Forks, Washington.
Rosalie paced back and forth the Cullen house, after her and Esme stayed in Forks to make sure Charlie was safe from Victoria or the Tracker, whilst the others went to Phoenix to save Bella. Esme had got the message from Carlisle that they were on their way home, however, Bella had been badly injured and was in the hospital, Rosalie had been so anxious for their return, Her and Emmett hadn't been apart for this long before and she knew what they had gone to do was dangerous. "Rosalie stop pacing, they'll be home soon." Esme said to her daughter softly, "I can't." Rosalie muttered quietly as she bit on her lower lip, before hearing the door open. Speeding straight to Emmett she placed her hands on the either side of his face, looking concerned for him, "Are you alright?" She asked him, almost checking over him to make sure he was not hurt, Emmett smiled at his wife's concern and moved his hands to her hips, "I'm fine babe…" He whispered leaning down to kiss her deeply, he had missed her, he knew how much Rosalie hated the idea of them separating for something so dangerous, but he quite enjoyed the thrill of it all, he did hate being away from her though. Rosalie sighed in relief resting her forehead on his, closing her eyes softly, just enjoying their moment together.
"The tracker is dead, Bella should make full recovery soon enough...now I fear Victoria will come after us." Carlisle said to them, mainly Esme and Rosalie, "So this isn't over then?" Rose asked, folding her arms leaning her back against Emmett's chest as he rested his hands on her arms, "I'm afraid not." Carlisle said looking at his daughter, Rose just sighed and rolled her eyes unimpressed. "For now, just rest, it's been a rough few days." Carlisle said to his family, before Esme hugged him tightly. Jasper and Alice cuddled each other on the sofa and Rosalie took Emmett's hand leading him up to their room. Kissing him deeply when they were in complete privacy, "I've missed you so much." He whispered on her lips, "I've missed you too, I was so worried." Rosalie responded, she was only truly vulnerable around him, only really showed her softer, more selfless side to him, as did he, he only really dropped his tough guy persona around her, they were completely vulnerable and comfortable around each other. "Let's go away somewhere...just you and I." Rose said softly with a smile, "Where do you want to go?" Emmett asked with a smile, they shared a passion in travelling and were both so grateful they had each other and forever to travel the world, "Africa." She whispered softly, "Africa sounds perfect." Emmett replied before leaning down and kissing her deeply, before throwing her on the bed to make up for some lost time.
2004
Forks, Washington.
After graduation and prom, Rose and Emmett took some time out and travelled to Africa. They had chosen to go for a few months as they wanted to visit as many countries in the continent as possible, but Emmett wanted to leave a bit earlier because he wanted to be there for Bella's 18th birthday. Alice had told them about the party she was planning for her and Emmett didn't want to miss out, Rosalie wasn't so keen on the idea and hated the thought of them missing out on time together because of Bella, but Emmett had convinced her and promised that he'd make it up to her, so, as sour as she was about it, Rose agreed to go home and be on her best behaviour around Bella.
Rosalie was in her room getting ready, looking in the mirror as she styled her blonde hair, she was happy to be home, she had missed her family, but she did not enjoy the fact that she was going to be around Bella again, she had enjoyed a life without Bella, even if it was just for a few months. "You almost ready babe? They'll be here soon." Emmett said coming from downstairs, Rosalie turned to face him before standing up, "I guess so." She said really not excited, she was wearing a mid length black dress, black heels to match and of course her Cullen family crest around her neck, "You look beautiful." He said with a smile, walking towards her, "Thanks." She said softly, she wasn't meaning to be blunt she just really wasn't looking forward to this. "Come on babe, it's just tonight." He said softly to her, Rose looked at him and didn't say anything just nodded before spaying a little bit of perfume and heading downstairs with him.
