades too.

"In the city that never sleeps!"

"In the paradise of debauchery and sin-of pain and pleasure!"

"Where your every desire can be indulged for the fight price-Wall Market!"

"To your esteemed connoisseurs of chaos and bloodshed-we bid you the warmest of welcomes!"

"Are you sitting comfortably? For tonight the most gruesome spectacle anywhere in Wall Market or beyond shall be yours to witness! Here in the Corneo Colosseum!"

Jaune, Ruby and Aerith were in awe seeing the crowd cheering louder with quite the fireworks to followed. Those two announcers are very good, they really know how to reel in the crowd.

"Tonight's grand price is no less than one million gil! And there is only one way to get it: brutalize your opponent!"

"Thoroughly and utterly!"

"Viciously!"

"Without mercy!"

"Until they vomit blood!"

"Only the most ruthless fighters-"

"The savages still standing here at the end-"

"Shall claim the gil and the glory!"

"And now, the long awaited event in which the blood-starved beasts will battle for your amusement is upon us!"

"Warriors of every shape and size will fight to the death before your very eyes! In tonight's Corneo's cuuuup!"

More fireworks followed as all double doors closed. Well, that was a nice way to kick things off. If they wanted to hype the crowd, they sure did one hell of a job. The same staff member that called to them said to wait until it was time. They decided to have a look around until it was time for their match. Entering one of the rooms they saw someone sitting next to a desk. Cloud recognized the person, it was Johnny. And oh boy the guy didn't looked so good. His whole face was covered in bruises and some blood. It's like he has gotten the crap beaten out of him. Why was he here anyway.

"Are you okay?" said Ruby.

"Here…." Jaune cast cure on the red beat up red head.

"Thanks man. They already gave me some hi-potions. Don't think they're doing enough."

"What happened to your face?" asked Aerith.

"I just needed a little scratch, you know? So I signed up for the preliminaries, and well…I hope you guys realize what you're getting into. I don't wanna scare you but if you can make a run for it, you should."

"We can't do that. We have to save our friend" said the reaper.

They heard a sound of a bell.

*Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby. Your match will begin shortly. Please make your way to the gate.

"We're in way too deep to back out now" said the florist.

The group left the room heading where a staff member stood near the double door. He gave them a warning of not getting killed which they ignored. It couldn't be that bad, not after everything they have fought.

"For our next match, we welcome four fighters-and they're a young couple, no less!"

"Talk about a bad date!"

"This is their first tournament!"

"And most likely their last, inexperienced as they are-or are they?"

"Give it up for Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby!"

"Booo! Get lost! Go home! You suck!"

The double doors opened as the four saw the light. The colosseum was bigger than they thought.

"Couple!? Get out of here with that lovey-dovey bullshit!" shouted someone from the stands.

"'Sup with the pole!? Gonna do a little dance for us, baby girl?"

"Okay. Now I'm mad" Aerith was ready to find whoever said that comment and shove her staff where the sun doesn't shine.

"Ignore them. They're idiots and they're probably drunk. But mostly, idiots" said Jaune.

"Check out little red riding hood! Hey baby, I have something for you that you can ride on!"

Ruby had no idea what he was talking about. The whole red riding hood thing was unexpected. Turning to the Arc she gasped seeing his expression. Holy crap he was so mad like he was ready to kill someone. First time seeing him this pissed. The Huntsman was glaring at the crowd.

"WHOEVER SAID THAT YOU BETTER HOPE I DON'T FIND YOU!"

"What happen with ignore them, they're idiots?" asked the florist.

"They crossed the line" he drew his shield and Croces Mors.

"Why's Jaune angry?" whispered the petite.

"You'll understand someday" she smiled.

"Their opponent-one of Wall Market's own, a renowned master of beasts!" said the announcer Kotch" with his pets make a meal of our four challengers before our very eyes?"

"They're already been given the appetizer!" said Scotch.

"Their hunger for flesh and fear is unquenchable. The demon dogs of hell, Sanguine Stalkers!"

The large opened, revealing a man running for his life. He tripped and was about to killed when they heard a whistle. The group saw a man holding canine whistle. The innocent has already gone ahead running for his life.

"You brought animals?" asked the florist.

