Chapter 10 A: Running interference...
The next morning Emma woke up naked and hot as shit sweating bullets under covers and blankets in her bed. She barely had any direct memories of the night before. A loud groan escaped her lips as she stretched her body out. When her bare arms and chest hit the open air she shivered slightly and realization hit her that she was completely bare. The cool air of her bedroom wrapped around her full form as she stood to her feet.
She approached her closet and pulled out her lady briefs and a pair of sweats and a wife beater. The blonde walked over to her bed grabbing a blanket and covering herself once more. She then grabbed her clothes and walked the length of the hall to the bathroom where she dropped the blanket and hopped into the shower. Hot water splashed and soaked her skin as she washed off the mud and grime from the night before.
However for the life of her she still could not quite remember exactly what happened after she had left the dance. How did she leave the dance? In fact how did she even get home? God she figured she must've been pretty plastered the night before, even though she had no headache or any other signs of a hangover. Emma exited the tub and dried off and quickly dressed herself.
As she entered the hall way she saw her little brother brushing the sleep out of his eyes. He smiled up at her as she swooshed his hair and gave him a little kiss to the head as she walked by and headed quietly downstairs. The green eyed girl was sure her parents would still be sleeping especially if they had stayed up all night awaiting her arrival and she was almost positive she would be grounded when they awoke. Instead of awaiting their punishment she decided to get ahead of the damnation and sweeten them up with breakfast in bed.
Approaching the kitchen soft and sneaky she heard the voices of her sperm and egg donation, and damned herself for ever thinking they would sleep in for once in their lives. Her ears perked up at the mentioning of a name she had never heard spoken between the two before. James? Who the hell was James? Oh God had her mother cheated? Had her father found out? Emma held her breath and listened even more intently to the conversation her parents were having.
"David you can't go to see James that would be way too dangerous and suspicious for you and him. One night a new wolf shows up and changes in town and the next you're going on a secret trip somewhere? That doesn't seem strange to you?" Her mothers voice could be heard barely above a whisper as if the two had something to hide. Emma was impressed that she could even hear the soft words. She was sure she must've gotten super powers over night, but what did her mother mean a new wolf came to town last night. There would be no way a new wolf would've come to town the full moon wasn't for at least another week.
Emma had been watching her mother prepare the shed for her fathers change for at least a few days. The blonde couldn't help but wonder who this new wolf was and why they seemed to be able to wolf out whenever they wanted. "Mary Margaret I have no choice James is the only one who knows pack politics enough to guide her into being the alpha she needs to be. In fact I believe James would have been an even better alpha than I will be oneday if he just were a little bit more grimy."
Well at least at this point Emma could determine that James was in fact not her mothers secret lover for her father seemed to be very fond of whoever this mystery man was. Mary Margaret leaned forward placing her hands over her husbands and squeezing gently. She knew how much he missed his other half the boys had been almost inseparable since birth as he always told her.
Over the past decade plus however, he had to learn how to cope without his innocent twin. "David let me go." Her husband looked at her quizzically. "No seriously it wouldn't look suspicious if I went. I'll tell Dean Ursula I've had an untimely death in my family and I need to go back home to get things situated for the wake and funeral. That'll give us some time to get her trained at the very least control her change. I'll take a couple of weeks off and while you and Neal are back here you can run interference with your father. He won't suspect a thing if we get some help."
David took a moment to mull over his wife's plan and nodded in agreement. "Who will help us tho?" Emma stood still as a statue trying to gather as much information as she possibly could. She was so lost in her thoughts at the moment. Who was this mysterious man with whom her parents needed help from? Who was this woman or girl wolf they kept mentioning? Was it Ruby? Emma had way too many questions and simply not enough answers but she tuned in to the conversation once more. "Well the only people other than your father with that much power and pull in this town would be Mayor Mills and Mulan."
At the mention of Reginas mother Emma finally decided to step into the conversation. Stepping forward into the kitchen and revealing herself to her parents she questioned "What do you guys need from Gina's mom?" David and Mary Margaret were completely taken aback at their eldest child's untimely entrance. They gawked at her for a second and then gazed at each other to gauge how much of the actual conversation she had overheard.
"Morning dear" came Mary Margaret's sweet voice. "Morning ma wanna answer my question?" She chided her mother gently. Mary Margaret rolled her eyes with her response "We need Reginas mother for a spell. Are you happy now you nosey rosey?" As she finished her sentence she stuck her tongue out playfully and Emma shook her head giggling a little at her mothers childish antics. "Ohhh hmm what kind of spell? Maybe Regina or Zelena could help out as well." David nodded in response "Yeah maybe they could but Emma you should have a seat your mother and I need to discuss something with you."
