MARCH 18TH 2018
Rachel stared at the women curled on the floor in between the bus seats. They had calmed down considerably.
The growls and moans of zombies died out ten minutes ago. Rachel had already stealthy poked just her head at eye level to actually do a head count. There were twelve zombies.
That's more than what she originally thought but at least it was a small number. She gestured with her hands to Shelby and Santana.
She mouthe 'Stay down, don't move and be quiet.'
They both nodded and Rachel took a moment to send a prayer. She ever so slowly began to lean forward in controlled movement. She got on all fours and began crawling toward the front of the bus.
She knew where the zombies were scattered just standing without a source for food. She crept to the drivers seat and began to crawl into it.
She pulled her knife from it's sheath and gently pried a corner panel open. She stilled and waited for anything but nothing came.
She breathe a sigh than lowered her head to look at what wires she'd need to cut and set to start the engine. After a few minutes she had found what wires she needed.
She looked back at the two women on the floor poking their heads out from different seats watching her. She nodded at them and they nodded back.
The two scrambled back behind the seats hearts pounding and tears already forming. This was it. Their chance out.
Rachel already knew her way out of the parking lot having already mapped the area with Frannie back at base before they headed out for the trip. Having been waiting for the apocalypse and their chance to save Quinn.
Rachel took one more second before connecting the wires than the bus came to life and the zombies snapped to attention.
Rachel immediately sat up and the moment she did her eyes narrowed as they ran toward the bus. She stepped on the gas and ran them over as she peeled out of her spot and headed for the ramp.
Being sure not to drive too fast as to not have gravity shit on them by tilting the bus over by momentum.
She rounded the first corner and shook her head as more zombies came into view. Her heart began to beat madly as realization that what she thought might be true must be.
Because the second she rounded the third corner of the ramp there were over two dozen of them.
She grit her teeth as she drove straight to the exit where the evening sun was shining. Running over as many as possibly than she broke through the toll booth and what came into view had her boiling in anger.
Prisoners. Prisoners and security guards where every where. When she and Frannie first came through
"HOLD ON!" Rachel yelled as she drove straight through a horde. The numbers were staggering.
She pressed down on the gas harder as she drove straight for the security gates.
Santana and Shelby screamed as the bus lifted up and down, up and down after rolling over body after body.
JANUARY 2012
Rachel stared down at her hands. She was statuesque, still shocked by the events of the day.
Quinn had been arrested. Quinn murdered her father in cold blood. Quinn told her she's in love with her.
She didn't and couldn't understand. How someone who is so sweet, kind, gentle and loving murder her own father.
Quinn's words kept swirling in her head. Not only the 'I'm in love with you' part but the baby. No, she had said our baby. Theirs.
How or what made Quinn believe such a thing is possible is beyond anything Rachel could comprehend at the moment, if ever.
All she does understand is that even if it is wrong and no one will understand. She's still just as ever is devotedly in love with Quinn.
JANUARY 2012.
Quinn stared down at her bloody hands with dazed eyes. She murdered her father. She murdered her father and it isn't the apocalypse. He wasn't a zombie. She was in jail. Her mother knows. Rachel knows.
There's no baby and though a part of her felt like it was the right thing to do the other half of her is disgusted with herself. Praying for her father's forgiveness but knowing she doesn't have it.
She couldn't believe what she's done. Now the base wasn't finished. The apocalypse was coming there's no way out. She tried to prevent Rachel's future from repeating itself and now she fucked them over any way. She hadn't finished tringing them. Preparing them. Give them certainty. Sam's parents were once again going to be stuck in Tenness.
God what has she done?
MARCH 18TH 2018.
Rachel rammed through the gates picking up more speed. She watched as zombie after zombie chased the bus. There were hundreds of them in the town square.
"FUCK!" Rachel shouted as she hit a postal box. "SHELBY! SHELBY COME HERE!"
Shelby was jostled as she got to her feet than staggered her way to the front and the moment her eyes took in the mob in front of them she gasped as she felt herself beginning to tremble.
"SHELBY! DON'T LOOK AT THEM! SHELBY I NEED YOU TO FOCUS!"
