Jasper POV

After Hazel makes it out the door I am back to glaring at Peter who seriously has no idea what he's done. How dumb can he be right now.

"Char I think it would be best if you left right now." I leave no room for argument. She just nods her head and runs out the back door.

"Seriously man what just happened."

"Are you seriously that blind you have no idea how bad you just fucked up?" He just shakes his head.

"One you didn't correct Char when she called Nyx your friend, two you introduced Hazel as my mate but you didn't introduce Nyx as yours, and three you didn't notice that not only was Char all over you she was glaring dagger at your mate the whole time." He looks like he just got the wind knocked out of him. I mean if that was possible for vampires.

"Seriously Jasper I didn't pay attention."

"That's the problem man. You basically just denied you had a mate the whole time. How bad do you think that looks especially after the little show I had with Alice."

"Do you think she would ever forgive me Jasper?"

"Honestly man I don't know, but would you blame her if she didn't? Both of those girls have been through hell their entire lives and then here we come claiming to be their mates and then you basically deny that claim in front of a woman who clearly wants you. I really don't know.
I have told you for years that Char wanted to be more than your friend and you have constantly ignored me, and it may have just cost you, your soulmate." Peter roars and punches the wall making a decent sized hole.

"Look man I know you're pissed but don't break the house take it to the woods, I am gonna go check on our girls." He just nods. I run out to my truck and haul ass to Hazel's apartment, when I get there I see her trying to carry Nyx to her car. I don't even think I just run vampire speed to her not caring who sees.

"Hazel what happened?" When she looks up at me I just see the tears running down her face.

"Jasper I don't know when I got home I found her passed out in the living room I have to get her to the hospital." I pick Nyx up in my arms and carry her to my truck laying her down in the backseat.

"Come on I'm driving." Hazel just nods her head climbing into the passenger seat. I drive as fast as I can to the hospital not caring about the speed limit. We get there in record time and I carry her into the emergency room where they have a bed waiting, I look to Hazel.

"I called ahead they always try to make sure they have something waiting for us." I just nod. I wish this wasn't so normal for them. It's been a couple of hours and Nyx still hasn't woken up, but finally the doctor comes in.

"Hazel I am sorry to see you again I hoped you wouldn't be here so soon."

"Me too Doc. So do we know what's going on."

"Honestly it's probably just too much stress. When I called about a week ago I told her to be careful and not stress too much or this could happen."

"What do you mean when you called a week ago?"

"I'm sorry Hazel I thought you knew. I called Nyx with her test results she's worse. There is nothing left that we could do for her. She has less than a year to live at best and that was if she stayed away from stress. But after this episode I would give her six months max. When you brought her in her heart rate was so low it almost stopped completely. Just today we almost lost her from the stress."

I can't believe what the doctor is saying. I thought Nyx said she had more time. Now come to find out she has less than half a year. I don't know what my Hazel is going to do without her best friend. I can feel Hazel's turmoil and guilt. Nyx never told her about the phone call and she is clearly blaming herself for not knowing how sick her friend truly was. Before she can collapse on the ground I take her in my arms rocking her in my arms while she cries.

"I didn't know, Jasper she didn't tell me it had gotten this bad."

"She probably didn't want to worry you darlin. She loves you so much."

"I wish I knew Jasper I would've spent more time with her. I would've watched over her more. Why did she feel like she couldn't tell me."

"Because that's exactly what you would've done Hazel" we hear from the bed next to us. "you would've dropped everything to make sure you were taking care of me and that includes Jasper. I couldn't let you do that. You finally found a guy you cared about and I wouldn't be selfish and let you give that up for me. You had already given up so much."

Hazel takes Nyx hand in hers. "Your my sister Nyx if Jasper loves me like he says he does then he would've stuck around anyways." I just nod my head because it's true I would do anything for Hazel and in turn I would do anything for Nyx I truly see her as a little sister now.

"I know Haze but sometimes you have to live your life for you and not for me."

Hazel just crawls into the bed next to Nyx and they lay there in each other's arms. In this moment I made the decision that even if Nyx didn't take Peter back I would turn her so that Hazel wouldn't have to lose her sister. So I wouldn't lose MY sister.

By morning the doctors are talking about releasing Nyx by the end of the day after a treatment but she's still in clothes that she has been in for a couple of days now so we agreed that when they take her for her treatment I would let Hazel take my truck to their place to get Nyx some clothes and let her freshen up while I ran home to change and I would meet her back at her place and we would head back to the hospital and wait for Nyx's test results then I would take them home.

It didn't take too much longer for them to come get Nyx. I walked Hazel to my truck, you can tell this girl is special because no one and I mean no one drives my truck.

"Are you gonna be alright heading home darlin." She just nods her head.

"I'll be okay but hurry back Jasper please." She kisses me softly on the lips before she starts up my truck and heads out the parking lot.

I start running towards the ranch stopping for a quick bite just to be safe. When I get home Peter is waiting for me on the porch. Oh boy here we go.
