Chapter 17
Being in what felted like a dream state, Jane was talking to Barry Frost, asking him if she was dead, he said no you just in Limbo. A place where your mind, body, and soul can rest. Walking her to the window of her ICU room, she saw her beautiful wife, laying in the hospital bed next to her earthly body, she look like she had been crying. Frost told her that she was living the life that she was meant to live, as a Detective, wife, mother, and friend. Because of the life she had chosen, she had made a huge difference in various people's life, alot she had no idea who life she effected. He told her to close her eyes, when she did various people and things flashed before her eyes. Opening her eyes again, she said she the only thing she would have changed was being was not to have taken so long to be with her Maura. That loving Maura made her the person she was today, she had opened Jane up to see other things. Frost says Jane all of us know that both of you was in love with the other, the love you both share, some people never get to experience it. You my friend are one of the few lucky ones, who do. Are you ready to go back? Yes Frost I am, but I have one question, why are you the one here with me? Jane you saved me several times on Earth, now I am doing you a solid. As she was looking through the window, Korsak walked in with food and drinks, standing there he looked down at Jane's body laying still in the hospital bed, with Maura protective arm around her waist. Frost place his hand on Jane's shoulder, he tells her that the old man thinks of her as a daughter, and that he is one of the ones that changed his life, before being partnered with Korsak he was about to eat his gun, but she made him a better man, cop, and mostly a friend. Telling Frost that she is ready to go back, Frost gave her a nod and with one last word he said Congratulations on another Rizzoli-Isles, and then he was gone.
Jane could hear the buzzing of different machines, could hear the voices of Maura, Korsak, and her Doctors, as she was waking up. The Doctors were saying how lucky she was the bullet to her head had got stuck in the right side of her skull, causing her brain to swell, they had shaved her hair and drilled a hole, inserted a tube to help rethe swelling and drain all unnecessary blood and fluid off her brain, the bullet to her chest had only cause a few broken ribs, a collapsed lung, causing them to put a tube on the right side of her chest, and finally the bullet to her right leg had shattered the bone and did damage to the muscle, but she would make a complete recovery, she had been out for 9 days, and if she followed all the instructions given. "Fuck my head and chest hurt" was the words first spoken with a raspy voice. Maura turned to look and her hazel eyes were met with chocolate eyes, careful not to hurt her wife, she leaned in and place a kiss on chaste lips. Looking into her wife's eyes, saying "Jane Clementine Rizzoli-Isles, you scared me, don't ever do that again, promise me." "Jeeves, I am sorry, Maur, I didn't plan on this happening, I am really sorry, forgive me please, baby." Oh Fuck, for shit sakes, what happened to my hair, Maur?" Language Jane, and it was shaved off. Hearing the clearing of throats, Jane and Maura looked at the Doctors and Korsak standing there watching them bickering. Korsak said Jane I am glad you are ok, you gave us all a scare, I will come back later after the Doctors leave. Jane said no stay, you are family. The Doctors examined her, went over the next steps in her recovery, and plans to remove all the tubes, drains, monitors and lastly the IV over the next few days, also made arrangements to move her to a private room. Asking how long she would have to stay in the hospital, the reply she got was it depends on her. Her Doctors were Cain s neurosurgeon, Dr Kelly a orthopedic surgeon, and the asswipe Dr Slucky, who kept eyeing her wife, Maura. Maura could see Slucky was pissing Jane off, and she was glaring at her, mouthing behave, and be nice. Jane just smiled back at her ignoring Dr Slucky. Once everyone had left, Maura crawled back into the hospital bed with Jane, she wasn't feeling good, and desperately want to feel her wife's arm around her. Korsak had contacted Arthur, Constance, KiKi, Cavanaugh, Frankie, Nina, and also Paddy Doyle to let every know that Jane was awake. Both women fell asleep, holding each other.