But Shelby couldn't hear her. Her state was catatonic. All the their faces permanently engraved in her mind for eternity.
"WHAT DO YOU NEED!" Santana said as she stumbled to the front. Her eyes bulged but other than that and a pounding heart Santana stood focused.
"SIT HER DOWN!"
Santana did as she was told grabbing Shelby by the shoulders and stumbling both of them to a seat than headed back to Rachel.
"WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?!"
"GRAB MY WALKIE! RADIO IN THAT WE'RE OUT AND HEADED IN THEIR DIRECTION SIX AND HALF MILES OUT! WE'LL RADIO BACK WHEN IT'S SAFE!"
"GOT IT!" Santana said as she grabbed the walkie from Rachel's waist belt.
Santana grabbed the walkie and stumbled her way back to the first seat at the front. Her eyes took in the faces of zombies every where.
She lifted the walkie to her lips with trembling hands. "Brit! Britney, can you hear me?!"
Older Britney jolted upright and grabbed the walkie. "San?! I'm here!"
"We're out of the prison! Rachel says we're six miles out and headed toward you!"
"Okay, we'll set up for you're escape. Tell Rachel we'll be parked in the trees tell her to crash when she gets at least two thousand feet from rendezvous."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!" Santana said as her eyes bulged.
"TELL HER I HEARD, ROGER THAT!" Rachel shouted back than did a sharp turn down the main square causing Shelby and Santana fall side ways.
JANUARY 2012. SUE, SAM, AND BLAINE.
"Wait, so you want her to further back?" Sam asked.
"Yes, did I not make myself clear?" Sue asked.
"Yeah but if older Britney goes that far back than what about Britney and Leroy?"
"She could take them with her. It's not like she's dumb enough to let them get seen but if they go back at this specific time and date, they can help me catch that piece of crap Dennis and stop all this before it happens."
Sam and Blaine looked unsure.
"You two have any better ideas? Because this time traveling nonsense and the rest of the crap Older Brit and mini Barbra explained sounds like we fail and I don't know about the two of you but I'd much rather not have a zombie apocalypse happen."
"I guess you're right." Blaine agreed.
"Yeah, okay." Sam followed.
"Good." Sue said as she placed the bottle in Britney's desk for Britney to find.
MARCH 18, 2018.
Rachel gritted her teeth as she bulldozed past another small horde of zombies. She saw their pick up point in the distance.
"SHELBY, SANTANA! GET UP HERE NOW!"
The two brunette's stumbled their way to the front.
"LISTEN UP! IN TWO MINUTES I'm GOING TO CRASH THIS BUS!"
"WHAT?!"
"THE HELL YOU ARE!"
"WE HAVE TO! WE NEED A DISTRACTION AND THIS BUS CRASHES WILL GET THE FOCUS OFF US WHILE WE RUN TO BRIT'S VAN! SO I NEED YOU BOTH TO GRAB ON TIGHT TO SOMETHING NOW!"
Shelby and Santana's eyes were wide as they scrambled to grip on to anything. The bus picked up speed and Rachel watched the horde behind them as more distance was gained between them.
"THREE! TWO! ONE! HANG ON!" Rachel shouted.
Santana and Shelby screamed as Rachel purposely whipped the bus to the right as hard as she could. Using high speed and momentum as she slammed her foot on the breaks causing the bus to flip repeatedly.
JANUARY 2012. HIRAM AND RACHEL.
"I don't understand. What do you mean he hasn't been in all day?" Hiram asked with worry.
"I'm sorry Mr. Berry but Dr. Berry isn't on staff or on call today."
"I understand. Thank you."
"You're welcome."
The phone clicked off and Hiram swallowed thickly. His eyes cast to Rachel who was basically catatonic.
They were still in the precinct and Hiram was filling with an unsettling feeling.
He looked to the clerk desk but knew since it wasn't twenty four hours that they wouldn't look for his husband.
He had to wait. He had to sit and wait and try to console his daughter.
Hopefully, he'd hear from his husband at some point. He didn't want to think about the possibility of it not happening or what that would mean.