"Rosalie, you go first." Alice said to her, forcing the present into her hand, Rosalie gave a dead look to her sister before handing it to Bella, "It's a necklace, Alice picked it out." Telling Bella what it was, making it evident that she didn't want to do this but not being completely rude about it. Emmett just smiled at her 'attempt' before pulling his wife to the first platform at the steps, his hand resting around her waist and kissing her cheek softly, "Thank you." He whispered referring to her behaving. Rosalie rolled her eyes at Emmett's engagement with Bella over her truck, Edward couldn't help but smile at her thoughts, this was torture for Rose but he was grateful she had come and made the effort, especially from her trip - although he knew this was all for Emmett more than for Bella. Then, the silly human as Rosalie would refer to her, cut her finger whilst opening a present, 'Who even does that?' Rosalie thought to herself as she smelt the blood, although she didn't think for a second about Jasper being unable to control his Cullen diet commitments, it was only when Edward had shoved Bella into the desk that she realised it was serious. 'Way to go Edward, more blood.' she thought to herself as Edward's actions caused Bella to bleed out more. She watched as Carlisle and Emmett wrestled with Jasper, restraining him. "Get Jasper out of here!" Carlisle ordered as he attended to Bella, she watched as her husband attempted to wrestle Jasper out but saw that Jasper was fighting against him so helped her husband by grabbing Jasper's other arm and leading him outside so he could calm down, Alice and Esme following.
"I told you having a human around wasn't good for any of us!" Rose said simply as she blocked the doorway to prevent Jasper from getting back in as Emmett held onto him and Alice calmed him down, "Rose! This is no time for comments." Esme said to her, causing her to roll her eyes. After Jasper calmed down, he instantly felt guilty, Rose actually felt quite bad for Jasper, he never meant harm to anyone, he was a good soul but he struggled, his thirst for human blood was a lot more harder for him that it was for the rest, she understood that though, when Emmett lost control all those years ago it made her feel guilty that she couldn't help him, but mostly because of how much he would beat himself up after. "Rose, go see if Carlisle needs help." Esme told her as they supported Jasper, Rosalie had medical training because she was helping Carlisle keep up to date with his line of work. Rose rolled her eyes before heading back inside, but before getting to the room where they were, Roses stopped having heard the topic of conversation between Bella and Carlisle was about her.
"Is there something I can do? To make Rosalie more accepting of me?" Bella asked Carlisle softly as he stitched her up, she felt bad, she wanted some sort of relationship with Rose like she did with the rest, but Rose made it evident that she did not want her here. "Rosalie is a very complex person Bella, you just have to understand her." Carlisle said softly, "Rose never wanted to be a vampire, I feel tremendous guilt for that every day, I think she still struggles with being able to completely accept this life. She is a good person deep down Bella, she loves her family and is very protective of us all, she may not have wanted this life but she will most definitely do whatever it takes to protect the way we live, in order for us to live peacefully and as normal as possible." Carlisle said to her, he loved Rosalie and knew she could be difficult, but he also knew his daughter and knew she was not a bad person, "I ruined that I suppose?" Bella asked simply, "It's still new for us all...It just takes Rosalie a little longer than the rest of us. Give her time and don't take it so personally, she's been through a lot. One day you'll see she's not as cold and mean as she seems, I actually think she's the most selfless one out of all of us." Carlisle admitted, Bella nodded her head, "I suppose she only really shows that to Emmett huh?" Bella asked with a soft laugh, Carlisle laughed too, "Mostly...but she surprises us every now and then." Carlisle said with a smile finishing up. "Just give it time, I know my daughter...she will come round." Carlisle reassured her. Rosalie just sighed listening before heading back outside to the rest of her family.
A few days later, Edward had made the announcement that he had broken up with Bella - something didn't add up right, but they just accepted it and the family packed up and left Forks, and moved to Ithaca, New York.
Rosalie was happy about the move feeling that their lives had gotten so messy that they needed a fresh start. In the months they were there, Jasper became a philosophy student, Carlisle began working at night, Rosalie and Emmett got married again and Edward had left the family because he was so broken about leaving Bella. Rosalie didn't like that though, the coven was not complete without Edward. She just wanted everything to go back to normal.
And just like that, another few months had passed and the new year came in.