Waking up several hours later, Jane watched her wife sleep, thinking bad to her conversation with Frost, she remembered the last thing he had said, "Congratulations on baby Rizzoli-Isles", could Maura be pregnant, and not have told her. They had gone through the whole IVF process again, right before the case involving the college students. Things had gotten crazy, they were supposed to go to the Doctor, but due to the craziness, they forgot. Maura started to stir, leaning in Jane place a kiss right below her ear, asking her how are you feeling, baby? Maura rubbed her eyes, leaning in for a proper kiss, she said better. Breaking apart from the kiss, both saying I love you, before sharing a longer passionate kiss. Asking Jane if she was in pain, did she need anything, Maura rested her head on Jane's shoulder. Breathing in her wife's scent, Jane closed her eyes, Maura always calm her, center her, and settled her. Clearing her throat, Jane said "Maur, do you think you could be pregnant, we need made it to the Dr. appointment that day?" Lifting her head off Jane's chest, she looked into her wife's big chocolate brown eyes and said "Jane, I honestly don't know, I have not been feeling well, but I figured I was tired from the case, tending to you and our children, my book being published, and also the stress of the last few months." "Maur, please go get a pregnancy test, take it and then make an appointment." "Jane, why are you asking me to all of that, I am just overtired." As she was about to answer her, the door opened allowing their children, and her in laws to enter. All the children ran to their's Mama's bed, Ava Grace was trying her best to crawl up into the bed to get to her Mama and Mommy, along with the rest of her brothers and sisters. They all visited till visiting hours was over, Ava Grace had fell asleep half laying on her Mama and Mommy. Jane had try to get Maura to go home and be with their children, knowing she had not left Jane's bedside over the last 9 days. But she was fighting a losing battle, all Maura had to do was bat her eyes at Jane and start pouting, she could never say no to her, when she did that. Maura had Jane so whipped and wrapped around her finger, that she could get Jane to do anything she wanted and knew it. Falling asleep in each other's arms, both women loved that feeling, it was the best feeling in the world.
Over the next 2 weeks, Jane was healing nicely, she was fitted for a brace for her right leg, PT was going good, she was scheduled to be released tomorrow. Maura had managed to get Jane's hair from the hospital, she was having a wig made for Jane. Maura loved her wife's unruly black hair, so she was surprising Jane. She could see it bother Jane not to have her hair, she had a scar on her head, so it really bother her, she would wear her Boston Red Sox cap or beanie, BPD beanie and a beanie that her children had given her that said Badass. Her Doctors were all pleased with her progress, they had all agreed that Jane body being in top physical shape, had been a good factor, her body was muscular, and lean, just the way her wife, Maura liked it. Jane always worked out daily in the gym, ran daily, as well as the workout in their bedroom, their sex life was a very physical one, Jane stigma in the bedroom was out of this world, which please Maura. Maura loved her wife's body, she was in tip top shape, her lean, muscular body, drove Maura mad sexually. She was ready to get her wife home, in their bedroom. Today Dr Slucky had decided to pay Maura a visit in Jane's room, thinking Jane was in PT. He had pick up flowers, some coffee, and pastries, thinking he could woe Maura. As he straighten his tie, and lab coat, he didn't bother to knock, he just gently pushed open the door, instead of surprising Maura, he got the shock of his life, Maura was laying in Jane's hospital bed with the sheet covering her, with Jane's head between her legs, Maura was gripping the handrails knuckles white, sweating and trying to keep from screaming as the powerful orgasm hit her, just as Jane begins to kiss her way up Maura's body, Slucky drops everything in his hands, Jane covers Maura with her body and bed sheet, shielding Maura, Jane asked "What the Fuck is going on?" Maura is hiding behind Jane, throwing on one of Jane's t shirts, and pair of sweatpants, trying to hand Jane the same thing to put on. Maura hit the call button. Quickly throwing on her set of t shirt and sweatpants, Jane stands up and approaches Slucky, he is just standing there not saying anything. Finally he looks at Jane who is now standing a feet in front of him, she asked him again, "What the Fuck is going on and why is he bringing flowers, coffee and pastries to her room, knowing she was scheduled for PT?" Jane is pissed, getting furious by the minute, she hated when a person doesn't answer her. She feels a small hand on her arm and back, a calming voice "telling her to please calm down, because