Hop-Along

Draco couldn't help but admire the way Ginny looked, lying on the picnic blanket, her hair plaited and thrown over her shoulder, her little orange shorts showing off her legs.

It was a beautiful day, hot and sunny, and perfect, and she just made it even more picturesque.

He opened the picnic basket beside him, and pulled out a bottle of champagne, along with two glasses. Ginny sat up a little, enough so that she could prop herself on her elbows.

"What's the occasion?" she asked, her lips tilting into a smile.

The sun was bringing out the freckles on her nose and cheeks and she'd never looked more beautiful.

"Can't I just want to spoil you?" he asked, raising his eyebrow at her. "You deserve it, sweetheart."

Her smile widened and she reached out for him, tugging him close enough to press a kiss to his lips. "I love you."

"I love you too," he replied, sitting back on his heels to pop the champagne cork. He poured them each a glass and handed over Ginny's.

"Draco, look at that rabbit," Ginny said, her brow furrowing as she watched the pure white rabbit hopping towards them. It had a pink ribbon tied around its neck, and it seemed to be hopping in a pattern. "What on earth?"

Draco smiled at her, and she watched on with confusion as the rabbit continued towards them, eventually hopping a circle around them before it landed on the blanket between them.

"Draco? What's going on?"

"Why don't you take a closer look at the bow?" Draco suggested.

He could see her getting more confused as she reached out to tug gently on the end of the bow, catching it as it unravelled from the rabbit's neck.

In the middle of the ribbon, a simple gold ring was threaded around it, a single diamond in the center.

She looked back up to see Draco perched in front of her on one knee.

"Draco?"

"You're my world, Ginny. Marry me, and stay with me forever?"

Her eyes widened. "Oh my—of course I'll marry you!"

Careful of the rabbit, she flung herself into his waiting arms, clutching tightly at him as they kissed, a kiss of joy and desperation, a life affirming kiss that Draco didn't think would ever be beaten.

Eventually, the two of them remembered they were in a park and they seperated, though they stayed close.

Ginny picked up the ribbon and slid the ring from the ribbon.

"Do I have to put it on myself?" she asked.

Draco took the ring from her, and slid it onto her finger, the gold resizing slightly to fit her perfectly.

"How long did it take you to train the rabbit?" she asked a few minutes later, giggling. "I was so confused when it came hopping towards us!"

Draco laughed. "It's charmed, Gin. But it, uh, I thought you might want to keep it? I have a hutch and everything for it, back at home."

Ginny's eyes widened, and she looked from Draco to the rabbit and back again. "You really are the best," she murmured. "I'm so lucky."

Draco shook his head. "I have to disagree with you, sweetheart. I'm the lucky one."