"Oh, first timers, huh? There's no rule that says you gotta fight man-to-man" the beast tamer who had an eye patch was holding a dagger and two dog-like creatures before him.

"He has a point" said the red cloak girl.

"Who will prevail in this brutal contest between man and beast!? This could be over in a distant, so don't even blink! Without further ado, the fourth match of the first round...Begins now!"

Jaune signaled Ruby as both went after the Bloohound. Letting Cloud and Aerith to fight the Beastmaster. The Huntsman and the Huntress were too much for the canines to handle as both were beaten quickly. And it didn't took that long for the ex-SOLDIER and the florist to defeat their owner. The crowd was shocked at first before they started cheering.

"Can you believe it!? I don't think anyone saw this coming!" said Scotch.

"What a completely unexpected turn of events!" followed Kotch.

"And the winner of the match are...Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby!"

"Not even a challenge" said the merch sheathing back his buster sword.

They only had to wait a few minutes before they were called again for the next match. The Huntsman and Huntress were pumped. That Beastmaster was too weak and easy. They have fought harder and stronger opponents. Though Cloud was in deep thought about the rules not making sense. Scotch and Kotch were in the arena ready to make the announcement.

"For the second match in our spectacular semifinals…Fresh from their first date of death, I present you the lucky couples!"

"More like" unlucky" for the rest of us!" Kotch mocked them in secrecy.

"Give it up once again for Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby!"

The doors opened as the four emerged walking over to the arena.

"Couples my ass! The hell you tryin' to pull!?"

"You assholes cost me a fortune!"

Best if they ignore them. The crowd obviously make bets on the contestants they think will win the match. Apparently, many bet on the Beastmaster. It didn't got well since he was defeated like he was a weakling.

"Their opponents-reavers of the scrapyard, thieves and killers through through! Too criminal for common criminals-the worst of the worst!"

"Ladies and gentlemen, check your pockets, because they may have already robbed you blind!"

"The most contemptible sons of bitches this side of Wall Market-Beck's Badasses!"

The doors opened as three people emerged and coughing from the smoke it was producing. Jaune and Ruby were clueless at the masked guys. But Aerith and Cloud has seen them before when they were traveling the Sector 5 and 6 underground.

"Hey, it's those guys!" said the florist.

"Hey...It's those guys!" repeated Burke.

"Hot damn! Been fixin' to feed you two your just desserts!" followed Beck.

"You know them?" asked the Arc.

"They were looking for trouble, we beat them up" replied the ex-SOLDIER.

"You guys were the ones who broke to our hideout! You started it!" said the masked leader.

"We did and we apologized. But you didn't gave us a choice. You weren't planning in letting us go" replied Aerith.

"Whatever. Let's get this over with. All right boys, time for round 2!"

"Yeah!"

"Hey, what do" just desserts" tastes like?" asked Butch.

The four sweat dropped at his comment. If they can be any dumber.

"Like justice! Like payback!"

Five thugs arrived as they stood behind the masked bandits. Yet the party wasn't intimidated by them. This was one of those" numbers aren't anything" situation. The merc have already seen what the bandits can do it won't make a difference if they were having help.

"And who are these unscrupulpous-looking gentlemen!?" said Scotch.

"It would seem that there are actually eight members of Beck Badasses!" followed Kotch.

"Hey! That's cheating!" argued the florist.

"I think it's clear there are no rules in these fights" said Jaune.

"They look like pushovers. I bet we won't break a sweat" Ruby readied Crescent Rose.

"Yeah, that's the only rule! If Corneo says it's okay then, you gotta suck it up!" confirmed Beck.

The large screen showed the image of what's suppose to be an animated version of the Don of Wall Market as he lifted a sing that says" ok".

"The Don has given his approval!" said Kotch.

"This is ridiculous!" said the Ancient.

"The odds are overwhelmingly stacked against them!"

"This could be a bloodbath. So I implore you, ladies and gentlemen-don't look away, or you may miss the best part!" said Scotch.

"The second match of the Corneo Cup's semifinals...begins now!"

The Huntsman and Huntress spread out going after the lackeys as Cloud and Aerith took on the three masked members. It happened so fats, all five of the lackeys were defeated by the reaper and the Arc. The three masked members have been beaten two as the merc and the florist didn't broke a sweat. This was indeed the case of numbers being nothing. They were took weak and the group was stronger with a whole lot more experience on their back. The crowd wasn't so shocked this time, as they cheered on the winners.