of her blood pressure." A doctor, nurse and security officer are now at the door of her room. Again she asks him the same question, finally he answers "that he was bringing the flowers, coffee and pastries to Maura, as a way to ask her out, woe her and maybe they could reconnect and dated again. He feels a strong connection to Maura and she must feel it to. And Jane is supposed to be in PT, why was she not there?" By this this the CEO of the hospital is there to. Maura know it is time for her to intervene, stepping up next to Jane putting her arms around her waist, Maura tells Slucky, " that she has been happily married to Jane for almost 8 years, they have 5 children together, she has never felt a connection to him, that he is a self centered asshole, who has try several times to make passes at her, hit on her and make suggestions unbecoming of a Doctor of his status, everytime that her wife, Jane has been a patient of his. That he is very lucky that Jane is recovering from her injuries, or she would most definitely kick his ass." Turning to the CEO, the doctor, nurse and security officer, she informed them "that Jane will be leaving today instead of tomorrow. Turning back to Slucky, she said maybe you need to check with PT or other departments, before coming to a patient's room unannounced, that PT had cancelled Jane's PT." Gathering all of their things, signing the discharge papers, getting the instructions, prescriptions, texting her parents letting them know that they were on their way home, and finally the nurse enter with the wheelchair Jane sat down and was wheeled down to Maura's awaiting car, assisting Jane to the car and buckling her in, Maura hurried around to the driver's seat and took off in the direction of their home, stopping to dropped off Jane's prescriptions at the pharmacy.
Arriving home she gently woke up Jane with a gentle, soft kiss, she unbuckled both seatbelts, and ran around to Jane's side, helping her out and into their home. Five excited children greeted them, TJ and Frost help get Jane to the sofa and Ava Grace sat on her Mama's lap turning on the TV, while Sofia and Connie help Maura in the kitchen gathering snacks and drinks to be taken into the living room. TJ and Frost carried the suitcases, and other bags upstairs to their parent's room. Asking Jane what she wanted to eat, she said "baby anything but hospital food." Arthur and Constance came over, to check on Jane and see if they could help. While Constance and Maura were in the kitchen, Constance handed Maura a bag that Maura had asked her to pick up while getting Jane's prescriptions. Placing the orders for food, she had ordered 6 different kinds of pizza, 6 Chinese dishes, 6 different salads, 6 dishes of french food with 4 special desserts, and Jane favorite dessert from her favorite restaurant and 4 other dishes. Korsak, KiKi arrived and then Nina, Frankie and their twins Chaz and Cathy. They visited Maura sat next to Jane, she would hold Jane as she dozed on and off, enjoying the laughed and being surrounded by the people she loved the most. The food arrived, the older kids sat at the Island, while Arthur sat at the head of table, Frankie, the twins, Nina, KiKi, Korsak at the other end, Ava Grace, Maura, Jane, and Constance. The food was spread out for everyone to eat what they wanted, Maura had fixed Jane's plate including salad and vegetables, waiting for Jane to say something, Ava Grace plate had the same thing as her Mama's, and finally Maura fixed her, along with drinks, everyone was drinking beer or wine at the table, except for Jane, Maura and the kids. Dinner was full of laughter, and storytelling. It didn't take long for the kitchen to get cleaned, trash was taken out, the children was bathed and put to bed, Jane was resting on the sofa, Maura went upstairs to unpack, take a bubble bath, and tend to a couple other things. Coming back downstairs, Jane was resting with her eyes closed, Maura hurried into the kitchen, gather Jane's meds, a bottle of juice and water, and a plate for Jane's dessert and place everything on it, picking up the tray she carried it to living room. Setting it down on the coffee table, she sat down and kikisses Jane's lips
Opening her eyes Jane smiled into the kiss, saying I love you as she kissed Maura. Seeing the tray, she raised her eyebrow asking what do we have here beautiful? Giving Jane her medicines with a bottle of juice, Maura picked up the plate and handed it the Jane, removing the lid off the plate, Jane saw the piece of chocolate cake, as she was picking up her fork, something else caught her eye, it was a white plastic stick, picking it up she looked at it, her eyes went big, seeing the word pregnant in the circle, she smiled her biggest smile. Pulling Maura into her lap, kissing her passionately, breaking the kiss, she asked Maura if it was true, she said yes. Pulling out another pregnancy test from her robe pocket, that said PREGNANT.