"Unfreaking-believable! What the hell did I just see!?" said Kotch.

"It was two against, uh, I don't remember how many exactly, but a lot! But somehow the winners of our match are...Once again Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby!" said Scotch.

"That kid's really something" said Sam.

The trio stood seated in their rightful throne-like chairs in their stands on the top floor. With the best view of the whole arena.

"I'd say all of them are something. Jaune in particular is better because I gave him a massage."

"You gotta admit, Andi-the way he moves is totally amazing!" said one of the Honeybee Inn girls that surrounded the throne of the one in charge of the place.

"Andi!"

The man stood in thought.

"We did it! One more match will do it!" cheered Ruby.

"Right. Next up: the big finale" said Aerith.

"The sooner we do this, the better for Tifa" followed Jaune.

"Yeah" the merc didn't sounded so sure.

"I thought you'd be happier."

"Just thinking what we might face next."

"I guess they could be saving the best for last" replied the Arc.

"But you know, we've made it this far. I'm sure we can handle anything they throw at us."

*Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby. The final match will begin shortly.

"Let's do this!" said the reaper.

"Ladies and gentlemen, our time together is almost over!"

"Tonight's thrilling Corneo Cup-filled with unprecedented upsets and drama-has only one match to go!"

"We know-we're just disappointed as you are! But ladies and gentlemen, all good things must come to an end! So let's celebrate by getting so damn loud-they'll hear us up on the plaaate!"

"Once more-the sweethearts who've surprised us with upset after spectacular upset! The power couples with a boundless love for bloodshed! The champions of Madame M-Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby!"

The gate opened as the four members emerged, walking to the middle of the arena. Jaune mentally sighed while blushing. He hasn't gotten over of them being called" power couples". That was just those announcers jumping to conclusions. Cloud and Aerith aren't like that. Him and the petite...Well, not so far from the truth.

"Yeah! Come on! Come on, you can do better than that!" Kotch was attempting to hype the crowd.

"And now-five time winners of the Corneo Cup! Murder machines with countless kill to their names!"

"Along with a handful of maimings."

"The deadly duo that takes out the trash-with a vengeance! The electric executioners...Chocobo Sam's champions...Cutty and Sweepy! Come on out!"

Hearing machines got their attention. It couldn't be, those were their opponents. The gate from the opposite side were sliced off like a hot knife through butter as the champions were indeed mechanical. One Sweeper and one Cutter. They all seem to be in top condition meaning, they currently undergo maintenance regularly.

"Robots!?" gasped the florist.

"We should have seen this coming" replied the Arc.

"We've fought plenty of them before" said the red cloak girl.

"Who will walk away with the one-million-gil prize!?" said Scotch.

"Get ready for a fight guaranteed to go down in history!" followed Kotch.

"The final match of the Corneo Cup...begins now!"

(Music: "Colosseum Deathmatch from the FFVIIR original soundtrack)

This match was going to take a little longer than previous. Beck and his gang and the Beastmaster were too weak. These two won't be a challenge but are tough being mechanized weapons of Shinra. Because there were more of them, they have the advantage over the mechs. Also, they know lightning magic is best suited against these things. Aerith was already ahead of them before anyone could give the order. She supported them casting thunder and thundara. This gave the rest to use quick attacks with Jaune and Ruby teaming up against the Cutter and Cloud on the Sweeper. The machines were getting beat up bad, not having a chance to defend. They were fast and they were getting damaged by the lightning attacks, getting staggered.

It didn't took long until they were destroyed giving the victory to the party. The crowd cheered so loud. No they like them. Probably because this time, they have bet a lot of money on them winning.

(Music end)

"This has never-! I can't believe it!" Kotch sounded so shocked.

"And the winners of the Corneo Cup-the deadly team, Cloud, Aerith, Jaune and Ruby!"

Ruby has shocked the Arc as she suddenly hugged him. Blushing the blond pretended not to be surprised smiling with her. Aerith smiled too hopefully, she can get the dress and save Tifa. Cloud stood in thought, being the only one not reacting to their win. Something tells him, it wasn't the end and things were going to get complicated.
